Hangout is already recognized as a world famous writing system. However, the typefaces that may show the excellence of Hangeul lack the systemic development, and their frequent change without independence rather causes an obstruction to the development of visual culture and informational systematization of the country. In this paper, I presume that the core of this obstruction is caused by a lack of successful inheritance of the creation philosophy and principle of Hangeul. In order to prove this premise definitively, I saw Hangul from the viewpoint of design, and suggested the base and objectivity to solve the problem by systematically define the excellence of Hangeul. In this paper, 1 confirmed that the creation philosophy and principle of Hangeul had the design philosophy that was appropriate for social and cultural background of that time, and went through rational design process. Therefore, as I mentioned earlier, the due for the problem with Hangeul typefaces can be found when it is handled based on the creation philosophy and principle. Furthermore, the creation of Hangeul can be explained as a creation of rational and scientific letter as a method of easier communication between different people and nations. Therefore, the study of the design method and principle used in the process of Hangul creation may provide the new base for the methodology of visual communication design, and it may be a core research subject to find the root of Korean design philosophy.

Machines and robotic structures are questioning existential bases of human beings. They influence our way of thinking and transform our social philosophies and value systems. The same time they keep their fascination ever since. Mechanical technique and skills are symbols for development and hazard at the same time. The attraction of this ambivalence is reviewed in this thesis by having a look at kinetic elements in modern sculpture. The author is focusing on classical sculptural positions that use machines or machinery within sculptural artworks. The historical development is examined and certain examples from the classical modern era are discussed as role models during their time. On this scenario, the portraits of two young contemporary outstanding positions in the field of kinetic art and installation are analyzed and explained. One of the goals was to investigate the eastern and the western language of two artists that are doing artworks in the same field and compare the works and the cultural expressions to each other. Different cultural positions and visual languages become visible due to the research. And the author's final conclusions is, that even in a globalized world there will always be significant local distinguishes remaining.

One of major potato viruses is Potato virus Y (PVY) in Korea. In the southern part of Korea, potatoes have been grown as double crops in a year by using cv. 'Dejima' and 'Chubak' due to very short dormancy. However, they have caused a serious problem such as a rapid degeneration. It has been thought that the degeneration is affected by the high incidence of PVY in neighboring potato fields. Therefore, the investigation of factors causing the degeneration is very important in the production of healthy seed potato. In this study, the PVY reinfection rates of several potato varieties and the different seed sources of cv. 'Chubak' have been investigated. Results show that the lowest infection rate of PVY among four potato cultivars derived from minitubers is cv. 'Superior'. The others are in order of 'Dejima', 'Atlantic' and 'Chubak'. Also, the incidences of PVY differ significantly when several seed sources are examined. When the seed potatoes (G2, the progeny of microtuber) as spring potato crops are planted in area without potato field nearby, the infection rate of PVY is as low as that of microtubers. However, PVY incidence in the progenies of minitubers as fall potato crops largely increases. Therefore, the best way of potato production under double cropping system is to use the healthy seed potato produced in area without potato field and plant relatively resistant cultivar such as Dejima.

The role of positron emission tomography (PET) with F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-18 FDG) in the diagnosis of hepatocellulcar carcinoma (HCC) has been limited because of a variable FDG uptake in HCC. However, the usefulness of PET/CT for detecting extrahepatic metastasis and monitoring of the treatment response in HCC has been reported. A 55-year-old man with a hepatitis B surface antigen-positive, was admitted to our hospital due to dyspnea, general weakness and body weight loss for one month. Chest X-ray showed multiple reticulo-nodular densities on both lower lung fields, which implies metastatic lesions. F-18 FDG PET/CT revealed consecutively intense hypermetabolic mass in right hepatic lobe, inferior vena cava and right atrium. We report a case of HCC with IVC and right atrium invasion identified by F-18 FDG PET/CT.

