Recent Advances in Virtual and Augmented Reality for Broadcast Production: Focused on In-depth Interviews (차세대 방송 제작을 위한 가상 및 증강현실 기술의 적용 사례 및 동향 분석: 전문가 심층 인터뷰 중심으로)

  • In these days, technologies of virtual reality (VR) and of augmented reality (AR) have applied to diverse areas such as medicine, defense, education that are closely related to real-life practice. In contrast to the previous applications of game or sports, the technologies of VR and AR tends to expand the areas of applications according to development of the imaging or video techniques. This paper introduces VR and AR techniques and some examples of applications. In addition, this paper introduces how the differences between VR and AR technologies affect to the applications of broadcasting systems. In the last, this paper introduces the results of interviews about suitability and future feasibility of VR and AR techniques for broadcasting systems from korean broadcasting companies.

  • 5세대(5G) 이동통신망의 보급과 코로나19 여파로 비대면 시대가 열리면서 가상 증강현실(VR·AR)을 기반으로 한 '실감(XR·Extended Reality)경제가 본격화 되었다. 가상증강현실의 적용분야로는 게임·영화 등 엔터테인먼트, 제조업, 쇼핑 및 전자상거래, 병원·의료기기, 고객서비스, 지식서비스교육 분야 등이 있다. 본 논문은 VR·AR&교육콘텐츠를 키워드로 최근 3년(2018.1.1.~2020.12.31.)간 중앙지, 경제지 등 54개 언론사 기사를 빅카인즈와 데이터랩을 이용하여 관계도 분석, 월간 키워드 트렌드, 연관어 분석을 하였다. 'VR, AR, 에듀테크'를 키워드로 뉴스 검색결과 63,959건 중 '에듀테크' 검색결과 2018년 632건, 2019년 1043건, 2020년 2389건으로 해마다 급 상승하였다. '(AR+VR)AND 교육콘텐츠'에 대한 검색 결과 연관성(키워드 빈도수)이 높은 키워드로는 증강현실(120), 가상현실(116), 인공지능(114), 에듀테크(100), 코로나19(66), 실감형(65), 아이들(61), VR·AR(56), ICT(35), 빅데이터(25) 순으로 가상·증강현실 기술 발전, 코로나19의 장기화, 교육의 효율성으로 에듀테크 분야의 활용도가 급격히 증가함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The purpose of the research is to discuss the directions of university library services development applying virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technologies and contents. In order to achieve the goal, the research investigated university librarians' awareness and demands regarding to applying VR/AR technologies and contents to university library services. The following questions are asked via online survey method to university librarians: what kinds of necessity and awareness about VR/AR technologies they have, what kinds of competency and environment (infrastructure) are required for the services, and how to conduct continuing education for service development, etc. On the basis of the survey results, the research suggested the matters to be noted when applying VR/AR technologies and contents to university library services. Furthermore, the contents and strategies to be considered and prepared when developing a library program using VR/AR technologies and contents were discussed and follow-up research topics were suggested.

  • With the 4th Industrial Revolution, VR/AR technology is developing, and since COVID-19, the use of VR/AR technology is increasing and is being used in various environments. In particular, AR technology can be used in various educational fields and the perception of VR in the educational field and learning satisfaction, problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning ability when using VR were analyzed. It was analyzed that perception of VR and learning satisfaction had a significant correlation at the significance level of 0.001, and problem-solving competency had a significant correlation between learning satisfaction and self-directed learning ability at the significance level of 0.05.

  • 본 논문에서는 현실세계에서 사용되던 오디오 처리 기법을 가상현실과 증강현실로 확장하는 기술에 대해 제시한다. 메타버스 서비스 구축 등에 활용되는 가상현실 공간을 설계할 때에는 오디오 처리를 위해서 가상현실 공간내 사용자가 위치하는 장면에 따른 소리의 회절과 반사에 따른 잔향 효과를 고려해 줄 수 있어야 장면에 몰입된 사용자 경험이 가능하다. 증강현실 응용에서는 실제 정보와 증강된 효과를 제공하기 위해 가상과 실제 정보간의 위치 정합이 영상 또는 위치를 기반으로 하여 제공되어야 한다. 가상현실과 증강현실 지원을 위해 현실세계 오디오 재생 기술에 추가되어야 하는 기술들과 함께 진행중인 몰입형오디오 서비스를 제공하기 위한 국제표준 기술 개발의 현황을 살펴보고, 향후 추가로 기술이 개발되고 보완되어야 할 부분을 제시한다.

