Contemporary architecture is showing its deconstruction and departure from modern architecture based on rationality, such as reductionism or virtualism. This means a shift from a mechanistic and ecological world view to an organic and ecological view, from a deterministic reason to a reason for a possible secret static. This study examines the potential of fractals, a scientific theory of complexity that is emerging as a new paradigm in the 21st century, as an appropriate alternative to contemporary complexity architecture. The method and scope of this study were understood and its features were identified through literature and data research and prior study review. Based on the organic nature of fractal geometry, we analyzed the works of contemporary architects(Frank Gehry, Bernard Tschumi, Steven Holl, Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas, Daniel Libeskind, Zvi Hecker, Ito Toyo) and studied the possibility of architectural design using the principle of fractal. As a result, fractal geometry, similar to the patterned order of nature, has an infinite set of organizational functionalities in architecture and can be applied in various aspects of design analysis. Architectural designs based on the fractal theory will require more research and development to realize dynamic design representation using digital computers.

The aim of this study is to examine the characteristics of facade expression designed by Kim. Han-sup, a key architect in the regional modern architecture movement in Gwang-ju and Jeonnam from the 1950's to 1960's. The study begins with the architectural background and thoughts of Kim. Han-sup through literature reviews and introduces an interview with Han. chong-un, a former college student and employee of Kim, which explains the aesthetic architecture that appeared in his design of facades that was reasonably applied to materials, technology, structure and function in line with the economically tough period in Korea. Furthermore, in order to investigate the characteristics of his facade expression, detailed analysis items will be derived from precedent studies. This study will attempt to conclude with statements that his aesthetic architecture can be defined as an emphasis on formative mass by contrasting between basic rectangular forms, implementation with detailed three-dimensional facade by extruding differently vertical and horizontal structural lines and with the pursuit of decoration through compartmental faces on his 12 representative architectural works.

The aim of this study is to discover the organic expression principles of the 20C. Architecture. As a result, first, the organic expression principles was organised in six categories, a. naturalism b. neo-naturalism, c. realism, d. abstractionism, e. regionalism, f. functionalism. Second, among the organic expression principles, the naturalism, the neo-naturalism and the abstractionism were the most dominant organic expression principles of the 20C. Architecture. Third, from 1960, the functionalism have become one of the most dominant organic expression of the 20C. Architecture.

This study is a understanding on technological specific expression to reflect of a research institute in modern architecture. For this study, it separately reduce space program, plan program, design elements of elevation, structural system, mechanical system, building material program to its expressional elements of research institute. Also, it's arranged about a specificity that is expressed for technology each plan elements of a research institute. As a result, elements what is expressive of technology on research institute are influenced an aesthetic expression, expression of an arrangement system, structural expression, expression of architectural organization, and it influences more getting feels technological specificity expressed an aesthetic, structural system, architectural composition, mechanical distribution system in order of their magnitude. This is offered suggestion what must be an achievable complex both a simply technological expression and aesthetic expression.

After a digital modelling method has been introduced into architectural design in 1990s, a radical change was taken place in generating architectural form and space. Many architects have a view that digital modelling method is the most Important invention in the visual presentation since the moment that architect Philippo Brunelleschi experimented initially the linear perspective. Therefore, in this study, comparing between perspectiva artificialis and digital modelling method, we clarify 1) the relationship of architectural design and presentation method, 2) the practical and philosophical background inherent in digital modelling method which played key role in developing non-representational architecture, 3) and the principles of non-representational architecture like diagram, folding, and trace.

This study is intended to clarify the ideologies and principles applied to the formative expression of church architecture which is contained both the God and human. From the result of study of modern architectural movement, all of architectural ideology have not been developed with the church architecture. Some of architectural concept have been the foundation of modern church architecture. From the point of view of theological aspects of Christianism, in church architecture which is hard to overcome the adherence of historical characteristics, especially nationalism which contain all the concepts and try the localization of church architecture play multi-functional roles to form expressional characteristics of the modern church architecture show harmonize to the modern architecture trend. The study is intended to clarify the nationalism-church architecture and to know the capability of our cases.

