Assessment of Dose Distributions According to Low Magnetic Field Effect for Prostate SABR

  • Background: Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) plans in prostate cancer are compared and analyzed to investigate the low magnetic effect (0.35 T) on the dose distribution, with various dosimetric parameters according to low magnetic field. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients who received a 36.25 Gy in five fractions using the MR-IGRT system (ViewRay) were studied. For planning target volume (PTV), the point mean dose ($D_{mean}$), maximum dose ($D_{max}$), minimum dose ($D_{min}$) and volumes receiving 100% ($V_{100%}$), 95% ($V_{95%}$), and 90% ($V_{90%}$) of the total dose. For organs-at-risk (OARs), the differences compared using $D_{max}$, $V_{50%}$, $V_{80%}$, $V_{90%}$, and $V_{100%}$ of the rectum; $D_{max}$, $V_{50%}$, $V_{30Gy}$, $V_{100%}$ of the bladder; and $V_{30Gy}$ of both left and right femoral heads. For both the outer and inner shells near the skin, $D_{mean}$, $D_{min}$, and $D_{max}$ were compared. Results and Discussion: In PTV analysis, the maximum difference in volumes ($V_{100%}$, $V_{95%}$, and $V_{90%}$) according to low magnetic field was $0.54{\pm}0.63%$ in $V_{100%}$. For OAR, there was no significant difference of dose distribution on account of the low magnetic field. In results of the shells, although there were no noticeable differences in dose distribution, the average difference of dose distribution for the outer shell was $1.28{\pm}1.08Gy$ for $D_{max}$. Conclusion: In the PTV and OARs for prostate cancer, there are no statistically-significant differences between the plan calculated with and without a magnetic field. However, we confirm that the dose distribution significantly increases near the body shell when a magnetic field is applied.

  • In 1963, Toomre built up classes of mass models for the highly flattened galaxies which have free parameters n, $a_n$ and $C_n$. In order to keep the universal dimension, we adopt parameters $b_n({C_n}^2={a_n}^{2n}+^2{b_n}^2/(n-1)!)$ insteal of $C_n$. Series of the normalized Toomre's mass models (G = $V_{max}$ =$R_{max}$ = 1, n = 1 to 7) are derived and the normalized parameters $a_n$ and $b_n$ are determined by the iteration method. Replacing parameters $a_n$ and $b_n$ to ${a_n}^l(=a_nr_{max})$ and ${b_n}^l(=b_n\cdotV_{max}/r_{max})$, we can get the generalization of Toomre's mass model.

Rat Intestinal α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Activities of Leguminous Seed Extracts

  • The methanol extracts of 25 leguminous seeds in vitro was evaluated for inhibitory activities against the small intestinal $\alpha$-glucosidase of Sprague Dawley male rats. The responses varied both with leguminous seed types and concentrations used. At the concentration of 0.5 mg/ml, the methanol extracts of Cassia obtusifolia, Glycine max var. yagkong, Glycine max var. hooktae, Glycine max var. geumdu, Glycine max var. mejukong, Glycine soja, Phaseolus multiflorus, Pisum sativum, and Vigna sinensis inhibited over 50% of the enzyme activity. The extracts of G. max var. yagkong and V. sinensis showed relatively strong inhibitory activities against $\alpha$-glucosidase at the concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. The activity of each solvent fraction from G. max var. yagkong and V. sinensis was determined, and potent activities were detected from chloroform and butanol fractions, respectively. $IC_{50}$ values of G. max var. yagkong and V. sinensis were 0.06 and 0.19 mg/ml, respectively. As a naturally occurring therapeutic agents, leguminous seeds examined could be useful for developing new types of antidiabetic agents.

HPLC Method for the Determination of Nicorandil in Human Plasma

  • The present study is to determine of sensitive nicorandil analysis method using HPLC and measure the pharmacokinetics parameters (bioavailability, $C_{max}$, $T_{max}$, Ke, $T_{1/2}$) of nicorandil (5 mg, Tab; Choongwae Pharma Corporation). Plasma (500 ul) was mixed with furosemide (internal standard, 500 ug/ml). Detection wavelength was 256 nm. The mixture of 0.01 M ammonium acetate and acetonitrile 80:20 (v/v) was used mobile phase. The HPLC separation was accomplished on ODC reverse HPLC column. The nicorandil was analyzed by a HPLC system, which consists of CAPCELL PAK C18 column (5 ${\mu}$m, 4.6 × 150 mm) and a chromatography data analysis S/W, using a isocratic mobile phase (mixture of 0.01 M ammonium acetate and acetonitrile 80:20 ) at 1.0 ml/min. Its sensitivity, selectivity, accuracy and precision must be adequate for the bioavailabilty study of nicorandil, and the linearity ($r^2$ ≥ 0.9994) of nicorandil was also proved in the range of 0.05 ug/ml . 3 ug/ml. The pharmacokinetic parameters of nicorandil (5 mg) tablets were measured as the follow. AUC: 0.19 ug/ml·hr, $C_{max}$: 0.14 ug/ml, $t_{max}$: 0.58 hr, Ke: 0.11 hr., $t_{1/2\beta}$: 6.76 hrs. This method is simple and sensitive HPLC method using UV detector for determination of nicorandil in human plasma.

