The Status and outlook of Propulsion System for Electric Powered Personal Air Vehicles (전기 동력 Personal Air Vehicle의 추진시스템 현황 및 전망)

  • In this paper, we present some results of power analyses, and weight estimation on electric propulsion systems for Personal Air Vehicles(PAV) applications. When hybrid electric propulsion is adopted, its power performance using fuel cells and batteries is inferior to that of internal combustion engines for 1,000 kg PAV. However, hybrid electric propulsion systems may replace IC engines when energy density and power density is over $0.75kW{\cdot}hr/kg$and 2.5 kW/kg, respectively.

  • Personal Air Vehicle is expected to be a promising solution to relieve traffic congestion using urban airspace. The development of related technologies such as materials or batteries has been accelerated. In addition, commercial transportation services are being prepared. When fierce competition begins in the PAV market, even technologically superior products will disappear without choices by consumers. Therefore, demand factors should be reflected in PAV development to enhance competitiveness. In the paper, values were estimated for the major technological attributes of PAV. Stated preference data were collected through a survey, and the conjoint method and ordered probit model were adopted. Thereafter, it was confirmed that the value would be high in the order of dual mode, drone-type appearance, and noise reduction. Some R&D strategies were proposed based on this.

  • In this study, the conceptual design and performance evaluation of a personal air vehicle (PAV) is presented, which is a potential futuristic individual transportation. The blade element theory (BET) is employed to compute a rotational velocity. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation is performed to investigate the difference in the thrust performance in the rotor axis distance of a quad-copter PAV in hovering. Modal analysis is performed to create a Campbell diagram to investigate critical speed. Consequently, a quad-copter PAV changes the aerodynamics thrust and critical velocity according to the rotor axis distance.

  • 최근, 팬데믹 상황이 나아지면서 줄었던 해외출장이 늘어나고 있다. 해외출장 시 주 교통수단으로 사용하는 항공기는 기상상황에 따라 변동이 잦고 이런 변경된 일정을 확인하기 위해서는 항공사 마다 로그인해서 일정을 확인하거나 공항 홈페이지에서 직접 항공편명을 검색해야 한다. 그렇기 때문에, 일정을 열람하기가 번거로우며 제 3 자와 일정을 공유하고자 할 때에는 제 3 자가 공항 홈페이지에서 항공번호를 직접 입력하는 방법 밖에 없으므로 더욱 불편하다. 본 연구에서는 이런 불편사항을 개선하기 위하여 하나의 웹사이트에서 자신의 일정을 등록하고 열람하며 제 3 자와 쉽게 공유할 수 있는 방법을 고안하였다.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the requirements for the application of UAM, a new concept to solve the traffic congestion in large cities. First, the current domestic and foreign status of research and development related to UAM was investigated and the pros and cons and the time required for each mission radius were analyzed for various configurations of aircraft being commercialized. In addition, in order to analyze the market acceptance of the UAM, the individual's consciousness and reliability requirements were identified and safety requirements were analyzed through accident rate data for each aircraft type. Because it operates in a densely populated urban area, requirement analyses on noise and exhaust, which are environmental factors that can affect the community were performed, and requirements related to aircraft performance, certification standards, and airworthiness standards of FAA and EASA were also analyzed.

  • The airworthiness certification of lightning indirect effects becomes an important issue in personal air vehicles (PAVs), which are being actively developed around the world. PAVs are very vulnerable to lightning strikes, because of miniaturization, use of the electric engines, composite materials, and application of unmanned navigation systems. In this study, we first examined various steps of certifications for lightning indirect effects shown in AC 20 136B issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). We then applied certification guidelines for equipment transient design level listed in RTCA DO 160G Section 22 to PAVs and investigated lightning transient environments inside the PAVs. We also analyzed the aircraft level tests specified in SAE ARP 5416A by using electromagnetic computational analysis software EMA3D. Finally, we analyzed the actual transient level for PAVs and derived the data necessary for conformity certification.

  • Recently, aerospace industries in South Korea are expected to continue to grow due to UAM. Accordingly, certification services for aircraft are expected to increase. As a way to cope with the increase of certification work, one could consider a delegation system that can limitedly delegate the unique role of airworthiness authorities. In this paper, we reviewed regulations of FAA's individual delegation (DER, DAR, DMIR, etc.), the organizational delegation system (ODA), and the EASA's organizational delegation system (DOA, POA). We also reviewed regulations and actual status of delegation system in South Korea. On the basis of these, considering circumstances of aerospace industries in South Korea, we presented a method to introduce certification delegation system gradually and to improve domestic certification regulation.

  • Wenn man das fahrl${\"{a}}$ssige Begehungsdelikt in Bezug auf ein Niveau eines Risiko der objektiv vorhandenen tatbestandlichen Erfolgsm${\"{o}}$glichkeit und auf die n${\"{o}}$tige Sorgfaltspflicht, die die T${\"{a}}$ter nimmt, um das solches Risiko abzuhalten, berucksichtigt, ergibt sich der spezielle Fall selten bei der Person, mit dem hoch-gefahrlichen Berufszweig besch${\"{a}}$ftigt ist, auf den die bestehende Allgemeine-Theorie ${\"{u}}$ber das gafahrl${\"{a}}$ssige Begehungsdelikt gleichm${\"{a}}$ssig unanwendbar ist.   • At present, many countries around the world, as well as Korea, have faced serious social problems due to increased traffic congestion resulting in the social loss. As a result, there is an increasing demand for new transportation which is not exist. This is why many companies around the world are trying to solve this problem with transportation innovation through On Demand Mobility(ODM) which uses Personal Air Vehicle(PAV) that is operated on demand by customer rather than scheduled transportation. This study analyzed the current research trends of the On Demand Mobility projects of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), UBER, and AIRBUS. Also, this study presents the benefit of adopting this On Demand Mobility systems into Korea. Three commuting routes were set up in the metropolitan area in Korea, and the benefit of using the On Demand Mobility method was compared with the current public transportation and private car.

  • In this paper, we proposed an autopilot of the unmanned piloted vehicle to guide to the specific position and analyzed robustness of the designed autopilot. We divide an aircraft velocity into the three case which are low, crusing and high speed, and designed autopilot gains are gain scheduled. We generated the turbulence for the operational altitudes and analyzed performance of the autopilot about it. We proved robustness of the designed autopilot for the turbulence and gust using simulation.
