  • In this research, a bit correction technique of data hiding method in timestamp of MFT entry in NTFS file system is proposed. This method is proposed in two ways, depending on the number of bytes of data to hide. A basic data hiding method using a bit correction technique to solve the problems of the conventional 2-byte technique is proposed. In order to increase the capacity of the data, a 3-byte data hiding method using an extended bit correction technique is proposed. The data hiding method in the timestamps is based on the fact that is not revealed in the Windows explorer window and the command prompt window even if any data is hidden in the timestamp area of less than one second. It is shown that the validity of the proposed method through the experimental two cases of the basic data hiding method by the bit correction method and the 3-byte data hiding method by the extended bit correction method.

  • This research proposes a modified data hiding method to hide data in a slack space of an NTFS index record. The existing data hiding method is for anti-forensics, which uses traces of file names of an index entry in an index record when files are deleted in a direcotry. The proposed method in this paper modifies the existing method to make non-admittable ASCII characters for a file name applicable. By improving the existing method, problems of a file creation error due to non-admittable characters are remedied; including the non-admittable 9 characters (i. e. slash /, colon :, greater than >, less than <, question mark ?, back slash ${\backslash}$, vertical bar |, semi-colon ;, esterisk * ), reserved file names(i. e. CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1~COM9, LPT1~LPT9) and two non-admittable characters for an ending character of the file name(i. e. space and dot). Two results of the two message with non-admittable ASCII characters by keyboard inputs show the applicability of the proposed method.

  • For the successful endodontic treatment, root canal should be cleaned thoroughly by accurate mechanical and chemical canal preparation and sealed completely with canal filling material without damaging the periapical tissues. The accuracy of the root canal length measurement is a prerequisite for the success of the endodontic treatment, and the root canal length is often determined by the standard periapical radiographs and digital tactile sense. In this study, the accuracy and the clinical usefulness of Digora/sup (R)/, an intraoral digital imaging processor and the conventional standard radiographs were compared by measuring the length from the top of the file to the root apex. 30 single rooted premolars were invested in a uniformly sized blocks and No.25 K-file was inserted into and fixed in each canal. Each block was placed in equal distance and position to satisfy the principle of the bisecting angle and paralleling techniques and Digora/sup (R)/ system's image and standard periapical radiographs were taken. Each radiograph was examined by 3 different observers by measuring the length from top of the file to the root apex and each data was compared and analyzed. The results were as follows; 1. In the bisecting angle technique, the average difference between the Digora/sup (R)/ system and standard periapical radiograph was 0.002 mm and the standard deviation was 0.341 mm which showed no statistically significant difference between the two systems(p>0.05). Also, in the paralleling technique, the average difference between these two system was 0.007 mm and the standard deviation was 0.323 mm which showed no statistically significant difference between the two systems(p>0.05). 2. In Digora/sup (R)/ system, the average difference between the bisecting angle and paralleling technique was -0.336 mm and the standard deviation was 0.472 mm which showed a statistically significant difference between the two techniques(p<0.05). Also, in the standard periapical radiographs, the average difference between the bisecting angle and paralleling technique was 0.328 mm and the standard deviation was 0.517 mm which showed a statistically significant difference between these two techniques(p<0.05). 3. In Digora/sup (R)/ system and the standard periapical radiographs. there was a statistically significant difference between the measurement using the bisecting angle technique and the actual length(p<0.05), But there was no statistically significant difference between the measurement using the paralleling technique and the actuallength(p>0.05). In conclusion. the determination of the root canal length by using the Digora/sup (R)/ system can give us as good an image as the standard periapical radiograph and using the paralleling technique instead of the bisecting angle technique can give a measurement closer to the actual canal length. thereby contributing to a successful result. Also. considering the advantages of the digital imaging processor such as decreasing the amount of exposure to the patient. immediate use of the image. magnification of image size. control of the contrast and brightness and the ability of storing the image can give us good reason to replace the standard periapical radiographs.

