Electrical and mechanical properties of NiO doped Pb(Ni$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$-PbTiO$_3$-PbZrO$_3$-ceramics (NiO-Doped Pb(Ni$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$-PbTiO$_3$-PbZr$_3$-O세라믹스의 전기 및 기계적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Dielectric properties, piezoelectric properties and mechanical properties of NiO-doped Pb($(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3-PbZrO_3$ ceramics were investigated. Powders, prepared by columbite precursor method, were cold pressed and sintered at temperature ranging from $1100^{\circ}C$ to $1250^{\circ}C$. Dielectric constant and piezoelectric constant increased with amount of NiO up to 1 mol% and then decreased with further addition of NiO. It seems that NiO acts as a sintering aid at the sintering temperatures of $1150^{\circ}C$. When the samples were sintered at temperature above $1200^{\circ}C$, however, both dielectric constant and electromechanical coupling factor decreased and mechanical quality coefficient increased with addition of NiO. Hardness and fracture toughness of PNN-PT-PZ increased with addition of NiO up to 1 mol%, and then decreased slightly with further addition of NiO. These results showed that dielectric properties, piezoelectric properties and mechanical properties of PNN-PT-PZ system seemed to be closely related with microstructural factors such as grain size, bulk density and the amount of second phase.

  • In this study, in order to develop the multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic resonator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated by sintering with $Li_2CO_3-Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids at $950^{\circ}C$ and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated as a function of PNN substitution. With increasing PNN substitution, dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_r$), electromechanical coupling factor(kp), and piezoelectric d constant($d_{33}$) were increased to $12 mol\%$ PNN substitution and then showed a tendency to decrease rapidly With increasing PNN substitution, crystal structure changed from tetragonal to rhombohedral at $12 mol\%$ PNN substitution and then secondary phase was appeared and its intensity was increased. At the $12 mol\%$ PNN substituted PMN-PZT composition ceramic sintered at $950^{\circ}C$, density, kp, $d_{33}$ and Qm showed the optimum value of $7.79 g/cm^3$, 0.599, 419 pC/N, and 894, respectively for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • In this study, (0.80-x)Pb($Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-$PbTiO_3$-Pb($Ni_\frac{1}{2}W_\frac{1}{2}$)$O_3$ 0.05$\leq$x$\leq$0.20) ceramics were fabricated by the mixed oxide method, the sintering temperature and time were 950∼1200[$^{\circ}C$], 2[hr], respectively. The dielectric and structural properties with composition and sintering temperature were investigated for the application as multilayer ceramic capacitors. Dielectric constant of 0.70PMN-0.2PT-0.10PNW composition with repeated calcination was increased rapidly. Increasing the Pb($Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-$PbTiO_3$-Pb($Ni_\frac{1}{2}W_\frac{1}{2}$)$O_3$ contents from 0.05 to 0.20 [mol], phase transition temperature was shifted from 68 to 2[$^{\circ}C$] and dielectric constant was decreased while sintered density was increased. In the specimens containing 0.10, 0.15[mol] of PNW, dielectri constants at room temperature were exhibited the highest values 11199, 10114, respectively. Resistivity of specimens were $10^{10}$$10^{12}$($\Omega$.m) and there was no dependence on sintering temperature and composition.

  • PbTiO$_{3}$-PbZrO$_{3}$-Pb(Ni$_{1}$3/Nb $_{2}$3/O$_{3}$)(PZT-PNN) thin films were prepared from corresponding metal organics partially stabilized with diethanolamine by the sol-gel spin coating method. Each mol rates of PT:PZ:PNN solutions were #1(50:40:10), #2(50:30:20), #3(45:35:20) and #4(40:40:20), respectively. The spin-coated PZT-PNN films were sintered at the temperature from 500.deg. C to 600.deg. C for crystallization. The P-E hysteresis curve was drawn by Sawyer-Tower circuit with PZT-PNN film. The coercive field and the remanent polarization of #4(40:40:20 mol%) PZT-PNN film were 28.8 kV/cm and 18.3 .mu.C/cm$^{2}$, respectively. Their dielectric constants were shown between 128 and 1120, and became maximum value in MPB(40:40:20 mol%). The leakage currents of PZT-PNN films were about 9.4x 10$^{-8}$ A/cm$^{2}$, and the breakdown voltages were about 0.14 and 1.1 MV/cm. The Curie point of #3(45:35:20 mol%, sintered at 600.deg. C) film was 330.deg. C.

