  • 본 논문에서는 웹 기반의 사이버 강의 시스템을 이용하여 사용자가 인터넷을 통해 교육을 제공 받을 때 발생하는 트래픽을 측정 분석하고 강의에서 제공되는 동영상, 음성 및 문서 등의 멀티미디어 컨텐츠들이 대역폭에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 또한 강의형태에 따라 트래픽 모델을 제시하고 강의 컨텐츠의 구성에 따라 달라지는 전송대역폭과 사용자수에 따른 영향을 분석한다.

  • This study intends to analyze the learning effect of asynchronous online classes used in education fields around the world after the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, we compared and analyzed the lecture evaluation and final exam questions of the HTML5 web programming course, which was conducted offline in 2019 and asynchronously online in 2020 due to COVID-19. As a result of the analysis, no significant difference was drawn between the two teaching methods in the lecture evaluation score and final exam score. However, contrary to concerns about the application of online classes to the entire curriculum, the lecture evaluation and final exam scores of the video-based online classes were high, suggesting the possibility that online classes could be more effective than offline classes if well organized and managed in the future.

  • PDA provides an opportunity for users to study anytime and anywhere because it is portable and convenient thanks to its relatively small size. However, users may face difficulties to fully recognize the characters provided through lecture videos, due to its low resolution and small scaled screen. This thesis proposes a system of remote lecture in which the size of videos can be adjusted and transmitted on the basis of contents necessary for study, using detection of region-of-interest(ROI) image, and a method of image scaling in a bid to solve such a problem of PDAs. The experiment on 802.11b wireless network shows that the proposed system is able to provide more optimized lecture videos than in existing method.

Effects of Lecturer Appearance and Speech Rate on Learning Flow and Teaching Presence in Video Learning (동영상 학습에서 교수자 출연여부와 발화속도가 학습몰입과 교수실재감에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate differences in learning flow and teaching presence according to the lecturer's appearance and the lecturer's speech rate. For this experiment, 183 freshman students from Xingtai University in China were selected as subjects of the experiment, and a total of four types of lecture videos were developed to test the lecturer's appearance and their speech rates. Data was analyzed through multivariate analysis of variance. According to the results of the analysis, first, learning flow and teaching presence of groups who experienced the presence of the lecturer appeared were significantly higher than the groups who learned without the appearance of the lecturer. Second, the groups who learned from videos with a fast speech rate showed higher learning flow and teaching presence than the group who learned at a slow speech rate. Third, there were no significant differences in both learning flow and teaching presence according to the lecturer's appearance and speech rate. This result provides a theoretical and practical basis for developing customized videos according to learners' characteristics.

  • With the increase in smartphone ownership and Internet usage using smartphones, the information environment is shifting from the existing PC to the smart mobile. The current undergraduate students are called Generation Z who prefer smartphones to PCs and video contents to texts. This study attempted to understand their usage behaviors of electronic resources in an academic library in a smart mobile environment. This study conducted a usage statistics analysis with 61,433 usage records of e-books, audiobooks, and e-learning contents and 1,595 records of users in the A academic library during 3 years from 2016 to 2018. The scope of the data includes the date of use, the subject, the year of publication, the channel of use, and each user's gender, affiliation, status, admission date, and graduation date. This study investigated not only the general characteristics of electronic resource use, but also the usage behaviors according to the user's demographic characteristics. Based on the findings, this study suggested practical service plans that are applicable in the near future and reflect changing circumstances.

Improving Accuracy of Chapter-level Lecture Video Recommendation System using Keyword Cluster-based Graph Neural Networks

  • In this paper, we propose a system for recommending lecture videos at the chapter level, addressing the balance between accuracy and processing speed in chapter-level video recommendations. Specifically, it has been observed that enhancing recommendation accuracy reduces processing speed, while increasing processing speed decreases accuracy. To mitigate this trade-off, a hybrid approach is proposed, utilizing techniques such as TF-IDF, k-means++ clustering, and Graph Neural Networks (GNN). The approach involves pre-constructing clusters based on chapter similarity to reduce computational load during recommendations, thereby improving processing speed, and applying GNN to the graph of clusters as nodes to enhance recommendation accuracy. Experimental results indicate that the use of GNN resulted in an approximate 19.7% increase in recommendation accuracy, as measured by the Mean Reciprocal Rank (MRR) metric, and an approximate 27.7% increase in precision defined by similarities. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of a learning system that recommends more suitable video chapters in response to learners' queries.

