Lipid and Fatty Acid Composition of Korean Breast Milk and Infant Formula (모유와 유아용 조제분유의 지질 및 지방산 조성)

  • This study was conducted to compare the lipid content and fatty acid composition of the Korean breast milk produced at 1, 2 and 3 months postpartum with the infant formula produced in Korea. The content of total lipids of the breast milk was low compared with the other data of Korean as well as foreign breast milk, and the content tended to reduce during the progress of lactation. The composition of fatty acids of the breast milk was characterized by low saturated fatty acids(SFA) and high $\omega$3 series of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), especially 20:5 and 22:6, so the P/S and $\omega$6/$\omega$3 rations were high. The formulas had more total lipids, triglycerides(TG) and phospholipids and less cholesterol(CHOL) and free fatty acids than the breast milk. The cholesterol content of the formulas was around 50% of that of the breast milk, so the CHOL/TG ratio was low. Although the formulas varied in fatty acid composition, the formulas had more SFA and $\omega$6 series of PUFA, but less monounsaturated fatty acids and $\omega$3 series of PUFA than the breast milk. This study shows that there are some differences in lipid content and fatty acid composition between breast milk and infant formula. Therefore, further studies needed to investigate the physiological effect of this difference on lipid metabolism of infants.

Effect of CCC Composition on Burning Characteristic for 120mm Kinetic Energy Ammunition (120미리 운동에너지탄용 소진탄피 조성이 연소 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The burning rates of combustible cartridge cases(CCCs) of 120mm kinetic energy ammunition were measured by CBT(Closed Bomb Tester). The burning coefficient was 1.4 for CCC fabricated by Post Impregnation(PI) process, and 1.0 for that by Beater Additive(BA) process. The BA process CCC showed the fixed burning coefficient of 1.0 in spite of changing the composition of CCC. As the Korean Future Main Battle Tank is requiring the high penetration performance compared with that of KlAl tank ammunition(K276), CCC was designed to have higher impetus composition than that of K276 composition(525J/g). The optimum impetus was 600J/g when considering the increases of pressure and muzzle velocity with increasing impetus. When impetus of CCC by changing the composition increased from 525J/g to 600J/g, the muzzle velocity of 12m/s at pressure increase of 3500psi increased in case of using SCDB propellant.

  • Basic frictional angle is a parameter that can estimate shear strength of rock, and is a design parameter employed in slope stability analysis. Basic frictional angle generates various results in accordance with mineral composition, apart from rock surface roughness itself. This paper describes the correlation of basic frictional angle and mineral composition. The basic frictional angle is measured with the aid of the modified tilt testing apparatus, and its reliability is improved by the statistical method. Also, mineral composition is identified through the photographic analysis on rock specimen, and verified through the thin section analysis.

  • The effect of chemical composition on the microstructural change and tensile property in TRIP-assisted steels with different chemical composition was investigated by using SEM, TEM, XRD and UTM. As a result of microscopic observation, the morphology of retained austenite could be identified as two types; a granular type in a steel containing higher Si and a film type in a steel having higher C. For the case of higher C-containing steel with a tensile strength of 860 MPa and a total elongation of 38%, film-typed retained austenite could be observed between lath bainitic ferrite. Actually, metastable retained austenite was a requisite for the good formability, which means that chemical composition plays a significant role in the microstructure and tensile property of TRIP-assisted steels. With respect to tensile property, the steels containing suitable Si and Mn, respectively, showed a typical TRIP effect in stress-strain curve, while a steel containing higher Mn content exhibited the similar behavior shown in dual phase steel.

  • This study investigated the effect of cold acclimatization training on body composition including weight, fat mass, and muscle mass with 10 subjects (5 males and 5 females). During the 3-week acclimatization training program, they visited an artificial climate chamber ($15^{\circ}C$) 15 times and were exposed to cold environment with light clothing for 2 hours. Body composition was measured before and after cold training using bioelectric impedance analysis that was later compared by a paired t-test. In the process of thermoregulation, muscle contraction was accompanied by increased substrate metabolism for rising heat production. After cold training, the muscle mass increased and fat mass decreased significantly (p<.1, p<.05), subsequently the body composition changed. It was found that cold acclimatization training could be used as a treatment for obesity. It was suggested that further investigation on the long term effects of mild cold exposure using clothing and its potential applicability as an obesity treatment.

