Microwave Dielectric Properties of Low-temperature Sintered $MgCo_2(VO_4)_2$ Ceramics (저온소결 $MgCo_2(VO_4)_2$ 세라믹스의 마이크로파 유전특성)

  • The effects sintering additives such as $xwt%(0.242Bi_2O_3-0.782V_2O_5)$ on the microwave dielectric and sintering properties of $MgCo_2(VO_4)_2$ ceramics were investigated. Highly dense samples were obtained for $MgCo_2(VO_4)_2$ at the sintering temperature of $950^{\circ}C$ with $0.242Bi_2O_3-0.758V_2O_5$ additions of $0.5{\sim}5wt%$. The microwave dielectric properties of $MgCo_2(VO_4)_2$ with $0.5wt%(0.242Bi_2O_3-0.758V_2O_5)$ sintered at $950^{\circ}C$ were as follows : $Q{\times}f_0\;=\;45,375GHz,\;\epsilon_r\;=\;9.7\;and\;\tau_f\;=\;-23.2ppm/^{\circ}C$.

Maximum Oxygen Consumption Determined by the Bruce and Inclined Treadmill Protocols

  • The aim of the present study was to derive regression equations for $\dot{V}o_{2max}\;vs.\;\dot{V}o_{2peak},\;and\;\dot{V}o_2\;vs.$ heart rate, exercise time, and other variables from maximal exercise tests on a treadmill using the Bruce and inclined protocols. Twelve male and 10 female Korean college students aged between 19 and 23 years voIunteered for this study. After the resting measurements, the subjects performed a maximal exercise on a treadmill according to the Bruce protocol. When the resting conditions were restored, the subjects performed another maximal exercise according to an inclined protocol where the speed was fixed at 8.05 $km{\cdot}h^{-1}$ and the grade was incremented starting from 09t by 2.5% for every 2 min. Peak $\dot{V}o_2$ observed during the Bruce exercise $(\dot{V}o_{2peak})$ was $37.7{\pm}2.4\;and\;31.7{\pm}1.8\;ml\;kg^{-1}\;min^{-1}$ in the male and female groups, respectively. Peak $\dot{V}o_2$ observed during the inclined exercise was higher than $\dot{V}o_{2peak}$ during the Bruce exercise. Maximum $\dot{V}o_2$ value observed during the tyro exercises $(\dot{V}o_{2max})$ was $43.0{\pm}2.8\;and\;36.2{\pm}1.4\;ml\;kg^{-1}\;min^{-1}$ in the male and female groups, respectively. Thus, $\dot{V}o_{2peak}$ by the Bruce protocol was about 12% (male) or 13% (female) lower than $\dot{V}o_{2max}$, and a linear relationship was found between $\dot{V}o_{2peak}$ and $\dot{V}o_{2max}$. The peak values of % $\dot{V}o_{max}$ with the Bruce protocol were $89.2{\pm}3.3\;and\;87.5{\pm}3.6%$ and those with the inclined protocol $97.7{\pm}1.8\;and\;96.9{\pm}2.0%$ in the male and female groups, respectively. In the female group, $%\dot{V}o_{2max}$ at a given workload was higher than in the male group, while $\dot{V}o_{2}$ per kg body weight was the same. Maximum HR observed during the two exercises was $204{\pm}2\;and\;195{\pm}3\;beat\;min^{-1}$ in the male and female groups, respectively. Linear relationships were found, excluding the last points, between 1) $\dot{V}o_{2}$ and exercise time, 2) $\dot{V}o_{2}$ and $%\dot{V}o_{2max}\;and\;%HR_{max}$.

  • This study was researched the electrical properties of semiconductor devices such as ITO, $SiO_2$, $V_2O_5$ thin films. The films of ITO, $SiO_2$, $V_2O_5$ were deposited by the rf magnetron sputtering system with mixed gases of oxygen and argon to generate the plasma. All samples were cleaned before deposition and prepared the metal electrodes to research the current-voltage properties. The electrical characteristics of semiconductors depends on the interface's properties at the junction. There are two kinds of junctions such as ohmic and schottky contacts in the semiconductors. In this study, the ITO thin film was shown the ohmic contact properties as the linear current-voltage curves, and the electrical characteristics of $SiO_2$ and $V_2O_5$ films were shown the non-linear current-voltage curves as the schottky contacts. It was confirmed that the electronic system with schottky contacts enhanced the electronic flow owing to the increment of efficiency and increased the conductivity. The schottky contact was only defined special characteristics at the semiconductor and the interface depletion layer at the junction made the schottky contact which has the effect of leakage current cutoff. Consequently the semiconductor device with shottky contact increased the electronic current flow, in spite of depletion of carriers.

