$La_2O_3-ZnO-B_2O_3$계 유리 첨가 알루미나 복합체의 유전특성 (Microwave dielectric properties of $La_2O_3-ZnO-B_2O_3$ glass-added alumina)

  • Influence of $La_2O_3$ addition to $ZnO-B_2O_3$-based glass on the water leaching resistance of the glass was first investigated. The optimized $La_2O_3-ZnO-B_2O_3$ (LZB) glass was ball milled for varying time, followed by mixing with $Al_2O_3$ crystalline phase to form $Al_2O_3$-LZB glass composites at $875^{\circ}C$ for lh. Microwave dielectric properties of the composites were investigated as a function of the ball milling time of the LZB glass. Dielectric constant and quality factor of the composites were 6.01 and 11676 GHz, respectively, when the LZB glass was ball milled for 2h prior to mixing with $Al_2O_3$.

치어리딩의 푸에떼 아라스공드 (Fouette A La Second) 동작의 운동학적 분석 (The Kinematic Analysis of Fouette A La Second in Cheerleading)

  • The purpose of this study was to research on the movement of Fouette A La Second which was a type of turning movements on cheerleading. This research was conducted for helping cheerleaders to improve their overall skills. The three cheerleading national team members were participated in this research and the movements of Fouette A La Second were recorded with 6 digital motion master 60 video cameras, operating at a sampling frequency of 60 fields/sec. Six out of ten turning motion data were collected and analyzed with Kwon3D XP. The results were as follow: 1) The subject A's Releve motion was not executed precisely because of the COG's unstability. So she was required to improve the balancing ability. 2) The subject B could not execute the precise A La Second motion because of subject B's large hip angle. By tracing the projection of B's right toe on x-y plane, the subject made an elliptical orbit. Because B did not have a proper turning skills she needed to improve the muscle power and flexibility. She also needed to move quickly from Releve to Plie movement. 3) The subject C could not execute the Plie movement precisely, so she could not turn her body correctly around a certain spot. The subject C needed to decrease the knee angle at the Plie motion.

합성 페롭스카이트형($K_2La_2Ti_nO_{2n+4}$)광물의 결정학 및 층상구조에 관한 연구 (Crystallography and Layered Structure of Synthetic Perovskite-type ($K_2La_2Ti_nO_{2n+4}$) Minerals)

  • 티타늄과 산소의 함량이 서로 다른 4가지의 합성 페롭스카이트형(perovskite-type) 광물(($K_2$$La_2$$Ti_{n}$/$O_{2n+4}$, n=3, 4, 5, 6; 14/mcm, 14/mmm, I42 m)을 대상으로 리트벨트(Rietveld)구조분석법을 실시하여 결정구조를 밝히고 티타늄함량에 따른 층상형 구조를 연구하였다. 4가지 합성시료에 대하여 구조분석을 실시한결과 대표적인 페롭스카이트형 광물인 토소나이트(taustonite, $La_{1-x}$ //$K_{x}$ /$TiO_3$, x<0.4)가 주성분으로 나타났으며 토스나이트내에 12개의 산소를 배위하는 A자리 양이온은 자리점유율에 의해 $La^{3+}$$K^{+}$ /의 치환관계를 보여준다 공간군은 14/mcm, 단위포는 a=5.505(1)~5.510(1)$\AA$, c=7.793(1)~7.796(1)$\AA$ V=236.25~236.66 $\AA^3$ 범위의 값을 갖는다. 구조의 정밀도를 나타내는 R지수를 살펴보면 $R_{B}$ 값은 5.31~9.10 S(GofF)값은 0.86~1.24로 각각 계산되었다. 12배위를 하는 A자리 양이온인 란탄과 산소의 평균거리는 2.755$\AA$이고 6배위를 하는 B자리 양이온인 티타늄과 산소의 평균거리는 1.948 $\AA$의 결과를 얻었다. 합성된페롭스카이트형 광물의 층상구조가 알려져 있지 않아 시뮬레이션을 통해 구조모델을 결정하였으며 그결과 n=3인 R-38시료에서만 두 종류의 층상 페롭스카이트($La_2$$K_2$$Ti_3$$O_{10}$ ) 구조 (A-type: 14/mmm, a=3.8178 $\AA$, c=29.9189 $\AA$, V=436.04 $\AA^3$, B-type: 142 m, a =3.8376 $\AA$, c=28.023 $\AA$, V=412.6 $\AA^3$)가 존재함을 확인하였으나 다른 시료에서는 토소나이트, 금홍석 외에 새로운 합성광물로 제파이트의 존재를 확인하였다.

