Because of the high water content of the household garbage, it is difficult to compost it. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the possibility of using coal fly ash as humidity conditioner for the household garbage composting. The summarized results are as follows : 1. The maximum temperatures were $35^{\circ}C$ in spring, $47^{\circ}C$ in summer, and $43^{\circ}C$ in winter during the composting periods. 2. The mass was reduced to 70.5% after 60 days. The average volume reduced down to 74.7% after 60 days. 3. The seasonal variation of pH values showed a similar tendency and reached 8.5 after 60 days. 4. The water content was reduced at an early stage of composting and not much changed thereafter. It had 49.7% in spring, 33.9% in summer, and 56.5% in winter after 60 days. Ash contents were not much changed during the composting periods. 5. The contents of inorganic compounds were in the range of $0.06{\sim}4.03%$$P_2O_5$, $0.01{\sim}2.87%$ CaO, $0.18{\sim}1.43%$ MgO, and $0.39{\sim}2.03%$$K_2O$. Heavy metal contents were in the range of $ND{\sim}14.08$ Hg ${\mu}g/kg$, $ND{\sim}0.80$ Cd mg/kg, $4.99{\sim}28.95$ Cu mg/kg, $ND{\sim}242.62$ Cr mg/kg, $ND{\sim}20.24$ Pb mg/kg, and $ND{\sim}59.87$ Zn mg/kg.

The most widely used piezoelectric ceramics are lead oxide based ferroelectrics (PZT). However, the toxicity of lead oxide and its high vapor pressure during processing have led to a demand for alternative lead-free piezoelectric materials. We synthesized Lead-free piezoelectric ceramics of $0.96(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_3-0.04SrZrO_3+x$ mol% $ZrO_2$ [KNN-SZ+$xZrO_2$; x= 0~0.10] doped with 0.1 wt% $MnO_2$ by a conventional solid state method. We investigated the piezoelectric properties and microstructures of these disk samples sintered in reduced atmosphere in order to evaluate the possibility of the multilayered piezoelectric ceramics having the base metal such as Ni as a internal electrode. All of these KNN-SZ samples sintered in 3%$H_2-97%N_2$ atmosphere at $1,140^{\circ}C$ exhibit pure perovskite structure irrespective of the content of $ZrO_2$. Meanwhile, the sintering denisty and piezoelectric properties such as $K_p$, $Q_m$ and $d_{33}$ of KNN-SZ samples as a function of $ZrO_2$ content show the maxima ($k_p$=28.07%, $Q_m$= 101.34, $d_{33}$= 156 pC/N) at x= 0.04 and it is likely that there is some morphotropic phase boundary(MPB) in this KNN-SZ+$xZrO_2$ composition system. These results indicate that the ceramic composition is a promising candidate material for applications in lead free multilayer piezoelectric ceramics.

