Development of an Average Green Time Estimation Model for Proper Evaluation of Traffic Actuated Operation (감응식 신호운영의 평가를 위한 평균녹색시간 추정모형 개발)

  • The Highway Capacity Manual(HCM) suggests estimating the average green time for the performance evaluation of the traffic actuated operation and Provides the average green time estimation model. However, the model provides with much room for improvements. This document proposes a new analytical model that overcomes the shortage of the HCM model. The average green times estimated by the HCM model and the proposed model were compared. A computer program using the proposed model was coded for the study, while the ACT348 program was used for the implementation of the HCM model Through the comparison study based on the 1,196 hypothetical simulation data surrogating field data, it was found that the average green times estimated by the proposed model yields much nicer one-to-one linear relationship to the simulation results than the ones from the HCM model in both exclusive-only and shared-permitted cases. The R2 values of the proposed and the HCM models with those cases are 0.90 and 0.56, and 0.86 and 0.57, respectively.

  • A mugwort-tissue-based modified carbon paste electrode was constructed for the amperometric detection of hydrogen peroxide and its electrochemical properties are described. Especially the amperometric signal was very stable and bigger than any other enzyme electrode studied in this lab. The effect of tissue composition on the response was linear within the wide range of experiment and the linearity of Lineweaver-Burk plot showed that the sensing process of the biosensor is by enzymatic catalysis. And pH dependent current profile connoted that two isozymes are active in this system.

The Minimize of Dilemma Zone at the Intersections Controlled by Automatic Traffic Enforcement (다기능 단속교차로에서 딜레마 죤 최소화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는 신호교차로에서의 딜레마 죤 범위를 산정하고 신호위반 단속의 허용 범위를 분석하는데 있다. 각 교차로 접근로별 조사 자료를 토대로 딜레마 죤의 범위를 산정하였고, 이를 토대로 신호위반 단속에 있어 딜레마 죤의 영향을 최소화 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 기존의 딜레마 죤에 관한 연구에서는 인지-반응 시간과 황색신호시간을 초기값으로 적용하였으나 본 연구에서는 해당 교차로의 조사치를 적용하였다. 조사 방법으로 속도조사는 스피드 건을 이용하여 각각의 대상 교차로별 접근로에서 접근 속도 및 통과 속도를 조사하였으며, 운전자의 인지-반응 시간 및 황색신호시간에 교차로를 통과하는 차량조사는 비디오 촬영을 통하여 조사하였다. 이러한 조사된 자료를 토대로 신호위반 단속기준에 맞추어 딜레마 죤에 관하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 딜레마 죤은 최소정지거리($d_0$)가 최대통과거리($d_c$)보다 클 때 존재하는 것으로 보았으며, 그 차이만큼의 딜레마 죤이 발생하는 것으로 정의하였다. 이에 신호위반 단속을 함에 있어딜레마 죤의 영향을 최소화 할 수 있는 방안 등을 제시하였다. 그러나 각각의 방안을 개별적으로 적용시킬 경우 문제점이 발생하였다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 자기감응식 루프검지기의 위치를 재조정함에 있어 하나의 루프 검지기를 정지선 이후에 존재함과 동시에 황색신호시간을 재조정하거나, 자기감응식 루프검지기의 작동시간을 재조정하는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 3개의 교차로를 비교대상으로 선정하여 각각의 교통환경에 따른 접근로별 딜레마죤의 범위를 최소화하기 위한 대안을 제시하였다.

Development of an Actuated Traffic Signal Control Strategy to Minimize Dilemma Zone (딜레마 구간 최소화를 위한 감응식 신호제어전략의 개발)

  • Most of the traffic accidents are a rear-end collision and a clash generated in the signalized intersection on the local roads. So, it is demanded that the high-quality of signal control and dilemma zone control. According to the cases generated by foreign countries, we established the strategies which are composed of Volume-Density Control, strategy of the dilemma zone control using R-detector (microwave detector) In Japan and EC-DC Control. MOEs(Measure of effectiveness) are car numbers in the dilemma zone , max-out probability in the safe side and the average stopping delay in the progress side. We choose a signalized intersection in rural highway to analyze the effect of the strategies and practiced an on-the-spot survey. The result of the survey is applied to the basic data in the simulator. Consequently, strategy of the dilemma zone control using R-detector(microwave detector) in Japan is the best effective in the safe side and EC-DC control is the best in the progress side. Based on the result, we developed the effective strategy of the signal control . This strategy is composed of the strategy of Japan and the detector on the stopping line used in the EC-DC control. On the result of the analysis, new strategy is the best effective in two sides.

  • 바이오센서는 특정 물질과 선택적으로 결합하여 전기 신호를 발생시킬 수 있는 소자로 구성되어 있다. 감응 물질에 따라 효소 센서, 미생물 센서, 항원/항체 반응을 이용한 센서들이 있으며, 분석 대상 물질에 대해서 선택적으로 감응한다. 따라서, 바이오센서는 특정 물질의 정량에는 우수한 성능을 발휘하고 있으며, 이에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나, 향기, 주류, 음료 등의 다양한 성분이 혼합되어 있는 시료들은 각 성분의 복합적인 영향에 의해서 품질이 표현되기 때문에, 바이오센서의 적용은 한계를 가지고 있다. Development of Left Turn Response System Based on LiDAR for Traffic Signal Control

  • In this paper, we use a LiDAR sensor and an image camera to detect a left-turning waiting vehicle in two ways, unlike the existing image-type or loop-type left-turn detection system, and a left-turn traffic signal corresponding to the waiting length of the left-turning lane. A system that can efficiently assign a system is introduced. For the LiDAR signal transmitted and received by the LiDAR sensor, the left-turn waiting vehicle is detected in real time, and the image by the video camera is analyzed in real time or at regular intervals, thereby reducing unnecessary computational processing and enabling real-time sensitive processing. As a result of performing a performance test for 5 hours every day for one week with an intersection simulation using an actual signal processor, a detection rate of 99.9%, which was improved by 3% to 5% compared to the existing method, was recorded. The advantage is that 99.9% of vehicles waiting to turn left are detected by the LiDAR sensor, and even if an intentional omission of detection occurs, an immediate response is possible through self-correction using the video, so the excessive waiting time of vehicles waiting to turn left is controlled by all lanes in the intersection. was able to guide the flow of traffic smoothly. In addition, when applied to an intersection in the outskirts of which left-turning vehicles are rare, service reliability and efficiency can be improved by reducing unnecessary signal costs.
