  • 본 논문에서는 $90^{\circ}$ 하이브리드 결합기에 여파기 특성을 결합하여 전력분배와 하모닉 저지특성효과를 보여주고 있다. 일반적인 $90^{\circ}$ 하이브리드 결합기는 위상차를 갖고 전력을 분배, 합성하는 데에만 쓰이고 있기 때문에 비선형 소자와 결합함으로써 생기는 하모닉 성분을 억제하려면 여파기를 따로 설계해야 하는 단점이 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 하이브리드에 저역통과 여파기 특성을 결합함으로써 위상차와 전력분배는 물론 여파기 특성인 감쇠효과를 이용하여 하모닉 성분을 크게 감소시킬 수 있는 구조를 연구하였다.

Evaluation of Melanoidins Formed from Black Garlic after Different Thermal Processing Steps

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of melanoidins formed from black garlic (BG) after different thermal processing steps. The melanoidins formed from BG during thermal processing were produced in large amounts, and the initial (280 nm), intermediate (360 nm), and final stage product (420 nm) had similar tendencies. Compounds like degraded proteins, peptides, and phenolic acids were present in the melanoidins during thermal processing. All the melanoidin samples showed different absorptions in the UV-visible spectra, although these had similar shapes. Moreover, the carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen content of melanoidins formed from BG during thermal processing decreased initially, and then increased. However, the nitrogen content increased during thermal processing. As thermal processing progressed, the molecular weight of all the melanoidin samples showed increasing intensities, whereas the major peaks of each melanoidin sample had different retention times. Furthermore, the melanoidins formed from BG after different thermal processing steps contained -OH, -CH, amide I, and III groups. The crystallinity of the melanoidins was majorly formed at $31.58^{\circ}$ and $43.62^{\circ}$ ($2{\theta}$).

A Study on the Circumferential Groove Effects on the Minimum Oil Film Thickness in Engine Bearings

  • This paper presents the effects of circumferential groove on the minimum oil film thickness in engine bearings. The fluid film pressures are calculated by using the infinitely short bearing theory for the convenience of analysis. Journal locus analysis is performed by using the mobility method. A comparison of minimum oil film thickness of grooved and ungrooved bearing is presented. It is found that circumferential $360^{\circ}$ groove only reduces the absolute magnitude of the oil film thickness, but $180^{\circ}$ half groove affects the shape of film thickness curve and position of minimum oil film thickness.

  • This paper deals with the control of an active bending actuator fur a catheter. The bending actuator with 40mm in length utilizes three zigzag SMA (shape memory alloy) springs which are equally located in the circumference between inner $({\phi}2.5 mm)$ and outer $({\phi}3.0mm)$ tube. It is purposed on realization of desired bending angle $(90^{\circ})$ and direction $(360^{\circ})$. It is also installed in front of the catheter and used to guide a path at extremely bent or branched blood vessel. The performance-analysis of the bending actuator are investigated fur the purpose of optimizing the control of the bending actuator. The analog joy stick is used to command a bending angle and direction for the fast and accurate response. According to the commands of the joy stick, tensile force of each SMA spring is computed and obtained by controlling the temperature of each SMA spring using PWM (pulse width modulation) of supplied electric power.

Angle of View Polarization Characterization of Liquid Crystal Displays and Their Components

  • LCD performance is generally evaluated in terms of luminance and color versus viewing angle. In the present paper, we show that this type of display can be favorably characterized in terms of polarization. We show that ELDIM EZContrast instrument which is routinely used for viewing angle measurements can be upgrade for measuring the polarization state of the light at each incidence and azimuth angle. More precisely, the degree of polarization of light, its ellipticity and polarization direction can be measured at each incidence angle between 0 and $88^{\circ}$ and for all the azimuth angles (from 0 to $360^{\circ}$). Important differences between the displays can be detected and related to their internal structures when luminance and color profiles are quite similar. The same setup can also be used to characterize optical components of the LCDs.

  • Drying characteristics of green onion and onion during fluidized and fixed bed drying were investigated and compared. Sliced peen onion and onion were dried at drying air temperature of 45, 55, and $65^{\circ}C$. Drying air velocity during fluidized bed drying was adjusted with drying time at each drying temperature. Drying time to reach a given final moisture content was shorten in fluidized bed drying than in fixed bed drying - for drying temperature of 45, 55, and $65^{\circ}C$, the differences were 60, 60, and 50 min for green onion and 360, 180, and 60 min for onion. Drying constant (K) was greatly affected by drying method and drying temperature. Terminal velocity under fluidized bed drying was decreased exponentially for green onion and linearly (or onion with increase of drying temperature. Also, terminal velocity had linear relationship with moisture content for both green onion and onion.

High sensitivity ethanol gas sensors (고감도 에탄올 가스 센서)

  • Highly sensitive thick film ethanol gas sensors based on a nanocrystalline $In_{2}O_{3}$ were fabricated by painting method on alumina substrates. The crystal structure of the $In_{2}O_{3}$ powder was characterised by XRD analysis. The microstructure of the films were characterised using FE-SEM. The experimental results of the ethanol gas sensing characteristics indicated that the undoped $In_{2}O_{3}$ thick film has a high sensitivity. The sensitivity of the film heat treated at $400^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs. was as high as 32.73 at an operating temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ to 1000 ppm ethanol gas in air.

Hydrolsis Behaviour of Antheraea pernyi Silk Fiber Treated with HCI (염산처리 작잠견사의 가수분해거동)

  • Hydrolysis rate and activation energy of Antheraea pernyi silk fiber treated with HCI were examined. Thermal decomposition temperature and surface morphology were also investigated by using differential scanning calorimeter and scanning electron microscope. As the concentration of hydrochloric acid and the treatment temperature increased, the hydrolysis occurred more rapidly. The activation energy of Antheraea pernyi, 74.0 kJ/mol, was higher than that of Bombyx mori, 58.1 kJ/mol. As the concentration of hydrochloric acid increases, the activation energy of Antheraea pernyi decreased from 74.0 kJ/mol to 62.0 kJ/mol. The shape of acid-resistance fraction of Antheraea pernyi became more distroyed and was transformed from fiber to powdered form with an increase of hydrolysis rate. The thermal decomposition temperature of Antheraea pernyi was 360.8$^{\circ}C$ until the hydrolysis rate was 81.8 wt%, but ti decreased to 347.0$^{\circ}C$ when the hydrolysis rate was 93.8 wt%.

  • 본 연구는 2-Propanol과 O-xylene의 혼합물의 인화점과 자연발화에 관한 연구이다. 인화점의 경우 2-Propanol과 O-xylene의 혼합비를 변화하여 측정하였으며, 2-Propanol은 $12^{\circ}C$를 구하였고, O-xylene는 $32^{\circ}C$를 구하였다. 자연발화의 경우 2-Propanol과 O-xylene의 농도를 변화시켜 혼합한 시료를 만들어 최저발화온도와 순간발화온도를 측정하였다.

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics using ${Fe_2}{O_3}$ and $WO_3$ as sintering aids were manufactured with the amount of $WO_3$ addition, and the specimens were sintered at 900, 930, $960^{\circ}C$, respectively. Thereafter, their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. The sintering aids were proved to lower the sintering temperature of piezoelectric ceramics due to the effects of ${Fe_2}{O_3}$ and $WO_3$ liquid phase. At 0.3wt% $WO_3$ added specimen sintered at $930^{\circ}C$, kp, Qm, dielectric constant and $d_{33}$ showed the optimum values of 0.60, 1402, 1440 and 360[pC/N], respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.