  • Bao를 첨가한 perovskite 구조 LaSc $O_3$의 생성상과 proton 전도에 대해 연구하였다. La자리에 $Ba^{2+}$를 40 at% 첨가한 조성에서는 입방정 단일상이 생성된 반면, $Ba^{2+}$를 30 at% 이하로 첨가한 조성은 입방정과 사방정이 생성되었다. $N_2$분위기에서 $650^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도에서는 주로 산소이온에 의한 전도를 나타내었고, 그 이하의 온도에서는 wet 분위기에서 proton 전도가 관찰되었다. 모든 조성의 물질은 30$0^{\circ}C$ 이하에서는 순수한 proton 전도체의 거동을 보였으며, proton에 의한 bulk(grain)의 전도도는 L $a_{0.6}$B $a_{0.4}$Sc $O_{2.8}$의 경우에 가장 높았다.높았다.다.

Evidence of spin-phonon coupling in La2NiMnO6 double perovskite

  • Herein, a correlation between B-site cation order and spin-phonon coupling in La2NiMnO6 double perovskite has been investigated. Raman spectra of La2NiMnO6 double perovskite annealed at 950 and 1400℃ have been measured in the 140-598 K range. A substantial softening of the phonon modes has been observed below the Curie temperature, which emphasized the presence of the spin-phonon coupling in the system. The spin-phonon coupling was found to be stronger in relatively more ordered La2NiMnO6 double perovskite. Thus, the magnitude of spin-phonon coupling was influenced by the Ni/Mn cation order.

Epidemiological survey of Giardia spp. and Blastocystis hominis in an Argentinian rural community

  • The aim of this study was to relate personal data, socio-cultural and environmental characteristics, and the presence of symptoms/signs with the frequencies of Giardia spp. and Blastocystis hominis among a rural population in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Of the surveyed population (350), 3.7% were infected with only Giardia spp. or 22.9% with B. hominis, and 2.3% were infected with both protozoa. The frequency of infection according to sex; 6.1% of males were infected and 1.6% of females by Giardia spp., 26.7% and 19.5% by B. hominis, and 2.4% and 2.2% by both parasites, respectively. Giardia spp. was detected in only three adults (over 14 years), but B. hominis was more frequent in adults than in children. The prevalences of these protozoa in this community are lower than those reported by other Argentinean studies, which is probably associated with the low density of the studied population ($5.95{\;}inhab/\textrm{km}^2$). Statistical analysis revealed that a male sex, flooding of the home, the use of a latrine, and an abdominal pain were correlated with the presence of these parasites, which indicate the importance of these factors in rural communities.

Effects of probiotic supplement (Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus acidophilus) on feed efficiency, growth performance, and microbial population of weaning rabbits

  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of single or/and double strains of probiotic supplement on feed efficiency, growth performance, and microbial population in distal gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of weaning rabbits. Methods: Sixty-four weaning (28 days old) New Zealand White rabbits were randomly distributed into four groups with treatments including: basal diet without probiotic supplement (control) or supplemented as follows: $1{\times}10^6cfu/g$ B. subtilis (BS group), $1{\times}10^7cfu/g$ L. acidophilus (LA group), or $0.5{\times}10^6cfu/g$ B. subtilis plus $0.5{\times}10^7cfu/g$ L. acidophilus (BL group). During the research, the male and female rabbits were fed separately. Body weight of the rabbits was recorded at 28, 42, and 70 d of age. Results: There was an increase (p<0.05) in body weight gain for the LA group at 42 d. Rabbits fed BL responsed with a greater growth (p<0.05) and better feed conversion ratio (p<0.05) than those fed with no probiotic. Digestibility coefficients of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, and gross energy were higher (p<0.05) in LA and BL groups than those in the control group. Male rabbits had higher (p<0.05) Bacilli spp. and Coliformis spp. in the ileum than female rabbits. Rabbits supplemented with BS had greater (p<0.05) numbers of bacilli in all intestinal segments than those receiving no probiotic, whereas intestinal Lactobacilli populations were greater (p<0.001) in the LA and BL diets compared to control. Average intestinal coliform populations were lowest (p<0.05) in the rabbits supplemented with LA as compared to those fed the control and BS. Conclusion: Supplementation of L. acidophilus alone or in combination with B. subtilis at a half of dose could enhance number of gut beneficial bacteria populations, nutrient digestibility, cecal fermentation, feed efficiency, and growth performance, but rabbits receiving only B. subtilis alone were not different from the controls without probiotic.

