This paper proposes a new 'finite element for the vibration analysis of thin-walled beams of rectangular closed sections. To predict the dynamic behavior of the thin-walled beam accurately, warping and distortion deformations should be considered for the analysis. The motivation of the present development is that conventional beam elements cannot describe correctly deformations such as warping and lozenging which are not negligible in some situations. Several numerical examples are studied to confirm the validity of the present element.

System identification is the field of modeling dynamic systems from experimental data. As a modeling technique, we can mention finite element method (FEM). In addition, we are able to measure modal data as the experimental data. The system can be generally categorized into a gray box and black box. In the gray box, we know mathematical model of a system, but we don't know structural parameters exactly, so we need to estimate structural parameters. In the black box, we don't know a system completely, so we need to identify system from nothing. To date, various system identification methods have been developed. Among them, we introduce system realization theory which uses Hankel matrix and Eigensystem Realization Algorithm (ERA) that enable us to identify modal parameters from noisy measurement data. Although we obtain noise-free data, however, we are likely to face difficulties in identifying a structure with hidden modes. Hidden modes can be occurred when the input or output position comes to a nodal point. If we change a system using a mode decoupling controller, the hidden modes can be revealed. Because we know the perturbation quantities in a closed loop system with the controller, we can realize an original system by subtracting perturbation quantities from the closed loop system. In this paper, we propose a novel method to identify a structure with hidden modes using the mode decoupling controller and the associated example is given for illustration.

The reinforcing effect of modified structure of PSC beams is analyzed in this study. The PSC beams are closed by precast half panels embeding PS tendons at the bottom flange of I-bear The stiffness of box structure is larger and the PS force at half panels makes a time-dependent upward camber of superstructures. The superstructure becomes a second composite structure among 3 elements-PSC ben RC slab, PSC Panel. The time-dependent creep and shrinkage effect at PSC Panels and structural behavior is verified considering construction sequences. The optimal range of to-box reinforcing method is surveyed through reliability analysis.
In this note, we consider a robust linear shift-invariant feedback compensator design for discrete-time multivariable systems which have both matched and mismatched uncertainties. In order to attack the problem of designing robust compensators guaranteeing uniform ultimate boundedness of every closed-loop system response within a neighborhood of the zero state based solely on the knowledge of the upper norm-bounds of uncertainties, we use an approach which is effective on studying augmented feedback control systems with both mismatched and matched uncertainties. We draw some robust stability conditions using the approach and give an example.
If normality of an observed data is not a viable assumption, we can carry out normal-theory analyses by suitable transforming data. Power transformation by Box and Cox, one of the transformation methods, is derived the power which maximized the likelihood function. But it doesn't induces the closed form in mathematical analysis. In this paper, we compose some R the syntax of which is easier than other statistical packages for deriving the power with using numerical methods. Also, by using R, we show the transformed data approximately distributed the normal through Q-Q plot in univariate and bivariate cases with some examples. Finally, we present the value of a goodness-of-fit statistic(AD) and its p-value for normal distribution. In the similar procedure, this method can be extended to more than bivariate case.
The objective of the investigation is the analysis of wind-tunnel experimental errors, associated with the measurement of aeroelastic coefficients of bridge decks (Scanlan flutter derivatives). A two-degree-of-freedom experimental apparatus is used for the measurement of flutter derivatives. A section model of a closed-box bridge deck is considered in this investigation. Identification is based on free-vibration aeroelastic tests and the Iterative Least Squares method. Experimental error investigation is carried out by repeating the measurements and acquisitions thirty times for each wind tunnel speed and configuration of the model. This operational procedure is proposed for analyzing the experimental variability of flutter derivatives. Several statistical quantities are examined; these quantities include the standard deviation and the empirical probability density function of the flutter derivatives at each wind speed. Moreover, the critical flutter speed of the setup is evaluated according to standard flutter theory by accounting for experimental variability. Since the probability distribution of flutter derivatives and critical flutter speed does not seem to obey a standard theoretical model, polynomial chaos expansion is proposed and used to represent the experimental variability.
In corrosion-sensitive areas of exsisting unpainted weathering steel bridges with closed box girder structures. there are some serious local corrosion problems because of rain water or dew water which can not be solved by exsisting maintenance methods. These problems must be controled technically because of bad. influence on the safety of bridge. This study is the first stage of developing the economic corrosion control manual for these local corrosion problems. Through the injection of tar sealant into the crevice of mock-up equipment, it was prooved that the corrosive sealant can be useful to corrosion control at crevice of corrosion sensitive area.
The effect of mean angle of wind attack on the flutter critical wind speed of two generic bridge deck cross-sections, viz, one closed box type streamlined section (deck-1) and closed box trapezoidal bluff type section with extended flanges/overhangs (deck-2) type of section have been studied using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based forced vibration simulation method. Owing to the importance of the effect of the amplitude of forcing oscillation on the flutter onset, its effect on the flutter derivatives and flutter onset have been studied, especially at non-zero mean angles of wind attack. The flutter derivatives obtained have been used to evaluate flutter critical wind speeds and flutter index of the deck sections at non-zero mean angles of wind attack studied and the same have been validated with those based on experimental results reported in literature. The value of amplitude of forcing oscillation in torsional degree of freedom for CFD based simulations is suggested to be in the range of 0.5° to 2°, especially for bluff bridge deck sections. Early onset of flutter from numerical simulations, thereby conservative estimate of occurrence of instability has been observed from numerical simulations in case of bluff bridge deck section. The study aids in gaining confidence and the extent of applicability of CFD during early stages of bridge design, especially towards carrying out studies on mean incident wind effects.
Bridge has to be long-spanned and of simple structure, considering the social environment. As a result of this trend in bridge construction, it is important for the sake of economical efficiency to improve the structural system and increase the life cycle of a bridge. To attain these goals in constructing a steel bridge, the detail analyses based on real structure must be performed. In the steel structure bridge, the parts that are a main focus of interest are the diaphragm and the vertical bracing of the steel box girder support. This study observed the behavior of the diaphragms on the bearings of a closed section steel box girder bridge support, as dead load was increased. Stress variation of the support diaphragms in a steel box girder was considered, and both experimental test and structural analyses were performed to verify the behavior of a composite steel box girder bridge under repair or maintenance.

Recently, in the semiconductor process, large companies are seeking process changes from memory semiconductors to the foundry due to the increase in demand due to the 4th industry. industry is expanding. The characteristics of special gases and precursors, which are raw materials used to produce these semiconductor chips, are toxic, pyrophoric, inflammable, and corrosive. These semiconductor raw materials are operated in a closed system and do not leak to the outside during normal times, but when leaked, they spread to the inside of the gas box, and when proper ventilation is not provided inside the gas box, they spread to the outside, causing fires, explosions, or toxic substances. It can lead to major accidents such as leakage. Recently, there have been cases of accidents in which hazardous materials leaked from the closed system of the semi conductor process and spread to the inside and outside of the gas box. . In this study, we propose preventive measures based on the case of an accident in which raw material leaked from the VCR fitting, which is the connection part of the semiconductor raw material transfer pipe, and spread to the outside of the gas box.
