The purposes of this study were to identify the needs for ubiquitous home services in residential environment of elderly single or elderly couple households living without children and also to analyze the differences of the needs according to their demographic and housing characteristics. For this study, a literature review and field works on ubiquitous home services for older people were performed. Also, 1 to 1 interview by using the questionnaire which was developed by the researchers in this study was conducted and 270 elderly residents in Seoul and Gyeonggi-Do were responded. Seventy-one ubiquitous service items which were adopted to home electronic appliances and furniture for older people were developed for 1 to 1 interview questionnaire. The major findings of the study were as follows: the elderly residents expressed highest need for ubiquitous home service items related to safety and health issues. Among ubiquitous service items applied to gas stove, vacuum cleaner, TV, telephone, sofa and toilet, the items related to safety and health aspects were most needed. And residents' income level and health status were the two major variables to show group differences in the need of ubiquitous home services. In other words, the elderly residents who were high income and frail tended to have the highest demand for ubiquitous home services adopted to home electronic appliances and furniture.

Metal furniture design in this study from the 1960s to the present period of office space by Metal furniture design Metal furniture for social factors in the development. The results of this study and the design tends to obscure the distinction between two different aspects of the design appear rarely common or different forms of expression are characterized by two. This furniture range has expanded to use metal and metal to minimize the negative aspects of a conventional flexible image is designed to suit the tastes of modern design and metal furniture design, interior space, except that now it is considered that the most can be identified.

The interest and expenditure for children is increasing than in the past because the number of nuclear family is growing, the children's space is configured independently in most homes from infancy, therefore, the market of children's furniture is expanding in spite of the reduction in the population of children. There are not many products considering age, gender, and play behavior in children's furniture market in Korea. The bed, desk, chair, and closet for children under 2 years hold a large majority of children's furniture, there are not a lot of preschool children's furniture for the children aged 4 to 7. As the children aged 4 to 7 experience physical, emotional, and cognitive growth at the same time, the space configuration and furniture choice for these children is educationally very important. Therefore, in this study, we present the importance and necessity of playable furniture to promote the physical, social, emotional, linguistic, and cognitive development of the children aged 4 to 7 among preschool children. We found the concept and basic condition of playable furniture to collect the base data for developing playable furniture and provided the basic data for the development of an ideal playable furniture by comparing and analyzing the cases of 157 items of 14 domestic playable furniture companies and 365 items of 30 overseas in aspect of play functions, forms, materials and colors.

This subject is about the study on digital contents development of traditional Korean furniture to find our traditional peculiarity that is disappearing gradually in the rapid computerization. In order to carry out this subject, we established some methodology to industrialize the culture, the style, the manufacturing process and the configuration details of traditional furniture in the form of digital contents with reference to books regarding the furniture in Chosun Dynasty and furniture collection in possession of museum, gallery, etc. This study made a database about traditional Korean furniture systematically to be used as basic materials that are available for diverse culture business as a whole with Korean identity in the future. The contents of this study are as follows: 1) Style of traditional furniture 2) Decoration of traditional furniture 3) Manufacturing process of traditional furniture 4) Configuration details of traditional furniture The contents work of traditional Korean furniture was to secure the identity of Korean furniture from the point of culture and to provide an alternative of modernization by re-illuminating the superiority of traditional furniture in discontinuation from the point of industry.

For these reasons, universal design affect the social art, and design. By applying the field of furniture design, universal design has to meet the needs of consumers. And must utilize to be triggered the development of furniture design market. It reduces the fatigue of the user, desk design gives a comfortable feeling. In addition, to increase the operating speed, with fewer mistakes, resulting in a number of benefits. I want to be a basic data to provide by setting the direction of furniture design through the universal design research. it would be possible if applied to furniture design characteristics of universal design, develop and recover the furniture market has stagnated.

