여가시간 및 소득수준 증가에 따라 다양한 활동들이 수상공간에서 일어나고 있으며 이를 수용하기 위하여 다양한 구조물들이 수상에 설치되고 있다. 그 중 플로팅 건축물은 친환경적이고 수상공간을 보다 적극적으로 활용할 수 있다는 이유로 최근 그 사용이 증가하고 있다. 하지만 부유체를 이용하여 수상에 입지하는 플로팅 건축물의 특성으로 인하여 기능, 용도 및 이용목적이 일반건축물과 동일하나 법적으로 다르게 취급되고 있으며 플로팅 건축물의 설계, 건설 및 이용 과정에서 다양한 문제가 발생되고 있다. 이러한 문제들은 최근 수요가 증가하고 있는 플로팅 건축물 활성화에 많은 제약이 되고 있다. 따라서 플로팅 건축물을 일반건축물과 같은 '건축물'로서 법적 지위를 인정받기 위해서는 "건축법"에서 정의하고 있는 '건축물' 및 '대지'에 대한 개념을 바탕으로 플로팅 건축물이 설치되는 수상공간에 대한 수상대지에 대한 개념 설정이 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 국내외 플로팅 건축물 법적용 사례를 바탕으로 일반건축물에 적용되는 대지의 개념으로 인하여 발생되는 플로팅 건축물의 법적 문제를 도출하고 이를 해결하기 위한 수상대지 개념 설정에 대한 방안을 모색하였다.

This study aims to research the Kisho Kurokawa's architectural concepts, that are comprised of complex theories system, for globalization of Korea. Kurokawa's architectural concepts are composed by Metabolism, Metamorphosis and Symbiosis. And intermediate zone, ambiguity, multivalence are theories that work as media in changing process levels to three main concepts and these are used as media of Metamorphosis which embody Symbiosis. Metabolism include concepts of Metamorphosis and Symbiosis. Symbiosis is comprise of concepts of Metabolism and Metamorphosis, and is a ultimate goal of these three main concepts. Metamorphosis works as a medium in changing process levels from Metabolism to Symbiosis.

This study investigates the level of the construction student's familiarity and interest in sustainability, their attitude toward sustainability, and the factors for bringing student's attitude toward sustainability. To accomplish the main objectives, this study employes a survey instrument created and developed by the authors. This is a descriptive and correlation study using responses from construction students at the Building Construction department at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Virginia. The results of descriptive statistics and multiple regression using SPSS version 16 present the following findings. Construction students perceive that they have a relatively high level of familiarity with sustainable construction and sustainability. Secondly, student's attitude toward sustainability is changed based on several factors such as sustainable construction courses, a professor who is interested in sustainability, their interest in the construction industry, university initiative, and the level of sustainability for student's learning facilities. Finally, the construction student's attitude toward sustainability can be improved by offering sustainable construction courses in construction programs, having professors who teach and research sustainability, and adopting sustainable initiatives at the university level such as campus recycling and various sustainable programs.

이번호에 소개하는 해외건축동향은 지난 6월호에 이어 여전히 인도, 북쪽 지방의 뉴 델리에 위치해 있는 Indian Habitat Centre이다. Habitat을 번역하면 "서식지" 라는 뜻을 가진 이 곳은 도시개발과 환경관련 업무를 보는 사무실의 개념을 떠나서 인간의 이상적 서식지라는 좀 더 큰 근본적 개념을 가지고 계획된 곳이다.
