  • This study poses questions on the role of a movie sequences partially deployed in the comic strips style in the movie. Though both the movie and the comic strips's image is expressed in the flat space, it is different to the reciever's manner in the interpretation of the media's narrative. Comic strip has a media's characteristic of the aggressive interpretation. It can be create the objective and critic point of view for an audience as the visual style in the ideology movie. Comic strip Style has a flat frame, a form of comic strip's mise-en-scene, montage and camera working. This paper studies expression of 'La Chinoise' using 'Comic strip style' for the objective point of view.

  • The achievements of the medieval mappaemundi should be evaluated on their own terms and in the context of their purpose. Medieval mappaemundi expressed christian world view which reflected Augustinian theology. These Christian world view and Greek and Roman classical geography were combined to form the cultural barkground of the medieval mappaemundi. These maps had a function to organize physical space according to religious principles. The Christian concept of the world as a temporal phenomenon, derived from the simultaneous creation of time and space as described in St. Augustin's theology was represented in these maps. The purpose of this paper is to consider geographic characteristics of earthly paradise expressed in medieval mappaemundi and their cartographic characteristics. For this, firstly, we reviewed medieval Christian scholars' opinions on earthly paradise. Secondly, centered on geographic location and representation method, we examined cartographic characteristics of medieval paradise mapping, Thirdly, we considered the shift of paradise according to chronological change. Fourthly, we examined the reason why earthly paradise disappeared from world map after fourteenth century.

  • In the medical field, for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of diseases, building knowledge base has received a lot of attention. The most important thing to build a knowledge base is representing the knowledge accurately. In this paper we suggest a knowledge representation method using Ontology technique with the datasets obtained from the domestic papers on Alzheimer disease that has received a lot of attention recently in the medical field. The suggested Ontology for Alzheimer disease defines all the possible classes: lexical information from journals such as 'author' and 'publisher' research subjects extracted from 'title', 'abstract', 'keywords', and 'results'. It also included various semantic relationships between classes through the Ontology properties. Inference can be supported since our Ontology adopts hierarchical tree structure for the classes and transitional characteristics of the properties. Therefore, semantic representation based query is allowed as well as simple keyword query, which enables inference based knowledge query using an Ontology query language 'SPARQL'.

  • Sumi-e is one of the art work that uses not only ink line but also color painting. This technique is well known as a representative Asian painting style and widely used in movie, advertisement poster and various effect in camera device. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can generate result image with Sumi-e effects of example image based on computer graphics and image processing techniques. For this, we pass two steps. The first is painting expression step. We used texture transfer technique to generate result with texture effect of reference image by analyzing numerically. The second step is ink-painting effect generation step. We express ink-painting effect in outline by considering intensity variation in edge of example image. Our algorithm can express various Sumi-e style based on selected reference image. So it can be utilized to various contents generating research.

  • Match cut is the montage technique that is widely used in the image media. This technique is versatile to generate the receivers a variety of meanings. In this article, the match cut shorts applied in the movie, Bram Stoker's Dracula, were analyzed based on the meanings occurred between the shorts. In addition, the analysis methods were based on the philosophical issues of Gilles Deleuze which had been analyzed focusing on the generation competency. Also, Francis Bacon's paintings, 'painting' (1946) and 'self-portrait' (1969) demonstrating similar meanings were compared to assist understanding. Upon the analyses of these two media, the meanings of 'becoming' that had the feature of nomadism between the shorts and occurred in the process of combined generation were analyzed. Therefore, match cut occurred in the image media was found to function to the receivers in a variety of ways and the degree of its utilization was not limited upon this analysis.

  • The image distortion field has been studied and applied variously in the fields of engineering and art. This research is to express artistic sense by using the engineering technology on image distortion. In order to do this, the paper first examines the aesthetic interpretations on artistic expressions of image distortion. Then, it explains that image distortion using magnetic force can be an artistic expression method and includes user immersion elements. In addition, it demonstrates that image distortion can be used as an artistic emotional expression based on interaction. This research will contribute to the production and development of creative emotional contents through the convergence of scientific technology and art.

  • The present study tested a hypothesis that mood awareness and emotional expressivity would attenuate the association between academic stress and adjustment. In support of the hypothesis, the present research showed that emotional expressivity moderated the association between academic stress and adjustment among college students. That is, the association was attenuated by emotional expressivity when academic stress was high more than when academic stress was low. Curiously, we also identified an interesting diversion between two factors of mood awareness. Specifically, mood monitoring moderated the negative association between academic stress and adjustment, whereas mood labeling did not. That is, mood monitoring was particularly effective when academic stress was high, but mood labeling showed substantial benefits regardless of the level of academic stress. Overall, the present results suggest that mood awareness (in particular, mood labeling) and emotional expressivity serve as cognitive and behavioral protective factors that can buffer academic stress among college students.

  • This study aimed to identify the convergence factor where social support, self-esteem, and job stress affect the type of anger expressions in dental hygienists. The study involved 402 hygienists from different dental institutions. Clustering analysis was carried out to classify the types, and logistics regression analysis to find the related factors. Based on the types of anger expressions found in dental hygienists, they were divided into an anger control group and anger out-in group, with the former comprising 233 participants (58%). The results show that those with higher self-esteem (OR=5.592) and enjoying greater social support from their colleagues (OR=1.172) tend to belong to the anger control group. In other words, the study suggests that dental hygienists can control anger better with higher self-esteem and stronger social support from colleagues.
