Strain Hardening Behavior in the Tube Hydroforming (튜브 액압성형품의 가공 경화 특성 연구)

  • Strain hardening behavior during hydroforming has been experimentally investigated. The variation of flow stress was used as an index of strain hardening during respective processes and the flow stress was estimated from the correlationship between flow stress and effective strain. The local hardness after hydroformig was also predicted by effective strain. By using the inter-relationships between hardness-flow stress-effective strain at variable pre-strains, the strain hardening behavior during hydroforming has been successfully analyzed. The comparison of predicted hardness with measured hardness confirmed that the methodology used in this study was feasible and the strain hardening behavior can be quantitatively estimated.

A Research on the Change of Cutting Characteristics in Hardened A17075-T6 Depending on Turning Conditions (선반 가공조건에 따른 경화처리된 A17075-T6 소재의 가공특성 변화에 관한 연구)

  • The cutting characteristics of hardened aluminum alloy A17075-T6 were investigated during turning processing. Under variation conditions of cutting speed, depth of cut, and feed rate, the characteristics of cutting force, surface roughness, and machined texture were investigated. Surface roughness became worse in proportion to the increase of the feed rate. The thickness of material alteration layer which is derived from the effect of cutting force was the biggest when feed rate 0.148mm/rev. This research confirmed that the deformed layer is dominantly dependent on the variation of feed rate.

  • In recent years, developments of light weight vehicle are one of the most important issues in automotive industry. It is important to know the variations of the mechanical properties in the hydro forming process for the safe and durable design purposes. Generally, tube hydroforming process consists of three main processes such as bending, preforming, and hydroforming. It means that the strain hardening histories of final products are nonlinear. In this study, strain hardening behavior during hydroforming has been investigated by hydroforming of engine cradle as a model process. The variation of mechanical properties such as local hardness and strength were used as an index of strain hardening during respective processes. The correlationship between strength and hardness obtained from tensile test has been equivalently converted into correlation between hardness and measured strain.

Physical Properties Effect of Dry-Heat and Microwave-Cured Acrylic Resins depending on the Irradiation-Induced Changes (유도광선변화에 따른 건식중합과 마이크로파중합 아크릴레진의 물리적 성질영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to research the property change of acrylic resins depending on the induced-beam change and research the improved physical property of dry-heat and microwave-cured dental place acrylic resin in order to develop the acrylic resins with the optimum characteristic. As a result of observing flexural rigidity, hardness and color difference, the dry-heat-cured specimens of Vertex RS and Paladent 20 showed ideal property at 5, 15, and 25 kGy irradiation. The microwave-cured specimens of Vertex RS and Paladent 20 showed ideal property at 5 kGy irradiation. The correlation analysis showed a positive correlation among ARD, flexural rigidity (0 418), E coefficient (0.675) and Barcol hardness (0 588). The radiation cure technology is helpful for relieving the contamination caused by the manufacture of polymer composite. It can significantly contribute to the fusion of ultra violet cure technology and nano technology and the improvement of mechanical property without giving effect to the workability of polymer.

Diffusion-controlled Cure Kinetics of High Performance Epoxy/Carbon Fiber Composite Systems (확산속도에 따라 한계경화도를 갖는 에폭시/탄소섬유 복합재료의 경화반응 속도 연구)

  • Using a commercial epoxy/carbon fiber composite prepreg (DMS 2224) as a model system, the cure kinetics of vitrifying thermoset system were analyzed by isothermal and dynamic-heating experiments. Focusing on the processing condition of high performance composite systems, a phenomenological kinetic model was developed by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and reaction kinetics theories. The model system exhibited a limited degree of cure as a function of isothermal temperature seemingly due to the diffusion-controlled reaction rates. The diffusion-controlled cure reaction was incorporated in the development of the kinetic model, and the model parameters were determined from isothermal experiments. The first order reaction was confirmed from the characteristic shape of isothermal cure thermograms, and the activation energy wes 78.43 kJ/mol. Finally, the proposed model was used to predict a complex autoclave thermal condition, which was composed of several isothermal and dynamic-heating stages.

  • Surface hardening treatment is required to improve the wear-resistance of press die because severe abrasion of die occurs during the drawing process in which the forming of the automotive body is completed and during the trimming process in which the unnecessary parts are cut. In this study, experiments on the laser surface treatment of press die are performed. Specimens are heat-treated separately at certain plate and edge position by using a diode laser to carry out suitable surface hardening treatment to reduce the wear during the drawing and the trimming processes, and the proper conditions for heat treatment are found. Spheroidal and flake graphite cast iron specimens are used, and the heat treatment characteristics of the two materials are compared. From the results of the study, it is confirmed that the heat treatment characteristics differed depending on the materials.

