A Quantitative Analysis of Nonlinearity Changes of 24 hour Heart Rate Variability of TOF Children Group and Normal Children Group (TOF 소아 집단과 정상 소아 집단의 24 시간 심박동수 변동량의 비선형성 변화에 대한 정량적 분석)

  • It has been reported that sudden cardiac death and ventricular tachycardia occur after treatment of tetralogy of fallot(TOF). It is regarded that ventricular arrythmia is the main source or the sudden cardiac death, but it is not verified. It is likely that TOF has effect on the heart rate variability because of the ventricular arrythmia. We study how complex and periodic heart rate dynamics change in the normal children (n=13) and TOF children (n=13) throughout 24 hours. We recorded 24-hour holter ECG, and segmented each ECG data into 1 hour length. We analyze each HR time series, and quantify the overall complexity of each HR time series by its correlation dimension. We also calculate the power spectrum of HR, and obtain low-frequency component (0.03-0.15Hz) and high-frequency component (0.15-0.4Hz). We compare the results between normal and TOF groups throughout 24 hours. TOF group have lower correlation dimension ($4.055{\pm}0.4134$ vs. $4.9310{\pm}0.2054$, p<0.05) than the normal group, even though there are no significant differences in the low($0.9864{\pm}0.5598$ vs. $1.5560{\pm}0.8325$, p<0.05) and high($1.1168{\pm}0.1.1448$ vs. $0.9271{\pm}0.6528$, p<0.05) frequency components. It can be concluded that HR time series of TOF group are more regular than that of normal group, and that correlation dimension reveals a nonlinear characteristics of HR time series which is not determined in the frequency domain.

A Study on the Body Type of Hanwoo(Korean Cattle) Steer by Using Principal Components Analysis (주성분 분석을 이용한 거세한우의 체형분류에 관한 연구)

  • Data were consisted of the ten body measurements (withers height, rump height, body length, chest depth, chest width, rump width, rump length, thurls width, hipbone width and chest girth) of 642 steers (Korean cattle), which was entered in the National Beef Quality Contest hosted by the Korea Animal Improvement Association from 1997 to 2001. A principal components analysis was used to classify the body types of the steers, and estimate the correlations between carcass traits and principal components for the body measurements of the first, second, third and fourth period, respectively. The first principal component of body measurements at the first, second, third and fourth period accounted for 76.0%, 83.0%, 72.7% and 57.4% of the total variance, respectively. The sum of first, second and third principal component at each period accounted for 86.69%, 90.49%, 84.62% and 77.26% of the total variance, respectively. At each period, all the first principal component of the body measurements were positive and it generally showed large framed body shape. The size of body was influenced mostly by chest depth(0.328${\sim}$0.339) and rump length(0.325${\sim}$0.341). The second, third and fourth principal component at the each period were various. There were positive correlations between principal components index of each period and carcass traits such as carcass weight(0.539${\sim}$0.755), average daily gain(0.256${\sim}$0.564), backfat thickness(0.227${\sim}$0.280), and eye muscle area(0.187${\sim}$0.344). The correlation with yield grade index(-0.246${\sim}$-0.110), however, was negative. The correlation with marbling score(0.066${\sim}$0.099) was low or statistically insignificant. According to principal component indexes of the second, third, and fourth components, the correlations with the carcass traits were various. There were no large differences between the correlations of the single body measurement trait with the carcass traits and the correlations of the first principal component indexes with the carcass traits.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Soybean Pastes Containing Sword Bean (작두콩 첨가 된장의 이화학적 특성)

  • This study was carried out to analyse the physicochemical characteristics of soybean pastes with the sword beans and general soybean pastes. There was no difference in contents of general component (moisture contents, crude ash, crude fiber, crude fat) among the soybean pastes, but contents of crude protein was higher in J1, J2 compared to the others. Amylase activity was higher in J3, J4 adding the rice, and protease activity was higher in J1, J2 that has higher soybean contents than the others. Reducing sugar contents was higher in J3, J4 that has high amlyase activity with value of 8.53${\pm}$0.45% and 8.36${\pm}$1.05%, and amino-type nitrogen contents was higher in commercial soybean paste K5, K6 than other soybean pastes with value of 668.34${\pm}$4.11 mg% and 642.64${\pm}$2.05 mg% respectively.