박준영 건축사는 매우 독특한 분으로 인터뷰 후에 기억되었다. 매우 훌륭한 품질의 건축을 위해 자신의 경제적 상황도 마다 않고, 일관되게 업무를 처리하는 모습은 대단함을 넘어 존경스런 생각도 들게 되었다. 하지만 그의 표현처럼, '산수를 못해' 조직의 운영과 사업의 어려움을 감내하고 있는 것을 보면 안타까움도 함께 들었다. 하지만 이런 것이 어디 그 만의 문제는 일까? 학교에서도 산수를 좀 알려주고, 국내 건축 환경이 계속 좋은 품질의 건축을 유지하는 데 기본적 여건이 되어주는 날이 빨리 왔으면 좋겠다.

본 논문에서는 한국 건축 유산 유지 보수를 지원하기 위한 온톨로지 기반의 추천 시스템을 제안한다. 본 연구는 다음을 포함한다: 1) 건축 유산의 수리 정보를 표현하는 온톨로지 디자인, 2) 수리 사례 DB 구축, 3) 수리 방법 추천 시스템 개발. 본 연구에서는 기존 문화유산 온톨로지를 참조하여 한국 목조 건축문화유산의 정보를 표현하는 온톨로지를 디자인 하였다. 둘째, 국립 문화재 연구소와 문화재청에서 제공하는 수리 내용 및 전문가 인터뷰 데이터를 바탕으로 수리 정보데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 셋째, 우리는 가장 유사한 현상과 원인을 가진 한국 목조 건축문화유산의 수리 방법을 추천하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 이 연구는 수리 지식을 공유하고 건축문화유산 수리를 위한 방법을 결정하는데 기여한다.

프랑스에서 건축은 특별한 의미를 갖는다. 1965년 9월 프랑스 루브르궁에서 '현대건축의 아버지'로 불리는 르코르뷔지에의 장례식이 국장(國葬)으로 치러진 것에서도, 또 유럽최초로 건축을 문화적 관점에서 성문화한 것에서도 이를 엿볼 수 있다. 1977년 당시 프랑스는 건축법(Architecture Act)에서 "건축은 문화의 표현이다. 건축의 창조성, 건물의 품격, 주변환경과의 조화, 자연적 도시적 경관과 건축유산의 존중은 공공의 관심사다"라고 규정했다. "프랑스에서는 옛날부터 국왕이 건축사(Architect)를 초청해 식사를 할 정도로 건축을 예술 문화적 관점에서 이해하고 접근하며, 특히 건축사(Architect), 예술가, 문화가는 프랑스에서 대단히 중요한 위치를 차지합니다." 프랑스 2PORTZAMPARC에서 20년 넘게 건축을 해온 송현정 건축사(프랑스 건축사)는 프랑스가 건축에 있어 특수한 역사적 맥락을 갖고 있다고 설명한다. 2PORTZAMPARC은 프리츠커상을 수상한 프랑스 건축사 크리스티앙 드 포잠박이 이끄는 사무소다. 업무차 한국을 찾은 그를 3월 28일 서울 광화문 성곡미술관에서 만났다.

건축공간에 대해 막연히 동경하며, 좋은 건축공간을 만들기 위해 노력한 시간을 기억해본다. 그다지 손에 잡히는 것이 없어 보인다. 어찌보면 건축주의 요구와 구조, 기능, 설비, 건축비의 문제에 매달려 좋은 건축공간이 가져야할 모습을 마지막까지 지키지 못한 경우가 많다. 그러나 건축가에게 꿈같은 것은 이 세상에 존재해본 적이 없는 나만이 만들어낸 건축공간일 것이다. 그것은 영원한 건축가의 꿈이며, 누가 뭐라고 하더라도 건축인이 건축적 삶을 사는 근거를 만들어 주는 것이다. 근래, 건축공간에 우선하여 형태적 유희나 재료의 표현, 프로덕션의 즐거움 자체에 의미를 두는 경향이 보여지기도 하지만, 건축이 존재하는 고유한 영역은 결국 공간이라는 것에 모두 공감하리라고 생각된다. 젊은 시절 건축공간에 대한 향수를 달래며, 잊혀져가는 건축공간의 가치를 새롭게 일으키고자 공간클럽이라는 이름으로 건축공간에 대한 이런 저런 얘기를 던지려고 한다. 더러는 일반적인 이야기도 있겠지만, 소주제를 통해 건축공간을 전혀 새롭게 볼 수 있는 시각의 존재를 드러낼 수 있을 것으로 생각한다.
