해조류, Sargassum sagamianum을 이용한 Pb 흡착 및 탈착 (Biosorption and Desorption of Pb by Using Sargassum sagamianum)

  • 우리나라 인근 해역에서 가장 쉽게 채취할 수 있는 해조류 중의 하나인 S. sagamianum을 이용한 Pb의 생체흡착 실험을 수행하였다. Pb는 1시간 내에 흡착 평형에 도달하였으며, Pb의 평형흡착량은 각각 224.5 mg Pb/g biomass 였다. Pb 흡착시에 경금속인 Ca 및 Mg가 500 mg/L 이하로 존재할 때 Ca는 약간 흡착되었으나 Mg는 전혀 흡착되지 않아 Pb만을 선택적으로 제거하는 것이 가능하였다. Pb 흡착 후에 0.1M HCl, 0.1M HNO$_3$,0.1M EDTA 및 0.1 M NaOH를 이용하여 탈착 실험을 수행하고 다시 재흡착을 시키는 과정을 6회 반복한 결과, 탈착율은 EDTA가 100%로 가장 높았으나, S. sagamianum의 재생성을 고려해 볼 때 HNO$_3$및 HCl가 효과적인 탈착 용액인 것으로 사료되었다. 특히 HNO$_3$를 이용하였을 때 Pb의 누적흡착량이 736.8 mg/g biomass로서 가장 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로 부터 S. sagamianum 은 매우 우수한 생체흡착제로 연속공정에 사용이 가능할 것으로 사료되었다.

Effect of Chemically Treated / Untreated Carbon Cloth: Potential Use as Electrode Materials in the Capacitive Deionization Process of Desalination of Aqueous Salt Solution

  • Capacitive deionization (CDI) process is a novel approach for desalination of an aqueous salt solution. In the present study, an activated carbon cloth (ACC) is proposed as effective electrode material. Initially the carbon cloth was activated in 1 M and 8 M HNO3 for 9 hours at room temperature. The untreated and chemically activated carbon cloth (ACC) electrode materials were subjected to BET surface area measurements in order to get information about their specific surface area, average pore size, total pore volume and micropore area. The above materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) also. The electrochemical studies for the electrodes were done using cyclic voltammetry (CV) in 0.1 M Na2SO4 medium. From the studies, it was found that resistivity of the activated carbon cloth electrodes (treated in 1 M and 8 M HNO3) was decreased significantly by the chemical oxidation in nitric acid at room temperature and its capacitance was found to be 90 F/g (1 M HNO3) and 154 F/g (8 M HNO3) respectively in 0.1 M Na2SO4 solution. The capacitive deionization behavior of a single cell CDI with activated carbon cloth electrodes was also studied and reported in this work.

Effect of Pre-treatments on the Content of Heavy Metals in Packaging Paper

  • Pre-treatment methods to determine various heavy metal contents in packaging papers were investigated by ICP-ES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission Spectrometry) analysis. Pre-treatment methods utilized in this study include dry ashing and decomposition methods ($HNO_{3-}HClO_{4-}HF,\;HNO_{3},\;and\;H_{2}SO_{4-}HNO_{3}$). They were compared with the conventional extraction (water) and migration (3% acetic acid) methods. The five representative heavy metals (Cd, As, Pb, Cr and Hg) were analyzed. For Cd, Hg, and As, the results were below detection limit of the instrument. In case of Cr and Pb, the migration test is considered to be a better method compared to the extraction test, but all pretreated methods showed much higher detection efficiency than the extraction or migration test. However, the detection ratio between the migration test and decomposition methods was different. Among all decomposition methods, the nitric acid - perchloric acid - hydrofluoric acid treatment brought a slightly higher detection value than others, but there was no significant difference among them except sulfuric acid - nitric acid method. Concerning Pb, the sulfuric acid - nitric acid method showed a low detection efficiency compared to other decomposition methods. The sulfuric acid - nitric acid method is, thus, not considered to be a suitable analysis method for Pb in packaging papers.

