  • Semi-active vibration control is one of the attractive control methods for space application due to its robustness as passive damping system and much higher damping performance than passive system. However, a chattering induced by the sudden variation of damping force at the time of On-Off switching of semi-active control device degrades pointing performance of the on-board payload. In this paper, to enhance the pointing performance of the on-board payload, we proposed a semi-active vibration isolation with a strategy for attenuating chattering effect. Numerical simulation results using simplified analysis model indicated that the proposed semi-active control strategy produced much better isolation performance than the conventional Bang-Bang control semi-active control laws derived from skyhook and LQ theories.

  • Analyzing internal structure, flow rate and dynamic behavior characteristics of electronically controlled shock absorber, damping performance limit is identified to comprise the two reciprocal characteristics of ride comfort and handling safety. Regardless of its lower performance than the active suspension control system, the semi-active suspension control system has been taking interest because of its absolutely higher performance than passive suspension system. Since the pervious studies have been concentrated mostly on analytic aspect and survey on the internal structure of the shock absorber remain insufficient, the main discourse of this paper is focused on analyzing the nonlinear shock absorber which varies the damping force of semi-active suspension system and the dynamic characteristics of the solenoid valve, a sort of pressure valve, and proposing the design factors of importance.

  • In recent years, the demand for wireless devices incorporating several wireless communication systems into one has been increasing in order to provide services that meet the diverse needs of consumers. Wireless devices consisting of various wireless communication systems require many frequency fixed filters. A frequency tunable filter can replace a number of frequency fixed filters in the wireless devices. If a frequency tunable filter is used in wireless systems, the system can be configured more efficiently. In this paper, a 3-pole frequency tunable BPF(bandpass filter) operating in the frequency band of 800 ~ 2400MHz is designed. In order to widen the operating frequency band, a tuning screw is designed to have a step and a linear motor is used to facilitate the adjustment of the tuning screw. The implemented frequency tunable BPF operates in the designed frequency range and has the maximum insertion loss of 2.82dB in the channel band and the minimum attenuation of 18.7dB at ± 50MHz frequency offset from the center frequency of the band.

  • A semi-active suspension is an automotive technology that controls the vertical movement of the vehicle while the car is driving. The system therefore virtually eliminates body roll and pitch variation in many driving situations including cornering, accelerating, and braking. This technology allows car manufacturers to achieve a higher degree of both ride quality and car handling by keeping the tires perpendicular to the road in corners, allowing for much higher levels of grip and control. An onboard computer detects body movement from sensors located throughout the vehicle and, using data calculated by opportune control techniques, controls the action of the suspension. Semi-active systems can change the viscous damping coefficient of the shock absorber, and do not add energy to the suspension system. Though limited in their intervention (for example, the control force can never have different direction than that of the current speed of the suspension), semi-active suspensions are less expensive to design and consume far less energy. In recent time, the research in semi-active suspensions has continued to advance with respect to their capabilities, narrowing the gap between semi-active and fully active suspension systems. In this paper we are studied the characteristics of vehicle movement during the field test with conventional and semi-active suspension system.

  • This paper deals with an application of Magneto-Rheological (MR) fluid to a small size mount for precision equipment of automobiles. MR fluid is known as a class of functional fluids with controllable apparent viscosity of fluid by the applied magnetic field strength. A typical MR fluid is a suspension where pure iron particles of 1-20 (m in diameter are dispersed in a liquid such as mineral oil or silicone oil, at the concentration of 20 - 40 vol%. Electro magnetic coil is installed at the bottom of a variable-damping mount filled with MR fluid, and performance of the mount was investigated experimentally. Furthermore, the Properties of the MR Mount on experimental study were explained analytically by mechanical model of the MR mount.

  • In this paper, we have constructed singly resonant KTP OPO system pumped by 532 nm to obtain broadly frequency tunable pulses. Also we have mathematically simulated frequency tuning range, phase matching angle for 900 nm output and threshold energy, and we calculated output intensity using wave propagation equations for optical parametric oscillator which include walk-off, pump depletion.

  • This Paper studied the design and measured results of a flight model for Ku-Band Linearized Channel Amplifier (LCAMP) for communication satellite onboard system. All MMICs, i.e. Variable Gain Amplifier (VGA), Variable Voltage Attenuator (VVA) with analog/digital attenuator, Branch line Hybrid Coupler and Detector for Pre-distorter are fabricated using Thin-Film Hybrid process. The performance of the fabricated module is verified through Radio Frequency circuit simulations and electrical function test in space environment for flight model at 12.25 to 12.75 GHz.

  • This paper presents investigation of damping characteristics of squeeze mode type MR (Magneto-Rheological) mount experimentally. Since damping property of the MR fluid is changed by variation of the applied magnetic field strength, squeeze mode type MR mount proposed in the study has variable damping characteristics according to the applied magnetic field s strength. In the present work, the performance of the mount was experimentally investigated according to the magnetic field strength and exciting frequencies. The experimental results present that the MR mount can effectively reduce the vibration in a wide range of frequency by controlling the applied electromagnetic filed strength. Viscous damping and stiffness coefficients of the MR mount tend to be changed according to the variation of the applied currents in this study and MR effect is reduced by increasing exciting frequency.
