The stratified flow can be seen in the oil and gas pipelines as well as pipelines related to ship's fluid machineries. Numerous theories and correlations have also been proposed in the past for the prediction of stratified flow in horizontal or slightly inclined pipe. The previous researches are mostly about the effects of physical properties, viscosity, phases densities and pipe geometries on the stratified flow. Very few study outcomes exist on the effect of gravity magnitude and large slop angle of pipe inclinations on the occurring condition of stratified flow. In this study, therefore, analytical procedures were conducted about the effect of both the change in the gravity magnitude and pipe inclinations on the stratified flow occurring conditions. From the analytical results, it was found that stratified flow occurred at the vertical upward inclination and at very low liquid phase flowrates in 0.17g and 0.33g conditions.

The need for storage and transportation facilities of liquefied natural gas have increased significantly because of global environmental regulations and recent shale gas innovation in North America. There is severe competition between Korea, Japan, and China for receiving manufacturing orders of LNG carriers or LNG storage tanks. Rationalization of the welding process used in the manufacturing of LNG facilities plays an important role in the above competition. This review paper presents the current global status and tendency for the development of latest welding technologies for LNG storage and transportation facilities. This article intends to present materials for raising the domestic competitive power for receiving manufacturing orders of LNG facilities.

This paper is considered about centerline segregation of API 5L steel used in pipeline. Mn/S, Nb and C were known as segregated elements in the centerline of pipe thickness. The Mn usually was accompanied by S consisting of long viscous shape. Microstructure of the centerline was composed of MnS and Nb/Ti indusions including oxide. The segregation effect in centerline region was analyzed by OM, SEM/EDS and micro Vickers hardness. The Mn, Nb and C are retarded elements in transformation from austenite to ferrite or martensite. These elements could derive a bainitic microstructure as a kind of martensite, which is different from difference and element segregation between in matrix and centerline derived from steel melting and heat treatment.

Methane is the cleanest fuel and supplies by many distributed type: liquefaction natural gas (LNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), and pipeline natural gas (PNG). Natural gas is mainly composed by methane and has been discovered in the oil and gas fields. Coal bed methane (CBM) is also one of them which reserved in coalbed. This significant new energy sources has emerge to convert an energy source, hydrogen and hydrogen-driven chemicals. For this CBM, this paper was written to analyze the geological analysis and reserves in Mongolian Tavan Tolgoi CBM coal mine and to examine the application field. This paper is mainly a preliminary feasibility report analyzing the business of Tavan Tolgoi CBM and its exploitable gas.

Now discusses the potential use and applications of coal bed methane (CBM) in various industries. One of the options for gas monetization is gas to power (GTP), sometimes called gas to wire (GTW). Electric power can be an intermediate product, such as in the case of mineral refining in which electricity is used to refine bauxite into aluminum; or it can be an end product that is distributed into a large utility power grid. For stranded gas, away from the regional markets, the integration of the ammonia and urea plants makes commercial sense. These new applications, if established, could lead to a surge in demand for methanol plants.
Azerbaijan, located on western part of Caspian Sea, has been developed oil and gas exploration and production business from about 200 years ago and once charged of 50% of world oil production in the early 20th century. After Azerbaijan was independent of Soviet Union in 1991, foreign oil companies, including Korean oil companies, have been investing in Azerbaijan oil business on offshore blocks. Productive capacity of downstream in the Azerbaijan is lower than productive capacity of upstream, whereas there are important pipelines, such as BTC, SCP, NREP, and WREP, provide opportunities of the oil and gas exporting to the world. Oil fields in onshore blocks in the Azerbaijan are almost mature oil fields, caused by high recovery rate. Offshore oil blocks are still high potential in oil exploration with high risk.
This research evaluates the sustainability of gasifying livestock manure to produce fuel gas from an economic and carbon emission perspective. The entire process, including gasification, fuel gas purification, and pipeline installation to transport the produced fuel gas to the demanding industrial complex, is analyzed for realistic feasibility. The study is conducted using an ASPEN PLUS simulation with experimental data. The results of the economic and CO2 life cycle assessments confirm that the fuel gas produced from livestock manure is competitive with natural gas despite having a lower calorific value. When used as a fuel with a high hydrogen content, the fuel gas emits less CO2 per calorific value, making it more environmentally friendly. A scenario analysis is also performed to determine the expected economics, with price competitiveness being influenced by several factors. Although a significant decrease in natural gas prices could reduce the price competitiveness of the proposed process, it can still be supported by government policies. The cash flow analysis also confirms the economic viability of the process.

In large-scale production of hydrogen, a PHE (Process Heat Exchanger) is a key component because the heat required to carry out the Sulfur-Iodine chemical reaction that yields hydrogen is transferred from a VHTR (Very High Temperature Reactor) by the PHE. Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute established a helium gas loop for conducting performance test of components that are used in the VHTR. In this study, as a part of high-temperature structural-integrity evaluation of a designed PHE prototype that is scheduled to be tested in the helium gas loop, we carried out high-temperature structural-analysis modeling, thermal analysis, and thermal-expansion analysis for the designed PHE prototype. An appropriate constraint condition is proposed at the end of the in-flow and out-flow pipelines of the primary and secondary coolants and the proposed constraint condition will be applied to the design of the performance-test loop setup for the designed PHE prototype.

This paper is to analyze and study the failure examples of refrigerant gas in automotive air conditioner. The first example, the air conditioner compressor continually operated that the refrigerant was leaked in air conditioner system. By lubrication shortage, the piston was partially sticked on cylinder of air conditioner compressor inner part. This was caused the phenomenon of engine operation trouble by load increasing with engine rpm variation during engine running. The second example, it sought the fact that the air conditioner refrigerant gas was leaked from air conditioner compressor to condenser high pressure pipe toward rear air conditioner checking with the lines of air conditioner. The third example, the refrigerant gas of air conditioner found that was leaked imperceptible from condenser inner by crack that was generated on the fins of air conditioner condenser. Therefore, the air conditioner system that maintain the air conditioner by decreasing the in-car temperature must meticulously manage to not leak the air conditioner refrigerant gas.
This paper provides a fusion technology between a district cooling energy system and an environment conservation policy based on the energy savings and reusable cold energy resources. The district heating and cooling systems are very effective ways for an energy saving, a cost reduction and a safety control. It is necessary to equalize the energy savings and an environmental preservation policy for an improved human lift. A gasification process of a liquefied natural gas, cooling water from deep seawater and an ice water thermal storage system may produce a cold energy. A district cooling system is used to cool an apartment, office buildings and factory facilities with a cooling energy supply pipeline. LNG cooling energy will switch a conventional air-conditioning system, which is operated by on electrical energy and a Freon refrigerant. Coincident with significant clean energy and operating cost savings, LNG cold energy system owen radical reductions in an air-borne pollutant, $CO_2$ and the release of environmentally harmful refrigerants compared with that of the conventional air-conditioning system. This study provides useful information on the fusion technology of a LNG cold energy usage and energy savings, and environmental conservation.
