An Experimental Study for Estimation of Effective Temperature for Design in Steel Box Girder Bridge (강박스거더교의 설계 유효온도 산정을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • The temperature data were measured for two years in a bridge specimen and the bridge in service nearby in order to calculate the effective temperature for thermal loads in steel box girder bridge. The maximum and minimum effective temperatures were calculated in the bridge specimen and the bridge according to air temperature in 2014, 2015 and 2years. The effective temperatures calculated in this study were compared the Euro code and the Highway Bridge Design Criteria. The coefficients of determination in the maximum effective temperature and the Euro code for 2 year were calculated from R = 0.927, R = 0.894 in a bridge specimen and the bridge respectively. Those of minimum temperature and the Euro code were analyzed from R = 0.992, R = 0.813 in two bridge respectively. Also, the results were evaluated as being very similar, or slightly increased as compared with the maximum temperature of the Korean Highway Bridge Design Code(Limit State Design).

  • This study aims to examine attributes of fandom related to storytelling of media conversion in terms of division of obsession and hysteria from the psychoanalysis. Fandom of crossmedia storytelling represented by adaptation of the original is the subject who experienced a great satisfaction from the original and also the obsessive subject who does not accept easily story transformation by adaptation. Besides, fandom of transmedia storytelling is the hysterical subject who recognizes lack of the storyworld and enjoys such a lack. The original fandom of crossmedia enjoys phallic order in the authority of an original author and the original storyworld, and fandom of transmedia experiences continual and infinite 'other enjoyment' through active and direct experience beyond the linguistic order. This study is a theoretical argument to identify characteristics of fandom shown from both extremes of media conversion through comparison of obsession and hysteria. It is expected to prepare a foundation for understanding fandom of media conversion through complementing qualitative analysis on the real fandom in the follow-up research.

  • Cross-sectional distortions take place when steel box girders a re subjected to torsional moment, as a consequence of which distortional warping stresses are necessarily developed. Additional normal stresses due to the distortion are should be included at the design stage. The relative magnitude with respect to the maximum bending stress are kept less than the specific values, i.e., at 5~10%, by properly spaced intermediate diaphragms that could prevent the distortional deformation of the box girder. However, current design equations for the stiffness of intermediate diaphragms were derived based on BEF. In this study, the area required by the intermediate diaphragm members are investigated through three-dimensional finite element analyses. The results of the analyses indicate that the current equations give to conservative values for the intermediate diaphragm of box girder bridges. Finally, an improved equation for the area of the intermediate diaphragm is derived from a regression analysis from the finite element analysis results.

Relationships among Mental Health, Internet Addiction, and Smartphone Addiction in University Students (대학생들의 정신건강과 인터넷 중독 및 스마트폰 중독 간의 관계)

  • This research was conducted to verify the relationships among clinical scale of MMPI-2, Internet Addiction, and Smartphone Addiction. Participants were 190 college students(male: 95, female: 95) in an university in Seoul. Data were processed SPSS 22.0, using ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and logistic regression analysis. As a result of analysis, first, MMPI-2 clinical scales which showed significant differences between a higher risk group of internet addiction and a non-higher risk group as follows: Hs, D, Pd, Pt, Sc, Si. Second, MMPI-2 clinical scales which showed significant differences between a higher risk group of smartphone addiction and a non-higher risk group as follows: Hs, Pa, Pt, Sc. Third, Logistic regression analysis revealed that Hs and Si among clinical scales of MMPI-2 were associated with internet addiction. Firth, Hs and Si among clinical scales of MMPI-2 were associated with smartphone addiction. Based on the results some implications and importances of mental health are discussed for reducing internet and smartphone addiction of college students.

An Experimental Study on the Stress Distribution in Steel Box Girder Bridge (강박스거더교의 응력분배 거동에 관한 실측연구)

  • It is important to increase the economy and efficiency of the diaphragm of the steel box girder bridge design. In this study, an experimental test is performed in a 4-span steel box girder bridge, which was under constructed according to the dead load of slab concrete and vehicle load. The test result is analyzed to verify the stress distribution of the diaphragm and the middle span. Next, stresses on the vertical stiffener are analyzed according to height. Stresses on the diaphragm with equal height are arranged respectively. Also, the stress distribution of the diaphragm and the middle span. Also, the vertical stiffeners in the diaphragm was studied, and using the analyzed results, the proper length of the ratio of vehicle load with curing concrete to vehicle load with asphalt is calculated in each part of the steel box girder bridge. The results provide data that serve as basis for an economical and efficient design for the steel box girder bridge diaphragm.