  • High power piezoelectric materials are presently being extensively developed for applications such as ultrasonic motors and piezoelectric transformer In this study, the piezoelectric and dielectric properties of $MnO_2$ doped $0.36Pb(Sc_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_{3}-0.25Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-0.39PbTiO_3$ (hereafter PSNNT), which is the morphotropic phase boundary composition of the PSN-PNN-PT system were investigated. $MnO_2$-addition into the $0.36Pb(Sc_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_{3}-0.25Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-0.39PbTiO_3$ composition increases the piezoelectric coefficient up to $k_{p}{\fallingdotseq}$55.6[%] and $Q_{m}{\fallingdotseq}$252. Moreover, $MnO_2$ addition makes tetragonal phase more stable with respect to rhombohedral phase.

  • $Fe_2O_3$ added Pb$(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3-PbZrO_3 $ (PNN-PT-PZ) ceramics were produced in order to use them as a bimoph acturator for energy harvesting. Especially, the 0.25 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ added 0.4PNN-0.357PT-0.243PZ, having the composition of morphotropic phase boundary, showed good piezoelectric properties of $d_{33}$ of 810 pC/N, $k_p$ of 77% and $Q_m$ of 55 along with a high Curie temperature of $210^{\circ}C$. A bimorph actuator, composed of the two piezoelectric layers bonded together with a phosphorous bronze layer as a central metallic electrode, was successfully fabricated. The bimorph actuator, vibrated with a 1.3 mm amplitude at 68 Hz, produced high electric power of approximately 60 mW.

  • In order to apply a complex multilayer chip LC filter, this study has estimated the interfacial reaction and coupling properties of dielectric materials $Pb(Fe_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$ and Ni-Zn-Cu ferrite materials through low-temperature co-sintering (LTCS). PFN powders were fabricated using double calcinated at $700^{\circ}C$ and then $850^{\circ}C$. While the perovskite phase rate was found to be 91 %, after heat treatment at $900^{\circ}C$ for 6h, the perovskite phase rate and density exhibited a value of 100 % and 7.46$g/cm^3$, respectively. The PFN/Ni-Zn-Cu ferrite, PFN/CUO (or $Pb_2Fe_2O_5$) and ferrite/CuO (or $Pb_2Fe_2O_5$) were mechanically coupled through interfacial reactions after the specimen was co-sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ for 6 h. No intermediate layer exists for the mutual coupling reaction. This result indicates the possibility of low-temperature co-sintering without any interfacial reaction layer for a multilayer chip LC filter.

Physical properties of $PbZrO_3-PbTiO_3-Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ thin films by sol-gel method (Sol-gel법에 의한 $PbZrO_3-PbTiO_3-Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$박막의 물리적 특성)

  • PbTiO$_{3}$-PbZrO$_{3}$-Pb(Ni$_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/O$_{3}$) (PZT-PNN) thin films were prepared from corresponding metal organics partially stabilized with diethanolamine by the sol-gel spin coating method. Each mol ratio of PT:PZ:PNN solutions were #1(50:40:10), #2(50:30:20), #3(45:35:20), #4(40:40:20), #5(40:50:10), #6(35:45:20) and #7(30:50:20) respectively. The spin-coated PZT-PNN films were heat-treated at 350.deg. C for decomposition of residual organics, and were sintered from 450.deg. C to 750.deg. C for crystallization. The substrates, such as Pt and Pt/TiN/Ti/TiN/Si were used for the spin coating of PZT PNN films. The perovskite phase was observed in the PZT-PNN films heat-treated at 500.deg. C. The crystalline of the PZT-PNN films was optimized at the sintering of 700.deg. C. By the result of AES analysis, It is confirmed that the films of TiN/Ti/TiN was a good diffusion barrier and that co-diffusion into the each films was not observed.