Background: Propofol (2.6-diisopropylphenol) is a widely used intravenous anesthetic agent for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia during surgeries and sedation for ICU patients. Propofol has a structural similarity to the endogenous antioxidant vitamin E and exhibits antioxidant activities.13) However, the mechanism of propofol on hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury has yet to be fully elucidated. We investigated how P-PostC influences the autophagy and cell death, a cellular damage occurring during the H/R injury. Methods: The groups were randomly divided into the following groups: Control: cells were incubated in normoxia (5% CO2, 21% O2, and 74% N2) without propofol treatment. H/R: cells were exposed to 24 h of hypoxia (5% CO2, 1% O2, and 94% N2) followed by 12 h of reoxygenation (5% CO2, 21% O2, and 74% N2). H/R + P-PostC: cells post-treated with propofol were exposed to 24 h of hypoxia followed by 12 h of reoxygenation. 3-MA + P-PostC: cells pretreated with 3-MA and post-treated propofol were exposed to 24 h of hypoxia followed by 12 h of reoxygenation Results: The results of our present study provides a new direction of research on mechanisms of propofol-mediated cytoprotection. There are three principal findings of these studies. First, the application of P-PostC at the onset of reoxygenation after hypoxia significantly increased COS-7 cell viability. Second, the cellular protective effect of P-PostC in H/R induced COS-7 cells was probably related to activation of intra-cellular autophagy. And third, the autophagy pathway inhibitor 3-MA blocked the protective effect of P-PostC on cell viability, suggesting a key role of autophagy in cellular protective effect of P-PostC. Conclusions: These data provided evidence that P-PostC reduced cell death in H/R model of COS-7 cells, which was in agreement with the protection by P-PostC demonstrated in isolated COS-7 cells exposed to H/R injury. Although the this study could not represent the protection by P-PostC in vivo, the data demonstrate another model in which endogenous mechanisms evoked by P-PostC protected the COS-7 cells exposed to H/R injury from cell death.
An ex-situ gravitational fixed bed pyrolysis reactor was used over Al2O3 supported Ni2P based catalyst with various Ni/P molar ratios (0.5-2.0) and constant nickel loading of 5.37 mmol/g Al2O3 to determine the hydrodeoxygenation of rubberwood sawdust (RWS) at atmospheric pressure. The 3D catalysts formed were characterized structurally as well as acidic properties were determined by hydrogen-temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The Ni2P phase formed completely on Al2O3 for 1.5 Ni/P ratio, although lesser crystallite sizes of Ni2P were seen at Ni/P ratios less than 1.5. Additionally, it was shown that when nickel loading level increased, acidity increased and specific surface area dropped, probably because nickel phosphate is not easily converted to Ni2P. When Ni/P ratio was 1.5, Ni2P phase fully formed on Al2O3. The catalytic activity was explained in terms of impacts of reaction temperature and Ni/P molar ratio. At relatively high temperature of 450℃, the high-value deoxygenated produce was predominantly composed of n-alkanes. Based on the findings, it was suggested that hydrogenolysis, hydrodeoxygenation, dehydration, decarbonylation, and hydrogenation are all part of mechanism underlying hydrotreatment of RWS. In conclusion, the synthesized Ni2P/ Al2O3 catalyst was capable of deoxygenating RWS with ease at atmospheric pressure, primarily resulting in long chained (C9-C24) hydrocarbons and acetic acid.
Methanol-utilizing bacterium isolated from sewage samples in Seoul showed optimal temperature and pH of $33^{\circ}C$ and 7.1 for growth, respectively. The maximum specific growth rate was $0.42hr^{-1}$. The minimum medium composition was reconstituted depending on the surplus and the deficit of each component in the basal medium at steady state. The optimal composition was given as(g/l); Methanol 40, $(NH_4)_2\;SO_42, \;KH_2PO_4\;1.5, \;K_2HPO_4\;0.2, \;H_3PO_4\;0.79, \;Na_2HPO_4{\cdot}12H_2O\;0.15, \;MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O\;1.5, \;FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O\;0.034, \;MnSO_4{\cdot}4H_2O\;0.005, \;CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O\;0.0027, \;CaCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O\;0.25, \;ZnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O\;0.007, \;(NH_4)_6\;Mo_7O_{24}{\cdot}4H_2O\;0.00048, \;H_3BO_3\;0.00068, \;CoCl_2\; 0.00024$ Under the continuous culture with optimum medium the maximum cell productivity was 3.8g/1/hr at dilution rate $0.23hr^{-1}$. Maximum cell concentration and its protein content were 19.5g/l and 70% at dilution rate of $0.1hr^{-1}$, respectively.

In this study, to improve sintering condition, anisotropic properties ( $k_{t}$/ $k_{p}$) of electromechanical coupling coefficient and piezoelectric constant $d_{h}$ and $g_{h}$, Mn $O_{2}$ impurity was added to the (P $b_{0.76}$C $a_{0.24}$)[( $Co_{1}$2/ $W_{1}$2/)$_{0.04}$$Ti_{0.96}$] $O_{3}$ ceramics for application to hydrophone devices. Electromechanical coupling coefficients of the specimen with 1.5 [mol%] Mn $O_{2}$ sintered at 1150.deg. C were $k_{t}$=49% and $k_{p}$ = O, which exibited the highest value in piezoelectric anisotropic properties (kt/kp). Without relations with sintering temperature, the highest value of hydrostatic piezoelectric constant $d_{h}$ & $g_{h}$ were shown at the specimen with 1.5 [mol%] Mn $O_{2}$. Accordingly, the best addition amount of Mn $O_{2}$ was 1.5 [mol%] and proper sintering temperature was 1150.deg. C. Hydrostatic piezoelectric constant values of $d_{h}$=64.52[10$^{-12}$ C/N], $g_{h}$=35.92[10$^{-3}$ Vm/N] in the above condition were effectiely extended for hydrophone applications.pplications.ons.
The purposes of this study are to evaluate the Korean mandibular dental arch and classify the mandibular dental arch shape and size based on the incisal angle, canine angle, inter second molar width and height. In this study the mandibular study models were fabricated using irreversible hydrocolloid impression material from 225 volunteers with a mean age 23.62 (range 19-29). And the study models were measured with 3-dimensional measuring device and the mandibular dental arch was classified by means of K-means clustering method and visual inspection, then obtained data were analyzed with t-test for the statistical analysis. The results were as follows ; 1. The average canine height was 5.19mm(s.d. 1.17) in both sex, 5.34mm in male, and 4.95mnm in female. And the sexual difference was significant($0
). 2. The average second molar height was 39.81mm(s.d. 2.44) in both sex, 40.19mm in male, and 39.21mm in female. And the sexual difference was significant($0
). 3. The average inter-canine width was 27.16mm(s.d. 1.78) in both sex, 27.41mm in male, and 26.77mm in female. And the sexual difference was significant($0
). 4. The average inter-first molar width was 46.93mm(s.d. 2.67) in both sex, 47.72mm in male, and 45.7mm in female. And the sexual difference was significant($0
). 5. The inter-second molar width was average 56.09mm(s.d. 3.01) in both sex, 57.24mm in male, and 54.32mn in woma. And the sexual difference was significant($0
). 6. The arch form was classified into three shapes based on the incisal and canine angle. V-shape showed $124.88^{\circ}$ of incisal angle and $141.64^{\circ}$ of canine angle, U-shape showed $152.76^{\circ}\;and\;125.35^{\circ}$, and O-shape showed $138.03^{\circ}\;and \;33.66^{\circ}$ respectively. Each shape distribution was that the V-shape was 14.2%, the U-Shape was 14.7%, and the O-shape was 71.1% of the 225 study models. 7. It was thought that the use of second molar width is more reasonable than height for classifying the dental arch size. The arch size was classified into four sizes based on the second molar width. Size 1 showed range of 42.24-48.23mm, size 2 showed 48.24-54.23mm, size 3 showed 54.24-60.23mm, and size 4 showed 60.24-66.23mm respectively. Each arch size distribution was that the size 1 was 1.3%, the size 2 was 27.1%, the size 3 was 63.6%, and the size 4 was 8.0% of the 225 study models.