  • Data is represented by file structure in Computer System. But the file size is to be larger, it is hard to control and transmit. Therefore, in recent years, many researchers have developed new algorithms for the data compression. And now, we introduce a new Dynamic Compression Technique, making up for the weaknesses of huffman's. The huffman compression technique has two weaknesses. The first, it needs two steps of reading, one for acquiring character frequency and the other for real compression. The second, low compression rate caused by storing tree information. These weaknesses can be solved by our new Dynamic Relocatable Method, reducing the reading pass by relocating data file to dynamic form, and then storing tree information from pipeline structure. • MP3 is one of the most widely used file formats for encoding and representing audio data. One of the reasons for this popularity is their significant ability to reduce audio file sizes in comparison to other encoding techniques. Additionally, other reasons also include ease of implementation, its availability and good technical support. Steganography is the art of shielding the communication between two parties from the eyes of attackers. In steganography, a secret message in the form of a copyright mark, concealed communication, or serial number can be embedded in an innocuous file (e.g., computer code, video film, or audio recording), making it impossible for the wrong party to access the hidden message during the exchange of data. This paper describes a new steganography algorithm for encoding secret messages in MP3 audio files using an improved least significant bit (LSB) technique with high embedding capacity. Test results obtained shows that the efficiency of this technique is higher compared to other LSB techniques.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of materials and sizes of files on canal transportation in a curved canal. The stress and the strain energy of files of two kinds of materials (stainless steel and NiTi) and five sizes (No. 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40) in a curved canal were analyzed by a finite element program, NASTRAN. Curved canals in transparent resin blocks were instrumented with the 10 kinds of files, and the degree of canal transportation obtained by double exposure technique of photography was compared with the analysis by the finite element method. The results were as follows : 1. The stress of a file in a curved canal increased from the file body to the file tip. 2. The stress of a stainless steel file was about 2.5 times greater than that of a same-sized NiTi file. 3. The stress distributions of files of an identical material were the same, and the strain energies of files of an identical material increased as the size of files increased. 4. The strain energy of a No. 35 NiTi file was about the same as that of a No. 20 stainless steel file. 5. The degree of canal transportation by a stainless steel file was greater than that by a same-sized NiTi file. The degree of canal transportation generally increased as the size of a file increased. 6. The degree of canal transportation of a No. 35 NiTi file was about the same as that of a No. 20 stainless steel file.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the insertion depth of Buchanan plugger after shaping by various Ni-Ti rotary files. It was conducted to determine which size of plugger are appropriate, when root canals are shaped with Ni-Ti rotary files and obturated by Continuous wave of condensation technique. Two type of eighty simulated resin blocks were used : J-shaped and straight shaped canal. The simulated canals were instrumented by ProTaper and ProFile. Buchanan pluggers were inserted into the canal, and then the image was recorded to scanner. The distance from the apex of the canal to the plugger tip was measured by image analysis program. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA followed by Scheffe's test. The results were as follows 1. In straight canal finished up to ProTaper F2 and F3 file, F and FM pluggers were inserted more than 5 mm short of working length. 2. In J-shaped canal finished up to ProTaper F2 file, F pluggers were inserted more than 5 mm short of working length. Finished up to ProTaper F3 file. F and FM pluggers were inserted more than 5 mm short of working length. 3. In straight and J-shaped canal finished up to ProFile .06/#20 and .06/#25, any of Buchanan plugger could not be inserted more than 5 mm short of working length. These results suggest that canals shaped by ProTaper could be obturated by Continuous wave of condensation technique with F and FM size Buchanan plugger.

  • Staging technique is used to provide files for a job in the Grid. If a staged file has large volume, the start time of the job is delayed and the throughput of job in the Grid may decrease. Therefore, removal of staging overhead helps the Grid operate more efficiently. In this paper, we present two methods for efficient file provisioning to clear the overhead. First, we propose RA-RFT, which extends RFT of Globus Toolkit and enables it to utilize RLS with replica information. RA-RFT can reduce file transfer time by doing partial transfer for each replica in parallel. Second, we suggest Remote Link that uses remote I/O instead of file transfer. Remote link is able to save storage of computational nodes and enables fast file provisioning via prefetching. Through various experiments, we argue that our two methods have an advantage over existing staging techniques.
