The formation of $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds, i.e., $CoTiO_3$ and $CO_2TiO_4$, in a 5wt% $CoO_x/TiO_2$ catalyst after calcination at different temperatures has been characterized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements to verify our earlier model associated with $CO_3O_4$ nanoparticles present in the catalyst, and laboratory-synthesized $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ chemicals have been employed to directly measure their activity profiles for CO oxidation at $100^{\circ}C$. SEM measurements with the synthetic $CoTiO_3$ and $CO_2TiO_4$ gave the respective tetragonal and rhombohedral morphology structures, in good agreement with the earlier XRD results. Weak Raman peaks at 239, 267 and 336 $cm^{-1}$ appeared on 5wt% $CoO_x/TiO_2$ after calcination at $570^{\circ}C$ but not on the catalyst calcined at $450^{\circ}C$, and these peaks were observed for the $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds, particularly $CoTiO_3$. All samples of the two cobalt titanate possessed O ls XPS spectra comprised of strong peaks at $530.0{\pm}0.1$ eV with a shoulder at a 532.2-eV binding energy. The O ls structure at binding energies near 530.0 eV was shown for a sample of 5 wt% $CoO_x/TiO_2$, irrespective to calcination temperature. The noticeable difference between the catalyst calcined at 450 and $570^{\circ}C$ is the 532.2 eV shoulder which was indicative of the formation of the $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds in the catalyst. No long-life activity maintenance of the synthetic $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds for CO oxidation at $100^{\circ}C$ was a good vehicle to strongly sup port the reason why the supported $CoO_x$ catalyst after calcination at $570^{\circ}C$ had been practically inactive for the oxidation reaction in our previous study; consequently, the earlier proposed model for the $CO_3O_4$ nanoparticles existing with the catalyst following calcination at different temperatures is very consistent with the characterization results and activity measurements with the cobalt titanates.
$Y_2Ti_2O_7$ nanoparticles (0.3 mol%) have been successfully synthesized by the co-precipitation process. The samples, adjusted to pH7 with ammonia solution as catalyst and calcined at $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$, exhibit very fine particles with close to spherical shape and average size of 10-30 nm. It was possible to control the size of the synthesized $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ particles by manipulating the conditions. The $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ nanoparticles were coated on a glass substrate by a dipping coating process with inorganic binder. The $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ solution coated on the glass substrate had excellent adhesion of 5B; pencil hardness test results indicated an excellent hardness of 6H. The thickness of the thick film was about $30{\mu}m$. Decomposition of MB on the $Y_2Ti_2O_7$ thin film shows that the photocatalytic properties were excellent.

This study focuses on the difference of photocatalytic activity depending on crystal structure type of nanoparticles ($TiO_2$) and nanotubes (TNT). The photodecomposition of 2-chlorophenol on the synthesized $TiO_2$, Sn-impregnated $TiO_2$, TNT, and Snimpregnated TNT were evaluated. The characteristics of the synthesized photocatalyts, TNT, Sn/TNT, $TiO_2$, and Sn/$TiO_2$ were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), and cyclic voltammeter (CV). The water-suspended 2-chlorophenol photodegradation over $TiO_2$ (anatase structure) catalyst was better than that over pure TNT. Particularly, the water-suspended 2-chlorophenol of 10 ppm was perfectly decomposed within 4 h over Sn/$TiO_2$ photocatalyst.
Nickel nanoparticle-poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)/$TiO_2-ZrO_2$ composite (Ni-PVP/$TiO_2-ZrO_2$) was prepared by in situ polymerization method. The physical and chemical properties of Ni-PVP/$TiO_2-ZrO_2$ were investigated by XRD, FT-IR, BET, TGA, SEM and TEM techniques. The catalytic performance of this novel heterogeneous catalyst was determined for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction between aryl halides and phenylboronic acid in the presence of methanol-water mixture as solvent. The effects of reaction temperature, the amount of catalyst, amount of support, solvent, and amount of metal for the synthesis of Ni-PVP/$TiO_2-ZrO_2$, were investigated as well as recyclability of the heterogeneous composite. The catalyst used for this synthetically useful transformation showed considerable level of reusability besides very good activity.

Fe- and V-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles consisting of spherical primary nanoparticles were synthesized from a mixed liquid precursor by using the flame spray pyrolysis. The effects of dopant concentration on the powder properties such as morphology, crystal structure, and light adsorption were analyzed by TEM, XRD, and UV-Vis spectrophotometer, respectively. As the V/Ti molar ratio increased, pure anatase particles were synthesized. On the contrary, rutile phase particles were synthesized as the Fe/Ti ratio increased. Photocatalytic property of as-prepared $TiO_2:Fe,V$ nanoparticles was investigated by measuring the removal efficiency for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) under the irradiation of visible light. After 2 hrs under visible light, the removal efficiencies of benzene, p-xylene, ethylbenzene, and toluene were reached to 21.9%, 21.4%, 19.8% and 17.6% respectively.
We report a purely protein-based platform for green fluorescence by mixing silk protein with green fluorescence protein, and also report its enhancement by the incorporation of TiO2 nanoparticles. The TiO2 nanoparticles employed have diameters of 100 and 300 nm, with a significant increase in fluorescence (by a factor of 7.5) observed when introducing 300-nm TiO2 nanoparticles. Furthermore, an increase in particle distribution density is found to enhance fluorescence amplification. These research findings suggest that protein-based fluorescent films can be enhanced by the characteristics of nanoparticles, opening up new possibilities in the fields of optics and fluorescence applications.
This study proposed the fabrication and deposition of high purity crystalline $core-TiO_2/shell-Al_2O_3$ nanoparticles. Morphological properties of $core-TiO_2$ and coated $shell-Al_2O_3$ were confirmed by transmission electron microscope (TEM) and transmission electron microscope - energy dispersive spectroscopy (TEM-EDS). The electrical properties of the prepared $core-TiO_2/shell-Al_2O_3$ nanoparticles were evaluated by applying them to a working electrode of a Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC). The particle size, growth rate and the main crystal structure of $core-TiO_2$ were analyzed through dynamic light scattering system (DLS), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The $core-TiO_2$, which has a particle size of 17.1 nm, a thin film thickness of $20.1{\mu}m$ and a main crystal structure of anatase, shows higher electrical efficiency than the conventional paste-based dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). In addition, the energy conversion efficiency (6.28%) of the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) using the $core-TiO_2/shell-Al_2O_3$ nanoparticles selectively controlled to the working electrode is 26.1% higher than the energy conversion efficiency (4.99%) of the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) using the conventional paste method.
Effect of sulfation processes on the physicochemical properties of ZrO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles were thoroughly investigated. SO4/ZrO2 and SO4/TiO2 catalysts were synthesized to identify the acidity character of each. The wet impregnation method of ZrO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles was employed using H2SO4 with various concentrations of 0.5, 0.75, and 1 M, followed by calcination at 400, 500, and 600 ℃ to obtain optimum conditions of the catalyst synthesis process. The highest total acidity was found when using 1 M SO4/ZrO2-500 and 1 M SO4/TiO2-500 catalysts, with total acidity values of 2.642 and 6.920 mmol/g, respectively. Sulfation increases titania particles via agglomeration. In contrast, sulfation did not practically change the size of zirconia particles. The sulfation process causes color of both catalyst particles to brighten due to the presence of sulfate. There was a decrease in surface area and pore volume of catalysts after sulfation; the materials' mesoporous structural properties were confirmed. The 1 M SO4/ZrO2 and 1 M SO4/TiO2 catalysts calcined at 500 ℃ are the best candidate heterogeneous acid catalysts synthesized in thus work.
