Most of the vibration and noise generating in small boats come from shipboard machinery such as main engine, generator and auxiliary machinery etc. In order to build up the comfortable environment for the crew and to reduce the ambient noise, and provide basic materials for reasoning selection application, the design under allowable vibration & noise conditions and the examination of vibration condition of the new ships, this paper researches the frequency spectrum and order analysis of vibration and noise. The obtained results are summarized as follows : Through comparing the small boat internal noise with the regulation of IMO and DNV, it revealed that the noise level of main engine room accords with the standard, and the noise of other places are beyond the values. In this paper, two boats are analyzed, which are same type, same size and power, but the main engines noise of them is different. In order to search the noise source, the noise of main engine room and relative parts are measured. The third order of measured points is dominant in frequency domain by the order analysis.

The study investigated the actual conditions of U.S. nursing-home facilities and Korean nursing homes and conducted a comparative analysis of those nursing facilities to propose the following suggestions for facility improvement: 1.) The number of sickbeds per nursing unit in Korea should be maintained a level of more than 30 beds like the United States, and each rest room in a residential facility should have an area of at least 4.2 square meters. 2.) Each room of a nursing home should be occupied by four or less persons for privacy. 3,) The minimum areas of residential rooms should be larger than 9.2 sq. meters for single rooms and 6.1 sq. meters for quadruple rooms. 4.) Nursing homes for the elderly need to improve rest room spaces and interior fishes to prevent them from falling down and getting hurt and thus help them live safely.

With its rapid modernization and unparalleled speed of aging, South Korea faces the need for dramatic increase in its supply of nursing homes. Among the spacial components of nursing homes, residential units are considered as an essential part because the older person in nursing homes usually spend most of their time in residential units and the nursing homes are mainly composed of various residential units. It is necessary, therefore, to prepare a guideline for the plan of residential units in order to design the healthy and efficient nursing homes. This paper has first identified the concept of residential unit and analyzed 66 cases in the 62 nursing homes from 4 countries. And 4 nursing homes in Korea have been surveyed for the in-depth study. On the basis of this analysis, architectural prototypes of residential units have been proposed and the architectural characteristics of them have been compared analytically.
