Thermoelectric Properties of the 0.05wt% $SbI_3$-Doped n-Type $Bi_2({Te_{0.95}}{Se_{0.05}})_3$ Alloy with Variation of the Annealing Time (0.05wt% $SbI_3$를 첨가한 n형 $Bi_2({Te_{0.95}}{Se_{0.05}})_3$ 가압소결체의 열처리 시간에 따른 열전특성)

  • Thermoelectric properties of the 0.05wt% $SbI_3$-doped n-type $Bi_2(Te_{0.95}Se_{0.05})_3$ alloy, prepared by melting/grinding and hot pressing, were investigated with variation of the annealing time up to 36 hours. The electron concentration of the 0.05wt% SbI$_3$-doped n-type $Bi_2(Te_{0.95}Se_{0.05})_3$ alloy decreased with increasing the annealing time. The figure-of-merit of the 0.05wt% $SbI_3$-doped n-type $Bi_2(Te_{0.95}Se_{0.05})_3$ alloy was improved from $2.1{\times}10^{-3}/K$ to $2.35{\times}10^{-3}/K$ by annealing at $500^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. When annealed longer than 12 hours, however, the figure-of-merit decreased substantially due to the increase of the electrical resistivity.

  • Studies have been perfor mad on the normalization of V-I characteristics, the dependence of current runaway on the applied step voltage and the analysis of the current channet in the sintered 5Fe$_2$O$_3$-5Bi$_2$O$_3$. From the measurement of snitching Properties of the sintered 5Fe$_2$O$_3$-5Bi$_2$O$_3$, it is exe]twined that the electrical switching mechanism is that of thermal ionic breakolown.

  • Yttria-bismuth-stabilized zirconia was investigated with respect to the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition in the ran-ge of 0.5~5mol% to the base composition of $(ZrO_2)_{0.92}(Y_2O_3)_{0.08}.Bismuth was introduced into the ma-terial with $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glasses in order to reduce the evaporation of components. The sinterbility evaporation of components phase formation and microstructure were evaluated depending on the amount of $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass addition. Two probe A. C conductivity measurement was subjected to all the specimens and the result was discussed on the possible substitution of $Bi^{3+}$ for $Zr^{4+}$ and interistial $Si^{4+}$ in the fluorite structure of zirconia crystal there-upon the possible change in the capability of oxygen transference within the material. It was found that the addition of $Bi_2O_3$ could improve the sinterbility of material very much while not so much.oxygen sensing material suitable for relative low temperature firing.

  • After studing on the type of Bi(肥) and Su(痩) of Body in 'Yellow Emperior's Nei-Ching', I reached the following conclusions; 1. The specific charactor of bi(肥) and su(痩) were explained in table 1. 2. The specific charactor of gi(脂), ko(膏) and youk(肉) were explaned in table 2. 3. Obserbing the type of bi(肥) and su(痩) by the view of YinYang(陰陽), bi(肥) belongs to Yin(陰) and su(痩) belongs to Yang(陽). Also the each of bi(肥) and su(痩) could obserbed by the view of YinYang(陰陽). The type of su(痩) easily becomes to yanghea(陽虛) because chi(氣) easely becomes to exhaust also easely becomes to yinhea(陰虛) because blood(血) easely becomes to exhaust. So the outer of body is cold, the inner of body is hot. The type of bi(肥) easely causes YinYang(陰陽) to exceed because blood(血) easely becomes to black and turbid(血黑以濁), chi(氣) easely becomes to rough and slow(氣澁以遲). So the outer of body is hot, the iner of body is cold 4. Obserbing the type of bi(肥) and su(痩) by the view of viscera, in view of upper and lower(上下觀點) su(痩) is yang(陽) so heart and lung belongs to su(痩) bi(肥) is yin(陰) so liver and kidney belongs In bi(肥). in view of inner and outer(內外觀點) su(痩) is inner(內) so heart 3I1d liver belongs In su(痩) bi(肥) is outer(外) so lung and kidney belongs to bi(肥). 5. Obserbing the type of bi(肥) and su(痩) by the view of body constitution(體質), partially body constitution was divided into gi(脂), ko(膏) and youk(肉), entirely there was OhtaeinLon(五態人論) and four constitutional medicine(四象醫學) I thing that taeyangin(太陽人) and soyangin(少陽人) belong to su(痩), taeyinin(太陰人) and soyinin(少陰人) belong to bi(肥).

