  • This paper describes comparative analysis results about the dynamic interaction of interconnected wind power system using the actual-size hardware simulator and the simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC. The hardware simulator, which is composed of 2.0MVA induction motor with drive system and 1.5MW doubly-fed induction generator, was built and tested in Go-Chang Test Site of KEPCO for analyzing the dynamic interaction with the interconnected distribution system. The operation of hardware simulator was verified through comparative analysis between experimental results and simulation results obtained by simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC. The developed hardware simulator and simulation model could be effectively used for analyzing the dynamic interaction, which has various phenomena depending on the wind variation and the network state of interconnected power system.

  • A combined hydrogen generator of plasma and catalytic reformer was developed, and was applied to stabilize unstable flame of 200,000 Kcal/hr LPG combustor. The role of the plasma reformer was to generate hydrogen in a short period and to heat-up the catalytic reformer during the start-up time. After the start-up period, the catalytic reformer generates hydrogen through steam reforming with oxygen (SRO) reactions. The maximum capacity of the hydrogen generator was enough 100 lpm to stabilize the flame of the present combustor. In order to reduce NOx and CO emissions simultaneously, 1) FGR (Flue Gas Recirculation) technique has been adopted and 2) the hydrogen was added into the fuel supplied to the combustor. Test results showed that the addition of 25% hydrogen and 30% FGR rate lead to simultaneous decrease of CO and NOx emissions. The technique developed in the present study showed good potential to replace $NH_3$ SCR technique, especially in the small-scale combustor applications.

  • Most of the small wind turbines are set as the stand alone type in the area where the access to the grid is difficult and compulsorily uses the battery. Depending on the volume of the battery, securing of the space necessary, and has the shortcoming of replacing the battery periodically due to it's limited working life span. Recently, setting up in the vicinity of the city area is increasing and the trend of using the Grid inverter instead of battery is also increasing. This thesis is aiming mainly analyzing the characteristics of the output power of the Prototype Permanent Magnet Generator(PMG) and the Grid-Inverter and to verify through the theoretical study and tests. Tested the characteristics of the output power of the PMG through the stage 1-2 and at the stage 3 connected the output of the PMG to the Inverter and tested the characteristics of the Inverter. And at the stage 4, the maximum output power is confirmed by the continuous running test of the PMG.

  • Research on usage of syngas produced by waste gasification is on going all around the world. Syngas which consists of $H_2$, CO, $CO_2$, $N_2$, has different combustion characteristics from current city gas; due to distinct flame propagation speed of the fuel, syngas has different spark timing and air fuel ratio at maximum generating efficiency. This is why finding both the optimum point of spark timing and air fuel ratio is so important in order to improve thermo efficiency and secure stable running of gas generated by relatively low heating value syngas. Moreover, since emission of $NO_x$ is strictly regulated, it is important to operate lean burn condition that reduces NOx emission.

  • The steam generator level in a PWR is very difficult to control particularly at low power. And the constant control gain and time value are not adaptive in steam generator level controller. In normal operation constant control gain and time value have no problem. But there is problem at low power. So variable control gains based on the temperature are required. The best control gain is decided by the experienced knowledge. A fuzzy gain tuner is used for the gain tuning. In the design of fuzzy gain-tuner processing, the experienced knowledge is employed for making fuzzy rules.

  • The stabilization characteristics of diffusion flame formed in the wake of a cylindrical flame holder were investigated. Distribution of turbulence intensity, concentration distribution of combustion gas, and ion currents were measured. The turbulence intensity in the wake of cylindrical- game holder is increased with increase of diameter or blockage ratio of grid. If the auxiliary fuel is injected into recirculation zone, the concentration of $C_3H_8$ is high, but the concentration of $CO_2$ is low at the boundary of recirculation zone. The region with highest average value of ion currents in the middle of flame is moved to the upstream side by the turbulent components of main stream. The flame mass with partially active reaction is moved fast for uniform flow and turbulence generator G3, but the flame mass with relatively slow reaction is moved slowly for turbulence generator G1.

  • The gas separation technology using membrane is widely used to refine various gases in many industry fields and recently is being applying in $CO_2$ recovery technology. In the gas and chemical tanker. nitrogen generators for inerting, purging and padding are on board and most of them have membrane modules of hollow fiber type with long life and vibration resisting properties. Because a membrane module is a key component accounting for 50% of total manufacturing cost of nitrogen generator, adequate selection for it is an important problem. In this paper, the flow performance coefficient based on dimension and specification data of membrane module was relatively selected to compare nitrogen generating capacity of module and various performance tests about the selected PARKER ST6010 membrane module were conducted. As a result, the useful coefficient and basic data in selecting a membrane module were achieved.

  • In this paper an experimental was done to design combustion chambers which is required radiation strength of high temperature generator of absorption rigerator. Partiqularly, in combustion chamber radiative mediums were set and basic experiments were done according to its size by radiation strength and effects of heat transfer promotion. The results are as follows : 1) When radiative mediums were set in small combustion furnace burning nonframely radiative heat transfer was effected. 2) In case that area ratio($A/A_o$) of radiative medium is 0.82 or over, temperature fluctuation effects of furnace inside were not nearly. 3) In experimental boundary heat transfer effects were 1.8 times by setting up radiative medium. Specially, $q/{\Delta}T$ values of furnace inside were uniformed nearly by setting up radiative mediums.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the understanding of pollution causes in the excitation system and how to solve the problem. The cause of the problem was in-leakage of bearing lubricant oil through the gap between rotor and outer in the air deflector, which was triggered by a negative pressure with respect to the operation of a collector ring fan in the collector house. In order to prevent exciting current transmission equipment pollutant, the reduction of the negative gage pressure of the inside of collector house is required. The protection in-leakage of bearing lubricant oil through the gap between rotor and outer of the air deflector are necessary. The reduction of the inside diameter of air deflector and the expansion of inlet filter of collector house are inevitable.