  • 최근 ICT 산업에서는 가상현실과 증강현실에 대한 이슈가 화두로 떠오르고 있다. 본 논문에서는 가상현실과 증강현실의 기술적 성숙도와 적용사례, 최신 기술동향에 대해 소개하고, Oculus Rift를 이용한 게임엔진(Unity3D)에서의 가상현실 구현방법과 Qualcomm사에서 제공하는 증강현실 기술인 Vuforia를 이용하여 증강현실을 구현하는 방법을 소개하고자 한다.

  • VR and AR technologies are recognized as one of important technologies during 4th Industrial Revolution Era. Also, the market size of VR/AR are anticipated to grow up to $150 billion by 2020. These technologies are used in theme parks as well as in other industries including games and films. The purpose of this study is to recognize the trend of VR/AR application in theme park attractions and recommend optimal ways for the future applications. The trends were studied from number of publications while future model was developed after visiting theme parks and interviewing the industry experts. As a result, number of theme parks and LBCs(Location Based Center) are using VR/AR in many of their attractions already, but still holds a number of issues. These issues could be overcome if Fun, Efficiency and Technology are considered holistic ways in the future. Further, conformity of the technologies and theme park concept should also be examined.

  • 'Pokemon Go',which is game program, provides a clue to solve the problem of healthcare in the sense of leading changes in behavior of the users. 'Pokemon Go'is a spin-off of the $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ game series and uses Augmented Reality(AR) technology. AR, which can be said to complement the real world, has been used in many fields such as medical applications, broadcasting, manufacturing, the mobile sector as a wide range of technologies. In particular, the medical field as area of the active application from the start of AR, provides a great help in medical fields, that is accurate medical diagnosis and prevention of unnecessary dissection by synthesizing the patient information and the image of actual patient on three-dimensional data of the sensor such as MRI or ultrasonic wave. In this study, we analyze the VR technology trends, application examples, and the future of VR and AR based medical services in healthcare.

Content Analysis of Digital Reality Contents as a Branded Entertainment (가상현실 및 증강현실을 활용한 브랜디드 엔터테인먼트의 내용분석 연구)

  • Recently, virtual reality and augmented reality technology have been extensively utilized in brand communication. The purpose of this study is to investigate digital reality contents as branded entertainment and content-analyze its format and contents for brand communication. Coding categories were derived to examine marketing characteristics of 300 digital reality contents and key descriptive statistics were presented and interpreted. The results revealed that consumer responses(i.e., view count, like, and dislike) toward Branded Digital Reality contents vary according to types of storytelling. Moreover, perceived values of contents also varied by the types of digital reality(VR vs. AR). Based on the results, this paper discusses the academical and managerial implications of study findings.

  • 본 논문에서는 4차 산업 혁명의 주요 기술 중 하나인 '연결 및 표시 기술'에서 사람의 눈으로 보는 표시 기술 중 하나인 증강현실(AR)과 가상현실(VR)를 융합한 MR기술을 활용한 앱 어플리케이션에서 제공하는 콘텐츠를 이용자들이 쉽게 접근해서 사용할 수 있도록 제안한다. 증강현실을 나타내는 방법 중 하나인 Marker를 이용한 기술을 통해서 관광 콘텐츠를 제공할 수 있도록 프로토타입을 구현하였다. 사용자가 앱 어플리케이션을 통해 Marker를 인식하게 되면, 거기서 관광 관련 콘텐츠를 스마트폰 화면에 띄어서 제공되는 콘텐츠를 자유롭게 이용 할 수 있는 효율성을 제공할 수 있다.