The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of the protocols for superstimulation of follicular growth in Thai native heifers. Heifers (n = 20) were randomly divided into four groups of five heifers/group. Heifers were given a single dose by i.m. administration of 100 mg Follicle Stimulating Hormone dissolved in polyvinylpyrrolidone (FSHp) at 24 h. Ovum pick up (OPU) occurred at 72 h ($F_{24}O_{72}$ protocol; Group 1) or 96 h ($F_{24}O_{96}$ protocol; Group 2), and at 36 h and OPU at 72 h ($F_{36}O_{72}$ protocol; Group 3) or 96 h ($F_{36}O_{96}$ protocol; Group 4) after follicular ablation. The dynamics of ovarian follicular growth were monitored by twice-daily ultrasonographic examinations. Blood sample collections were performed every 12 h after initiation of treatment for assessment of FSH, E2 and P4 profiles. All heifers were subjected to eight repeated sequential sessions of OPU. The follicular deviation commenced $24{\pm}5.32$ h after follicular ablation in all groups. The circulatory FSH surged quickly from 24 to 36 h (>0.8 ng/ml) after follicular ablation and circulatory estrogen levels steadily increased from 36 h until OPU in all groups. At the end of the OPU sessions, the mean number of aspirated follicles/heifer/session in $F_{36}O_{72}$ protocol (Group 3) and $F_{36}O_{96}$ protocol (Group 4) were higher than in the two other groups (p<0.05). The number of cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs), cleaved and day 8 blastocysts rates in the $F_{36}O_{72}$ protocol (Group 3) were higher than in the other groups (p<0.05). It can be concluded that a single dose i.m. administration of 100 mg FSHp at 36 h and OPU at 72 h after follicular ablation ($F_{36}O_{72}$ protocol; Group 3) was the most effective protocol for superstimulation of follicular growth for repeated OPU and subsequent in vitro embryo production in Thai native heifers.
To establish the coating conditions for $^{57}Co$, non-radioactive Co ions are dissolved in an acid solution and electroplated on to a copper plate. Then, the thermal diffusion of electroplated Co into a copper matrix was studied to apply a $^{57}Co$$M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ source. Nanocrystalline Co particles were coated on a Cu substrate using DC electro-deposition at a pH of 1.89 to 5 and $20{\sim}30mA/cm^2$. The average grain size was up to 54 nm as the pH increased to 5. The second phase of Co-oxide was formatted as the pH was increased above 4. The diffusion degree was evaluated by mapping using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The influence of different annealing conditions was investigated. The diffusion depth of Co depends on the annealing temperature and time. The results obtained confirm that the deposited Co diffused almost completely into a copper matrix without substantial loss at an annealing temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours.

The 2-O-$\alpha$-D-glucopyranosyl L-ascorbic acid (AA-2G) which was enzymatically glucosylated with the cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) [EC 2.4.1.19] from Bacillus sp. JK-43 has been reported previously. The presnet experiments examined the optimal conditons for the productio of AA-2G from AA and soluble starch, and characterized the properties of the CGTase from Bacillus sp. JK-43. The reaction mixture for the maximal production of AA-2G was followings; 12% total substrate concentration, 1,400 usits/mL of CGTase and a mixing ratio of 2 : 3(g or AA : g of soluble starch). Under this condition, 1.76mM of AA-2G, which corresponded to 2.53% yield based on AA, was produced after incubation for 24hrs at 45$^{\circ}C$ (pH 5.5). The optimum pH and temperature for the CGTase activity were 6.0 and 45$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The enzyme was stable at pH 5.5 to 9.5, and at temperature up to 5$0^{\circ}C$. The thermostability of the enzyme could be enhanced up to 6$0^{\circ}C$ by the addition of 30mM CaCl2.
