  • 현재의 3차원 시각 정보 제시기는 Scene Graph 기반의 3차원 그래픽스 API에 기반을 두고 있다. 본 연구에서는 시각 정보 제시에 더불어 다양한 감각을 제시하기 위한 통합 제시 능력을 가지는 시스템으로 시각화 시스템을 확장하였다. 이 확장된 시스템은 다양한 감각 정보를 제시하기 위한 추가적인 정보를 가지는 확장된 Scene Graph을 가지고 운영되며, 통합된 Script System으로 각 감각 제시 시스템들간의 동기화 및 통합 관리와 제시 시스템의 확장에 유리한 장점을 가진다.

  • MeLuhan's work has enormous power in the study of media theory. In Lee-Sang's works, we can find out the Macluhan's idea, "tactile" writing, which enhances more than one single sense, we-Sang's pieces, viewed as the origin of Korean concrete poetry, are being reconfigured in modern times. After publication, Lee-Sang's esoteric and complicated poem was considered as the result of schizophrenia. However, in the reconfiguring process, his continuously issued poems were reconsidered as a fraction of visual arts and analyzed as the substances of Korean dadaism and an attitude to challenge. But the real importance of Lee-Sang's poem is the extension of a sense; his poem is unbiased either by visual part or by emotional part, though one sense is extended to another sense. Now you will see the reinterpretation of we-Sang's world from the viewpoint of media, 'extension of senses'.

  • Vision is a process in which the brain and eyes collaborate to enable sight by analyzing light reflected from objects. Vision is also the most crucial among the five basic human senses for recognizing environments. The eyes contain 70% of the sensory receptors in the body, and 90% of the information processed by the brain is visual. Currently, approximately 2.2 billion people worldwide have vision impairments. A recent study estimated that the global economic productivity losses due to vision impairment and blindness amount to approximately $410 billion. Additionally, as people age, their ability to control their vision declines, leading to presbyopia, which typically starts in their 40s. Since people heavily rely on vision in their daily lives, vision problems can significantly reduce the quality of life. Approaches to solving vision problems can be broadly categorized into visual prostheses requiring surgery, sensory substitution based on neuroplasticity, and smart glasses for presbyopia. We present the trends and future development prospects for three key areas of research: visual prostheses, visual substitution technologies, and smart glasses technologies. These areas are being explored with the aim of addressing visual impairments and blindness.

  • Currently, we are living in the era of digital media that puts the technologies in front which is called digital. Based on the characteristic of 'de-materialistic', human senses have been extended more than ever and there is no exception on those influences. Even though the existence of media seriously brought the identity and value of the painting into a question after the emergence of analog photos, advent of digital photos are raising the wind of new paradigms and values creation more seriously than ever. Unlike analog photos of the past which go through chemical process, true nature of digital photo goes through the digital process which is represented by 0 and 1. This didn't bring the loss of the original, but rather brought the creation of the copy which excels the original through retouching and consequently, destroyed the traditional value which is referred as an original. Like this, digital photo image has aesthetics and value of existence which is differentiated from analog photo because it has essentially different structures and characteristics with analog photo.

A study on the Interaction of Immersive Contents Focusing on the National Museum of Korea Immersive Digital Gallery and Arte Museum Jeju (실감콘텐츠의 인터랙션 연구 -국립중앙박물관 디지털실감영상관과 아르떼뮤지엄제주를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to derive interaction types that appear variously in immersive contents through John Dewey's empirical theory, and to explore how the derived types are delivered in real cases. For this reason, two cases of the National Museum of Korea 'Immersive Digital Gallery' and 'Arte Museum Jeju' were analyzed through interaction types derived from the empirical theory. The interaction types derived based on the experience theory are the elements of 'multi-sensory', 'simultaneous experience' and 'sensory expansion'. In both cases, these types appear connected rather than grafted one by one in common. In one direction, 'multi-sensory' leads to 'sensory expansion', and in two directions, 'simultaneous experience' leads to 'sensory expansion'. As such, the core types of communication between technology and humans are not delivered one by one, but a cycle of interaction is formed in multiple ways. Therefore, it can be seen that the interaction type of immersive contents is expanded step by step by fusion of various senses and experiences in various fields, rather than a 1:1 partial delivery method. Based on this, it will be necessary to study how types are expanded and how viewers are affected when interaction is implemented in immersive contents in the future.