오니 시료중의 무기 Priority Pollutants의 분석 과정에 미치는 매질의 영향 (Matrix effect on the Determination of Inorganic Priority Pollutants in Sludges)

  • 무기 priority pollutants의 분석에 미치는 매질의 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 도금, 피혁, 제지, 전기, 염색 sludge에 7종의 무기 priority pollutants(Ni, Cr, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Hg)를 첨가하고 EPA 3050방법, 환경처의 폐기물공정시험방법 및 폐기물공정시험방법을 수정한 본 연구실 방법으로 비교 연구하였다. EPA 3050법에 따라 추출한 경우 Hg를 제외하고 평균회수율은 95.5%, 폐기물공정시험방법의 용출시험 방법에 따라 추출한 경우는 11.1%, 그리고 본 연구실에서 폐기물공정시험방법을 수정한 추출법의 경우는 27.7%의 평균 회수율이 나타났다. 매질에 따른 digestion에 대한 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 추출법에 의해 추출된 용액을 MDS(microwave digestion system)와 $HNO_3+HClO_4$ digestion 방법으로 회수율을 비교하였다. 유기 및 무기 매질에 대한 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 유기 매질인 경우는 triethanol amine, 무기 매질인 경우는 $FeCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$$AlCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$를 첨가하여 분석용 시료를 조제하고 AAS 및 HG-AAS로 회수율을 구하였다. 유기 및 무기 매질을 첨가한 시료가 첨가 하지 않은 시료 보다 회수율이 낮게 나타남에 따라 매질에 의한 영향을 받는 것으로 조사되었다. Hg는 MDS로 digestion하는 것이 회수율이 높게 나타났으며, Hg를 제외한 다른 원소는 $HNO_3+HClO_4$로 digestion 하는 것이 회수율 증가를 나타냈다.

서울대기중 아질산기체의 계절별 농도변화 (Concentration and Seasonal Variation of Gaseous Nitrous Acid in Seoul Air)

  • Hourly variation of gaseous nitrous acid( HNO$_2$) concentration in Seoul air was monitored from Jan. 11 to SeP. 12, Nitrous acid concentration was determined by DS/IC over nine months of observation, HNO$_2$ range from 0.04 ppb to 5.5 ppb. Gor-tex tube as gaseous HNO$_2$generator in this study is thought to be more convenient and reproducible device than previous generator. As a result of NaOH instead of Na$_2$ CO$_3$/NaHCO$_3$ solution as the IC eluent, we could obtain more stable baseline. The concentration of the NaOH eluent was 15 mM . The limit of detection(3$\sigma$) of the liquid- Phase and gas phase nitrous acid of this method are 1.1ng/$m\ell$ , 0.04 n $\ell$ / $\ell$, respectively. The precisions evaluated by 10 replicate analysis of standard solution and standard gas generated are $\pm$1.59, $\pm$2. 89% RSD, respectively. Due to the lack of standard material for air, direct assessment of the accuracy was not possible. This study was applied to the analysis of Seoul ambient air and their results are reported herein.

  • The mesoporous TiO2 film for the dye-sensitized solar cell was prepared by the spin coating using nano particle $TiO_2$ slurry. In order to obtain the good dispersion of nano size $TiO_2$ particles in slurry, the pH of solvent, the sort and quantity of solvent additive and the quantity of surfactant were adjusted. The experimental range of pH was $2\;{\sim}\;4$. The basic solvent for slurry was dilute $HNO_3$ and the solvent additives were ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and butylene glycol. The degree of particle dispersion was indirectly estimated by the viscosity of slurry and the microstructure after sintering. As results, the lower the pH of solvent was the lower the viscosity of the slurry became. The addition of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol to dilute $HNO_3$ brought about the lowering of viscosity and the enhancement of stability in slurry. The addition of surfactant lowered the viscosity of slurry. It was possible to obtain the homogeneous and uniformly dispersed mesoporous TiO2 film using the dilute HNO3 solvent of pH 2 with the addition of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and neutral surfactant.

