Development of Variable Guide Vane Actuator System for Testing of Aircraft Gas Turbine Engine (항공용 가스터빈 리그시험용 가변정익 구동시스템 개발)

  • Variable guide vanes(VGVs) that consist of link mechanisms and an actuator system are required for an aircraft gas turbine engine to adjust the incidence angle of stator vanes. In this study, we developed a VGV actuator system for three-stage VGVs with two hydraulic actuators. The requirements for the actuator system were derived by analyzing the link mechanisms and air loads, and a hydraulic power-pack was developed based on these requirements. Through a load test using the actuator test-rig and the application of synchronizing control logic with proper control gains, the actuator system could be developed and verified.

Roundabout Design and Intervehicle Distance Measure for V2X-based Autonomous Driving (V2X 기반 자율운전을 위한 회전교차로 설계 및 차간 거리 측정)

  • To improve the performance of self-driving cars, the introduction of V2X, a communication technology that connects vehicles, infrastructure, and vehicles, is essential. Even if traffic information of the other vehicle is known, the structure of the intersection and a distance calculation algorithm are required for accurate calculations at roundabouts. This paper proposes a design algorithm for a rotating intersection and implemented in Matlab that complies with the national design rules and enables accurate calculations. Assuming the roundabout and the entrance/exit path to be a circle, a method for measuring the distance between vehicles at an arbitrary point was proposed using the horizontal shift of the entrance circle to the main circle. The algorithm could be used in fully autonomous vehicles by designing a roundabout suitable for the terrain by arbitrarily varying the angle between branches and the radius of curvature of the entrance and exit roads, and transmitting a warning signal when a collision between two driving vehicles is expected.

  • This study examined the diagnostics of abnormalities and faults of equipment, whose rotational speed changes even during regular operation. The purpose of this study was to suggest a procedure that can properly apply machine learning to the time series data, comprising non-stationary characteristics as the rotational speed changes. Anomaly and fault diagnosis was performed using machine learning: k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random Forest. To compare the diagnostic accuracy, an autoencoder was used for anomaly detection and a convolution based Conv1D was additionally used for fault diagnosis. Feature vectors comprising statistical and frequency attributes were extracted, and normalization & dimensional reduction were applied to the extracted feature vectors. Changes in the diagnostic accuracy of machine learning according to feature selection, normalization, and dimensional reduction are explained. The hyperparameter optimization process and the layered structure are also described for each algorithm. Finally, results show that machine learning can accurately diagnose the failure of a variable-rotation machine under the appropriate feature treatment, although the convolution algorithms have been widely applied to the considered problem.

Performance Analysis of the Turning Acceleration Estimator, Input Estimation and Variable Dimension Filters for Tracking Maneuvers (회전가속도 추정기, 입력추정 및 가변차원 필터의 기동 추적 성능 해석)

  • Maneuvering targets are difficult to track for the Kalman filter since the target model of tracking filter might not fit the real target trajectory and the statistical characteristics of the target maneuver are unknown in advance. In order to track such a highly maneuvering target, several schemes have been proposed and improved the tracking performance in some extent. Among those tracking schemes the Input Estimation (IE), Variable Dimension (VD) and Turning Acceleration Estimator (TAE) became popular. However, so far their tracking performances were analyzed individually and were not compared. In this paper, the tracking performances of the typical IE, VD and TAE schemes for a maneuvering target are compared. Monte-Carlo Simulations for three maneuvering profiles are carried out and the results are analyzed towards practical applications.

