The effects of $Yanggn\bar{u}ngch'\check{o}n(G34)$ acupuncture on the muscle fatigue (양릉천(陽陵泉) 자침(刺針)이 근피로에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The aim of this stuty is to investigate the effect of acupuncture at $Yanggn\bar{u}ngch'\check{o}n$ (G34) on the muscle fatigue. Methods : Subjects were asked to perform the elbow flexion and extension to induce the muscle fatigue. Sample group of 16 healthy subjects had acupuncture on $Yanggn\bar{u}ngch'\check{o}n$ (G34) during the resting time, while control group of 13 healthy subjects did not. Surface electromyography (sEMG) was measured after exercise and rest to record muscle fatigue. Results : Acupuncture at $Yanggn\bar{u}ngch'\check{o}n$ (G34) is effective for decreasing the muscle fatigue.

Analysis of the Mean Uranium Valence of $U_{1-y}Er_{y}O_{2{\pm}x}$ Solid Solutions in terms of Lattice Parameter and Oneen Potential (격자상수 및 산소포텐샬에 의한 $U_{1-y}Er_{y}O_{2{\pm}x}$ 고용체의 평균우라늄원자가 분석)

  • The lattice parameters of stoichiometric $UO_2$ and $U_{1-y}Er_{y}O_2$ in the range of y=0.01 to y =0.33 were determined with use of X-ray diffraction data. Oxygen potentials have been measured by means of a thermogravimetric method in the range of 1200~$1500^{\circ}C$ and $10^{-14}$ $\leq$ $Po_2$ $\leq$ $10^{-3}$ for pure $UO_2$ and $U_{1-y}Er_{y}O_{2{\pm}x}$ solid solutions with y=0.02, y=0.06 and y=0.20, respectively. Their oxygen partial pressures were maintained by controlling $CO_2$/CO mixture atmosphere, and the $Po_2$ values corresponding to x of $U_{1-y}Er_{y}O_{2{\pm}x}$ solid solutions were measured with an electrolyte oxygen sensor. The lattice parameter decreases linearly with an increase in the erbium content. The change of the lattice parameter can be expressed in a linear equation of y as a($\AA$) =5.4695-0.220y for 0 $\leq$y$\leq$0.33. The experimental coefficient of y -0.220 in $U_{1-y}Er_{y}O_2$ was an intermediate value between the calculated values -0.273 and -0.156 in the case of $U^{5+}$ and $U^{6+}$, respectively. The (equation omitted) has been found to undergo abrupt increase in the range of -360 to -270 kJ/mole for y=0.06 and -320 to -220 H/mole for y=0.20, respectively, in the temperature range of 1200-$1500^{\circ}C$. (equation omitted) increases with erbium content, but the effect of the dopant for x =0.01 is less significant than that for stoichiometry. The oxygen potentials for $UO_2$ and $U_{0.98}Er_{0.02}O_{2+x}$ can be approximately represented by the $U^{5+}$/$U^{4+}$ model but those for y$\geq$ 0.06 in $U_{1-y}Er_{y}O_{2{\pm}x}$ solid solutions cannot be interpreted by the mean uranium valence model.