Objectives: This study was undertaken to evaluate anti-glycemic and anti-lipid effects of Supungsunkihwan-gagambang, which is composed of Cornus officinalis, Dioscorea Batatas Decaisne, Auantii fructus and Platicodon grandiflorum. Methods: Diabetes was induced in ICR male mice ($24{\pm}1g$) with Surwit's high fat and high sucrose diet. Mice were divided into 3 groups (n=10) of normal, control and Supungsunkihwan-gagambang. The Supungsunkihwan-gagambang group was given 5% herbal medicine in their diet. The animals were fed on each experimental diet for 8 weeks. Body weight was assessed every week. At the 7th week, the fasting blood sugar (FBS) and oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) were conducted in all experimental groups. After 8 weeks, fructosamine, lipid profile, epididymal fat weight, liver weight and white adipose tissue (WAT) size were measured. Results: Supungsunkihwan-gagambang significantly reduced FBS, OGTT and fructosamine. It also increased high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and significantly reduced triglyceride/HDL cholesterol ratio, total cholesterol/HDL cholesterol ratio and WAT size. Conclusions: These results show that Supungsunkihwan-gagambang improves anti-glycemic and anti-lipid effect in high fat diet-induced obese mice. Therefore we suggest that Supungsunkihwan-gagambang could be an effective treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes.

Campbell, 11 of the 17 stage dramas to apply different levels, and the omission of two steps, and shows a variation of the four stages, in order to relaunch the popular culture as the content selection and a constant strain was able to find out that you need.

The purpose of this study is to explore the Iranian Woman Film Director Samira Makhmalbaf and her cinema world. Samira represents Iranian Islamic social problem base on her woman identity, and She is a symbolic director who is working Iranian new wave at the 21th. She has directed five movies as (1998), (2000), (2002), (2003), (2008). For this study, explore traits of esthetics, subject and context meaning by analyzing representative three movies. Lastly examines significance of his movies in Iranian film history. In terms of esthetics, she tends to combinate between metaphor and reality, And, In thematic consciousness, consistently describes Islamic women's lives and liberty, anti-war and peace, sympathy for the under-privileged, etc. She inherits the tradition of Iranian third wave 'Children Cinema', and simultaneously tries to overcome Iranian art film tradition. Director Samira Makhmalbaf is a symbol of progress and change in Iranian film history, and is opening the new future of Iranian film.

Modern metal craft is losing our tradition and personality with simple expressive methods and limited techniques without artistry with the purpose of mass production. In order for development of modern metal craft and to succeed our unique culture, there is a need to consider traditional craft techniques that have been delivered since the ancient. Inlay craft requires high concentration and technology, and it is typical traditional metal craft techniques that show contemporary culture and ideas well. the period of the Three States was the time when inlay technique was introduced the first, and it can be seen in Baekje, Gaya and Silla. Furthermore, when inlay craft is applied for modern metal craft, a possibility was found to grant artistic expression and historical value of our unique artistic expression and historical value. For this purpose, it is expected to establish development of modern metal craft and our unique individuality firmly when continuously seeking practical measures that can accept contemporary crafts and expanding opportunities of education to learn traditional techniques.

This study analyzes the animal symbolism shown in the novella by Hyoseok Lee and seeks to shed light on the consciousness of the author expressed through such symbolism. Lee used animal symbolism since 1933 which was a literary turning point for him. Animal symbolism in his novels are more than an analogical theme but is used as a core meaning and image. This has a clear intention of the author underneath. Novella which is seen as the starting point of pure literature for Lee, uses the animal pig as a key symbol. The pig serves as a symbol of the capital for poor farmers, while also serving as an amplifier for the desires of the protagonist. The death of the pig that appears at the closing of the novella stands for the tragic reality of the farmers of the time who could not seek growth in their capital or realization of their desires. As such, has characteristics of pure literature but also represents the consciousness of the author who brings attention to the tragic reality of farmers. That is, is a work that realized the unique writing style of Lee and his animal symbolism to bring to life a middle way appraoch to realism and romanticism.