Conformational changes of short, discrete Rouse chain during creep and recovery processes

  • For the Rouse chain composed of infinite number of beads (continuous limit), conformational changes during the creep and creep recovery processes was recently analyzed to reveal the interplay among all Rouse eigenmodes under the constant stress condition (Watanabe and Inoue, Rheol. Acta, 2004). For completeness of the analysis of the Rouse model, this paper analyzes the conformational changes of the discrete Rouse chain having a finite number of beads (N = 3 and 4). The analysis demonstrates that the chain of finite N exhibits the affine deformation on imposition/removal of the stress and this deformation gives the instantaneous component of the recoverable compliance, $J_{R}$(0) = 1/(N-l)v $k_{B}$T with v and $k_{B}$ being the chain number density and Boltzmann constant, respectively. (This component vanishes for N\longrightarrow$\infty$.) For N = 2, it is known that the chain has only one internal eigenmode so that the affinely deformed conformation at the onset of the creep process does not change with time t and $J_{R}$(t) coincides with $J_{R}$(0) at any t (no transient increase of $J_{R}$(t)). However, for N$\geq$3, the chain has N-l eigenmodes (N-l$\geq$2), and this coincidence vanishes. For this case, the chain conformation changes with t to the non-affine conformation under steady flow, and this change is governed by the interplay of the Rouse eigenmodes (under the constant stress condition). This conformational change gives the non-instantaneous increase of $J_{R}$(t) with t, as also noted in the continuous limit (N\longrightarrow$\infty$).X>).TEX>).X>).

Real Time Monitoring of Ionic Species Generated from Laser-Ablated Pb$(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ Target Using Pulsed-Field Time-Of-Flight Mass spectrometer

  • The characteristics of the ablation plume generated by 532 nm Nd: YAG laser irradiation of a Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (PZT) target have been investigated using a pulsed-field time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOFMS). The relative abundance of O+, Ti+, Zr+, Pb+, TiO+, and ZrO+ ions has been measured and discussed. TiO+ and ZrO+ ions were also found to be particularly stable within the laser ablation plasma with respect to PbO+ species. The behavior of the temporal distributions of each ionic species was studied as a function of the delay time between the laser shot and the ion extraction pulse. The most probable velocity of each ablated ion is estimated to be Vmp=1.1-1.6x 105 cm/s at a laser fluence of 1.2 J/cm2, which is typically employed for the thin film deposition of PZT. The TOF distribution of Ti+ and Zr+ ions shows a trimodal distribution with one fast and two slow velocity components. The fast velocity component (6.8x 10' cm/s) appears to consist of directly ablated species via nonthermal process. The second component, originated from the thermal evaporation process, has a characteristic velocity of 1.4-1.6 x 105 cm/s. The slowest component (1.2 x 105 cm/s) is composed of a dissociation product formed from the corresponding oxide ion.

  • Turbulence is one of the natural phenomena in molecular clouds. It affects gas density and velocity fluctuation within the molecular clouds and controls the mode and tempo of star formation. However, despite many years of study, the properties of turbulence remain poorly understood. As part of the Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory (TRAO) Key Science Program (KSP), "mapping Turbulent properties In star-forming MolEcular clouds down to the Sonic scale (TIMES; PI: Jeong-Eun Lee)", we have fully mapped two star-forming molecular clouds, the Orion A and the Ophiuchus molecular clouds, in 3 sets of lines ($^{13}CO$ J=1-0, $C^{18}O$ J=1-0, HCN J=1-0, $HCO^+$ J=1-0, CS J=2-1, and $N_2H^+$ J=1-0) using the TRAO 14-m telescope. We apply a statistical analysis, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), which can recover an underlying turbulent-power spectrum from an observed P-P-V spectral map. We compare turbulence properties not only between the two clouds, but also between different parts within each cloud. We present the first result of our observation program.

