  • The object of this study is to compare and analyze mathematically gifted and non-gifted elementary students in the family system and career attitude maturity, understand the characteristics of the former, and provide assistance for career education for both groups. The subjects include 145 mathematically gifted elementary students (73 fifth graders, 72 sixth graders) and 167 non-gifted students (78 fifth graders, 89 sixth graders) in G educational agencies. Materials for the experiment include amended family system test and career attitude maturity test. While t-test was conducted to solve the first research question, Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to solve the other one. The research findings were as follows: First, mathematically gifted elementary students, compared to non-gifted students, turned out to have higher rates of the family system and career attitude maturity rate and showed statistically meaningful positive relationship. Second, the lower components of the family system and career attitude maturity, there seems to be no relationship between family-flexibility and finality. However, among other components, there was a level of significance at 5% which shows statistically meaningful positive relationship. In summary, this found that the family system is able to have an effect on the career attitude maturity for both mathematically gifted elementary students and non-gifted students. Hence, it need to be considered the components of family system when the teacher guides mathematically gifted elementary students and non-gifted students associated with their career.

SPSS Win 18.0 program was used to perform ANOVA and Hierarchical Regression Analysis. As a result, first, older students had more positive attitude compare to the younger students. Secondly, among family functions, when the family cohesion was stronger, the diversification of perspective, self acception, and social adjustment was stronger, and it was identified that the diversification of perspective, self acception, and self control was higher when the family adaptability was greater. Thirdly, when the satisfaction level of life was higher, the positive attitude was high as well. Fourth, the higher the life satisfaction, the higher the positive attitude, except for self-control, all the sub-factors.

  • This study was aimed at the married immigrant women and was attempted to provide the basic data of the nursing practice useful in identifying the relationship aspects and the influence of resilience factor and promoting the family adaptation. This study was conducted for the married immigrant women who were located in urban-rural complex area around Daejeon city and in Chungnam region, and the multi-cultural families supporting program of community welfare halls among those who had resided over 1 year in Korea. The data was collected from Feb, 2012 to July, 2012 and in the end, 216 questionnaires were made the subjects of data analysis. For the collected data, frequency analysis, percentage, ANOVA, t-test and correlation analysis were conducted using SPSS, LISREL. The overall index of hypothesis model showed a good congruence like ${\chi}^2$ = .06 (p= .812), df=1, ${\chi}^2$(df)=.06, GFI=1.0, AGFI= 1.0, SRMR=.002, NFI= 1.0, NNFI=1.0, RMSEA=0.000, CN=266. Looking at the results of hypothesis testing suggested by the model, the variables which affected the family adaptation were family stress and parenting stress, while social support, family hardness, problem solving communication, and problem solving coping didn't affect the family adaptation. It is considered that based on the results of this study, nursing intervention which helps the family adaptation of the married immigrant women who are in a crisis situation must be done with a program which can help them have a positive view on the stress situation and reduce the stress happening in the family relationship and parenting.

  • This study invesitgated the mediation effect of self-resilience on the relationship between perceived family strength and adolescents' level of adjustment at school. Participants were 479 elementary and middle school students from Daejeon. Data were analysed by SPSS 12.0 and Structural Equation Modeling with AMOS 5.0. Results were as follows: Firstly, family strength gives a direct effect on adolescent's school adjustment. Secondly, family strength is mediated by self-resilience on adolescent's school adjustment. Thirdly, significant differences in the path coefficients of the two groups were not found. These results indicate that we should expand the subjects of family and juvenile welfare, including general adolescents and general families, in order to improve family strength. In addition, programs such as the personal relationship and confidence elevation programs should be enacted to support elementary students' self-resilience.

  • There are three main purposes of this study: (a) to investigate the developmental trajectories of psychological resilience, social resilience, and school resilience of adolescents in poverty, (b) to identify the longitudinal relationship of three resiliences and (c) to examine the protective factors that help adolescents to develop successfully in the face of poverty. Data were drawn from Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS), a longitudinal panel study on Middle school students in the second grade. Sample consists of 648 adolescents in poverty who particiipated in the KYPS. Latent Growth Curve Model(LGM) was used to analyze intraindividual changes in resiliences and interindividual differences in these changes. And AMOS 7.0 and SPSS 15.0 were used. In this study, it is concluded that the resilience of adolescents in poverty is the construct that has uni-dimensionality and multi-dimensionality at the same time. Therefore, in order to improve resilience of adolescents in poverty, protective factors associated with each resilience have to be increased. Those findings have provided various theoretical and practical implications for social workers and professionals helping adolescents in poverty.