풍차형 구조를 갖는 초음파 전동기의 회전 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Revolution Characteristics of the Ultrasonic Motor with Windmill Type Structure)

  • In this study, a windmill type ultrasonic motor operated by single-phase AC electric field was fabricated, and then revolution characteristics and 3-dimensional vibration mode of the ultrasonic motor were investigated. Brass metal was pressed with umbrella-type using metal mold, then slot of 4 kind was processed at various thickness. It was found that the revolution speed of the ultrasonic motor increased with decreasing the thickness of elastic body. The revolution speed of the ultrasonic motor increased with increasing the slots of elastic body. When the characteristics was measured, applied voltage was changed from $10V_{max}\; to\; 100V_{max}$. Then, revolution was began from $30V_{max}$, if voltage was applied over $90V_{max}$ revolution speed was saturated, and not increased. The maximum revolution speed was 510[rpm] when using elastic body with 6 slots and thickness of 0.15mm. And 3-dimensional displacement mode was rotated clockwise direction.

인체 간 microsome에서 pentoxifylline 대사체 M-1의 시험관내 대사 (In vitro Metabolism of Pentoxifylline Metabolite M-l in Human Liver Microsomes)

  • The metabolism and pharmacokinetics of M-l, which is metabolite of pentoxifylline, have been studied in human liver microsomes. Biphasic kinetics was observed from the Eadie-Hofstee plot for the formation of both metabolites of M-l. For the kinetics of pentoxifylline, mean values of $V_{max1}{\;}and{\;}V_{max2}$ were 1,648 and 5,622 nmol/min/mg protein, and the estimated values of $K_{ml}{\;}and{\;}K_{m2}$ were 0.180 and 4.829 mM, respectively. For M-3, mean values of $V_{max1}{\;}and{\;}V_{max2}$ were 0.062 and 0.491 nmol/min/mg protein, and estimated values of $K_{ml}{\;}and{\;}K_{m2}$ were 0.025 and 1.216 mM. The formations of pentoxifylline and M-3 from M-1 were indentified by using several selective inhibitors of cytochrome P450 isoformes at 0.05-5 mM concentration of M-1 in human liver microsomes. For the analysis of low (0.05 mM) concentration of M-1, where the affinity was expected as low, indicated that CYPlA2 and CYP3A4 were major P450 isoforms responsible for pentoxifylline and M-3 formation. CYP3A4 and CYP2A6 appeared to be P450 isoforms responsible for M-3 formation at high (5 mM) concentration of M-1.

  • 본 논문은 30kW, 95GHz 자이로트론 구동을 위한 $25kV_{max}$, $10mA_{max}$ 출력 사양의 Body Power Supply (BPS)와 $10V_{max}$, $10A_{max}$ 사양을 가지며 50kV 절연이 요구되는 Heater Power Supply (HPS)의 설계에 관하여 기술한다. 자이로트론 구동 효율 향상에 필요한 BPS는 높은 승압비 달성 및 절연에 대한 신뢰성 확보를 위해 8개의 분리된 코어를 사용하여 변압기를 구성하고, 각 코어간의 보상권선을 이용하는 방식을 제안하여 직렬로 구성된 8개의 고전압 정류부 간의 전압 불균형 문제를 해결 한다. HPS는 50kV 전위가 인가되는 코일 가열을 위해 사용되는 전원으로 내부 고주파 변압기를 이용하여 효율적인 절연 설계를 구현한다. 30kW, 95GHz 자이로트론 구동 시스템의 신뢰성 확보와 전원장치의 높은 전력밀도 달성을 위해 두 전원장치는 공진형 컨버터 토폴로지를 기반으로 설계하고, 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통해 개발된 전원의 우수성을 검증한다.

홍삼 섭취가 유.무산소성 운동수행능력과 중추 및 말초피로에 미치는 영향 (Effects of red ginseng supplementation on aerobic.anaerobic performance, central and peripheral fatigue)

  • 본 연구는 8주간의 홍삼 투여가 중추피로 및 말초피로에 미치는 영향과 홍삼 투여와 지구성 트레이닝을 병행 했을 경우, 홍삼이 유 무산소성 운동수행능력에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 그 결과 홍삼 섭취와 지구성 트레이닝을 병행하는 것이 홍삼 섭취와 지구성 트레이닝을 단독으로 적용하는 것 보다 유산소성 운동수행능력과 말초피로에 높은 효과를 기대할 수 있으며, 홍삼의 섭취가 중추피로에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대된다. 하지만, 무산소성 운동수행능력에는 큰 영향을 주지 못하는 것으로 생각된다. 이에, 본 연구를 통해 검증된 홍삼의 피로회복 및 운동수행능력 향상 효과는 추후 일반인뿐만 아니라 운동선수의 운동능력향상 보조물(Ergogenic aid)로써 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.