  • It this paper, the piezoelectric and electro-induced strain properties of (P $b_{1-}$2x/3/B $i_{x}$ )[N $i_{1}$3/N $b_{2}$3/)$_{0.4}$( $Ti_{0.6}$Z $r_{0.4}$)$_{0.6}$] $O_3$ceramics (x=0, 0.005, 0.02) were investigated with the substitution of B $i^{3+}$, and the feasibility of the application for bimorph actuator was evaluated by measuring the dynamic properties of the piezoelectric bimorph fabricated with above ceramics. Dielectric constant was enhanced with the increase of B $i^{3+}$ substitution, and appeared the maximum value of 5032 at x=0.01 composition. Increasing the substitution of B $i^{3+}$, the electromechanical coefficient( $k_{p}$ , $k_{31}$ ) was increased up to the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$, showed the value of 0.656, 0.439, respectively. The piezoelectric constant( $d_{33}$ $d_{31}$ ) had the highest value of 344, 825 with the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$. The strain, generated by 60 Hz AC electric field, had the largest value of 1200($\times$10$^{-6}$ $\Delta$1/1) in the composition with the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$. The dynamic properties of the bimorph actuator, fabricated with the composition substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$, showed the largest value of 325 $\mu$m at $\pm$150 V square pulse. square pulse.are pulse..

  • We aimed to examine the co-doping effects of 1/6 mol% $Mn_3O_4$ and 1/4 mol% $Cr_2O_3$ (Mn:Cr = 1:1) on the reaction, microstructure, and electrical properties, such as the bulk defects and grain boundary properties, of ZnO-$Bi_2O_3-Sb_2O_3$ (ZBS; Sb/Bi = 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0) varistors. The sintering and electrical properties of Mn,Cr-doped ZBS, ZBS(MnCr) varistors were controlled using the Sb/Bi ratio. Pyrochlore ($Zn_2Bi_3Sb_3O_{14}$), ${\alpha}$-spinel ($Zn_7Sb_2O_{12}$), and ${\delta}-Bi_2O_3$ (also ${\beta}-Bi_2O_3$ at Sb/Bi ${\leq}$ 1.0) were detected for all of the systems. Mn and Cr are involved in the development of each phase. Pyrochlore was decomposed and promoted densification at lower temperature on heating in Sb/Bi = 1.0 system by Mn rather than Cr doping. A more homogeneous microstructure was obtained in all systems affected by ${\alpha}$-spinel. In ZBS(MnCr), the varistor characteristics were improved dramatically (non-linear coefficient, ${\alpha}$ = 40~78), and seemed to form ${V_o}^{\cdot}$(0.33 eV) as a dominant defect. From impedance and modulus spectroscopy, the grain boundaries can be seen to have divided into two types, i.e. one is tentatively assigned to ZnO/$Bi_2O_3$ (Mn,Cr)/ZnO (0.64~1.1 eV) and the other is assigned to the ZnO/ZnO (1.0~1.3 eV) homojunction.

