Because of the high water content of the household garbage, it is difficult to compost it. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the possibility of using coal fly ash as humidity conditioner for the household garbage composting. The summarized results are as follows : 1. The maximum temperatures were $35^{\circ}C$ in spring, $47^{\circ}C$ in summer, and $43^{\circ}C$ in winter during the composting periods. 2. The mass was reduced to 70.5% after 60 days. The average volume reduced down to 74.7% after 60 days. 3. The seasonal variation of pH values showed a similar tendency and reached 8.5 after 60 days. 4. The water content was reduced at an early stage of composting and not much changed thereafter. It had 49.7% in spring, 33.9% in summer, and 56.5% in winter after 60 days. Ash contents were not much changed during the composting periods. 5. The contents of inorganic compounds were in the range of $0.06{\sim}4.03%$$P_2O_5$, $0.01{\sim}2.87%$ CaO, $0.18{\sim}1.43%$ MgO, and $0.39{\sim}2.03%$$K_2O$. Heavy metal contents were in the range of $ND{\sim}14.08$ Hg ${\mu}g/kg$, $ND{\sim}0.80$ Cd mg/kg, $4.99{\sim}28.95$ Cu mg/kg, $ND{\sim}242.62$ Cr mg/kg, $ND{\sim}20.24$ Pb mg/kg, and $ND{\sim}59.87$ Zn mg/kg.
Effect of microbiological product manure (Bio-com) on the growth and yield of vegetables and on physico-chemical properties of soil. Leaf lettuce and Garland Chrysanthemum were taken for test plants. A Jungdong (Series) silty loam soil was used for pot experiments. The results are summarized as following: 1. Treatment with Bio-com stimulated plant growth that were increased in the number of leaf, leaf area, plant height and root length both for Leaf lettuce and Garland Cyrysanthemum. 2. Yield increase of 123-1170% was obtained from Bio-com treatments compared to N.P.K.+manure treatment. Application of 2250 kg/10a of Bio-com gave the highest yield. 3. Fertilizer effect of Bio-com appeared much earlier than that of manure. 4. Plant content of $K_2O$ was highest when treated with Bio-com. Plants absorbed considerably more N, $P_2O_5$ and MgO. 5. Content of N, $P_2O_5$ in Garland Chrysanthemum were higher when treated with Bio-com. 6. Content of $P_2O_5$ in soil was at the highest level. Soil pH, content of exchangeable soil Ca and Mg were also high with Bio-com fertilization.
To obtain the fundamental information on the dissolution of nickel into the slag in the pyrometallurgical processes for treatment of wasted PCB, the distribution ratios of nickel between CaO-$SiO_2-Al_2O_3$-MgO slag and copper-5 wt%Ni alloy were measured at 1623 K to 1823 K under a controlled $CO_2$-CO atmosphere. The distribution ratio of Ni increased linearly with increasing oxygen partial pressure. Therefore, the dissolution reaction of nickel into the slags could be described by the following equation; $$Ni(l)_{metal}+\frac{1}{2}O_2(g)NiO(l)_{slag}$$ The distribution ratio of Ni increased linearly with increasing content of basic oxides(CaO and MgO) in slag. However, the distribution ratio of Ni decreased linearly with increasing temperature. From these results, the empirical equation of distribution ratio of Ni was obtained by the following equation from the analysis of experimental conditions by multiple regression. $${\log}L_{Ni}=0.4000{\log}P_{O2}-5.1{\times}10^{-4}T+0.3375\(\frac{X_{CaO}+X_{MgO}}{X_{SiO2}}\)$$

At the previous papers, we showed that ${K_2}O$-CaO-${P_2}{O_5}$ glasses had a solubility in air so that they could be used for glass fertilizer. In this work, we fabricated the Eco-glass fertilizer containing trace elements of B, Mg, Zn, Fe, Cu, Co, Mo, the needed micronutrients for plants to grow, by a melt-quenching process. The dissolution properties in these glasses were investigated with a pH meter and an ICP analyzer. The trace elements doped glasses showed similar behavior in dissolutions and stability properties with the mother glass without containing trace elements. In addition, the dissolution amount of each trace elements depends on the mother glass composition and the quantity of each trace elements, which determine the dissolving velocity of chemical elements.
This survey was conducted to investigate the chemical properties of soils cultivated medicinal plants. The soils were collected at 254 sites(Angelica gigas : 81, Astragalus membranceus : 38, Platycodn glandiflorum : 36, Paeonia albiflora : 34, Codonopsis lanoceolata : 32, Ligusticum chuanxiong : 17. Bupleurum falcatum : 16, respectively) throughout the country by 0-15cm depth. The chemical properties of soils were pH 5.6, O.M 3.0%. Av.$P_2O_5$ : 405 mg/kg, Ex.K : $0.67cmol^+/kg$, Ex.Ca : $6.3cmol^+/kg$, Ex.mg : $1.6cmol^+/kg$. The percentage distribution of pH on the basis of soil sample numbers were much more at the 5.1-6.0 range than any other ranges, especially those of below pH 6.0 were 83-91% for Angelica gigas, Platycodn glandiflorum and Codonopsis lanoceolata. The distribution of OM and Av.$P_2O_5$ in soils were much at the 2.1-4.0% and above 500mg/kg ranges, respectively. And the content of those in soils cultivated with Platycodn glandiflorum were lower than any other medicinal plants. The distribution of exchangeable cations in soils were much at the 0.2-0.8, 2.1-4.0 and $0.5-2.0cmol^+/kg$ of Ex.K. Ca and mg. respectively, and the contents were higher in soils cultivated Astragalus membranceus. and lower in soils cultivated Platycodn glandiflorum and Codonopsis lanoceolata than any other samples.

