Comparative analysis was conducted according to three school student groups(elementary childrens, middle school students, high school students). The subjects were 1,886 school students(female 893, male 959) of 51 schools in nationalwide region. The Distribution of subjects was elementary school childrens 544, middle school students 661 and high school students 681. The results are summarized as follows. Only Sixty percent of the subjects had breakfast regularly. About one forth of the subjects had the habit of skipping breakfast or eating 2-3 times per week. Pricipal reasons of skipping breakfast were 'busy'(50.7%) and 'not delicious or poor appetite'(31.0%). Regularity of having breakfast and reasions of skipping breakfast were significant differences according to school student groups(p<0.001 respectively). About half of the subjects didn't have sufficient amounts in breakfast. Most subjects(92.1%) had lunch regularly by virtue of school lunch service. One forth of the subjects had dinner irregularly. Pricipal reasons of skipping dinner were 'not delicious'(41.7%), 'busy'(15.1%) and 'weight loss'(14.3%). Regularity of having dinner and reasons of skipping dinner were significant differences according to school student groups(p<0.01, p<0.001 respectively). The most delicious meal was dinner in 56.7% of the subjects and lunch in 37.1% of the subjects. There was significant difference in recognition of most delicious meal according to school student groups(p<0.001). Only ten percent of the subjects thought that nutrition education was not needed. Diettitian was recognized as nutrition educator in sixty percent of the subjects. Only 5 percent of the subject recognized teacher as nutrition educator. There were not significant differences in most delicious meal and nutrition educator according to operation type of school lunch service. The findings suggested continuous attention and guidance for healthy dietary life and necessity of nutrition education for both school students and their parents.

  • To investigate the plant community structure in Gunpo Experimental Forest of Mt. Suri, Kyonggi-do, sixty-four plots were set up and surveyed. By DCA ordination technique, sixty-four plots were divided into seven groups. The dividing groups were * Pinus rigitaeda community, P. densiflora community, P. densiflora-Quercus mongolica community, Q. variabilis community, Q. aliena comunity, Q. serrata community, Carpinus laxiflora community. Though the successional trend of seven communities by DCA ordination technique and DBH class distribution analysis was not clearly inferred, * Pinus rigitaeda community and P. densiflora-Q: mongolica community seems to be trended from present state to Q. spp. community. P. densiflora community, Q. variabilis community, Q. aliena community and Q. serrata community seems to be maintained preaent state and C. laxiflora community will be maintainde stable state. Shannon's diversity was 0.7430~1.3025(unit area: 300m$^{2}$) and soil acidity was pH 4.16~5.13 in surveyed areas.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the cephalometric characteristics of the open-bite patients with DJD of TMJ. The DJD open-bite cases were compared with normal samples and Class II open-bite cases with normal TMJ respectively. Twenty three open-bite patients with bilateral DJD of TMJ($13.9\~35.3$ yens old, Group I) were selected from the Department of Orthodontics, SNUDH. Group ll consisted of thirteen Class II open-bite cases($13.2\~27.4$ years old) with no TMD signs/symtoms and good condylar shapes. Group III samples were the forty eight healthy dental students who have Class I molar relationships with no history of orthodontic treatment, good facial balance and no TMD symptoms($20.0\~26.8$ years old). First, sixty measurements in the lateral cephalometric radiographs and analysis of variance(P<0.05, Scheffe) were used to compare these three groups. The seven measurements showed significant difference(p<0.05) between Group I and Group II. After analysis of variance, six of them were used for the discriminant analysis(Wilks' stepwise analysis) and the discrminant function for Group I/Group II was obtained. The results and conclusions were as follows : In most of the measurments, Group I and Group II showed the same skeletal and dental characteristics. But seven of the sixty measurements(FH-PP angle, SNB, FH-ArGo angle, articulare angle, genial angle, upper gonial angle and Ar-Go length) were significantly different(p<0.05) between Group I and Group II. These differences may be explained by the fact that in DJD cases the mandible rotated backward due to the shortening of the ramus following the degenerative destruction of condylar head and its surrounding structures. The resulting discriminant function was : $D={-0.120X}_1+{0.066X}_2+{0.144X}_3-{0.058X}_4+2000,\;where\;X_1=ArGo\;length(mm),\;X_2=SArGo\;angle(degree),\;X_3=FH-PP\;angle(degree),\;X_4=Gonial\;angle(degree)$. Mean of the group centroids was -0.555 and percent of the 'grouped' cases correctly classified was $88.89\%$.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of resin cements and ceramic etching on shear bond strength of Empress 2 ceramic and observe the change of microstructure of ceramic according to etching time. Sixty-six square ceramic specimens($6{\times}6{\times}1.5mm$) were prepared. 6 specimens were etched with different etching times(0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 60 seconds) and observed by means of a scanning electron microscope(SEM). Other sixty specimens were divided into 6 groups with 10 specimens in each group. 3 groups were etched with 4% hydrofluoric acid and each groups was bonded with 3 resin cements(Variolink II, Super-Bond C&B, Panavia F). Each specimen was subjected to a shear load in an Instron at a cross-head speed of 0.5mm/min and was observed with SEM after mechanical testing to establish modes of failure. The results were as follows : 1. Within etched groups, Variolink II and Super-Bond C&B exhibited significantly greater bonding strengths than Panavia F(p<0.05) 2. Bond strength of etching groups had three to five times greater than that of no-etching groups. 3. All of no-etching groups showed adhesive failure and etching groups mostly showed mixed failure. And, 20-second etching specimen showed the most distinct lithium disilicate crystal. so it is considered that 20-second etching is optimal time for bonding.
