Coordination Polymers Consisting of Unusual Motifs. Synthesis and Properties of Silver(I) and Copper(II) Complexes of Triethanolaminetriisonicotinate

  • Reaction of AgNO3 with triethanolaminetriisonicotinate (L) produces 1 D coordination polymer of [Ag3(L)2](NO3)3 and the same treatment of Cu(NO3)2 with L gives 1D coordination polymer of [Cu(L)2](NO3)2. The nonrigid triethanolaminetriisonicotinate acts as a m 3-bridged tridentate for [Ag3(L)2](NO3)3 and a m 2-bridged bidentate for [Cu(L)2](NO3)2 to produce unusual motifs. The NO3- anions can be smoothly exchanged by PF6- anions in an aqueous suspension without destruction of the skeletal structure.

Effects of Nitrogen Form of Nutrient Solution on the Growth of Aster tataricus, Chrysanthemum boreale, and Farfugium japonicum (개미취, 감국 및 털머위 생육에 미치는 양액내 질소원의 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of nitrogen form in the Hoagland nutrient solution on the growth of Farfugium japonicum, Aster tataricus and Chrysanthemum boreale. The nitrogen form of Hoagland nutrient solution was modified to $NH_4{^+}(100%),\;NO_3{^-}(100%),\;and\;NH_4{^+}+NO_3{^-}(50%+5%)$ for this study. In the treatment of $NO_3{^-}\;and\;NH_4{^+}+NO_3{^-}(1:1)$, F. japonicum showed the best growth, especially in fresh weight. With the treatment of $NO_3{^-}$, shoot and root fresh weight of A. tataricus and C. boreale were increased. The activity of nitrate reductase and the concentration of chlorophyll and nitrate were increased with $NO_3{^-}$ treatment in all these plants.

Characteristics of NO and NO2 at Roadside and Urban Residential Locations in Busan (부산 지역 도로변과 주거지역의 NO와 NO2 농도 특성)

  • This research investigated the characteristics of NO and $NO_2$ concentration at roadside (Choryangdong) and residential (Sujeongdong) locations in Busan. The NO concentration at roadside and residential were 34.7 and 8.0 ppb, respectively, and $NO_2$ at roadside and residential were 31.6 and $18.0ppb\;{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. The NO concentration was the highest in winter at roadside at 37.1 ppb, followed by 35.0 ppb and 34.0 ppb in summer and fall, respectively. $NO_2$ concentration was the highest in spring at roadside at 39.6 ppb, followed by 30.4 ppb and 28.3 ppb in fall and winter, respectively. Number of exceedances per year of 1 hr limit value (0.10 ppm) for $NO_2$ at roadside and residential were 3,585 and 3 hours, respectively. Number of exceedances per year of 24 hr limit value (0.06 ppm) for $NO_2$ at roadside and residential were 32 and 1 days, respectively. Number of exceedances per year of 1 hr limit value (0.1 ppm) for $O_3$ at roadside and residential were 1 and 14 days, respectively. These results indicated that understanding the relationship between roadside and residential could provide insight into establishing a strategy to control urban air quality.

  • The title complex [Pt(dppe)($NO_3$)($CF_3SO_3$)] (dppe=1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, $Ph_2PCH_2CH_2PH_2$) was prepared by sequentially treating [Pt(dppe)$Cl_2$] with 1 equiv of $AgNO_3$ and 1 equiv AgOTf (OTf=$CF_3SO_3$). The Pt metal is coordinated by two phosphorous atoms of the dppe ligand, one oxygen atom of the nitrato ($NO^-_3$) ligand, and one oxygen atom of the triflato(trifluoromethylsulfonato, $OTf^-$) ligand. The coordination sphere of Pt metal can be described as a distorted square plane.

Effects of Farming Practice and NO3-N Contents of Groundwater with Different locations under Intensive Greenhouse Area (시설재배지의 재배방법 및 입지적 조건이 지하수 NO3-N 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate effects of fanning practice and $NO_3-N$ contents of groundwater in intensive horticultural greenhouse area of Yeongnam province, the groundwater samples from 1,370 sites were collected and analyzed. In addition, cultivation year, crops, desalinization methods, amounts of manure application, tube well depth and soil texture with clay contents were observed. Of the investigated sites, 19.7% of shallow groundwater and 1.3% of confined groundwater were exceeded over $10mg/{\ell}$ as the $NO_3-N$ drinking limit value, respectively. $NO_3-N$ concentration in groundwater was highly significantly correlative with clay content $(r=-0.241^{**})$, well depth $(r=-0.228^{**})$ and cultivation duration $(r=0.104^*)$, respectively. In case of desalting crop method being executed for desalinization of greenhouse soil, the $NO_3-N$ value of groundwater was lower than any other desalinization method. The fact that $NO_3-N$ contents of confined groundwater was affected by shallow groundwater was clarified by that $NO_3-N$ contents in shallow were significantly correlative with the confined groundwater $(r=0.532^{**})$.

  • To determine the effect of anions on growth and major components of hot pepper fruit, various combinations of N, S and P concentration in culture media were employed. The results analyzed by using binary interaction method were 1. For the ideal condition for growth, the plant height was found by $75%\;NO_3^-+25%\;SO_4^{--}$ in NS group and $68.5%\;No_3^-+31.5%\;PO_4^{---}$ in NPgroup. The number of node was showed by $71%\;NO_3^-+29%\;SO_4^{--}$ and $75%\;NO_3^-+25%\;PO_4^{---}$. 2. The ideal condition for the maximum yield was by $77.5%\;No_3^-+22.5%\;SO_4^{--}$ and $72.5%\;NO_3^-+27.5%\;PO_4^{---}$. For matured fruit yield, $77%\;NO_3^-+23%\;SO_4^{--}$ and $73.5%\;NO_3^-+26.5%\;PO_4^{---}$ was found ideal. 3. There were no significant differences in the amount of free sugars and capsaicin between the treatments.