탄소 나노튜브 위에 붕소 및 탄소 질화 박막이 코팅된 이종접합 구조 미세팁의 전자방출 특성 (Electron Emission Properties of Hetero-Junction Structured Carbon Nanotube Microtips Coated With BN And CN Thin Films)

  • Boron nitride (BN) and carbon nitride (CN) films, which have relatively low work functions and commonly exhibit negative electron affinity behaviors, were coated on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by magnetron sputtering. The CNTs were directly grown on metal-tip (tungsten, approximately 500nm in diameter at the summit part) substrates by inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD). The variations in the morphology and microstructure of CNTs due to coating of the BN and CN films were analyzed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy were used to identify the existence of the coated layers (CN and BN) on CNTs. The electron-emission properties of the BN-coated and CN-coated CNT-emitters were characterized using a high-vacuum field emission measurement system, in terms of their maximum emission currents ($I_{max}$) at 1kV and turn-on voltage ($V_{on}$) for approaching $1{\mu}A$. The results showed that the $I_{max}$ current was significantly increased and the $V_{on}$ voltage were remarkably reduced by the coating of CN or BN films. The measured values of $I_{max}-V_{on}$ were as follows; $176{\mu}A$-500V for the 5nm CN-coated emitter and $289{\mu}A$-540V for the 2nm BN-coated emitter, respectively, while the $I_{max}-V_{on}$ of the as-grown (i.e., uncoated) emitter was $134{\mu}A$-620V. In addition, the CNT emitters coated with thin CN or BN films also showed much better long-term (up to 25h) stability behaviors in electron emission, as compared with the conventional CNT emitter.

한국 남자 대학생을 대상으로 시행한 Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test에서 Treadmill과 Cycle Ergometer의 비교 분석 (Comparison of Treadmill and Cycle Ergometer in Male Korean College Students)

  • 연구배경: 최대 산소 섭취량 ($VO_2$ max) 은 답차 운동시 자전거시 보다 높게 측정이 되는데, Hassen과 Wasserman 등에 의하면 답차 시 약 1.11배 정도 높게 측정된다고 하였다. $VO_2$ max는 나이, 성별, 키, 체중 등 뿐만 아니라 인종, 사회문화적 배경 및 운동 습관에 따라서도 영향을 받을 수 있음이 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국 대학생 연령의 성인을 대상으로 답차와 자전거 운동시 $VO_2$ max와 무산소 역치에서의 산소 섭취량 (AT)을 측정, 비교하였다. 방법: 1998 년 6월부터 9월까지 연세대학교 의과대학에 재학중인 남학생 44명을 대상 으로 하였다. 이들을 무작위로 2군으로 나누어 24명은 답차를 우선 시행 후 1주일 후 자전거로 운동을 시행하였고 20명은 자전거를 우선 시행 후 답차를 시행하였다. 증상 제한적 최대 운동 시행토록 하였으며, 최소한 호흡 교환비(RER) 가 1.1을 초과한 경우, 최대 산소 섭취량이 30초 이상 평점을 이룬 경우, 최대 운동시 심박 예비율이 15% 미만이거나 또는 호흡 예비율이 30% 미만일 경우를 최대 운동으로 정의하였고 이들 중 한가지라도 충족시키지 못한 경우에는 최대운동을 하지 않은 것으로 (submaximal exercise) 간주하여 연구에서 제외하였다. AT는 V-slope method로 구하였다. 결과: 답차 운동시의 $VO_2$ max와 AT 의 값은 각각 $45.1{\pm}6.66 m\ell$/kg/min, $26.0{\pm}6.78 m\ell$/kg/min 이었으며, 자전거 운동시에는 각각 $34.9{\pm}5.89 m\ell$/kg/min, $19.5{\pm}4.77 m\ell$/kg/min 이었다. 측정-$VO_2$ max/예측 $VO_2$ max 의 값은 답차 운동시 $98.8{\pm}13.24 %$ 이었으며, 자전거 운동시 $84.4{\pm}13.42 %$ 이었다. 자전거의 결과로 답차 운동시 $VO_2$ max 의 예측치를 구할 때 쓰이는 Hassen등의 공식을 이용하여 이를 실제 답차 운동시 얻어진 $VO_2$ max값과 비교해 보았을 때 두 값 사이의 차이는 통계적으로 유의하였다 (p<0.01). 최대 운동시 심박 예비율, 산소/맥, 호흡 예비율, $V_E$/MVV, $V_E/VCO_2$는 (답차 운동과 자전거 운동사이에 차이가 있었다 ). 그러나 $V_E/VO_2$, Vd/Vt, Ti/Ttot는 차이가 없었다. AT에서는 산소/맥, 호흡 예비율, $V_E$/MVV, Ti/Ttot값은 차이가 있었으나 나머지 값들은 그렇지 못하였다. 결론: 본 연구에서 보았듯이 답차와 자전거 사이의 차이가 크므로 결과의 해석에 이용시 유의해야 할 것이며, 향후 한국인에서 적용할 수 있는 참고치를 구하려는 노력이 필요할 것으로 여겨진다.