  • In this discussion, as a way to verify the existence of the system to regulate Zhou dynasty's $z{\bar{o}}ng-mi{\grave{a}}o$(宗廟) numbers, the discussion was focused on '$mi{\grave{a}}o$ (廟)' and '$g{\bar{o}}ng$(宮)' in the records of "$Ch{\bar{u}}n-qi{\bar{u}}$(春秋)". As for the parts where the contents of scripture sentences were not specific, the context of the case was investigated through the writings in "$Zu{\breve{o}}-zhu{\grave{a}}n$(左傳)" and other materials. In the cases of the usage of the letter, '$mi{\grave{a}}o$(廟 : a ruler's house, a nation's royal court)', in the scripture sentences in "$Ch{\bar{u}}n-qi{\bar{u}}$(春秋)", the followings need to be noticed. In $t{\grave{a}}i-mi{\grave{a}}o$(太廟) of State $L{\check{u}}$(魯), nationwide events and a ruler's political ancestral rite, $d{\grave{i}}$(?) ritual, were performed, and fancy tools for ancestral rites used in those rituals were equipped. As for the $z{\bar{o}}ng-mi{\grave{a}}o$(宗廟) of a ruler of those times, a ritual of royal court, $ch{\acute{a}}o$(朝) rite, was performed. The usage case of the letter, '$g{\bar{o}}ng$(宮 : house)', is as the following. In $g{\bar{o}}ng$(宮) where a ruler's personal family lived was a family ancestral rite for them carried out. The record about the ornate decorating for the $hu{\acute{a}}n-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(桓宮), which can be said to have been the political base of $s{\bar{a}}n-hu{\acute{a}}n-sh{\grave{i}}$(三桓氏), three politically noble families of State $L{\check{u}}$(魯), is outstanding. The $x{\bar{i}}-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(西宮) during $X{\bar{i}}-g{\bar{o}}ng$(魯 僖公)'s reign and a $x{\bar{i}}n-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(新宮 : a newly built house) destroyed by fire at the third year of $Ch{\acute{e}}ng-g{\bar{o}}ng$(魯 成公), are assumed to have been a ruler's another house, such as the $ch{\check{u}}-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(楚宮) in which $Xi{\bar{a}}ng-g{\bar{o}}ng$(魯 襄公) used to enjoy staying, which is different from the viewpoint that it might be a $m{\acute{i}}-g{\bar{o}}ng$ shrine(?宮 : a house constructed as a shrine for the deceased father or the deceased grand father) that had been formed since Han dynasty. It has been discussed that, regarding the records that the '$w{\check{u}}-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(武宮) was built' and that the '$y{\acute{a}}ng-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(煬宮) was built', certain buildings were established with the symbols of '$w{\check{u}}$(武 : martial arts and force of arms)' and '$y{\acute{a}}ng$(煬 : to burn and get rid of everything)', and the events that a lord stood as its lord continued. Therefore, its main goal was not the performance of a dutiful ancestral rite by a ruler of those times for deceased rulers, for instance, $W{\check{u}}-g{\bar{o}}ng$(魯 武公) or $Y{\acute{a}}ng-g{\bar{o}}ng$(魯 煬公), but display of certain political symbolism through the ritual. This symbolism is most obvious with the $hu{\acute{a}}n-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(桓宮) and the $x{\bar{i}}-g{\bar{o}}ng$ house(僖宮). As a consequence, all $mi{\grave{a}}os$(廟) and $g{\bar{o}}ngs$(宮) in scripture sentences had the functions of a shrine in some part, but it has been verified that they were not the buildings set up as a shrine to follow '$z{\bar{o}}ng-mi{\grave{a}}o$(宗廟)'s number regulation system' of '$ti{\bar{a}}nz{\check{i}}-7-mi{\grave{a}}o$(天子七廟 : an emperor owns seven $mi{\grave{a}}os$(廟))' or '$zh{\bar{u}}h{\acute{o}}u-5-mi{\grave{a}}o$(諸侯五廟 : a lord owns five $mi{\grave{a}}os$(廟))'.

Flavonoids with anticomplement activity from Persicaria lapathifolia

  • Persicaria lapathifolia Gray (Polygonaceae) is a common weed in Korea. This plant and other Persicaria species including P. orientale and P. pubescens have been used as an analgesic and stomachic as well as for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and malaria. During the screening program of plant extracts, MeOH extract of P. scabrum showed anticomplement activity and the MeOH extract was partitioned with hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and buthanol. EtOAc fraction showed strong activity and activity guided separation yielded eight flavonoids. Two known galloylated and a novel ferulloylated flavonoid glycosides showed strong anticomplement activity. Other flavonoid glycosides, kaempferol 3-O-${\alpha}$-$\sub$L/-arabinopyranoside, kaempferol 3-O-${\beta}$-$\sub$D/-glucopyranoside, kaempferol 3-O-${\beta}$-$\sub$D/-galactopyranoside, quercetin 3-O-${\alpha}$-$\sub$L/-arabinopyranoside, quercetin 3-O-${\beta}$-$\sub$D/-glucopyranoside, quercetin O-${\beta}$-$\sub$D/-galactopyranoside did not showed anicomplement activity.

