The Optimal respiration training based work-related stress relief system (최적 호흡 훈련기반 업무 스트레스 완화 시스템)

  • The purpose of the study is to develop self-management system that people can enhance physical and psychological health through repeating by themselves to relieve work-related stress. The regular respiration can help homeostasis of heart to maintain. Also the effect can be stabilized from irregular heart rhythm by work-related stress. People have optimal respiration cycle to stabilize heart rhythm and repeat training using their RSP(respiration) time including expiration and inhalation. This system is not only offering optimal respiration training service but also finding optimal respiration cycle. The adults who have stress from work participated in verification experiment. This study expects to help those people who are workers related to call center jobs in emotional labor can relieve their stress. It can also help to enhance their own health and increase their work efficiency.

Effects of Emotional Labor, Emotional Intelligence and Social Support on Job Stress in Clinical Nurses (임상 간호사의 감정노동, 감성지능 및 사회적 지지가 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of emotional labor, emotional intelligence and social support on job stress in clinical nurses. Methods: Participants were 123 clinical nurses and data were collected from October to December, 2011 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS 18.0. Results: A positive correlation was found between job stress and emotional labor. Emotional labor showed a significant negative correlation with emotional intelligence and social support, whereas a positive correlation was found between emotional intelligence and social support. The strongest predictor of job stress was emotional labor. In addition, institution satisfaction (dissatisfaction) and the reason for selecting the job (opportunities for service) accounted for 21% of variance in job stress. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is important to manage emotional labor as well as to improve job satisfaction in order to reduce job stress in clinical nurses.

Emotional Intelligence and Job Stress of Clinical Nurses in Local Public Hospitals (간호사의 정서지능과 직무스트레스 - 지방공립의료원을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and job stress of clinical nurses in small to medium-sized hospitals. Methods: Data were collected from a convenience sample of 152 nurses working in 4 local public hospitals in one district. EI was measured with the scale developed by Law, Wong, & Song (2004), and job stress with the scale by Choi, Kang, & Woo (2006). Data were analyzed with PASW (SPSS) 18.0, using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: There were significant differences in EI according to work time, in self-emotional appraisal according to salary, in regulation of emotion according to marital status, age, work time, and salary. There were also significant differences in job stress including somatization, depression and anger according to marital status, work time, and salary. Correlation between EI and job stress was negative. EI explained 17.3% of variance in job stress. Conclusion: The findings indicate that to decrease job stress, nursing managers need to develop EI, especially self-emotional appraisal and regulation of emotion for nurses in their twenties and for unmarried nurses.

  • The emotional interface is essential technology for the robot to provide the proper service to the user. In this research, we developed emotional components for the service robot such as a neural network based facial expression recognizer, emotion expression technologies based on 3D graphical face expression and joints movements, considering a user's reaction, behavior selection technology for emotion expression. We used our humanoid robots, AMI and AMIET as the test-beds of our emotional interface. We researched on the emotional interaction between a service robot and a user by integrating the developed technologies. Emotional interface technology for the service robot, enhance the performance of friendly interaction to the service robot, to increase the diversity of the service and the value-added of the robot for human. and it elevates the market growth and also contribute to the popularization of the robot. Psychosocial Well-Being of Clinical Nurses Performing Emotional Labor: A Path Analytic Model Approach (감정노동을 수행하는 임상간호사의 개인적 안녕에 대한 경로모형)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the influence of emotional expressivity, emotional intelligence, affectivity, job autonomy, social support, and emotional labor on clinical nurses' individual well-being and to provide guidelines for interventions and strategies for its improvement. Methods: The sample consisted of 207 nurses recruited from a general hospital in Korea. The participants completed a structured self-report questionnaire comprising measures of emotional expressivity, emotional intelligence, positive affectivity, negative affectivity, job autonomy, supervisor support, coworker support, deep acting, surface acting, emotional exhaustion, and job satisfaction. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistics 22.0 and AMOS 22.0. Results: The final model was a good fit for the data based on the model fit indices. In the path analysis, surface acting, negative affectivity, supervisor support, and coworker support had statistically significant effects on emotional exhaustion, explaining 29.0% of the variance. Deep acting, emotional exhaustion, positive affectivity, and emotional intelligence had statistically significant effects on job satisfaction, explaining 43.0% of the variance. Conclusion: Effective strategies to improve clinical nurses' individual well-being should focus on surface acting, deep acting, affectivity, social support, and emotional intelligence. The results of this study can be utilized as base data to manage emotional labor and improve clinical nurses' individual well-being.

