Parameter Analysis for Super-Resolution Network Model Optimization of LiDAR Intensity Image (LiDAR 반사 강도 영상의 초해상화 신경망 모델 최적화를 위한 파라미터 분석)

  • LiDAR is used in autonomous driving and various industrial fields to measure the size and distance of an object. In addition, the sensor also provides intensity images based on the amount of reflected light. This has a positive effect on sensor data processing by providing information on the shape of the object. LiDAR guarantees higher performance as the resolution increases but at an increased cost. These conditions also apply to LiDAR intensity images. Expensive equipment is essential to acquire high-resolution LiDAR intensity images. This study developed artificial intelligence to improve low-resolution LiDAR intensity images into high-resolution ones. Therefore, this study performed parameter analysis for the optimal super-resolution neural network model. The super-resolution algorithm was trained and verified using 2,500 LiDAR intensity images. As a result, the resolution of the intensity images were improved. These results can be applied to the autonomous driving field and help improve driving environment recognition and obstacle detection performance

Structural Optimization of High-rise Buildings using High-strength Steels (고강도강재의 효율적 사용을 위한 초고층건물의 최적설계기법)

  • Recently, the high-strength steel of 400~600MPa tensile strength is producing in the country. Use of high-strength steel member in the design of high-rise buildings is expected to increase the efficiency of structural design in the aspect of structure material weight and cost, however it has been used only a narrow extent. No efficient design method to use high-strength steel in the design of high-rise buildings has been developed. Therefore, in this study structural cost optimization technique that can minimize the structural material cost of high-rise buildings using high-strength steels is developed. The efficiency of the technique is evaluated by comparing the experience-based design for 6 high-rise building examples. As a result, the proposed techniques can save 7~21% of structural material cost compared with experienced-based design. And also, the rough guideline for effective use of high-strength steels in the structural design of high-rise buildings is introduced on the basis of results.

  • The objective of the research is to develop an algorithm for the optimum design of two-dimensional braced steel frames using an advanced analysis, which considers both material and geometric nonlinearties. Since both nonlinearties are considered in analysis process, Optimum design algorithm which does not require to calculate K-factor is presented. A multi-level discrete optimization technique with two parameters that uses the information of structural system and separate member has been developed. The structural analysis is performed by the relined plastic-hinge method which is based on zero-length plastic hinge theory. Optimization problem are formulated by AISC-LRFD code. The feasibility, validity and efficiency of the developed algorithm is demonstrated by the results of the braced steel frame.

  • In this paper, optimal designs of bicycle frame were studied for weight reduction of bicycle using carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), glass-fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) and Kevlar-fiber-reinforced plastic (KFRP), respectively. Based on the anisotropic properties of FRP material, stacking angle and thickness optimization were performed under the safety reference of European committee for standardization (CEN) to ensure the stability of bicycle frame. Finally, performances of FRP bicycle frame was evaluated by digital logic method based on the optimized results of weight, strength properties and cost. Then, the optimized bicycle frame composed of each FRPs were evaluated and ranked by total performance values.

  • Optimization theory was applied to a native and two imported soybeans. Failure stress and stress relaxation curve was measured with rheometer, and color was measured by colorimeter. The effects of each soybean upon the tofu texture were expressed through a non-linear canonical regression model and trace plot. Compared to the other imported soybeans, native soybean produced a higher strength in tofu texture, and showed the positive increase in viscoelastic properties such as instantaneous stress, equilibrium stress and relaxation time, whereas it had no effect on whiteness from reference blend, represented that native soy-bean showed the individual strength upon the selected rheological texture properties. Higher soaking ability in native soybean was selected as a new response for the optimization mixture process, and it contributed positively to the rheological properties of tofu. New soaking process control system during processing and desirability for the mathematical model should be applied for a better mixture design in varieties of soybeans.

  • The present study deals with the optimization of the leading edge shape around a wing-body junction to minimize the strength of the horseshoe vortex, which is one of the main factor generating the secondary flow losses. For this purpose, approximate optimization method is used for the optimization. The study is performed by using $FLUENT^{TM}$ and $iSIGHT^{TM}$. The total pressure coefficient for the optimized model was decreased about 9.79% compared with the baseline model.

  • The optimization of the direct design system of semi-rigid steel frames using advanced analysis and genetic algorithm was presented. Advanced analysis can predict the combined nonlinear effects of connection, geometry, and material on the behavior and strength of semi-rigid frames. Geometric nonlinearity was determined using stability functions. On the other hand, material nonlinearity was determined using the Column Research Council (CRC) tangent modulus and parabolic function. The Kishi-Chen power model was used to describe the nonlinear behavior of semi-rigid connections. The genetic algorithm was used as the optimization technique. The objective function was assumed as the weight of the steel frame, with the constraint functions accounting for load-carrying capacities, deflections, inter-story drifts and ductility requirement. Member sizes determined by the proposed method were compared with those derived using the conventional method.

  • In this paper, the optimization of direct design system of steel frames by genetic algorithm involving advanced analysis are performed. For the analysis of steel frames advanced analysis accounting for geometric nonlinearity and material nonlinearity are executed. The genetic algorithm was used as optimization technique. The weight of structures is treated as the objective function. The constraint functions are defined by load-carrying capacities, deflections, inter-story drifts, and ductility requirement. The effectiveness of the proposed method are verified by comparing the results of the proposed method with those of other method.

  • In radiation therapy, the goal of three dimensional conformal radiation therapy(3DCRT) is to conform the apatial distribution of the prescribed radiation dose to the precise 3D configuration of the tomor, and at the same time, to minimize the dose to the surrounding normal tissues. To optimize treatment volume of tomor, treatment volume will be same tomor volume. Biological considerations need to be incorporated in the intensity modulation optimization process. Planning of intensity modulated treatment can irradiate more 20% in tomor compare to conventional 3DCRT. In lung cancer and rectal cancer, planning of intensity modulated treatment showed optimizing dose distribution.