Effect of $TO_3$ and $NO_2$ on Net Photosynthesis, Transpiration and Accumulation of Nitrite in Sunflower Leaves

  • Photosynthesis and transpiration rates were simultaneously measured in attached sunflower leaves(Helianthus annuusL. cv. Russian Mammoth) during exposure to $NO_2$ and $O_3$ to determine the effect of mixed gan on photosynthesis and the stomatal aperture. The application of $O_3$ alone reduced both the net photosynthetic and transpiration rates. An analysis of the $CO_2$ diffusive resistances indicated that the main cause affecting photosynthesis reduction during $O_3$ exposure was not the internal gas phase of the leaf $(rCO_2^{liq})$ but rather the liquid phase or mesophyll diffusive resistance $(rCO_2^{liq})$, suggesting that there is a very concomitant relation between photosynthetic reduction and $rCO_2^{liq}$. The application of NO2 alone caused a marked reduction of the net photosynthesis yet no significant reduction of transpiration, indicating that NO2 affects the $CO_2$ fixation processes with no inluence on the stomatal aperture. A greter reduction in the photosynthesis of sunflower plants was caused by the application of $NO_2$ alone as compared to a combination of $NO_2$ and $O_3$. $NO_2$ alone reduced the photosynthetic rate by 90%, whereas a mixture of NO2 and O3 reduced it by 50%.

Effect of AgNO3 Pretreatment on Reducing SO2 Injury in Forsythia koreana Nakai (AgNO3 처리(處理)가 개나리의 SO2 가스 피해(被害) 경감(輕減)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • In order to investigate the effect of $AgNO_3$ pretreatment on reducing $SO_2$ injury in leaves of Forsythia koreana, changes of pH, chlorophyll content, peroxidase activity, sulfur content, and stomatal behaviour in leaves were examined. 1. $AgNO_3$ sprayed at 200 ppm or above increased black spot development in lower epidermis of leaves. But pretreatment with 100 ppm $AgNO_3$ significantly reduced de foliation and visible injury rate of leaves exposed to $SO_2$. 2. $AgNO_3$ pretreatment prevented lowering pH and decreasing chlorophyll content induced by $SO_2$ injury in leaves. But both $AgNO_3$ pretreatment and $SO_2$ exposure increased peroxidase activity in leaves. 3. $AgNO_3$ pretreatment did not affect reducing $SO_2$ absorption and stomatal opening in leaves exposed to $SO_2$.

Study on the Content of ${NO_3}^-$ in Green Vegetable Juice by Different Sorts, Harvesting Time, Mixing Rate of Vegetable, Storage Condition and Manufacturers (채소 모재료의 종류, 수확시기별, 부위별 혼합비율, 저장조건 및 생산회사에 따른 녹즙의 ${NO_3}^-$ 함량차이)

  • After the consumption of green vegetable juice by Korean increase rapidly, the ${NO_3}^-$ intake through green vegetable juice have been ignored to consider for the calculation of daily ${NO_3}^-$ intake. It is necessary to collect the basic data on the ${NO_3}^-$ content in green vegetable juice by different sorts, harvesting time and mixing rate of vegetable, manufacturers and storage conditions for the next calculation of daily ${NO_3}^-$ intake for Korean. Followings are the research results from monitoring and laboratory experiment related with ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C in green vegetable juice. The ${NO_3}^-$ content of angelica plaant(tomorrow's leaf) and kale were higher in spring than those in summer and autumm. The highest value of ${NO_3}^-$ content in tomorrow's leaf and kale were 4.85 and 2.94 times higher compare to the lowest value. The average ${NO_3}^-$ content in the midribs of tomorrow's leaf and kale were 7.5 and 2.1 times higher than those in leafblades. It indicate the green vegetable juice made from leadblade of tomorrow's leaf and kale might be better compare to those from midrib in terms of ${NO_3}^-$ content. The content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C as affected by the timecourse after juice making were decreased rapidly compare to those by storage temperature in case of carrot, kale and cucumber juice. It show the positive comelation between the content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C in carrot, kale and cucumber juice regardless of room temperature(${NO_3}^-$) or cold temperature(${NO_3}^-$). The content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C of green vegetable juice by P company were the highest among the manufactuers. The lower content of ${NO_3}^-$ and vitamine C of green vegecable juice by TW company and GB company compare to P company is due to dilution with water to produce the juice. The content of ${NO_3}^-$ of green vegetable juice which were available in market showed 143ppm in carrot juice, 506ppm in tomorrow's leaf juice, 669ppm in wild water celery juice, 985ppm in kale juice, whereas the content of vitamine C were 43ppm in carrot juice, 289ppm in wild water celery juice, 353ppm in kale juice and 768ppm in tomorrow's leaf juice. It was calculated that people take 253mg by tomorrow's leaf juice, 335mg by wild water celery juice, 483mg by kale juice if they drink 500ml of green vegetable juice perday, and it suggest to excess 1.16, 1.53 and 2.21 times respectively only by green vegetable juice consumption.