Postmodern designers freely used historical motifs as symbolic expressions or ornamentations. Historical references often became a key to express their ideal against modern standardization. Among the historical references, Art Deco style was frequently appreciated by postmodern furniture designers from the 1960s throughout postmodern era. This study is Intended to explore the way of incorporating Art Deco in postmodern furniture design. Rational Italian designers in Anti-design Movement began to adapt historical motifs and Pop, and this spread out throughout to other Postmodern designers. The research explored how Art Deco and postmodern design are related and what the examples of Art Deco revival in the postmodern era we. In this sense the research mainly covered from the exhibition catalogs from the 1960s to 1990s. As a result of stylistic, symbolic, methodological analysis, Art Deco revival in postmodern era was an essential method to express anti-modern characteristics of postmodernism. In postmodern design, Art Deco was one of historical styles that surpass the limitation o( modernism, at the same time decorative style that express the postmodern ideal.

The Colonial House is one of the most popular styles in America. The purpose of this study is to closely examine this style based on interior features classified by patterns and elements during America's colonial period. Results of this study show that the interior style of the Colonial House was, at first, similar to Europe style. It was then integrated into the Georgian style of England and affected by Palladio as time passed. The interior style of the American Colonial House was based on rationality and practicality in concern with American weather and regions rather than imitation. The side of the roof was clapboard and the windows arranged with symmetry and rules around the entrance hall. It was generally Palladian style and was decorated with classical details. Timber frame of the interior was based on log cabins that appeared early in the American immigration. Furniture styles such as Jacobian, Queen Ann and Chippendale were matched with unique wood-oriented details and folkways like Chest, Rush Chair and Windsor Chair The house was also decorated with pictures, mirrors and ornaments, etc.

With the renewed definition of "office". it's function and role has been reduced. Therefore. home oofices are beginning to draw people's attention. Office within the home is called SOHO (Small Office Home Office). SOHO has become possible with the development of information and telecommunication network technology. Recently. companies are adopting the SOHO system along with the trends of business restructuring. The SOHO offers workers to enjoy more flexible work time and enhance concentration thus improving jop efficiency. Companies will be able to cut down on fixed expenses and increase productivity. In addition. such working conditions will contribute to relieve traffic and environmental problems and furthermore it will make it possible to take advantage of potential workforce of women. the elderly and the handicapped. "Home Office" is expected to be one of the prevailing work system in the near future. Therefore. it is all the more important to study design problems including space design and furniture arrangement in order to improve work efficiency and provide a creative working environment. Moreover. architects and interior designers as well as experts on related fields such as information network. telecommunications. management and employment should continue to carry out joint researches for reasonable home office furniture and environment design.nd environment design.

Rudolph Michael Schindler(1887-1953) has been known as one of the pioneering modem architects who pursued not merely stylistic expression but a true embodiment for the human life. His furniture design is particularly noteworthy in Schindler's building. He designed numerous furniture designs where it serves as a core principal of his interior design of each building. Nevertheless, despite his architectural accomplishments, his furniture design has less been discussed. This research focuses on investigating the notion and the characteristics of Schindler's furniture designs based on his architectural language. For an in depth study of Schindler's furniture, this study reconstructs the archival material by analyzing drawings and by fabricating scaled models to reveal the characteristics of Schindler's furniture. To do so, it concentrates on two things: On the one hand, the stylistic characteristics that have to do with simple geometry, human proportion, the use of material and visual technique; on the other hand, different furniture types. This article concludes by describing Schindler's furniture design that has grown from his unique design approach and its underlying formal and spatial design principles.

It has been true that major investment among local business hotels were placed in furniture design character as there are increasing number of international events hosted by Korea. The study, under these circumstances, as a study In advance to see the design feature and trend of local business hotel's guest room furniture, has done interview with guest room manager, photographing of rooms, actual survey for analysing guest room plane surface, etc., researcher directly visiting 15 hotels that have special first grade businessmen only floor in Seoul. In addition, a survey has been done to know if each hotel room and furniture has particular image, from this survey the design feature of local business hotel's guest room has been analysed, and the result is as following. The result shows that similar pattern is applied in furniture placement of each guest room but for the furniture type and design concept, some try to re-design of wooden furniture available in Lee dynasty and others adopt European style like France and United Kingdom for the realization of semi-classic image. Typical material and color is red oak and maple.