Hydrated Vanadium Pentoxide/Graphene Oxide Nanobelts for Enhanced Electrochemical Performance

  • Transition metal oxide-based materials have mainly been studied as electrodes for energy storage devices designed to meet essential energy demands. Among transition metal oxide-based materials, hydrated vanadium pentoxide (V2O5·nH2O), a vanadium oxide material, has demonstrated great electrochemical performance in the electrodes of energy storage devices. Graphene oxide (GO), a carbon-based material with high surface area and high electrical conductivity, has been added to V2O5·nH2O to compensate for its low electrical conductivity and structural instability. Here, V2O5·nH2O/GO nanobelts are manufactured with water without adding acid to ensure that the GO is uniformly dispersed, using a microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis. The resulting V2O5·nH2O/GO nanobelts exhibited a high specific capacitance of 206 F/g and more stable cycling performance than V2O5·nH2O without GO. The drying conditions of the carbon paper electrodes also resulted in more stable cycling performance when conducted at high vacuum and high temperature, compared with low vacuum and room temperature conditions. The improvement in electrochemical performance due to the addition of GO and the drying conditions of carbon paper electrodes indicate their great potential value as electrodes in energy storage devices.

  • $V_2O_5$ nanowire / polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer composite fibers were fabricated by a new simple method. The reaction of PVA and acetone facilitates the formation of the polymer membrane which can be used to make the fiber. Composite fiber is percolative in the conductance because of the low percolation threshold in $V_2O_5$ nanowire networks. The fiber composite can be applied to the electromagnetic shielding originating from the conductive nature.

  • $Mo-V-O/SnO_2$(VM/Sn) and $SnO_2/Mo-V-O$(Sn/VM) catalysts have been prepared and characterized by XRD, BET, SEM and TPD of ammonia. The catalytic reaction of acrolein oxidation with these catalysts, in a continuous-flow fixed-bed reactor, showed that they had higher conversion of acrolein and higher yield of acrylic acid than those of Mo-V-O itself. The origin of the observed synergy studied by TPD, TPR and TPO is explained by the cooperation of $SnO_2$ and Mo-V-O at their interfaces where electrons flow from Mo-V-O phase to $SnO_2$ and $SnO_2$ produces spill-over oxygens, which, by being transported onto the surface of Mo-V-O, reoxidize the partially reduced active sites.

  • The Mo(V) $di-\mu-oxo$ type $(Mo_2O_4(H_2O)_2L)$ complexes $(L:\;C_3H_7CH(SCH_2COOH)_2,\;C_6H_5CH(SCH_2COOH)_2,\;CH_3OC_6H_4CH(SCH_2COOH)_2,\;C_5H_{10}C(SCH_2COOH)_2,\;C_3H_7C(CH_3)(SCH_2COOH)_2,\;C_3H_7CH(SCH_2CH_2COOH)_2,\;C_6H_5CH(SCH_2CH_2COOH)_2)$ have been prepared by the reaction of $[Mo_2O_4(H_2O)_6]^{2+}$ with a series of dithiodicarboxy ligands. These complexes are completed by two terminal oxygens arranged trans to one another and each ligand forms a chelate type between two molybdenum. In $Mo_2O_4(H_2O)_2L$, two $H_2O$ coordinated at trans site of terminal oxygens. The prepared complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, electronic spectra, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra. In the potential range -0.00 V to -1.00 V at a scan rate of 20 $mVs^{-1}$, a cathodic peak at -0.50∼-0.58 V (vs. SCE) and an anodic peak at -0.40∼-0.43 V (vs. SCE) have been observed in aquous solution. The ratio of the cathodic to anodic current ($I_{pc}/I_{pa}$) is almost 1, we infer that redox is reversible reaction.

Influence of aluminum and vanadium oxides on copper borate glass: A physical/radiological study

  • Due to the radiation released by commonly used isotopes, many nuclear, medical, and industrial facilities require proper radiation shielding. In this work, distinct copper borate glasses intercalated with varied aluminum and vanadium oxide (Al2O3 and V2O5) content have been synthesized and used against radiation (gamma rays and fast/thermal neutrons). The different percents were as follows: [60% B2O3 + 35% CuO + (5-x)% Al2O3 + xV2O5], where x = 0, 1, and 2.5 wt.%, which was coded as BCu(5-x)Al:xV. The synthesized glass samples were characterized using Fourier transforms, infrared, and X-Raydiffraction analysis. Experimentally, the radiation shielding possessions of the samples were established using an HPGe detector at the gamma energy lines 0.356 MeV, 0.661 MeV, 1.173 MeV, and 1.332 MeV. Also, the prepared glasses were investigated theoretically using the Monte Carlo code (MCNP5) at photon energies of 0.015-15 MeV. Also, the fast and thermal neutron macroscopic effective removal cross-sections were calculated using MRCsC and JANIS-4.1 software, respectively. The prepared sample BCu2.5Al:2.5V, which has a vanadium and aluminum content of 2.5%, has the highest linear attenuation coefficient as well as the highest removal cross-section for fast, and thermal neutrons.

Electrochemical Studies of Li Intercalation in Ni0.2V2O5 Aerogel (리튬전지용 Ni0.2V2O5 Aerogel 전극의 특성)

  • $Ni_{0.2}V_2O_5$ aerogel (ARG) was synthesized via the sol gel method and has been studied with an emphasis on the characterization of its electrochemical properties. ARG appear to be amorphous layered material. Electron micrograph revealed that entangled fibrous textures has been grown to form anisotropic corrugated sheets. Several sites for the Li ion intercalation exist between the layers of ARG and average cell potential was 3.1 V vs $Li/Li^+$ Th charge transfer resistance increases 3 to 4 times as lithium composition increases, but the interphase resistance remains almost constant regardless of the lithium composition in thc ARG.
