The purpose of this study is to set up systematically housing adaptation items for the aged family. Housing adaptation items are classified by universal design principles. Also, this paper suggest to basic data for setting up various ranges according to each elderly people's conditions, adapting for elderly housing. Recently, in relation to the growing awareness of the ageing population, the necessity of policies for "aging in place" was emphasized by government. This paper is focused on the policy of elderly housings' adaptation for making housing for a lifetime. This new adaptation items for the elderly housing lead to the revitalization of policy ensuring housing in stock at the local authority level. In this paper, adaptation items were created after analyzing indices highlighted by previous studies related to evaluation items, design-guidelines for safety plans, designing elderly housing. The scope of adaptation items was limited to the indoor spaces of apartment due to the considerable increase of in-house accidents. To sum up, this study is aimed to set up adaptation items and then, to present the basic scheme for several users offering various ranges

The purpose of study is not only analyzes the space images expressed with mass-produced furniture of the time and economy throughout the cover pages of IKEA published catalogs since 1951 to 2015 but also is set to deduct the characteristics of spatial expression regarding the usage of digital media applied catalogs which is to be published along with the 2015 catalog. Thus, throughout research of basic literature such as domestic and foreign academic material, books, and websites, the theoretical consideration of the meaning of IKEA's pursuit of selling manufactured furnitures is foregone. Based on the above, Analyze and organize periodically applied interior space in accordance with context characteristic by understanding the attribute of catalogue from expansion of media space applied new digital media. The importance of research on IKEA is not only the quality of products designed by them, but emotional aspect that deeply penetrate customer's actual daily life. Implication of digital media message to advertisement is a important role in society that shares digitalized information. IKEA's innovative attempt of connection to new world using traditional method of marketing expression and smart device may help people better understand space.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the color scheme based on the color image types through the color analysis of workstation furniture which is on the market. This color scheme of the workstation furniture is expected to be give the comfort to office environment when planning office. For this study, It is selected the three furniture firms that have a brand of office furniture and their web site that is showed color sample of furniture. The following researches are drawn based upon the purpose. First, the color image types of interior space is classified and the color image words that are suitable for each types is extracted based on the results of existing literature. Second, the distribution of its hue and tone is analysed after collecting the each firm's color sample of desk top, panel and chair. Third, the color image appearing in each furniture color is analysed by color image scale positioning. Forth, the color scheme of desk top, panel and chair is suggested by its color scheme palette. The result of this study is expected to help comfortable environment by providing the color scheme for selection of furniture color in work space. Not all color of each furniture is sufficient to be combined color scheme, the result is indicated that the color scheme of workstation by color image types is possible for color planning in office environment.

The purpose of this study was to compare government guidelines and foreign guidelines related to furniture design for elderly. Future elderly will increasingly accustomed to the provisions of improved housing, education and welfare in comparison with our forebears. Also, there will be upgrading and different need for elderly furniture in our market. The results were as follows. The height of bed was based on the height of wheelchair seat, commonly. A adjustable bed was recommended for abled and disabled elderly. A pull-down shelf, drawer, empty space under chest, folding or sliding door in wardrobe and so on were recommended as a elderly furniture. It were good adjustable sink on human scale. There were need the empty space under sink for wheelchair users, one-touch or lever faucet, etc. There have given a little furniture design guidelines for elderly in Korea until now. But those guidelines haven't been considered enough human scale of elderly including wheelchair user. Because the close investigations have not made about abled and disabled elderly for their furniture design. So first of all, the government should be examined elderly physical size more accurately for elderly furniture design. The guideline for elderly furniture design should be for abled elderly and the disabled, too.

The bentwood technique was introduced for the Windsor chair for the first time in the 18th Century. It was Michael Thonet who produced the bentwood chair in Austria around the 1870's, and it has changed the perception of architects and designers since then. The bentwood chair suggested a new and eccentric way of manufacturing furniture and the process of producing materials for it. Moreover, the method of furniture assembling, with screw nails, made a positive contribution not only to the convenience of transport and distribution of furniture to anywhere in the world, but also to the development of mass production of furniture for the multitudes. The bentwood technique of Michael Thonet was developed much further by Alvar Aalto, who inferred a soft curve from nature and developed the beauty of modern laminated bentwood by using birch, a plentiful resource of Finland. This study will help us to understand the functions and process of bentwood furniture, and help to develop technical skills for diverse furniture design. It will also confirm that diverse bentwood furniture design will be possible by applying materials, technical skills and the design process of bentwood according to the characteristics and concept of furniture design.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the antique chair style in Korean market. The examined objects were 235 chairs in selected 30 antique shops dealing with curios in Seoul from July 16 to August 23 in 2002. The results of this study was as follows Antique chairs in Korean market are revival style and eclectic style. The revival style are copied or transformed period style antique chairs. The eclectic style are chairs newly designed by mixing of 2 or 3 different types period style antique-chairs. Rococo-revival style were the most prevalent following Renaissance style chairs in the market. In case of chair back and legs the Classic revival style are made by copying and transforming the Klismos, Hepplewhite, Sheraton, which is a neo-classic style. The Gothic revival style are copied or transformed finial, foil, crocket and tracery which is the Gothic architectural decoration. In Renaissance revival style. Elizabeth, slat, caned, padded, yorkshire, bobbin turned, William & Mary are copied and transformed for the chair back. In Rococo-revival style, LouisXV, Queen Anne, Chippendale of Rococo-style- chair back and cabriole legs are copied or transformed. In the eclectic style, Classic style chair back with Renaissance-style legs or Rococo style chair back with Renaissance style legs are combined as a periodical eclectic style. In this manner now style of chair back and the periodical style of legs were used together as a new eclectic style chair.

