  • Compared with public archives, personal archives are likely to disappear if creators don't preserve and manage them. So personal archives must be managed by oneself. But it's difficult to manage their archives systematically for people who don't have the expertise in archival science. Besides, there are not enough available informations. So this thesis suggests how to manage personal archives by two steps. First step is figuring out one's own archives through analyzing one's life by top-down approach and organizing them into collection. Second step is conducting archival appraisal by three steps and establishing classification schemes, describing them. Especially, this study adduce description elements using ISAD(G) for personal archives. this study also recommends using blogs on portal to manage one's archives easily. But they don't have the audit train and exporting function. So this thesis emphasizes the necessity of 'customized archive blogs'. At conclusion, this study highlights the necessity of developing education programs and manuals for people who are trying to manage one's own archives.

  • The personal history of individuals directly and vividly reflects the courses of their life and the society of which they are a part. It has become a meaningful part of the social landscape today to pursue efforts to understand humans and humanity correctly and properly through the windows of private records. Notably, the significance of keeping private records on the relationship between individuals and the society of which they are a part lies in the fact that they cooperate to build a foundation on which they can prosper together. One of necessary things to be done to fully appreciate the values of such private records is to perform serious analyses on particular individuals who are behind those records. Developing and refining methods of life history research such as time-line interviews exert positive influence in setting up a direction for private documentation systems where private records are collected and maintained.

  • Many people create records in digital space, and the amount of digital records left after individual dies has increased. The digital record left by the deceased is different from the record heritage that has physical substances. In many cases, the records of the deceased not just belong to the deceased, and many deceased did not explicitly disclose their online accounts and method of dispose of digital records during their lifetime, so this problem may lead to problems of inheritance to the bereaved family. In addition, digital records may be neglected or deleted after a person's death due to software problems, specific platform's terms of use, account deletion by bereaved family, etc. This leads to the problem that daily records, which are important clues to the social aspects at the time, are easily lost. Several studies have revealed that individuals are interested in preserving their digital records, but do not know how to do it, so they are benign neglect. • This research has been conducted under the premise that private records can supplement public records. It recognized that important records of a university could be supplemented with not only administrative records, but also with private records of persons related to the university. The analysis of the founders' life history research was used to establish the classification system of private records and collection strategies. The life history of the founders of the university was analyzed and utilized for the classification system of records and the construction of the collection strategy. This research proposes a multiclassification system with function, subject, and type as the criteria of the classification system, and uses keywords derived from the classification system as a starting point of searching for future record collection and deducing them as potential collectors and producers. Although it cannot be a standard for all private records, it can be considered a significant attempt that takes the diversity of private records into account.

  • At a time when Korea and the rest of the world recently faced the unprecedented situation of "COVID-19," the view of actively "disclosure" of information to prevent the spread of infectious diseases is at odds with the view of "protecting" personal information as these social measures are coupled with the infringement of individuals' basic rights. In order to see the nation's response to the infectious disease crisis, we examined the current status and characteristics of public records according to crisis alert levels based on the manual for responding to infectious disease. Especially we analyzed the types and disclosure status of records containing personal information. For detecting personal information-related issues on news media, we collected online news articles and performed text anlaysis. Through this, we reviewed the problems of record management including personal information and suggested improvement points from the perspective of the life cycle of records: collect, manage, and dispose of them.