  • 지문 검증은 생체 측정학의 다양한 인증 시스템 중에서 기술의 적용 범위 및 사용의 편의성 등에서 가장 우수한 개인 인증 방법이다. 이러한 지문 인식 과정 중에서 Segmentation은 가장 기초적이지만 이후의 처리과정에 지대한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 과정이다. 특히 잡음이 많은 영상, 회전된 영상, 깨끗하지 못한 영상 등은 Segmentation 방법에 따라 원래의 영상이 훼손될 소지가 많다. 그래서 전자와 같은 지문의 경우, 한계 영역을 가변적으로 설정하여 전경 영상을 선택하는 것이 좋은 방법이다. 이 방법의 특징은 블록의 크기를 잘게 나누어 전경 후보자 영상 여러 개를 만들어서, 그 중에서 전경 영상 하나를 선택할 때, 가변적인 한계 영역을 설정하여, 가장 양호한 전경 영상을 선택할 수 있게 하는 것과, 필터링 적용을 통한 노이즈 제거 방법을 적용하는 것이다. 이 방법을 적용함으로써, 양호한 전경 영상을 선택할 수 있었고, 노이즈까지도 깨끗이 제거하여, 정확히 지문 부분만을 분할(Segmentation) 할 수 있었다.

A Study on the Construction of Littman and Littrow Type Tunable Diode Laser Systems (Littman 및 Littrow 타입 파장가변 반도체 레이저의 제작에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we constructed the Littman type and fixed Littrow type tunable external-cavity diode laser systems. The laser output, which is the 0th-order diffracted beam from the diffraction grating in an external cavity, was the single longitudinal mode. Its FWHM was measured as less than 9MHz. With the diode driving current of 140mA and operating temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, the coarse tuning range of 5.375nm was measured for the Littman type, and of 13.65nm was measured for the fixed Littrow type. A fine tuning experiment in which an external mirror was rotated by a PZT driven by a sawtooth wave was performed, and its tuning range of 0.042nm was measured for both types. The fixed Littrow type tunable external-cavity diode laser system was an improvement on the conventional Littrow type tunable laser system in which the output direction varies due to the grating embedded in the mirror plate.

  • Micro gas turbines are designed with low turbine inlet temperature and pressure ratio. To overcome the efficiency defect of the simple cycle, adoption of the recuperator is an inevitable choice. In addition to the design performance, we should also pay attention to the off-design performance of gas turbines since they usually operate at part-load conditions lot a considerable amount of their lifetime. This study analyzes off-design performance characteristics of micro gas turbines and addresses the importance of the recuperation process doting the part load operation. Comparative analyses have been performed to evaluate the part load performance differences among various design and operating options : simple vs recuperative cycles, single vs two shaft configurations, various operating strategies for the single shaft configuration, and current vs advanced engines. Major finding is that maintaining high turbine exhaust temperature is crucial for efficient operation of micro gas turbines.

  • 고창의 전력품질 실증시험장에서 계통에 연계된 풍력발전 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 풍력발전기의 특성을 파악하기 위해, 가변 풍속에서 이중여자 풍력발전기의 회전속도와 유효전력의 변화가 계통에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 고창의 전력품질 실증시험장은 22.9kV 계통에 전력품질 향상기기(DVR, STATCOM, SSTS)와 전력품질 외란 발생장치 등이 구축되어 있다. 모터와 VVVF를 이용하여 풍력발전기의 블레이드를 구현하고, 유도형과 이중여자 유도형 풍력발전기를 모의할 수 있는 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 선로의 길이를 20 kM로 가정하고, 덕적도의 풍속데이터를 이용한 가변풍속 패턴을 설정하여 풍력발전기의 회전속도에 대한 출력특성을 확인하였다.

  • Because the driving time is increased under the low speed by rapidly increasing of vehicles, this paper is presented a new ignition control system for improvement the fuel economy, which only some of cylinders are using under the idle status or low speed and preserving the engine rpm. is applicable to effective in fuel economy. An actual hardware was made to prove this new control system. The developed variable cylinder engine concentrated the heat neat the cylinders in idle status or low speed, so there was a problem in re-ignition. It was the reason of a lot of exhaust gas, high fuel consumption and instability of engine revolution. In this paper, in order to solve above problem to show the improvement fuel economy using the new ignition control system and valve opening period at idle status of low speed.