Acid Texturing에 의한 태양전지용 다결정 실리콘 기판의 표면 반사율 감소 (Surface Reflectance Reduction of Multicrystalline Silicon Wafers for Solar Cells by Acid Texturing)

  • To improve efficiency of solar cells, it is important to make a light trapping structure to reduce surface reflectance for increasing absorption of sun light within the solar cells. One of the promising methods that can reduce surface reflectance is isotropic texturing with acid solution based on hydrofluoric acid(HF), nitric acid($HNO_3$), and organic additives. Anisotropic texturing with alkali solution is not suitable for multicrystalline silicon wafers because of its different grain orientation. Isotropic texturing with acid solution can uniformly etch multicrystalline silicon wafers unrelated with grain orientation, so we can get low surface reflectance. In this paper, the acid texturing solution is made up of only HF and $HNO_3$ for easy controlling the concentration and low cost compared to acid solution with organic additives. $HNO_3$ concentration and dipping time were varied to find the condition of minimum surface reflectance. Textured surfaces were observed Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) and surface reflectance were measured. The best result of arithmetic mean(wavelength from 400 nm to 1000 nm) reflectance with acid texturing is 4.64 % less than alkali texturing.

Np 함유 TBP 유기상으로부터 NBA에 의한 Np의 환원 역추출 (Reductive stripping of Np using a n-butyraldehyde from a loaded TBP phase containing Np)

  • 30 % TBP/NDD-2 M $HNO_3$ (0.005 M $K_2Cr_2O_7$ 함유) 계에 의해 산화 추출된 Np의 유기상을 대상으로 n-butyraldehyde (NBA)에 의한 Np의 환원 역추출을 고찰하였다. Np의 역추출은 NBA의 농도 증가에 따라, 역추출 수용상 내 질산농도 감소에 따라, 그리고 반응 온도 감소에 따라 증가하였으며, 이때 겉보기 환원 역추출 속도식은 $-d[Np]_{Org.}/dt$ =1,524 exp(-2,906/T) $[NBA]^{0.91}\;[H^+]^{-0.92}[Np]_{Org.}$. 이었다. 1.04M NBA 및 2M $HNO_3$에서 Np 및 U의 역추출률은 각각 70.1 % 및 7.1 % 이며 이때 분리계수(($=D_U/D_{Np}$)는 30.4 정도로, TBP-$HNO_3$ 계에 의해 공추출된 Np과 U은 NBA에 의해 효과적으로 상호 분리할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

과산화수소가 함유된 저산도 질산용액에서 DEHPA 추출제에 의한 Np의 추출거동 (Extraction Behaviour of Np with DEHPA from the Low Nitric Acid Solution Containing Hydrogen Peroxide)

  • 본 연구는 Np의 환원제로 $H_2O_2$가 함유된 1M 이하의 저산도 질산용액으로부터 DEHPA(di-(2-ethyhexyl)phosphoric acid) 추출제에 의한 Np의 추출 및 역추출 조건 설정과 추출속도 향상에 주안점을 두어, 회분식으로 실험을 수행하였다. 저산도 질산용액에서 Np의 산화상태는 주로 Np(V)로 존재하고 있음을 확인하였으며, Np의 추출율은 $H_2O_2$ 농도 및 DEHPA의 농도 증가에 따라 증가하고, 질산농도 증가에 따라 급격히 감소하였다. 제3의 산화/환원제가 첨가되지 않는 경우 추출율은 약 70% 정도로 다소 낮지만, DEHPA에 의해 추출이 가능함을 보았다. 또한 추출속도는 $H_2O_2$ 농도의 0.516 승에 비례하며, 질산농도의 0.483 승에 반비례하고 있는 다음과 같은 식을 얻었다. $d[Np(V)]/dt=-1.391{\times}10^{-2}[H_2O_2]^{0.516}[HNO_3]^{-0.483}[Np(V)]$ 그리고 과산화수소의 첨가 유무에 관계없이, 유기상으로 추출된 Np은 옥살산(oxalic acid)에 의해 효과적으로 역추출되었으며, 0.5M 옥살산으로 약 92% 이상을 역추출하였다.