Investigation on the Turbulent Flow-Field of a Small-size Axial Fan with Different Operating Points (운전점이 다른 소형 축류홴의 난류 유동장 고찰)

  • The turbulent flow characteristics around a small-size axial fan(SSAF) for a refrigerator are strongly dependent upon the operating points. Four operating points such as $\phi$ =0.1, 0.18, 0.25 and 0.32 were adopted in this study to investigate three-dimensional turbulent flow characteristics around the SSAF by using a fiber-optic type Laser Doppler Anemometer(LDA) system. Downstream mean velocity profiles of the SSAF along the radial distance show that axial and tangential velocity components exist predominantly, except $\phi$ = 0.1, and have a maximum value at $r/R{\fallingdotseq}0.8$, but radial velocity component having a relatively small value only turns flow direction to the outside or the central part of the SSAF. The turbulent intensity shows that the radial component exists most greatly after $r/R{\fallingdotseq}0.5$. Downstream turbulent kinetic energy at $\phi$ = 0.25 and 0.32 together has the largest peak value at $r/R{\fallingdotseq}0.9$.

  • The flange hub is a main component in an automotive steering system. In general, the flange hub are fabricated by mechanical machining, which is a process where material waste is inevitable. It is well-known that a net-shape cold forging cannot only reduce material waste but can also improve the mechanical strength of the final product. Thus, a forging process design was conducted for production of a flange hub. Significant spring-back occurs around the flange due to its small thickness in conjunction with the residual stresses after forging. In order to achieve the required dimensional accuracy, a process design with appropriate spring-back control is needed. In this study, a modification of the forging die was designed based on FE analysis with the purpose of spring-back compensation. Four kinds of different die designs were evaluated and the optimum design has two times less spring-back than the initial design. The compensation angle of the optimum design is 0.5 degrees. The results have been experimentally confirmed by cold forging of a flange hub and comparing the amount of spring-back between the actual component and the FE analysis.

A Study on the Power Spectral Analysis of Heart Rate Variability (HRV의 전력스펙트럼 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we compare three mehods to obtain PSD of HRV - FFT, AR modeling, and residual integration. Using these methods we speculate the balances of the LP and HF powers of HRV at $0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$ tilt levels of head-up tilt table for young and healthy 24 men. R peaks are located at the highest point of QRS complex detected from modified spacial velocity algorithm. In general FFT is the most fast way to obtain PSD but PSD from FFT has too many peaks and valleies. AR PSD can show frequency of ANS activity effectively but LF component of PSD is often invisible due to interference of VLF power. The residual integration method that decomposes the AR PSD is very efficient way to extract LF component. Applying the above three methods to HRV we can visualize the trend of PSD variations along tilt levels.

Exploring the Extra Component in the Gamma-ray Emission of the New Redback Candidate 3FGL J2039.6-5618

  • A redback system is a binary system composed of a pulsar and a main sequence star. The inverse Compton (IC) scattering between the stellar soft photons and the relativistic pulsar wind will generate orbital-modulating GeV photons. We look for these IC emissions from redback systems. A multi-wavelength observation of an unassociated gamma-ray source, 3FGL J2039.6-5618, by Salvetti et al. (2015) detected an orbital modulation with a period of 0.2 days in both X-ray and optical cases. They suggested 3FGL J2039.6-5618 to be a new redback candidate. We analyzed the gamma-ray emission of 3FGL J2039.6-5618 using the data from the Fermi large area telescope (Fermi-LAT) and obtained the spectrum in different orbital phases. We propose that the spectrum has orbital dependency and estimate the characteristic energy of the IC emission from the stellar-pulsar wind interaction.
