Real-time Localization of An UGV based on Uniform Arc Length Sampling of A 360 Degree Range Sensor (전방향 거리 센서의 균일 원호길이 샘플링을 이용한 무인 이동차량의 실시간 위치 추정)

  • We propose an automatic localization technique based on Uniform Arc Length Sampling (UALS) of 360 degree range sensor data. The proposed method samples 3D points from dense a point-cloud which is acquired by the sensor, registers the sampled points to a digital surface model(DSM) in real-time, and determines the location of an Unmanned Ground Vehicle(UGV). To reduce the sampling and registration time of a sequence of dense range data, 3D range points are sampled uniformly in terms of ground sample distance. Using the proposed method, we can reduce the number of 3D points while maintaining their uniformity over range data. We compare the registration speed and accuracy of the proposed method with a conventional sample method. Through several experiments by changing the number of sampling points, we analyze the speed and accuracy of the proposed method.

Integer Frequency Offset Estimation Scheme Robust to Timing Offset for OFDM-Based CR Systems (OFDM 기반 CR 시스템에서 시간 옵셋에 강인한 정수 주파수 옵셋 추정 기법)

  • This paper proposes an integer frequency offset estimation scheme robust to timing offset for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based cognitive radio (CR) systems. The proposed scheme exploits a feature that a sample distance between a continual pilot and a scattered pilot nearest to it in an OFDM symbol belongs to one of predetermined distances. First after calculating a correlation value of every continual pilot and its nearest scattered pilot. Then, it is divided into several groups according to the sample distances. Since correlation values with the same sample distance undergo the same effect of the timing offset, the effect of the timing offset can be removed by re-correlating these correlation values. From the simulation results we can confirm that the proposed algorithm estimates the integer frequency offset with the robustness to the timing offset when compared to a conventional scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm to produce 3-D surface model from a set of range data, based on NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) surface fitting technique. It is assumed that the range data is initially unorganized and scattered 3-D points, while their connectivity is also unknown. The proposed algorithm consists of three steps: initial model approximation, hierarchical representation, and construction of the NURBS patch network. The mitral model is approximated by polyhedral and triangular model using K-means clustering technique Then, the initial model is represented by hierarchically decomposed tree structure. Based on this, $G^1$ continuous NURBS patch network is constructed efficiently. The computational complexity as well as the modeling error is much reduced by means of hierarchical decomposition and precise approximation of the NURBS control mesh Experimental results show that the initial model as well as the NURBS patch network are constructed automatically, while the modeling error is observed to be negligible.

  • Recently, estimation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission has continuously emerged as an important global issue. This study compares various statistical methods for estimation of fuel consumption, which is necessary for calculation of GHG emission in road transportation sector. Existing methods have focused on using merely transportation fuel supply or distance traveled for calculation of fuel consumption. Estimates of GHG emission based on fuel supply, however, cannot reflect various vehicle types or model year. This study suggests and compares, from statistical point of view, several methods, which can be applied to estimate fuel consumption of each vehicle, by combining distance traveled and fuel efficiency (mileage), and total fuel consumption of all vehicles. It also suggests practical measures that can reflect vehicle types and model year to suggested methods for future research.

Spatiotemporal Traffic Density Estimation Based on Low Frequency ADAS Probe Data on Freeway (표본 ADAS 차두거리 기반 연속류 시공간적 교통밀도 추정)

  • The objective of this study is to estimate and analyze the traffic density of continuous flow using the trajectory of individual vehicles and the headway of sample probe vehicles-front vehicles obtained from ADAS (Advanced Driver Assitance System) installed in sample probe vehicles. In the past, traffic density of continuous traffic flow was mainly estimated by processing data such as traffic volume, speed, and share collected from Vehicle Detection System, or by counting the number of vehicles directly using video information such as CCTV. This method showed the limitation of spatial limitations in estimating traffic density, and low reliability of estimation in the event of traffic congestion. To overcome the limitations of prior research, In this study, individual vehicle trajectory data and vehicle headway information collected from ADAS are used to detect the space on the road and to estimate the spatiotemporal traffic density using the Generalized Density formula. As a result, an analysis of the accuracy of the traffic density estimates according to the sampling rate of ADAS vehicles showed that the expected sampling rate of 30% was approximately 90% consistent with the actual traffic density. This study contribute to efficient traffic operation management by estimating reliable traffic density in road situations where ADAS and autonomous vehicles are mixed.

  • 본 논문에서는 스테레오 카메라로부터 획득된 좌, 우 영상의 변이를 추정하여 3차원 공간 좌표(x, y, z)를 얻어내고, 거리측정과 가상공간 제어를 통해 사용자에게 현실감을 제공하는 실시간 3차원 공간 인식 시스템을 제안한다. 스테레오 카메라로 부터 획득된 좌, 우 영상은 시점의 차이 때문에 동일 물체에 대한 좌, 우 영상의 좌표 값의 차이를 발생시키는 데 이를 변이(disparity)라 정의한다. 관심 영역의 변이를 추정할 때 일반적으로 관심 영역의 모든 화소(pixel)의 변이를 추정하지만, 제안한 알고리즘에서는 관심 영역의 2차원 중심 좌표(x, y)의 변이만을 추정하여 계산량을 줄이고 실시간 처리가 가능하도록 하였다. 카메라 파라미터를 이용하여 획득된 변이로부터 깊이 정보(depth)를 얻어내고 3차원 공간 좌표를 획득한다. 손을 관심 영역으로 설정한 시스템에서 3차원 공간 좌표는 실시간으로 사용자의 손의 움직임에 의해 획득되고, 가상공간(virtual space)에 적용되어 사용자가 가상공간을 조작할 수 있는 듯한 느낌을 준다. 실험을 통해 제안한 알고리즘이 1.5m 거리 내에서의 깊이 측정시 평균 0.68cm의 오차를 가짐을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, an estimation technique of initial rotor position at standstill in Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) is proposed. In case search coils are used as a position sensor, it has many advantages like low cost, decrease in the volume, high robust characteristics and wide applications. However, the initial rotor position detection is very difficult because the search coil's EMF is not exist at a standstill. In this paper, a near estimation method of initial rotor position is suggested using squared Euclidean distance. The simulation and experiment for the proposed method are achieved. The validity of the proposed method is verified by experimental results.

  • In this paper, we analysed a performance signal to noise ratio about pulse, integration coherent, and integration non coherent system in radar system. It compared existing with proposal method in order to estimation two target direction of arrival. Generally, radar system radiate pulse wave in order to decreasing distortion of return wave and transmission wave. We analysed the performance integration coherent and integration non coherent. Integration coherent is processing system before doing envelop detection, and integration non coherent is processing system after doing envelop detection. Through simulation, we analysed a performance signal to noise ratio to estimation two target range detection and estimated target direction of arrival. We showed that integration coherent system is the most good performance.

  • This paper presents a comparison of rotor position estimation of a switched reluctance motor(SRM) with built-in search coils by three methods. The search coil EMFs are not generated in the SRM with built-in search coils at standstill. So an initial rotor position estimation method is needed. In this paper squared euclidean distance, fuzzy logic and neural network methods we proposed for the estimation of initial rotor position. The simulated results of the three methods are compared. The simulated result of the squared euclidean distance method, which has the best performance, is supported by the experimental result.