The Effect of Other Behaviors and Lecture Satisfaction on Lecture Flow in Online Classes of Nursing Students' (간호대학생의 온라인 수업에서 딴짓과 강의만족도가 수업몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the effect of recording online classes and real-time video classes on other behaviors, lecture satisfaction, and lecture flow in during the COVID-19 period. Data were collected and analysis using a structured questionnaire from May 20th to June 4th in 2021 for 550 nursing students in the D University. As a result of the study, it was found that there were more others behaviors in record online classes than in real-time online classes (t=-2.00, p=.046), lecture satisfaction(t=-1.54, p=.124) and lecture flow in real-time online classes it was higher in the record online classes (t=-.63, p=.529), but it was not statistically significant. However, the 2nd year students who participated in the two types of online classes showed statistically significantly higher lecture satisfaction (t=13.55, p=.000) and lecture flow(t=4.48, p=.004). And 4 th grade students of others behaviors was statistically significantly lower (t=4.68, p=.003). In the multiple regression analysis, the main factor affecting lecture flow was lecture satisfaction, and the explanatory power of the model was 55.1% in record online classes (F=128.49, p <.01), and in real-time classes 47.2%(F=77.24, p<.01). In the future, research should be conducted to confirm the difference between the two types of online classes of the same instructor and the difference in other things, lecture satisfaction, and class commitment that appear after applying learner-centered learning.

  • 인터넷의 보급과 초고속 정보통신망의 급속도로 발전함에 따라 학습자와 교수의 상호작용이 가능하며 학술에 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 가상강의 저작도구가 절대적으로 요구되고 있으나 이 저작도구의 개발을 위해 현재는 교사와 학생간의 인터페이스 제공이 미약하고 표준화된 문서 환경과 플랫폼이 없이 서비스를 제공하는 웹 환경으로 인해 개발자들의 작업이 방대해지고 있는 있다. 따라서 최근 컴포넌트 기반 개발 방법론의 대두로 가상강의 저작도구를 위한 교육용 컴포넌트에 관심이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 컴포넌트 기반의 개발 방법론을 통해 웹 환경에서 구현할 때 적용가능한 강의 저작도구 컴포넌트를 요구 공학 생명주기를 통해서 분석, 설계한다. 요구공학에서 사용자 인터페이스 부분을 가상강의에서 교수, 학습자 측면을 고려하고 비즈니스 로직, 동영상과 슬라이드의 동기화, 오디오, 슬라이드 이미지 등을 요구공학 생명주기에서의 산출된 요구공학 명세서를 바탕으로 분석, 설계한다. 개발된 컴포넌트는 가상강의 저작도구를 지원가능하며. 각 컴포넌트는 교육영역의 애플리케이션에 쉽게 적응 가능함으로써 재사용성, 사용의 용이성과 이식성을 가질 수 있다.

H.263 Encoding Speed up Research (H.263 인코딩 속도향상연구)

  • PSTN(Public Switch Telephone Network)에서 동영상을 전송하기 위해 H.263이라는 표준이 발표되었다. 저속의 전송률을 가지는 PSTN을 이용해서 영상회의나 영상전화 등을 구현하기 위해서는 기존의 코딩방식으로는 데이터를 전송하는데 문제점이 많았다. 이를 위해서 개발된 것이 H.263이다. H.263은 H.261에 기반을 두고 있으며 .261에 비해서 동일화질을 제공하는데 반정도의 데이터 양으로도 가능하게 해준다. 영상 압축 Encoder는 일반적으로 Decoder에 비하여 영상을 처리하는데 많은 시간이 소요된다. 그러나 VOD등과 같은 실시간으로 압축할 필요가 없는 경우에 대해서는 인코더가 많은 시간을 소비하더라고 큰 문제가 없는 반면에, 영상 회의나 영상 전화 등은 실시간 영상 Encoding, Decoding을 수행해야 한다. 그러기 위해서 고가의 하드웨어를 사용하게 된다. 이와 같은 이유에서 본 연구에서는 H.263을 소프트웨어만으로 Encoding 속도향상을 꾀하고자 하는 것이 이 논문의 목표이다.