This paper aims to examine the fundamental relationship of what principles cause the aesthetic shapes in Korean sarangbang furniture of the $19^{th}$ century. Focusing on the Greimas' isotopic and semantic structure analysis, this research analyzed the traditional Korean men's furniture in four steps; signifier analysis, isotopic analysis, semantic structure analysis, and comprehensive interpretation. The results show that the expressive qualities of sarangbang furniture included visual symmetric aesthetics, and the hues of natural materials with dark tones. The manufacturing process emphasized the characteristics of natural materials; while diversity was respected in decorations, function as restrained form was also important with a concise image. Through these characteristics, sarangbang furniture revealed a balance, a harmony of contrastive elements, and a restrained aesthetics. Within these qualities, it was seen that aesthetic principles, such as "severance and communication," "artifice and nature," "restraint and manifestation," "toughness and softness," "filling and emptying" and "decoration and utility" were in a mutually supplementary relationship. At the basis of this aesthetic thought appears to be Confucianism, which had been the model for seonbi politics and scholarship.

Nowadays living space has been small-sized due to a rise in the standard of living, change of recognition on the increase of housing for the singles, and frequent movements of duty place, etc. and the furnitures naturally evolved assembly and multi-functionality. However, it retuned with an economic charge in the consumers and lost the uniformity in a small-sized living space as well since the furniture depended on the each miscellaneous household goods or products and came to be used. Hereupon it was demanded the system where the various furnitures are to fit to here. This study aimed at this point firstly examined a new environment change which it follows till a small living space is demanded through lots of literature, after understanding the concept of the system furniture, I classified expressive types of system furniture in modern environment and analyzed the design quality and characteristics in it by selecting well-known furniture magazines inside and outside of the country and extracting and analyzing system furniture images which are recorded in advertisements or articles. The objective of this study is to present MMC(Multi Modular Coordination, a system furniture design based on this analysis that inquiring the problems with function, structure, assembly which other existing system furnitures are facing enabled to apply a basic data in unit-module planning and by sampling embodiment modeling by uses.

최근 장식에 대한 관심이 증가하면서 제품의 외관을 다루는 작업의 중요성이 강조되고 있다 이는 색채 디자인 활동의 전문성으로 이어지고 있으며 이러 찬 상황에서 색채 디자인에 대한 개념의 재정립과 방향성의 제고는 불가피하다고 하겠다. 이와 같은 맥락에서 우리나라 색채 디자인의 출발점인 1960-70년대의 색채를 살펴봄으로써 색채 디자인의 적극적 도입 과정과 그 매커니즘에 대한 이해에 도움이 되고자 한다. 본 연구를 위해 60-70년대의 산업 재효의 색채에 관한 문헌을 조사 분석하여 색채의 특징을 구분하고 각각의 색채에 대한 배경과 의미를 고찰하였다. 연구 결과, 우리나라의 제품 색채는 산업화 속에서 제품의 기능적, 시각적인 마무리를 위한 개념에서 설정된 생산과 판매중심의 접근임을 알 수 있었다. 색채는 경제 성장을 향하는 물질가치 중심의 산업화의 이념과 제품에 대한 인식틀 속에서 그 방향성이 결정되었고 따라서 단순한 모방이나 기능적 보완, 또는 시각적인 주목성과 차별화기 기능 역할을 부여 받았다. 이러한 인식은 가전 제품을 중심으로 하는 백색, 소규모 일상용품을 중심으로 하는 순색, 가구와 같은 장식 개념의 제품을 중심으로 하는 자연 소재색의 3영역으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구는 제품 색채에 대한 연구가 미흡했던 점, 특히 제품 디자인에 대한 연구가 외형적 특성에만 집중하는 기존의 연구 태도로 인해 중요성의 인식이 부족하였던 색채에 대한 고찰이라는 면에서 의의를 갖는다.

디자인은 기업의 생존과 발전에 매우 중요한 핵심요소이며, 특히 어린이 디자인은 산업적 측면뿐만 아니라 어린이의 신체적 지적 정서적 성장과 발달에 도움을 주는 핵심요소 중 하나라고 할 수 있다. 이와 같은 어린이 디자인 교육을 위한 어린이 공공디자인 시설의 건립에 따른 경제적 가치를 측정하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 조건부가치측정법(CVM)을 사용하였다. 본 연구는 이용가치와 비이용가치가 모두 높은 어린이 공공디자인 시설을 대상으로 이용에 따른 경제적 가치 측정을 통해 정책결정자에게 유용한 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 개방형 질문과 이중 양분선택 방식을 사용한 조건부가치측정법을 사용하였다. 50명의 개방형 질문방식을 이용한 사전조사와 530명의 이중 양분선택 방식을 이용한 본조사의 분석결과 일인당 연평균 지불의사금액은 약 12,463원으로 추정되었다. 전국 총 가구를 대상으로 한 총편익은 연간 약 2,190억 원으로 추정되었다.
