The Acquisition and Development of the Korean Adverbial Particle -ey by L1 English Learners of Korean (제2 외국어로 한국어를 배우는 영어권 학습자의 한국어 부사격 조사 '-에 의 습득과 발달에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the acquisition of the multiple semantic functions of the Korean adverbial particle -ey by L1 American English learners of Korean as a second language at U.S. institutions. Participants at beginning, intermediate, and advanced proficiency levels (N = 45) were tested on the ability to interpret and produce five of the meanings of -ey, which they had been taught in formal classroom settings in the first semester of their Korean language learning. The results show different developmental trajectories for the particle's different semantic functions. The findings of a statistical analysis indicate that the beginning and intermediate proficiency learners had largely acquired the time, goal, and stative location meanings, but not the contact and unit meanings; the advanced learners demonstrated acquisition of all except for the unit meaning. The study suggests that in addition to factors such as semantic complexity and cross-linguistic influence, several other factors including L2 frequency, the availability of linguistic input, and instructional method also contribute to the acquisition of -ey.

A Study of Differences of Convention Advertising Satisfaction and Participation Behavior Based on Segmented Groups of Convention Advertising Attributes (컨벤션 광고속성평가에 따른 세분집단별 컨벤션 광고 만족도 및 참가행동의도 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate if there are any differences of convention advertising and participation behavior based on the segmented groups of convention advertising attributes. The research methods and contents of this study are as follows. From the literature, the measurement of convention advertising attributes, satisfaction, and participation behavior had been developed and utilized to collect the data. The results of factor analysis showed three underlying dimensions of convention advertising attributes. Cluster analysis showed that there were three different segmented groups such as negative, mediative, and positive groups of convention advertising attributes. Lastly, MANOVA showed that there were differences of convention advertising and participation behavior among the segmented groups. More theoretical and practical implication are discussed in the conclusion.

A Study on the Distinct Element Modelling of Jointed Rock Masses Considering Geometrical and Mechanical Properties of Joints (절리의 기하학적 특성과 역학적 특성을 고려한 절리암반의 개별요소모델링에 관한 연구)

  • Distinct Element Method(DEM) has a great advantage to model the discontinuous behaviour of jointed rock masses such as rotation, sliding, and separation of rock blocks. Geometrical data of joints by a field monitoring is not enough to model the jointed rock mass though the results of DE analysis for the jointed rock mass is most sensitive to the distributional properties of joints. Also, it is important to use a properly joint law in evaluating the stability of a jointed rock mass because the joint is considered as the contact between blocks in DEM. In this study, a stochastic modelling technique is developed and the dilatant rock joint is numerically modelled in order to consider th geometrical and mechanical properties of joints in DE analysis. The stochastic modelling technique provides a assemblage of rock blocks by reproducing the joint distribution from insufficient joint data. Numerical Modelling of joint dilatancy in a edge-edge contact of DEM enable to consider not only mechanical properties but also various boundary conditions of joint. Preprocess Procedure for a stochastic DE model is composed of a statistical process of raw data of joints, a joint generation, and a block boundary generation. This stochastic DE model is used to analyze the effect of deviations of geometrical joint parameters on .the behaviour of jointed rock masses. This modelling method may be one tool for the consistency of DE analysis because it keeps the objectivity of the numerical model. In the joint constitutive law with a dilatancy, the normal and shear behaviour of a joint are fully coupled due to dilatation. It is easy to quantify the input Parameters used in the joint law from laboratory tests. The boundary effect on the behaviour of a joint is verified from shear tests under CNL and CNS using the numerical model of a single joint. The numerical model developed is applied to jointed rock masses to evaluate the effect of joint dilation on tunnel stability.

Evaluation and Model Development of Transfer Resistance Factors for Bulk Freight Transportation (벌크화물운송의 환적저항요인 평가 및 모형 개발)

  • The present study aims to evaluate transfer resistance factors in railway stations and draw new implications. The data used for the model estimation are RP (revealed preference) data and SP (stated preference) data. Two types of models were used for the analysis: integration model which combined line-haul stage, transfer stage and shuttle stage and separation model which assessed the three stages separately. The results revealed that while bulk freight shippers mainly focused on line-haul stage, they put emphasis on transfer stage as well. It's especially notable that transfer stage was considered more important than shuttle stage. Therefore, in future transportation policies concerning rail freight, it would be crucial not only to enhance the competitiveness of line-haul stage but also make improvements in transfer stage regarding railway stations.