Effect of the UO2 Powder Characteristic Changes by Dynamic Milling on the Density (Dynamic Milling에 의한 UO22분말 특성 변화가 밀도에 미치는 영향)

  • Effect of the UO$_2$ powder characteristic changes by dynamic milling method on the density was investigated. particle size decreased and its shape was changed from irregular to round form with increasing milling time (0∼8 h), while its specific surface area and O/U ratio increased. It was shown that the sintered density decreased, while green density increased with these powder characteristic changes. It could be considered that this decrement was affected by increased O/U ratio of the UO$_2$ powder during dynamic milling.

  • Defect equilibrium equations were modelled, and the relations of P $o_2$, venus x were derived using the mass action law. The dominant defect species active in a specified region were determined by fitting the curve of experimental data to the calculated curve of log P $o_2$, versus log x for each theoretical model. The calculated curve for (2:1:2) and (Er')$^{x}$ in the hyperstoichiometric $U_{1-y}$E $r_{y}$ $O_{2+x}$ and that for (2Er'quot;)$^{x}$ $_{dec}$ in the hypostoichiometric $U_{1-y}$E $r_{y}$ $O_{2-x}$ are in good agreement with the present experimental results. The sintering behavior of Er-doped U $O_2$ is observed with erbium content in oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. For sintering in oxidizing atmosphere, sintered density decreases as increasing y in $U_{1-y}$E $r_{y}$ $O_{2+x}$. However, in hydrogen atmosphere, sintered density decreases as increasing y at lower erbium content but the density increases again above y=0.10. In oxidizing sintering conditions, the formation of (Er'U')$^{x}$ clusters hinders the diffusion of cations, and hence the sinterability of Er-doped U $O_2$ decreases. In reducing atmosphere of Er-doped U $O_2$ for higher Er concent, the oxygen vacancies make (Er')$^{x}$ cluster decompose by charge compensation and the concentration of mobile cations increases, thereby improving the sinterability.ntration of mobile cations increases, thereby improving the sinterability.ability.

  • As a part of tandem fuel cycle feasibility study, the residual U and Pu nuclide contents of PWR spent fuels are computed using ORICEN2 code for each Korea Nuclear Unit and batch to investigate the potential of utilizing them as CANDU fuels. The annual and accumulated discharged amounts of U and Pu nuclides are computed for the PWRs from KNU 1 through KNU 10. The results of computation show that the spent fuels having 0.7-0.8 w/o U-235 are dominant and considerable amounts of fissile Pu are produced. The enrichment of U-235 is less than the expected 0.8-0.9 w/o U-235 since the burnups offered by KEPCO are higher than those of other PWRs.

  • In order to investigate the effects of the $So{\breve{u}}m$-In $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ and the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ on Yang-insufficient syndrome(陽虛)induced by hydrocortisone acetate and cold condition in experiemental animals(Rats), the author experimented with Body temperature, Body weight, Exercise time, cyclic-AMP and Hair conditions. The results were obtained as follows ; 1. In Changes of body Temperature, the soum-In $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ group rose with statistical significance in comparison to the controlled group, and the Soum-In $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group rose with statistical singificance in comparison to the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group. 2. In changes of Body weight, the Soum-In Sipjondaebot'ang treated group and the Gukbang Sipjondabot'ang treatd group had increased with statistical significance in comparison to the controlled group, and the $So{\breve{u}}m$-In $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group showed an increasing tendency in comparison to the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$treated group. 3. In changes of Exercise time, the $So{\breve{u}}m$-In $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group and the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group had increased with statistical significance in comparison to the controlled group and the $So{\breve{u}}m$ $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group showed an increasing tendency in comparison to the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group. 4. In changes of plasma cyclic-AMP concentration, the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group and the $So{\breve{u}}m$ $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group showed an increased tendency in comparison to the controlled group. 5. In changes hair condition, the $So{\breve{u}}m$ $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ terated group and the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ treated group showed a betterment tendency in comparison to the controlled group. From the above findings, thd $So{\breve{u}}m$ $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ and the Gukbang $Sipj{\breve{o}}ndaebot^{\prime}ang$ groups also had an effect of Yang-insuffient syndrome, moreover, on Body thmperature, Body weight and Exercise time, both showed a singnificant effect.