A Preliminary Study on the Wellness-Enhancing Effect of an App for the Development of the Self-Life Coaching App (셀프 라이프코칭 앱(App) 개발을 위한 앱의 웰니스 증진 효과에 대한 예비 연구)

  • Considering the necessity for individuals to check and manage their wellness to promote happiness, this study conducted preliminary research on the effect of wellness enhancement of the self-life coaching app. Thirty-six participants were randomly assigned to experimental groups 1 and 2 and a control group, respectively. In particular, the experimental groups were asked to perform self-life coaching for 4 weeks using a research app. Weekly feedback was provided to experimental group 1, but not to experimental group 2. The wellness index for workers (WIW) and the Korean wellness scale (KWS) were used as dependent variables. The analysis results of interaction effects between pre-, post-, and follow-up time points and groups reveal no statistically significant effects in both dependent variables, but the tendency of the effects was confirmed. Moreover, no difference was determined in terms of the presence or absence of weekly feedback in the experimental treatment effect. As a result of repeated measures variance analysis on KWS measured at five times, the wellness enhancement effect over time was statistically significant. Meanwhile, the polynomial trend analysis result confirmed the linear effect of the experimental treatment on wellness. The participation opinion survey also revealed that 84.2% of the participants perceived the activity to be helpful, and 78.9% responded that they would use it once every 1 or 2 weeks if the app is commercially available. This study is meaningful in that it suggests a methodology for utilizing the self-life coaching app so that anyone can use it to promote their wellness and partially confirms the effectiveness of this method.

  • 외환위기 이후 IT는 우리 경제의 견인차로 인식되어 왔으나 2000년대 초두의 IT 버블 붕괴 이후 극심한 성장정체를 겪으면서 일부 학자 및 정책입안자를 중심으로 IT 역할에 대한 회의론적 시각이 제기되어 왔다. 그러나, 지난 2~3년간의 각종 경제지표를 볼 때, IT는 여전히 우리 경제에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 확인할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 미래사회에의 대응을 위해서도 IT에 대한 관심 제고가 무엇보다도 절실한 시점이라 하겠다. 특히, 스마트폰의 등장에 따라 스마트폰 환경에 최적화된 다양한 애플리케이션의 등장과 이를 이용한 모바일 서비스의 보급 확산으로 IT 기기 및 서비스 산업의 경쟁구조에 근본적인 변화가 발생하면서 IT 강국이라는 국가적 브랜드마저 위협받고 있는 시점이어서 더욱 그렇다. 스마트폰의 등장으로 국가경쟁력 결정 패턴이 노동과 자본 등 전통적인 생산요소에 기반한 개별 산업분야의 경쟁우위를 기초로 결정되던 형태에서 감성과 창의성 등 소프트 파워의 보유 정도에 따라 결정되는 형태로 전환되었다는 점에서 R&D전략에 있어서도 중요한 전환점을 맞고 있다고 보여진다. 또한, 산업사회와 정보사회에 이어 급격한 기술혁신에 따른 기술간 및 산업간 융합의 정도가 산업 전반의 경쟁구도에 영향을 미칠 것으로 대부분의 전문가들이 예견하고 있으나, 산업현장이나 기술분야에서 실제적으로 발생되는 융합의 양상은 그다지 신속하지 못한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 따라서, 기술간 및 산업간 융합촉진을 통한 전산업 경쟁력 제고를 위한 R&D 방향 모색이 필요한 시점이다. 이에 따라 본고에서는 스마트폰의 등장에 따른 IT산업의 경쟁구도 변화와 글로벌 기업들의 전략, 대응방향 등을 살펴보는 한편 IT의 전반적인 활용도 증가에 따라 더욱 가속화될 것으로 전망되는 기술간 및 산업간 융합시대에 대응한 IT R&D 방향을 살펴본다. 이는 궁극적으로 IT 강국이라는 국가적 브랜드 이미지의 고착화 전략인 동시에 IT 기반의 융합을 촉진시킴으로써 스마트한 IT Korea라는 국가적 미래비전을 달성해 나가기 위한 방향이 될 것이다.

Emotion Labor and Emotional Exhaustion : The Role of Emotional Intelligence (감정노동, 감성지능이 종업원의 감정고갈에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • A new research paradigm is emerging within organizational behavior, in both theory and empiricism, based on the increasing recognition of the importance of emotions to organizational life. This paper suggest that emotion intelligence play a moderate variables in relationship of emotion labor and emotional exhaustion. More specifically, it is proposed that emotional intelligence, the ability to understand and manage emotions in the employee self and others, contribute to effective emotions management in organizations. Four major aspects of emotion labor, appraisal and expression of emotion in oneself, appraisal and recognition of emotion in others, regulation of emotion in oneself and use of emotion to facilitate performance, are described. Also, the emotional intelligence are consists of four aspects, frequency of appropriate emotional display, attentiveness to required displayed rules, variety of emotions to be displayed and emotional dissonance. Then I propose how emotional intelligence contributes to of relations the emotion labor and emotional exhaustion. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of emotion labor to employee's emotional exhaustion to explore the moderating effects of the emotional intelligence between the emotion labor and emotional exhaustion. To complete the research the data were collected through a questionnaire from 147 employees from service company. After multi-hierarchical regression analysis, the outcomes of this study are the employee's emotional exhaustion are affected negatively by the three factors: major aspects of emotion labor, regulation of emotion in oneself, use of emotion to facilitate performance, make the moderation effect between emotion labor and emotional intelligence. These results indicate that instilling in others an appreciation of the importance of work activities: encouraging of true expression individual emotions, generating and maintaining well emotional climate and cooperation situations, and managing a meaningful environment for an organizational life.

