한국형 간호그룹파워 도구의 타당성 재검증 및 직위별 간호그룹파워와 직무만족 조직몰입, 조직성과와의 관계 (Validity Test of K-SKAGOAO for Korean Nursing Groups and the Relationship of Nursing Group Power and Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment, Organizational Performance)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test validity and reliability of the Korean-Sieloff King Assessment of Group Outcome Attainment within organization in Korea (K-SKAGOAO), and also to explore the relationship of Korean nursing group power and job satisfaction, organizational commitment, organizational performance. Methods: Participants were 481 nurse managers, nurse unit managers or staff nurses with over 7 years experience. Data were collected by post mail and analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, Tukey test, and Spearman's correlation. Results: Content Validity Index was over .82 and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient for the K-SKAGOAO was .97. The mean score for Korean nursing group power was 136.77 among the total participants, 139.89 among nurse managers, 136.74 among nurse unit managers and 132.47 among staff nurses. These results showed high nursing group power in Korea nursing organization in hospitals. There was also a significant difference according to nurse position (p=.003). Korean nursing group power was positively related to job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and organizational performance. Conclusion: Findings show that the K-SKAGOAO has validity and reliability. Nursing groups can use the K-SKAGOAO to evaluate the nursing group power of each nursing organization and to develop strategies to improve nursing power and nursing outcomes.

포커스 그룹을 이용한 임상간호사의 임파워먼트 경험에 관한 연구 (The Empowerment Experience of Hospital Nurses Using Focus Groups)

  • Purpose: This study was to explore the empowerment experienced by hospital nurses. Methods: Focus group was used to gather data and open coding method suggested by Strauss and Corbin was used to analyze the data. Thirty-four nurses who have clinical experience of more than three years at three university hospitals were participated in this study. Results: Five categories were identified: Getting chances of opportunities to show personal capabilities and motivations, acknowledgement, support, recognition and delightfulness. The major sources of empowerment were the acknowledgement of patients and family, colleagues, supervisors. doctors, and other personnels in hospital. Conclusion: Focus groups could be an useful tool for empowerment research in nursing. Further research will be needed to clarify the relationship among individual, group and organization.

한국판 간호그룹파워 도구의 타당도와 신뢰도 검증 (Validity and Reliability of K-SKAGOAO for Korean Nursing Groups)

  • Purpose: The purpose was to determine the content validity of a semantic revision of items on a reliable and valid instrument, the Sieloff-King Assessment of Group Outcome Attainment (Power) within Organizations in Korea (K-SKAGOAO). Methods: The target population for research was chief nurse officers (CNOs) of all hospital within Korea. A sample of 303 hospitals from across the Korea was selected through a stratified random sampling process. A total of 174 CNOs comprised the final sample. Psychometric evaluation of the K-SKAGOAO included: (a) criterion-related validity (b) factor analysis and (c) internal consistency reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficients. Results: The Convergent validity and criterion-related validity were supported. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the K-SKAGOAO was .95. Subscale alphas ranged from .60 to .86. Conclusion: The K-SKAGOAO and related subscales show validity and internal reliability. A nursing group of any size can use the K-SKAGOAO to both assess the group's level of outcome attainment and develop strategies to further improve that level.