Effect of Metal Complexes as a Catalyst on Curing Behavior and Mechanical Properties of Silica Filled Epoxy-Anhydride Compounds (촉매로서 금속 착화합물이 실리카가 충전된 에폭시-산무수물 복합체의 경화 거동 및 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, in order to complete curing reaction of the molding compound comprising an epoxy/anhydride at $71^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours, metal coordination complexes such as cobalt (II) acetylacetonate, potassium acetylacetonate, iron (III) acetylacetonate and chromium (III) octoate as a catalyst were applied to the epoxy/anhydride compounds respectively. The weight ratio of an epoxy part/an anhydride part was adjusted to improve the mechanical properties of the molding compound. According to the experimental results, an epoxy/anhydride compound containing chromium (III) octoate showed a high conversion at $71^{\circ}C$ for 40 hours as well as a proper processability at room temperature among the several metal coordination complexes. For the mechanical properties of the cured epoxy/anhydride compound, the compounds containing weight ratio from 0.9/1 to 0.5/1 of the epoxy part/anhydride part with chromium (III) octoate showed the high flexural strength, and higher compressive strength was shown with increasing of the hardener part.

  • 직물의 경우 드레이프성을 줄이고 KOSHI감(stiffness)을 부여하기 위해 일반적으로 나이프(knife) 코팅가공을 주로 사용한다. 하지만 니트는 워낙 신축성이 뛰어나기 때문에 큰 장력을 요구하는 일반 코팅공정을 적용할 경우 원단이 나이프에 밀리는 현상과 신장 상태에서 경화되어 니트 특유의 신축성을 완전히 읽어버리는 문제가 발생한다. 따라서 니트 코팅 가공을 위해 원단에 장력이 걸리지 않으며 니트 원단에 직접 수지를 도포하는 방식이 아닌 간접 도포가 가능한 장비를 고안하였다. 즉, 아래에 나타낸 모식도와 같이 프로팅이나 over roll 나이프 방식을 사용하여 전사에 필요한 수지를 R/F에 코팅하고 이를 니트와 붙인 후 열풍 건조기와 열실린더를 통과시켜 수지가 니트에 전사되도록 하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 고신축성과 탁월한 포면 터치감을 가지는 니트를 겉옷 및 다양한 용도로 전개하기 위해 R/F(releas fabric)의 조건을 설정 및 코팅 조건 설정을 통해 니트 가공 직물의 성능 변화를 살펴보기로 한다.

Thermal residual stress behavior in fiber metal laminates (섬유금속적층판의 경화 시 발생하는 열 잔류응력에 관한 연구)

  • Due to mismatch of thermal expansion coefficients between aluminum sheet and glass/epoxy sheet, thermal residual stresses generally appear in the FML. These stresses will affect the yield and fatigue strength of the FML. The numerically determined residual stresses in the Fiber-Metal-Laminates(FML) have been compared to the residual stresses measured from the curvature and tensile test methods. These two experimental methods have been developed for assessing the influence of residual stress in FML. Post-stretching process has been applied to remove the thermal residual stress and reverse the stress distribution. After post-stretching process, the residual stress has been measured from experiments. The results obtained show that analytical and experimental data are well agreed. The thermal residual stress can be removed by post-stretching process and it will increase the yield strength of FML.

  • Bipolar plate는 고분자 전해질 연료전지(PEMFC)에서 핵심 부품 중의 하나이고, 전해질 막이나 촉매 등에 비해서는 상대적으로 쉽게 접근할 수 있기 때문에 많은 연구가 수행되고 있다. Bipolar plate를 제조하는 기술은 크게 금속을 프레스 가공하는 방법, graphite 판을 직접 밀링하는 방법 및 고분자/카본계의 press molding 법 등 3가지로 분류되며, 본 연구에서는 3번째 방법에 의해서 bipolar plate를 대량 생산하는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 고분자 매트릭스는 에폭시계 수지를 사용하였고, 카본계 재료는 graphite 분말과 carbon nanotube를 사용하였다. 이들 재료들을 일정한 비율로 혼합한 후 differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)를 사용하여 열분석 하였고, 그 결과를 Kissinger equation에 대입하여 경화반응 속도론을 연구하였다. 또한, 경화된 에폭시/탄소 복합재료의 전기전도도, 유리전이온도, 표면에너지 특성 등을 분석하였다.
