Growth of the substrate crystals for $La_{2-x}Sr_{x}CuO_{4}$ thick films

  • The distribution coefficients of Ni and Zn to the Cu site in $La_{2-x}Sr_{x}CuO_{4}$(LCO) were investigated to determine the suitable solvent composition ofr crystal growth of $La_{2}{Cu}_{1-x}{M}_{x}{O}_{4}$(M=NI, Zn)(LCMO), and were found to be 4.2 for NI and 0.66 for Zn, respectively. Single crystals of LCO, and LCMO of high homogeneity were grown by traveling solvent floating zone technique using suitable solvents. NO diamagnetic signals were observed for all substituted crystals. This fact suggests that crystals of LCO partially substituted by Ni or Zn are useful as substrate crystals.

Synthesis of high quality infinite-layer superconducting compound of Sr$_{0.9}$Sm$_{0.1}$CuO$2$ and its pinning properties

  • We report high pressure synthesis of Sr$_{0.9}$Sm$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$. Powder x-ray diffraction showed that the synthesized compounds have infinite layer structure as a major component. Slow heating at the first stage of heating processes after pressurization resulted in several larger grains. The largest grain was found to have the longest edge length of about 100 micrometer. Through magnetic property measurement in superconducting state, we found that pinning in this compound has substantial difference from that of La doped infinite layer, which has no unpaired spin at Sr site.

칼슘 코발트 층상 산화물계 열전반도체의 제조와 물성 (Processing and Properties of Calcium Cobaltite Layer Structure Oxide Thermoelectrics)

  • 칼슘 코발트 층상 산화물계에서 $Ca_3Co_2O_6$$Ca_3Co_4O_9$를 기본으로 하여 열전 특성 향상을 위해 Ca 위치를 Bi, Sr, La, K로 부분 치환하고, Co위치를 Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn로 치환한 다결정 산화물을 제조하여 $300{\sim}1000K$ 까지의 열전 특성을 분석하였다. Bi가 치환된 $Ca_3Co_4O_9$계의 $Ca_{2.7}Bi_{0.3}Co_4O_9$는 전기전도도 $85.4({\Omega}cm)^{-1}, Seebeck계수 $176.2{\mu}V/K$그리고 파워팩터 $265.2{\mu}W/K^m$로 가장 높은 열전 물성치가 관찰되었다. 열전 모듈 제조를 위해서 각각의 열전반도체의 성능지수Z($10^{-4}/K$)가 0.87, 0.41의 값인 p형 열전 소재로 $Ca_{2.7}Bi_{0.3}Co_4O_9$를, n형 열전 소재로($Zn_{0.98}Al_{0.02}$)O를 선택하여 열전쌍을 제조하였다. 제조된 2쌍의 기본 열전쌍은 120K의 온도차에서 약 30mV정도의 기전력이 나타났다.

Superconductivity of infinite layer cuprate

  • The infinite layer compound $ACuO_2$, (A-Alkaline earth) consists of infinite stacking of $CuO_2$ planes separated only by alkaline earth ions. This compound attracted much attention because it contains only key ingredient of all cuprate high temperature superconductor; $CuO_2$ plane with controllable carrier concentration without charge reservoir block. High pressure synthesis method has been found to be preferable for this system due to its ability of doping various lanthanide ion into A site with larger superconducting volume fraction. But rigorous study on this rudimentary compound has been hindered by insufficient quality of sample. Especially superconductlng volume fraction was often too small to identify its origin. In this presentation, we report high pressure synthesis of $Sr_{0.9}Ln_{0.1}CuO_2$ (Ln=La, Sm). By controlling the heating temperature precisely during high pressure synthesis we could have superconductors with quite high superconducting volume fraction for this compound. The magnetic properties of the graln aligned samples show very different behavior compared to the cuprate high temperature superconductors. Details will be discussed.

High-$I_c$ single-coat YBCO films prepared by the MOD process

  • A single-coat $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (YBCO) film of high critical currents ($I_c$) could be successfully fabricated by optimizing the viscosity of the coating solution in the metal-organic deposition (MOD) process. From a Ba-deficient coating solution (Y: Ba: Cu = 1: 1.5: 3) having the viscosity of 212 $mPa{\cdot}sec$, 0.9 ${\mu}m$-thick single coat YBCO film with the $I_c$ value of 289 A/cm-width ($J_c$ = 3.2 MA/$cm^2$) at 77 K was achievable on the $SrTiO_3$ (STO) substrate, which was superior to that of our previous report for 0.8 ${\mu}m$-thick single coat YBCO film from a stoichiometric coating solution (Y: Ba: Cu = 1: 2: 3) on the $LaAlO_3$ (LAO) substrate. This result might be attributed to denser and more homogeneous microstrcuture in the case of the YBCO film from the Ba-deficient coating solution.

Efficacy of Ag-CuO Filler Tape for the Reactive Air Brazing of Ceramic-Metal Joints

  • This paper reports the efficacy of tape casting using an Ag-10 wt% CuO filler for the successful joining of a sintered $Ce_{0.9}Gd_{0.1}O_{2-{\delta}}-La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}MnO_{3{\pm}{\delta}}$ (GDC-LSM) ceramic with a SUS 460 FC metal alloy by reactive air brazing. The as-prepared green tape was highly flexible without drying cracks, and the handling was easy when used as a filler material for reactive air brazing. Heat treatment for the GDC-LSM/SUS 460 FC joint was performed at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in air. Microstructural observations indicated a reliable and compact joining. The room temperature mechanical shear strength of the as-brazed joints was $60{\pm}8MPa$ with a cohesive failure. The flexural strength of joints was measured from room temperature up to $850^{\circ}C$, where the strength retention revealed to be almost 100% at $500^{\circ}C$. However, the joints showed a degradation in strengths at 800 and $850^{\circ}C$, exhibiting strength retentions of 57% and 37%, respectively.

전기화학환원에 의한 이산화탄소의 수소화 반응연구 (A study on the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide)

  • 지구온난화방지를 위한 이산화탄소 고정화 기술로는 주로 접촉수소화에 의한 탄화수소의 제조가 주로 연구, 검토되고 있으나 값비싼 수소의 확보가 큰 걸림돌로 작용하고 있으며, 기타 해조류 합성 등에 의한 생물학적 고정화 방법도 연구되고 있다. 전기화학적 환원에 의한 이산화탄소 고정화 방법은 전해질 용액중 촉매전극으로 전기화학반응을 일으켜 이산화탄소를 메탄, 에탄, 알코올 등으로 전환시키는 것으로 접촉수소화 방법과 같은 원리로 생각할 수 있으나 전기분해와 동시에 수소화 반응을 일으키므로 장치가 간단하고 심야의 잉여전력을 이용할 수 있는 동의 장점으로 최근 연구개발이 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 환원전극으로 구리 및 페롭스카이트($La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}CuO_3$) 분말을 시료로 하여 제조한 전극을 사용하였고, 기준전극으로는 Ag/AgCl, 상대전극으로는 백금전극을 사용하였다. 전해액은 $KHCO_3$ 수용액에 이산화탄소를 포화시키고 이를 반응조에 순환시키는 연속흐름식 전해환원시스템을 사용하였다. 환원전극의 크기는 $2{\times}2cm$, 상대전극의 크기는 $2{\times}6cm$의 것을 사용하였고, 전해환원 결과 얻어지는 기상의 생성물과 액상의 생성물을 분석하였다. 또한 전해질의 농도, 페롭스카이트 전극의 제조방법에 따라 환원전류의 크기 및 반응생성물의 종류와 발생량을 측정하였다.