The Effect of Sensory Integrative Intervention Focused on Proprioceptive-Vestibular Stimuli on Adaptive Response of Children With Sensory Defensiveness: Case Study (고유-전정감각 중심의 감각통합 중재가 감각방어 아동의 적응반응에 미치는 효과: 사례보고)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of sensory integrative intervention focused on proprioceptive-vestibular stimuli on adaptive response of children with sensory defensiveness. Methods : Subject of this study was a 6 years and 5 month old boy. The subject underwent a sensory integration (SI) treatment which was part of the SI treatment course administered by the Korean Sensory Integration Society, in 2011. The treatment goal and treatment plan had established based on the evaluation results. Treatment was done with 4 sessions and the adaptive responses of the subject were measured as outcome of the SI treatment. Results : During the SI treatment, the subject could participate in activities involving tactile stimulation without over-arousal. He also showed improved social interaction skills and his play was qualitatively extended. Conclusion : According to the results of this study, it was verified that sensory integrative intervention focused on proprioceptive-vestibular stimuli has positive effective on adaptive response for children with sensory defensiveness. For the future study, it is suggested to use standardized assessments in evaluation and provide information in changes of daily occupation as outcome data.

  • 엔터테인먼트 산업으로서의 컴퓨터 게임은 대중의 감각에 의하여 유지되고, 대중의 감각을 최대한 활성화하는 게임이 지속적으로 출시되어야 한다. 게임의 품질은 게임 디자이너의 창작력을 최대한 현실화 시켜주는 컴퓨터 기술에 종속된다. 그러나 현재, 플레이어 수가 수천 명 이상으로 확장되는 대규모 시스템의 범주로 가면, 당장 기술 장벽에 부딪히게 된다. 본 고에서 게임 네트워킹의 특성을 고찰한 후, 산업계의 출시 제품들의 동향을 분석한다. 특히, 기술 개발 경쟁이 심화되고 있는 대규모 멀티플레이어 온라인 게임 서버 동향을 분석한다.

  • 심미적차원의 접근을 통한 영상디자인의 틀을 인간이 가진 오감의 특성을 최대 활용하여 전시상황에 따른 감성문법을 활용하여 감각적이며 사용자중심의 니즈에 맞는 선택적이며 시대흐름에 맞는 패턴분석을 적용하여 감성적인 욕구를 심리적인 방법으로 파악하며 영상으로 접근하는 것이다. 이러한 감성패턴분석들은 VJ(비디오쟈키)의 영상활용과 증강현실, 전시디자인의 광고 또한 건축물에 있어서 효과적인 영상활용법을 적용한 감성디자인의 확장을 보여주고 있다. 오감을 활용한 인터랙티브한 미디어아트에서의 영상활용과 콘서트홀에서의 관객과 소통을 인한 커뮤니케이션장치들이 확장되며 도구들 속에서 진정한 인간의 통합된 감각을 전달하기 위한 감성이 필요하다. 이번 연구를 통하여 감성디자인을 적용한 영상사례들을 살펴보며 소통을 위한 감성디자인의 영상을 활용하여 최적화된 전시디자인에 활용되는 감성적 접근방법과 활용에 대해 이해하고자 한다.

Boundary Extension of Inverted Scenes (상하 반전된 장면의 테두리 확장)

  • The visual system applies previously learned contextual knowledge to facilitate the perception and encoding of scenes. When extrapolation following the employment of contextual information occurs, it sometimes leads to scene memory distortion: people report as if they saw more than they actually had seen. This phenomenon is called the "boundary extension" effect (Intraub & Richardson, 1989). The present study aimed to clarify the effects of contextual information on boundary extension in a more systematic way. Based on the assumption that it is harder to extract contextual information from inverted scenes compared to intact scenes, we presented inverted scenes either during encoding or retrieval to manipulate the level of contextual information and compared the magnitude of boundary extension effect for upright versus inverted scenes. In a series of experiments, we found that scene inversion during encoding, but not during retrieval, significantly reduced boundary extension. Showing reduced memory distortion for inverted scenes, the current study directly demonstrated that access to contextual information is a critical component of scene extrapolation process.
