Dielectric Properties in the Pb1-3x/2Lax[(Mg1/3Ta2/3)0.66Zr0.34]O3 Systems

  • The dielectric constant and loss of poling/non-poling was measured in the $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ samples. The addition of $La^{3+}$ to the $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ did not cause a large change in grain size. But the addition of $La^{3+}$ did show transition temperature, which shifted toward low temperature in the $Pb[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})Zr]O_3$ systems. In addition, the dielectric and pyroelectric properties (${\varepsilon}{\sim}20000$, $p{\sim}0.03C/m^2K$) of this system using $La^{3+}$ have been greatly improved. Pyroelectrics $Pb_{0.97}La_{0.02}(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ system was found to have a relatively high ferroelectric FOMs ($F_V{\sim}0.035m^2/C$, $F_D{\sim}0.52{\times}10^{-4}Pa^{-1/2}$) at room temperature. Spontaneous polarization showed a value of $0.27{\sim}0.35C/m^2$ in the composition added to $La^{3+}$. The piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}=350{\sim}490pC/N$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_P=0.25{\sim}0.35$) are obtained in $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ compositions with $La^{3+}$ dopant.

  • In order to reduce or avoid oxidation problem at operation the interconnects in SOFCs have so far mostly been made of ceramic material. It has high chemical stability both under cathode and anode condition, relatively thermal expansion coefficient that matchs that of electrolyte material YSZ. But this material shown rather weak in the low oxygen atmosphere and thermal shock, and it has lower mechanical strength than alloys. To avoid these problems one may consider to use metals or alloys as materials for interconnects. Metallic interconnects are advantageous because of their high thermal and electronic conductivities. But it has some problems, Those are high thermal expansion and oxidation at high temperature in air. To solve these problems in the interconnection material in this study, $LaCrO_3$-dispersed Cr alloys for metallic interconnector of SOFC have been investigated as a fuction of $LaCrO_3$ content in the range of 5 to 25 vol.%. The Cr alloy were prepared by mixing Cr and $LaCrO_3$ powders in high-energy ball mill for 48h and by sintering under Ar atmosphere with 5vol.% $H_2$ for 10h at $1500^{\circ}C$. The alloys had a relative density of 95% and above. The Cr alloys in composed of two kind of small $LaCrO_3$ and large Cr particles. As the $LaCrO_3$ content increased, the Cr particle size decreased but the $LaCrO_3$ particle size remained contant. Also the oxidation tests show that the $LaCrO_3$-dispersed Cr is very resistant to oxidation in air. These results means that $LaCrO_3$-dispersed Cr is a useful material for metallic interconnect of planar SOFC.

NaLa(SO4)2·H2O 결정상으로부터 이온치환반응에 의한 산화란탄 (La2O3) 분말 합성에 관한 연구 (A study on the synthesis of lanthanum oxide (La2O3) from NaLa(SO4)2·H2O by metathesis reaction)

  • 폐니켈수소전지에 함유된 희토류들의 회수는 자원 재활용을 위한 중요한 이슈 중의 하나이다. 본 논문에서는 폐니켈수소전지에 함유된 주요 희토류 성분 중의 하나인 란탄의 회수와 산화물로 전환되는 메커니즘 연구를 위하여, 재활용 공정에서 확보되는 희토류 침전물($NaRE(SO_4)_2{\cdot}H_2O$, RE = La, Nd, Ce)과 같은 단일 조성의 $NaLa(SO_4)_2{\cdot}H_2O$ 분말을 합성하였다. 합성된 분말은 $70^{\circ}C$에서 진행된 탄산나트륨과의 이온치환반응을 통해 판상형의 $La_2(CO_3)_3{\cdot}xH_2O$ 결정상을 나타냈으며, 비교를 위해 상온에서 진행된 치환 반응을 진행하였다. 이후 산화란탄 합성을 위해 TG 분석 결과를 바탕으로, $La_2(CO_3)_3{\cdot}xH_2O$ 분말을 $300^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$$1000^{\circ}C$에서 후열처리를 진행하였으며, 이에 따른 결정구조의 변화를 분석하였다. FESEM 결과 본 연구에서 합성된 각각의 분말들은 각기둥($NaLa(SO_4)_2{\cdot}H_2O$), 판상($La_2(CO_3)_3{\cdot}xH_2O$) 및 특정 형상 없이 불규칙적으로 응집된 형태($La_2O_3$)를 나타내었다.