Development and Validation of Corporate Philanthropy Scale : focusing on the guidelines of ISO26000 (기업사회공헌활동 측정을 위한 척도개발 및 타당화 : ISO26000의 지침을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to develop the corporate philanthropy scale focusing on the guidelines of ISO26000 and to test its reliability and validity. For the purpose of this study, author conducted focus group interview, individually interview, consult and pilot test in order to clarify description and relevance of scale items. To test reliability and validation of scale, 94 staffs in charge of the corporate philanthropy work in the companies were surveyed as research subjects. The results of the explanatory factor analysis on scale found the six factor structure and 27 items. The construct validity and discriminant validity were confirmed through the confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the scale also remained at a high level. Based on these results, implications for corporate philanthropy was suggested.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing on human papillomavirus vaccination among the nursing students. The subjects of this study were 354 university students majoring in nursing in J province. Vaccination rate was 34.2%. There were significant differences of age, grade, religion, intercourse experience, and experience of gynecology care. Self-efficacy, health belief, and knowledge of vaccinated students were higher than non-vaccinated students. The logistic regression analysis revealed that the factors influencing on vaccination were grade and self-efficacy. Through this result, it could be suggested there is a need for education strategies to increase self-efficacy considering grade in order to improve vaccination rate.

  • This study examines the determinants of location decisions for domestic skippers and identifies them with the aid of the location choice model The authors have used Korea's commodity flow survey collected by the inter-regional shippers as well as socio-economic indicators. The results suggest that the location of shippers depend on agglomeration economies, market size, and logistics activities. Finally. this study suggests the direction of locational Policies to help the Korean government with logistics-related policies.

Fuzzy Hedonic Analysis of Airport Noise (공항 소음에 대한 퍼지 헤도닉 분석)

  • When measuring the value of environmental attributes of housing, the conventional Hedonic Pricing Method assumes market equilibrium. Thus each attribute is believed to be implicitly valued based on the market price. The revealed preference is the basic logic in this approach. However, if the participants in the housing market are not perfectly informed or feel vagueness regarding the attributes of the housing, the conventional Hedonic Pricing Approach could not provide relevant value of the attribute in question. A Fuzzy Regression Method is suggested to handle with the lack of information or preference uncertainty problem m the Hedonic Pricing Approach. In this paper, our main concern IS given to the fuzziness effect on the airport noise in the metropolitan areas of South Korea.

  • Many organizations experience that the value they gained from IT (information technology) investment is lower than they expected prior to the actual implementation of a system - the value gap between expected value and realized value from IT. Research on the barriers to the expectation and realization is of high importance both in practice and in IS research. This study analyzed such barriers observed in three companies that have adopted such IT systems as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems each. From analyses of the three companies we specifically identified eight types of barriers: barriers related to industry, organization, knowledge, resource, usage, competence, product, and safety. Common barriers among the three cases were classified into six types, e.g. lack of strategic mind-set, improper organizational structure, lack of human resource, etc. We expect that the results help managers in IS investment to minimize the valuation gap and maximize realized values.

  • This study investigates the relationship between the relationship marketing factors, relationship quality and store loyalty in retail specialty stores. The customization of a retail specialty store was found to be having a larger effect on relationship quality than other factors such as expertise, bonding and communication and the moderating effects of customer characteristic was found be having a larger effect on relationship quality all factors except to communication. The result of this study has some practical implications. First of all, the customization strategy for individual customers is needed because customers trusted employees who provide a customized service more. Second, the employees' expertise is important to obtain the trust of customers. Third, the findings of the study showed that the communication with employees did not affect the trust. Rather, customers more often want price discounts, useful information, other benefits related to transactions. The communication is also necessary to bond a strong relationship with customers, as well as to respond customer's requests immediately Fourth, the marketing managers of the store have to effectively manage the customer relationship with the special consideration to the customer's gender, transaction experience, and variety seeking disposition.
