  • The method of calculating the architectural design cost of the Korean Society of Architecture Policy considers the time spent during the design period. Therefore, faster design times can reduce design costs. As a result of a survey of students majoring in architecture, they felt tiredness from repeated floor plan drawings and difficulties in that there were many things to consider when floor plan drawing. In this paper, we implement a program that can automatically convert sketches into standardized floor plans during the architectural design process and a web app for user convenience. In the proposed method, when a user registers a sketch image through a web app, the program separates the space in the drawing through geometric shapes detection. Based on the dimensions and spatial information shown in the sketch, the outer and inner walls are displayed and the appropriate furniture is placed in the space. Through the proposed method, the design cost can be expected to be reduced by reducing the time of the drawing process in the architectural design stage, and 95.2% of architectural students expressed their intention to use the program.

  • W3C has developed the RDF standard for utilizing ontology in Web applications. This paper presents extracting, storing, and applying ontology on product data. The management and document information included in DWG files is focused as an example. By analyzing the relationship among the drawing data, the RDF schema is designed frist. Based on the schema ontology is extracted and stored in XML files. As an application of the stored ontology, we the schema ontology is extracted and stored in XML files. As an application of the stored ontology, we can reconfigure the sitemap of drawing data repositories. In this example, the users can select the view that he or she is interested in (e.g., designer, document, project). With such various views of an drawing data repository, the users can access the specific data more effectively.

  • In this thesis, a computerized retrieval system was designed for architectural drawings to provide a faster and more efficient access to information on drawings in architectural design offices. The programs were written in COBOL 5, and operated on the CYBER 170-825 computer at the Yonsei University Computer Center.

  • Drawings in construction industry are an aggregation of knowledge containing various information generated in a number of projects. Finish details are generated by architects when they select details and methods of construction by spaces or elements. However it is so difficult to re-use details in existing drawing management systems because there are so many details in a sheet and there are several many kinds of sheets in a file. In this paper, a drawing segmentation algorithm is suggested for managing building finish details individually. Based on this algorithm, a system module for making detail blocks from files of finish details is developed. Using the drawing segmentation module, interfaces of drawing management system are suggested in the paper. Management of individual detail blocks helps to reduce of the time for searching and increases productivity of designed drawings. Also it would contribute to increase quality of designed drawings by reusing of knowledge in detail blocks.

  • We propose an efficient method to determine the position of blueprint by using a vector field with optimized MLS(Moving Least Squares). Typically, a professional architectural design office takes a long time to work as well as a high processing cost because the designer manually determines the location to place the buildings in a specific area. In order to solve this inefficient problem, we propose a method to automatically determine the location of the blueprint based on the optimized MLS method. In the proposed framework, the designer selects the desired region in the actual city data and calculates the flow of the vector based on the region. Use the optimized MLS method to extract the vector field and determine the amount of rotation of the drawing based on this field. The location of the blueprint determined by the proposed method is very similar to the flow seen when the actual building is located. As a result, the efficiency of the overall architectural design process is further improved by reducing the designer's inefficient workforce.