다성분계 Glass Fiber의 La$_2$O$_3$첨가에 따른 광학적 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on Optical Properties by Adding La$_2$O$_3$ in Multicomponent Glass Fiber)

  • By adding La$_2$O$_3$ to optical multicomponent glass composition, after making mother glass and core fiber that enable to enlarge the infrared transmittance region, then surveyed the optical properties. Through thermal analysis of the glass abstained by melt-quenching after selecting stable basic composition on devitrification and replace SiO$_2$ by 4-12wt% La$_2$O$_3$. As La$_2$O$_3$ increases up to l2wt% transition temperature, refractive index, density, deformation temperature increased, whereas thermal expansion coefficient decreased. As a result of inspectig transmittance in UV/VIS/IR region, visable region indicated the decrease of transmittance by increasing the La$_2$O$_3$ and transmittance region was enlarged by increasing the La$_2$O$_3$ in IR region. Also, fabricate core fiber at 820$^{\circ}C$ and severy the optical loss we could fact that La$_2$O$_3$ composition added 12wt% showed the minimum optical loss.

  • The aging of permittivity of a barium titanate dielectrics doped with La$_{2}$O$_{3}$ under zero and low DC field has been studied. The aging rate was decreased as the amount of La$_{2}$O$_{3}$ addition is increased to 3 mole%. The zero field aging rate of barium titahate doped with La$_{2}$O$_{3}$. 3TiO$_{2}$ was similar to that doped with La$_{2}$O$_{3}$.5V/mil DC field aging rate of La$_{2}$O$_{3}$.3TiO$_{2}$ doped sample, howeve, was lowered to that of La$_{2}$O$_{3}$ doped sample. When the phase transformation is occured from the paraelectric state to the ferroelectric state, 90.deg. domains are mucleated in order that the system becomes thermodynamically more stable. It is concluded that the aging phenomenon is occured as the dielectric constant is decreasing by the nucleation and growth of 90.deg. domains.

  • 펄스 레이저 증착법을 이용하여 강유전체 Bi4T13012 박막을 laA109(001) 위에 성장시켰다. 넓은 영역의 온도에서 증착한 박막의 상 형성과 구조적 성질을 X선 회절법을 이용하여 조사하였다. 740℃에서 증착한 박막은 박막의 c-축이 기판에 수직한 형태의 에피 성장의 경향을 보인다. 펄스 레이저 증착법을 이용하여 Bi4Ti3O12/YBa2Cu3O7-x/LaAlO3 복합구조를 in-situ 성장시켰다. Yba2Cu3O7-x의 a-, b-축이 LaAlO3와 완벽하게 평행하게 배열되어 있지 않음에도 불구하고, Bi4Ti3012 박막은 에피 성장의 경향을 보인다.

Sr과 Mg 첨가량 및 소결조건에 따른 LSGM계 전해질의 특성 변화 (Variations in the Properties of LSGM System Electrolyte with Sr and Mg Addition and Sintering Conditions)

  • 고체산화물 연료전지의 전해질로서 $LaGaO_3$계를 선정하여 La 대신 Sr을, Ga 대신에 Mg를 치환하여 첨가할 때 첨가량 및 소결 조건에 따라 전해질을 제조하고, 그 특성을 조사하였다. Sr과 Mg가 0.15와 0.20 mole 첨가되었을 때 Sr과 Mg가 La와Ga 자리에 동시 고용되어 (La$_{1-x}Sr_x)(Ga_{1-y}Mg_y)O_{3-\delta}$ 단일상이 나타났고, 일부 조성에서는 $LaSrGa_3O_7$ 상과 $LaSrGaO_4$ 상이 2차상으로 나타났다. $LaSrGa_3O_7$ 상은 Sr과 Mg 첨가에 의한 상이며, $LaSrGaO_4$ 상은 액상형성에 의한 것으로 나타났으며, 또한 $LaSrGaO_4$ 상은 소결온도와 Mg 첨가량이 감소함에 따라 얻어졌다. $(La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2})(Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})O_{3-\delta}$ 상의 경우 소결온도를 증가함에 따라 열팽창계수는 감소하였으며, $1500^{circ}C$에서 1시간 소결한 소결체의 전기전도도는 $800^{circ}C$, 1mA에서 0.14S/cm를 나타내었다.