  • The present study aims at the examination of the effects of 1 mol% NiO addition on the reaction, microstructure development, resultant electrical properties, and especially the bulk trap and interface state levels of $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Sb_2O_3$ (Sb/Bi=0.5, 1.0, and 2.0) systems (ZBS). The samples were prepared by conventional ceramic process, and characterized by density, XRD, SEM, I-V, impedance and modulus spectroscopy (IS & MS) measurement. The sintering and electrical properties of Ni-doped ZBS (ZBSN) systems were controlled by Sb/Bi ratio. Pyrochlore ($Zn_2Bi_3Sb_3O_{14}$) was decomposed more than $100^{\circ}C$ lowered in ZBS (Sb/Bi=1.0) by Ni doping. The reproduction of pyrochlore was suppressed by the addition of Ni in ZBS. Between two polymorphs of $Zn_7Sb_2O_{12}$ spinel ($\alpha$ and $\beta$), microstructure of ZBSN (Sb/Bi=0.5) composed of a-spinel was more homogeneous than $Sb/Bi{\geq}1.0$ composed of $\beta$-spinel phase. In ZBSN, the varistor characteristics were not improved drastically (non-linear coefficient $\alpha\;=\;6{\sim}11$) and independent on microstructure according to Sb/Bi ratio. Doping of Ni to ZBS seemed to form ${V_0}^{\cdot}$ (0.33 eV) as dominant bulk defect. From IS & MS, especially the grain boundaries of Sb/Bi=0.5 systems were divided into two types, i.e. sensitive to oxygen and thus electrically active one and electrically inactive intergranular one with temperature.

  • EagBI is a type II restriction endonuclease from Enterobacter agglomerans strain CBNU45 isolated from soil. EagBI was partially purified by DEAE-cellulose, phosphocellulose P11 and hydroxylapatite column chromatography. EagBI recognizes and cleaves the sequence 5'-CGAT${\downarrow}$CG-3' and generates 2-base 3'-protruding cohesive ends. The optimal reaction conditions of EagBI are 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.8), 6-10 mM $MgCl_2$, at 37 ${\circ}C$. The enzyme is maximally active in the absence of NaCl, able to cleave both $dam^-$ and $dam^+$ DNAs, and sensitive to heat treatment (at 65 ${\circ}C$ for 10 min). Therefore, although EagBI is an isoschizomer of PvuI, it is more useful than PvuI in respect of the NaCl requirement and heat-stability.

  • To enhance the formation of Bi,Sr,Ca,Cu,O,(Bi-2223) single phase in a shorter reaction time, the intermediate compounds such as Bi,Sr,CuO,(Bi-2201). BizSr,CaCuz08(Bi-2212) and (Ca, Sr,, ,9)CuOz in the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-0 system were used as the precursors. The formation of Bi-2223 was enhanced in the mixture of Bi-2201 and (Ca, ,,Sr, 119)C~eOsZpe,c ially from the mixture with (Ca, 9I Sr, ,,)CuO,-rich composition compared to Bi, iPb, 4Sr2Ca,Cu3010-cxo mposition. The formation of Bi- 2223 essentially completed within 60h at 860$^{\circ}$C and 870$^{\circ}$C. However, a small amount of the remnant Bi-2212 phase did not disappear even after a prolonged reaction at 870'C. The merit of the proposed synthetic method using the intermediate precusors can be summarized as a shorter reaction time for the formation of Bi-2223 phase, in addition to a smaller amount of second phases compared to the conventional solid-state reaction method.

Electrical Properties of ZnO-Bi2O3-Sb2O3 Ceramics (ZnO-Bi2O3-Sb2O3 세라믹스의 전기적 특성)

  • In this study, it has been investigated on the changing behavior of electrical properties in $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Sb_2O_3$ (Sb/Bi=2.0, 1.0 and 0.5) ceramics. The samples were prepared by conventional ceramic process, and then characterized by I-V, C-V curve plots, impedance and modulus spectroscopy (IS & MS) measurement. The electrical properties of ZBS systems were strongly dependent on Sb/Bi. In ZBS systems, the varistor characteristics were deteriorated noticeably with increasing Sb/Bi and the donor density and interface state density were increased with increasing Sb/Bi. On the other hand, we observed that the grain boundary reacted actively with the ambient oxygen according to Sb/Bi ratio. Especially the grain boundaries of Sb/Bi=0.5 systems were divided into two types, i.e. sensitive to oxygen and thus electrically active one and electrically inactive intergranular one with temperature. Besides, the increased pyrochlore and $\beta$-spinel phase with Sb/Bi ratio caused the distributional inhomogeneity in the grain boundary barrier height and the temperature instability. To the contrary, the grain boundary layer was relatively homogeneous and more stable to temperature change and kept the system highly nonlinear at high Bi-rich phase contents.