열차폐코팅용 (La1-xGdx)2Zr2O7 산화물의 상형성과 열전도도 (Phase Evolution and Thermal Conductivities of (La1-xGdx)2Zr2O7 Oxides for Thermal Barrier Coatings)

  • With increase in operating temperature of gas turbine for higher efficiency, it is necessary to find new materials of TBC for replacement of YSZ. Among candidate materials for future TBCs, zirconate-based oxides with pyrochlore and fluorite are prevailing ones. In this study, phase structure and thermal conductivities of $(La_{1-x}Gd_x)_2Zr_2O_7$ oxide system are investigated. $(La_{1-x}Gd_x)_2Zr_2O_7$ system are comprised by selecting $La^{3+}/Gd^{3+}$ as A-site ions and $Zr^{4+}$ as B-site ion in $A_2B_2O_7$ pyrochlore structures. With powder mixture from each oxide, $(La_{1-x}Gd_x)_2Zr_2O_7$ oxides are fabricated via solid-state reaction at $1600^{\circ}C$. Either pyrochlore or fluorite or mixture of both appears after heat treatment. For the developed phases along $(La_{1-x}Gd_x)_2Zr_2O_7$ compositions, thermal conductivities are examined, with which the potential of $(La_{1-x}Gd_x)_2Zr_2O_7$ compositions for TBC application is also discussed.

An alpha-lipoic acid-decursinol hybrid compound attenuates lipopolysaccharide-mediated inflammation in BV2 and RAW264.7 cells

  • In this study, the anti-inflammatory effects of ${\alpha}-lipoic$ acid (LA) and decursinol (Dec) hybrid compound LA-Dec were evaluated and compared with its prodrugs, LA and Dec. LA-Dec dose-dependently inhibited lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced nitric oxide (NO) generation in BV2 mouse microglial cells. On the other hand, no or mild inhibitory effect was shown by the Dec and LA, respectively. LA-Dec demonstrated dose-dependent protection from activation-induced cell death in BV2 cells. LA-Dec, but not LA or Dec individually, inhibited LPS-induced increased expressions of induced NO synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) proteins in a dose-dependent manner in both BV2 and mouse macrophage, RAW264.7 cells. Furthermore, LA-Dec inhibited LPS-induced expressions of iNOS, COX-2, interleukin-6, tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$, and $interleukin-1{\beta}$ mRNA in BV2 cells, whereas the same concentration of LA or Dec was ineffective. Signaling studies demonstrated that LA-Dec inhibited LPS-activated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 and protein kinase B activation, but not nuclear factor-kappa B or mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling. The data implicate LA-Dec hybrid compound as a potential therapeutic agent for inflammatory diseases of the peripheral and central nervous systems.

빙정식 융제로 성장한 Corundum 단결정의 결정형 (Crystal Habits of Corundum Single Crystals Grown in Cryolite Flux)

  • Corundum single crystals were grown in cryolite flux with the composition of Na3AlF6:Al2O3=80:20 wt%. This mixture was melted at 115$0^{\circ}C$, followed by slow cooling at a rate of 2$^{\circ}C$/hr to 96$0^{\circ}C$. And by adding of La2O3 to the flux, the change of crystal forms were observed. Crystal forms of corundum grown in cryolite flux had the habits of hexagonal plate which consist of well developed {0001} face and small {101} face. As La2O3 was added and its content was increased, {223} and {110} faces were developed, and crystal habits of equidimensional forms changed into hexagonal prism form. In a charge of 8 mole% B2O3, Al2O3:La2O3=15:1, transparent corundum single crystals of equent form were grown. As the content of B2O3 was increased, twineed crystals which have twin law of 2-fold parallel to [0001], and composition plane of (110) were grown.