치환된 $LaFeO_3$의 환원반응성에 대한 연구 (Study on the reducibility of substituted $LaFeO_3$)

  • $LaFeO_3$ 복합산화물과 부분 치환한 $LaFeO_3$ 복합산화물을 citrate와 Cyanide 공침법으로 합성하여 공기중에서 $850^{\circ}C$로 24시간동안 열처리해 제조방법에 의한 영향을 비교하였다. XRD와 IR의 결과에 의하여면, 합성된 산화물은 Orthorhombic의 Perovskite구조를 나타냈으나 B자리에 0.5mol의 Cu가 치환된 복합산화물은 단일상을 얻지 못하였다. 또한, 이들 산화물의 환원반응은 치환하지 않은 $LaFeO_3.17$ 복합산홤루은 2단계 반응인 반면에 치환한 복합산화물은 3단계 반응으로 Dopant에 의한 새로운 환원단계가 존재함을 알았다.

Minimizing the Water Leaching of Zincborate Glass by La2O3 Addition for LTCC Applications

  • A series of $La_2O_3$-added zincborosilicate glasses was fabricated by systematically varying $La_2O_3$ addition up to 15mol% under the constraint of a ZnO:$B_2O_3$ ratio of 1:2. The degree of water leaching after ball milling of the prepared glasses in water medium was relatively quantified by the change in zinc peak intensity in energy dispersive spectroscopy. 8mol% of $La_2O_3$ was the most efficient addition in inhibiting the glass leaching by water. The role of $La_2O_3$ in inhibiting the leaching was explained in terms of change of structural units in the glass network. When the optimum 8mol% $La_2O_3$-added ZnO-$B_2O_3$ glass was used as sintering aid for $Al_2O_3$, the fabricated alumina-glass composite at $875^{\circ}C$ demonstrated dielectric constant of 6.11 and quality factor of 15470 GHz, indicating the potential of leaching-minimized $La_2O_3-ZnO-B_2O_3$ glass for application to low temperature co-firing ceramic technology.

  • The perovskites in the $LaAlO_3-BaZrO_3$ system (i.e., $(1-x)LaAlO_3-xBaZrO_3$ were fabricated by a solid state reaction and their dielectric properties were investigated. For the compositions of x=0.1~0.9, the mixture of $LaAlO_3$ with a rhombohedral structure and $BaZrO_3$ with a cubic was observed when the sintering was conducted at $1500^{\circ}C$, indicating that the solubility of constituent elements was very low and a narrow solid solution region might exist. The large difference of ionic radii between $La^{3+}$ ion (0.136nm, C.N.=12) and $Ba^{2+}$ ion (0.161nm) or $Al^{3+}$ ion (0.0535nm, C.N.=6) and $Zr^{4+}$ ion (0.072nm) might hinder the mutual substitution. Within the compositions of x=0~0.7, the dielectric constant of the mixture increased with the amount of $BaZrO_3$, i.e., x value, which was in good agreement with the logarithmic mixing rule (In $_{r,i}={\Sigma}v_iln\;_{r,i}$). The increase in $BaZrO_3$ doping decreased $Q{\times}f$ value significantly due to the low $Q{\times}f$ value of $BaZrO_3$ itself, a poor microstructure of the mixture with an increased grain boundary area per volume, and defects in the cation and oxygen sub-lattices which were respectively caused by the evaporation of barium during the sintering process and the substitution of Ba on La-site or Al on Zr-site.
