  • In this paper, an integrated automation system of pattern design and $CO_2$ laser cutting for diving suits is presented. Pattern design includes grading which creates a full-size range from a base pattern. Tool path for laser cutting from the patterns is generated in G-code format. $CO_2$ Laser cutting machine is developed to help cut the patterns with accuracy and speed. Aluminum profiles, ball screws, and stepping motors are engaged into the machine as frame structure, transfer unit, and driving devices respectively. The developed system is tested in dry suit cutting, convincing it can be readily introduced in driving suits manufacturing with respect to cost and efficiency.

  • The laser forming process is a new flexible forming process without forming tools and external force, which is applied to various fields of industry. Especially, applications of the laser forming process focused on cutting, welding and marking process. In this paper, the laser bending process of sheet metal which is heated by laser beam and formed by internal stress is simulated by using thermo elastic-plastic analysis model. Based on the result of FE-analysis, the laser bending machine is made to obtain reliable data for sheet bending. Under the same condition as FE-analysis, the laser bending experiment has been performed to ver 펴 the result of FE-analysis and good agreement has been obtained between FE-analysis and experiments. Additional laser bending experiments have been performed to evaluate the laser bending machine.

  • In the cutting of plate steel, the quality of the cut surfaces is strongly dependent on the cutting condition such as cutting speed, plate thickness, power, kerf width and gas pressure etc. The cutting tests of Steel Automobile Press Hot were carried out using $CO_2$ Laser cutting machine. The kerf width and surface roughness of a section are examined at various cutting conditions. This paper deals with cutting characteristics of Steel Automobile Press Hot(SAPH400) using $CO_2$ Laser Cutting Machine.

  • The purpose of this study is the machining of texture shapes by the contour fitting data. The hardware of the system comprises PC and scanning system, CO2 laser machine. There are four steps, (1) text image loading using scanning shapes or 2D image files, (2) generation of contour fitting data by the line and arc, cubic Bezier curve, (3) generation of NC code from the contouring fitting data, (4) machining by the DNC system. It is developed a software package, with which can conduct a micro CAM system of CNC laser machine in the PC without economical burden.

  • For developing 5-axis laser cutting systems, many problems such as rotating of laser head or table, 5-axis tool path generation and collision avoidance between laser head and product should be solved. In this paper, a five-axis laser cutting machine with table swivel and rotary type configuration is developed. The five axes (X,Y,Z,A,B) are controlled and interfaced to PC via MMC board. Two kinds of CAM S/W such as commercial 5-axis CAM S/W(Euclid) and UG-API are engaged to generate NC code for the developed 5-axis laser cutting machine.

  • This paper show the 2kW fiber laser cutting properties of SS400. The study was comparison of traditional 4kW $CO_2$ Laser cutting and 2kW Fiber laser cutting characteristics for the application of Industrial 2D Laser Cutting Machine. The laser used in this investigation was an IPG YLU-2000 multi-mode Ytterbium Fiber machine with a maximum power of 2000W and a wave length of 1070 nm. The laser was used in its Continuous Wave (CW) mode with an approximately top hat beam intensity distribution. Fiber laser high quality cuts at a large range of speeds (ranging from 2000 to 3800 mm/min) which has been obtained for the 2.3mm Sheet of SS400. 2kW power Fiber laser cut was able to max. 20mm sheets of SS400 (speed range from 650 to 850 mm/min). Fiber laser cutting used in conventional hole nozzle could cut 12mm SS400 but used in special dual cutting nozzle could cut 20mm SS400.

레이저 융합된 Co-Cr 합금의 물리적 성질에 관한 연구 (MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF LASER WELDED Co-Cr ALLOY)

  • Statement of problem : The joints of removable partial denture alloys have failed frequently after routine usage. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanical properties of the laser welded Co-Cr alloys. Material and method : For this study 20 Co-Cr specimens were casted and 10 of them were seperated on the middle area and laser welded with Alpha laser welding machine(Siro Lasertec, Pforzheim, Germany). Rest of them which were as cast, were used as a control group. For the section of the experimental specimens, wire cutting machine was used to make a even gap of the all specimens. Laser welding was done with manufacturer's instrunction and tested each specimen by Instron Machine. Tensile strength, 0.2% yield strength and % elongations were recorded. Fractured surfaces were investigated with SEM. Results : The results were as follows : 1. The tensile strength of the laser welded group(617.7MPa) was about 75% of the as cast group(820.4MPa). It had stastically significant differences(p<0.05). 2. The % elongation of the experimental group was 6.6 which was lower than the control group(14.3). 3. Fracture of the experimental group occured in the welded surface and showed many voids. In contrast, the fracture surface of the control group was showed rough surfaces without any voids. Conclusion : The tensile strengths of the as-cast joints were higher than those for the laser welded joints, and the % elongation of the experimental group was lower than the control group. Porosity was found in laser-welded joints.

  • CO2 laser had enabled accurate and effective cutting. But its application has been limited to thin and small parts. Development of a high power oscillator and oscillator built-in cutting machine have realized cutting of thick and large steel parts. This machine brings also possibility of fully automated cutting systems to practical steel parts such as for construction machinery.

  • Weld quality monitoring and seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis are studied. The material of tube is 60kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$ grade steel sheet, and the longitudinal butt-joint is shaped by 2 roll bending machine. The tube with a thickness of 1.5mm, diameter of 105.4mm and length of 2000mm is successfully obtained by the $CO_2$ laser welding system equipped with a seam tracker and plasma sensor. Experimental results show that the developed welding system can be used for the precision seam tracking and the real-time monitoring of weld quality, and the laser welded tube can be used for car body md component after tubular hydroforming.