  • A ternary compound semiconductor $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals which have energy gap from 0.7eV to 1.6ev at room temperature with the composition ratio were grown by using the vertical Bridgman method. The characteristics of $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb were investigated in this study. The lattice constants of $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals with the composition ratio were appeared from 6.096$\AA$ to 6.135$\AA$ with the composition ratio. The electrical properties of the $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals measured the Hall effect by van der Pauw method at the magnetic field of 3 kilogauss and at room temperature. The resistivity of Te-doped $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals increased from 0.771 $\Omega$-cm to 5 $\Omega$-cm at room temperature with increasing the composition ratio. The mobility of Te-doped $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals varied with the composition ratio x, within the following three different regions, such as GaSb-like (0$\leq$x$\leq$0.3), intermediate (0.3$\leq$x$\leq$0.4) and AlSb-like (0.4$\leq$x$\leq$1).eq$1).

High Current MIG Welding of Al 5083 Alloy under Ar/He Mixed Gas Shielding (Ar/He 보호가스분위기에서 Al 5083 합금의 대전류 MIG 용접특성)

  • Recently, use of thick Al 5083 plate has increased in production of LNG storage tank. In general, multi-pass welding has been used to achieve sufficient penetration in thick plate welding. High current welding which enables high deposition and deep penetration is preferred in thick plate welding because the increase of number of pass increases manufacturing cost and formation of weld defect. In this study, welding characteristics according to various Ar/He shielding gas composition was investigated in high current MIG welding. The bead-on-plate welding and V groove welding were conducted on Al 5083 alloy with a thickness of .25 mm. The effect of shielding gas composition on bead shape was evaluated and proper shielding gas composition was proposed. Also arc stability was examined under selected shielding gas composition. One side-one pass welding experiments were conducted for V groove specimen with a thickness of 25 mm. Mechanical properties and hardness profiles were measured for the V groove specimens.

Analysis of Essential Oil Composition of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai with Different Extraction Methods (추출방법에 따른 미역취의 정유 성분 분석)

  • This study investigated the chemical composition of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai essential oils collected using different extraction methods. The essential oils obtained by simultaneous steam distillation extraction (SDE) and hydrodistillation extraction (HDE) methods from the aerial parts of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Ninety-nine volatile flavor compounds were identified in the essential oil produced from Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai using the SDE method. These compounds were classified into eight categories in terms of chemical functionality: 26 hydrocarbons, 8 aldehydes, 36 alcohols, 7 ketones, 12 esters, 5 oxides and epixides, 4 acids, and a miscellaneous one. Spathulenol (15.66%) was the most abundant compound. Ninety-eight compounds including of 35 hydrocarbons, 6 aldehydes, 29 alcohols, 6 ketones, 10 esters, 4 oxides and epixides, 7 acids, and a miscellaneous one were identified in the essential oil from the plant using the HDE method. Hexadecanoic acid (24.74%) was the most abundant compound. The chemical composition of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai essential oils extracted by SDE and HDE methods are characterized by high content of sesquiterpene alcohols and acids, respectively. The extraction methods may be influenced in the chemical composition of natural plant essential oils.

  • Objectives : The main objective of this study is to classify herbal components to 4 groups which are similar to Gunsinjwasa grades by using herbal composition ratio of prescription. Another objective is to design the searching system which compares prescriptions and improves efficiency with 4 groups like Gunsinjwasa grades. Methods : This study was proceeded with Acess 2007 on Microsoft Windows 7 and we created composition ratio based on weight by using prescriptions of Donguibogam, Uihagipmun and Banghakhabpyun. We could make comparison and searching method of prescriptions. Results : We could search using composition ratio degree of herbs which composes prescription. And the similarity comparison of prescription was possible with value from 0 to 10. Conclusions : We could increase the accuracy of the searching prescriptions and comparison with putting into the information about composition degree and composition ratio of herbs which compose a prescription.