Korean Sound Communication: The Message of Korean Gong Sound (한국의 소리 커뮤니케이션: 징소리의 메시지)

  • This paper aims at dealing with the communication of Korean gong sound. It is based on 'music-spirit theory' of Han-Gi Choi and Mead's 'symbolic interactionism', and does this by interpreting the message of gong sound that is mentioned in Korean literature. The gong sound brings out the message of symbolizing evaporation of Korean people's joy and regrettable matters in the playing yard by regulating of breathing according to the steps. By the novel "Gong Sound" of Sun-Tae Moon Korean gong sound has a message of people's joy, anger, avarice, anxiety and sorrow. In Jeong-Rae Jo's novel "Arirang" the Korean Gong Sound includes a message of evaporation of people's regret and raises the national spirit during the Japanese Imperialism. By Jeong-Ja Yoo's collection of poems, "The sound of flower breathing carried by gong sound", the Korean gong sound carries a message of a roar of spirit and breathing of the spring flower. In conclusion, the Korean gong sound is a sublime sound of sky which carries the message of symbolizing evaporation of people's joy and regrettable matters through the sound communication in the open space, and awakes us to a method of breathing with sky.

The Value of the Wonju Origol Nongyo (Agricultural Work Song) and Performance Content (원주오리골농요의 가치와 공연콘텐츠)

  • The Wonju Nongyo (agricultural work song) is geographically classified as eastern minyo (folk song) which has many distinctive, regional features such as tunes, forms and the use of a melodic line. There has been growing attention to the transmission value of the nongyo including the Wonju Eorirang of the Wonju Origol Nongyo and its region of origin. The Wonju Nongyo is of great value and worthy of preservation in the western part of Gangwon Province. For this reason, it seems fairer to say that a focus should be directed towards establishing the identity of the song and increasing the contextualisation of transmission. At the same time, the preservation association's efforts in passing the traditional song down and education activities fairly deserve equal attention. In addition to the way the folk songs are handed down, a discussion on the facilitation of their use will be required. An in-depth discussion about the restoration and use of the song will be encouraged in a multifaceted manner. Unfortunately, few of the previous literatures on nongyo has gone so far as to investigate Arirang as a separate research topic. In fact, the Wonju Origol Nongyo should be viewed as an intangible cultural asset that paved the way for performance artistry of the Korean agricultural work songs to be seen at a national folk art festival. From the perspective of regional characteristics (traditionally termed "tori"), the Wonju Eorirang represents the cultural value of the manners and customs of our locals which constitute unwritten and neglected literary property and musicality of the song. Particularly, a more attention should be paid to making a record of woodcutters and diversity of farmers' small cooperative groups. The existence of the Wonju Eorirang indicates that the melodies to which the song are sung in Nongyo are of infinite variety. A minyo-singer unfolds various journeys of life through various modes and structure of epic chants, ranging from first encounter, love to marriage, realistic problems to relationship with husband's family and death. The epic chant of the Wonju Origol Nongyo contains a rich variety of regional sentiments about life. In particular, the epic chants of the Galtteukgisor and Ssoeltteukgisori are a genius example of sexual satire and a sense of humor. In the past, the agricultural work songs were rhythmic songs served to synchronize physical movements in groups, coordinating tasks in upland farming and rice paddy with the usage of catchy, repetitive verses easy to pass down. The Wonju Origol Nongyo is a precursor of the work songs which took the farming activities a notch higher to be part of the excitement and festivals. In the context of transmission, a festival serves to demonstrate the value of history and life. The value of the Wonju Eorirang should be appreciated and a concerted effort should be made to find a way to facilitate the transmission of the folk song. A folk-singer is a traditional oral poet and a storyteller of minyo and the forms and species of melody solely depend on the signer. The combination of performance and witticism is shown by the singer freely expressing himself. The Origol Nongyo symbolizes ethnic arts cleverly combining playful effects such as tune, rhythm and old agricultural work of the region. It is to be hoped that much of the efforts is directed to designating such folk songs as the archetype of a cultural heritage. In terms of the foundation on which the folk songs are transmitted, the usage(Performance Content) of a community would be an alternative.