This study characterized fly ash produced from a sewage sludge incineration facility in Korea to determine if the byproducts can be utilized. All the incinerated sewage sludge was from a city in Korea. To characterize fly ash and to determine if it can be utilized, pH, water contents, elemental components, particle size, surface morphology, heavy metal compositions, and others were analyzed. In average, pH was 6.2, and water contents was about 5%. T-N and $T-P_2O_5$ were 3% and 24.5%, respectively. Particle size averaged 836 nm; surface morphology did not exhibit any significant results. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis results revealed that major components of the fly ash were $P_2O_5$, CaO, MgO, $K_2O$. Composition of heavy metals by the Korea Standard Methods for Waste Quality did not exceed the criteria for specified wastes in Korea.
The southern parts varieties have shown higher content of Oleic acid, Linoleic acid, Vitamin A, Alcaloid, Ca, P and Fe than northern parts Varieties. The $N.\;P_2O_5\;and\;K_2O content of narrow leaf were higher than wide leaf, on the other hand the Ca, Mg, Fe and $SiO_2$ content of wide leaf were higher than narrow leaf. The content of $N, \;P_2O_5, \;K_2O$ have shown higher in first yellow leaf date, the content of Ca has shown higher in first falling leaf date and the content of Mn and Cu content have shown higher in second new leaf date.

Changes in network structures of ${\alpha}-Nb_2O_5$ in the X MgO+(1-X) ${\alpha}-Nb_2O_5$ solid solutions occurring as the MgO doping level (X) was varied were investigated by means of infrared spectroscopy and X-ray analysis. X-ray diffraction revealed that all the synthesized specimens have the monoclinic structure. The FT-IR spectroscopy showed that the system investigated forms the solid solutions in which $Mg^{2+}$ ions occupy the octahedral sites in parent crystal lattice. Electrical conductivities were measured as a function of temperature from 600 to $1050{\circ}$ and $P_{O2}$ form $1{\times}10^{-5}$ to $2{\times}10^{-1}$ atm. The defect structure and conduction mechanism were deduced from the results. The $1}n$ value in ${\alpha}{\propto}{P_{O2}^{1}n}}$ is found to be -1/4 with single possible defect model. From the activation energy ($E{\alpha}$ = 1.67-1.73 eV) and the1/n value, electronic conduction mechanism is suggested with a doubly charged oxygen vacancy.
In this paper, We deposited the BST thin-film on p-type (100)Si, (100)MgO and MgO/Si substrates respectively using RF magnetron sputtering method. After the BST thin-fil m was deposited, we performed RTA(rapid thermal anneal) at $600^{\circ}C$, oxygen atmosphere and 1 min. In the XRD measurement, we observed the (110) $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$ main peak in all samples and the peak intensity increased after post annealing. Then we manufactured a capacitor using Al Electrode and measured I-V, C-V. In C-V measurement result values for each substrate, dielectric constant was calculated 120 (bare Si), 305(MgO/Si), 310(MgO) respectively. A leakage current density was present less than 1 $\mu\textrm{A/cm}^2$ at applied fields below 0.3 MV/cm. In conclusion we confirmed that MgO/Si substrates give good results for BST thin-film deposition.

This study was performed to estimate the water quality parameters on corrosion such as pH, turbidity, Fe released concentration, corrosion rate by using batch reactor for corrosion control of phosphate corrosion inhibitor in carbon steel pipes. The pH, conductivity, alkalinity, and Ca hardness showed a slight change for dosing the phosphate corrosion inhibitor with carbon steel pipe in batch reactor. The turbidity was about ten times lower with 5 mg $P_2O_5/L$ of the corrosion inhibitor than that without. The Fe released concentration and corrosion rate was decreased by about 12.2, 24 times with 5 mg $P_2O_5/L$ of the corrosion inhibitor than that without. In conclusion, the optimum concentration of the phosphate corrosion inhibitor was found to be 5 mg $P_2O_5/L$. The effect of the corrosion inhibitor was significant for the carbon steel plate samples tested in this study. The corrosion inhibitor can be an effective cure for corrosion and red water problem preventing the service pipe from further corrosion.
