Study on the reducibility of substituted $LaMnO_3$ (치환된 $LaMnO_3$의 환원반응성에 대한 연구)

  • $LaMnO_3$ and A site substituted $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_3$(a=$5.33\AA$, c=$13.27\AA$), B site substituted $LaMn_{0.9}Cu_{0.1}O_3$(a=$5.52\AA$, c=$13.31\AA$) mixed oxides were prepared by Citrate sol-gel method. The powder X-ray diffraction patterns of these oxides were indexed with single phase hexagonal perovskite structures. According to the TRR result, oxygen stoichiometry of these oxides were oxidative nonstoichiometry as like $LaMnO_{3.16}$, $La_{0.9}Sr_{0.1}MnO_{3.10}$ and $LaMn_{0.9}Cu_{0.1}O_{3.14}$ Reduction reactions of un-substituted $LaMnO_3$ was two steps, but specific site(A site of B site) partially substituted $LaMnO_3$ oxides were procees to three reactions.

  • The electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction to produce acetaldehyde, methanol and ethanol is investigated by using perovskite type electrode ($La_{0.9}$$Sr_{0.1}$$CuO_3$). The experiments were Performed under 100 mA/cm2 and -2 to -2.5 V vs. Ag/AgCl. The highest faradaic efficiencies for methanol, ethanol, acetaldehyde were 11.6, 15.3, and 6.2%, respectively. The experimental data demonstrated that the capability of the perovskite type oxide for the electrode of electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction to produce alcohols was superior to other metal electrode. Synthesis of new Pb-based layered cuprates in (Pb,S)(Sr,La)CuOz compounds

  • The effect of sulfate substitution on the formation of (Pb,S)-1201 type phase was investigated. Polycrystalline samples with nominal compositions of $(Pb_{0.5}B_{0.5-x}S_x)(Sr_{2-y}La_y)CuO_z$, (x = 0 - 0.5, y = 0.7 - 1.0) and $(Pb_{0.5}S_{0.5})(Sr_{2-y}La_y)CuO_z$ (y = 0.5 - 1.0) were prepared by using a solid-state reaction method. The samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and resistivity measurements. XRD data revealed that almost-single (Pb,S)-1201 phase samples could be obtained for x = 0.5 and y = 0.9-1.0, judging from the similar results of the XRD patterns between the (Pb,S)-1201 and (Pb,B)-1201 phases. Each of the samples has a crystal structure with tetragonal symmetry. The sample with x = 0.5 and y = 0.9 is found to show an onset of resistivity dropping at over 23 K and zero resistivity at 12 K.

  • Biepitaxial Y$_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) and La$_{0.2}Sr_{0.8}MnO_3$ (LSMO) thin films have been prepared on SrTiO$_3$ buffer layer and MgO seed layer grown on Al$_2O_3$(11${\bar{2}}$0)substrates by dc-sputtering with hollow cylindrical targets, respectively. We charaterized Josephson properties and significantly large magnetoresistance in YBCO and LSMO films with 45$^{\circ}$ grain boundary junction, respectively. The observed working voltage (I$_cR_n$) at 77 K in grain boundary junction was below 10${\mu}$V, which is typical I$_cR_n$ value of single biepitaxial Josephson junction. The field magnetoresistance ratio (MR) of LSMO grain boundary juncoon at 77K was enhanced to 13%, which it was significant MR value with high magnetic field sensitivity at a low field of 250 Oe. These results indicate that inserting the insulating layer instead of the grain boundary layer with metallic phase can be possible to apply a new SIS Josephson junction and a novel magnetic device using spin-polarized tunneling junction.

Optical Properties of Infinite-Layer Superconductors $Sr_{0.9}$$Ln_{0.1}$Cu$O_2$ (LnLa, Gd, Sm) (무한층 초전도체 $Sr_{0.9}Ln_{0.1}CuO_2$(Ln=La, Gd, Sm)의 광학적 성질)

  • We have measured the reflectivity of superconducting infinite-layer compounds $Sr_{0.9}$ $Ln_{0.1}$ Cu $O_2$ (Ln=La, Gd, Sm) with $T_{c}$ : 39 K using a Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer. We have identified the optical phonon modes from their infrared reflectivity and conductivity spectra and have proposed possible displacement patterns. The La- and the Gd-doped compounds exhibited only four ($2A_{2u}$ $+2E_{u}$) out of the five ($2A_{2u}$ $3E_{u}$) infrared-active phonons predicted by a group theoretical analysis whereas the Sm-doped compound exhibited all five modes. For the La-doped sample, we investigated the temperature dependence of the optical response functions in a wide temperature range of 7 - 300 K. In FIR region, the reflectivity is apparently enhanced below ~120 $cm^{-1}$ as temperature decreases across $T_{c}$. The value of $2$\Delta$/k_{B}$ $T_{c}$ is about 4.5, which is consistent with maximum gap value of d-wave $high- T_{c}$ cuprates.> c/ cuprates.uprates.s.

Magnetic relaxation measurement of infinite layer superconductor Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$

  • The time dependence of irreversible magnetization of grain aligned infinite layer superconductor Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$ was measured in temperature range of 2 K < T < 30 K for H= 0.5 T, 1.0 T and 1.5 T parallel to c-axis. From this, we calculated normalized flux creep rate S(T) ${\equiv}$ dlnM/dlnt and found that the temperature independent region in S(T) is significantly wide in comparision with other cuprate superconductors. Using the method of Maley et al., we also deduce the current density dependence of pinning potential and glassy exponent ${\mu}$.

  • We have measured the Hall effect in infinite-layer Sr/sub 0.9/La/sub 0.1/$CuO_2$ thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. We do not observe $T^{2}$ dependence of the cotangent of Hall angle, which is commonly observed in other cuprate High-Tc superconductors. Therefore, this result cannot be interpreted within two different scattering mechanism based on charge-spin separation theory. The mixed-state Hall effect shows no sign anomaly, implying that tile hydrodynamic contribution of vortex core is negligibly small.

Effect of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 addition on superconducting properties and local structure of (Bi, Pb)-2223 superconductor

  • The effect of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) addition on the superconducting property of Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ ((Bi, Pb)-2223) polycrystalline samples was studied. LSMO (0.3 wt.% to 2.0 wt.%) added (Bi, Pb)-2223 samples were prepared by using a solid-state reaction method. The XRD analyses show that as the LSMO addition increases, the volume fraction of the Bi-2223 phase is gradually decreased. The critical temperature (Tc) exhibits a gradual decrease with a single transition as the LSMO amount increases up to 1.0 wt.%, but a further addition of LSMO induces an abrupt decrease of Tc with a dual transition. The analyses on the local structure of the CuO2 plane from the X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements showed that for the samples with low concentration of LSMO up to 1.0 wt.%, the Cu-O bond length and the CuO2 plane ordering do not degrade from the values of pure (Bi, Pb)-2223, while they get worsen with a further increase of LSMO addition. These results open up the possibility of LSMO as artificial pinning centers of the (Bi, Pb)-2223 system for power application.

  • We report high pressure synthesis of electron doped infinite layer superconductor Sr$_{0.9}$La$_{0.1}$CuO$_2$. Structural and low-field magnetization study demonstrated that the superconducting quality of our samples were best among all kind of bulk samples reported until now. With these good samples, many new findings are under going by our collaborators and us.
