  • The effect of the process parameters on the stable lifetime in rapid thermal firing(RTF) was investigated in order to optimize the process for the Cz-silicon. The process temperature was varied between $700^{\circ}C\;and\;950^{\circ}C$ while the process time was chosen 1 s and 10 s. At below $850^{\circ}C$ the stable lifetime for 10 s is higher than that for 1 s and increases with increasing by the process temperature. However, at over $850^{\circ}C$ the improved stable lifetime is not dependent on the process time and temperature. On the other hand, two high temperature processes in solar cell fabrics are combined with the optimized process and the non-optimized process. The last process determines the stable lifetime. Also, the degraded stable lifetime could be increased by processing in optimized process. The decreased lifetime can increase using the optimized oxidation process, which is a final process in solar cells. Finally, the optimized and non-optimized processes are applied solar cells.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the thickness of the abdominal muscles during single leg holding exercise (SLH) in a hooked lying position on stable surface and on a foam roller. Healthy twenty subjects who had no medical history of lower extremity or lower back pain were recruited for this study. Muscle thickness of transverse abdominis (TrA), internal oblique (IO), and external oblique (EO) was recorded using real-time ultrasonography during SLH. Paired t-test with Bonferroni adjustment was used to compare the muscles thickness during SLH on stable surface and on a foam roller. The result showed that TrA and IO muscle demonstrated greater thickness during SLH on foam roller than those on the stable surface. This finding suggests that SLH on an unstable foam roller is more effective to increase thicknesses of TrA and IO muscles than stable surface.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to provide an efficient and basis for muscle activity of Quadriceps muscles and balance in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction patients through unstable surface exercise and stable surface exercise. Methods : This study included 30 anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction patients belonging to A hospital and D orthopedic surgery clinic of province who attended the program for 30 minutes at a time and three times a week for 4 weeks. Of these 15 attended the unstable surface exercise program and 15 the stable surface exercise program. To increase muscle activity (%MVIC) and balance (WPL), the unstable surface exercise. Results : The %MVIC of lower extrmity muscle(RF, VL, VM) increased from before training to after training in the case of the participants who performed the unstable surface exercise, and the whole path length (WPL) decreased from before the training to after the training(p<.05). Conclusion : In conclusion, unstable surface exercise program helps to improve the balancing ability and musle activity in a anterior cruciate ligament recunstruction patients who requires both muscle activity and balance than stable surface exercise program.

  • The incidnce of enterotoxigenic Esherichia coli(ETEC) was investigated in E. coli strains isolated from Korean infants less than two years old. Over a period of 12 months, ETEC strains have been isolated from 45(45.0%) of 100 children with acute diarrhea and from 9(20.5%) of 44 children without diarrhea. In the group with diarrhea, 41(41.0%) strains produced heat-stable toxin, 3(3.1%) produced heat-labile toxin, and 1(1.0%) produced both heat-stable and heat-labile toxins. In the control group, 7(15.9%) released heat-stable toxin, 2(4.5%) released heat-labile toxin and none released both. A statistical association of strains releasing heat-stable toxin was significant(P<0.025).

  • Large fluctuations in surface strain at the level of steel are expected in reinforced concrete flexural members at a given stage of loading due to the emergent structure (emergence of new crack patterns). This has been identified in developing deterministic constitutive models for finite element applications in Ibrahimbegovic et al. (2010). The aim of this paper is to identify a suitable probability distribution for describing the large deviations at far from equilibrium points due to emergent structures, based on phenomenological, thermodynamic and statistical considerations. Motivated by the investigations reported by Prigogine (1978) and Rubi (2008), distributions with heavy tails (namely, alpha-stable distributions) are proposed for modeling the variations in strain in reinforced concrete flexural members to account for the large fluctuations. The applicability of alpha-stable distributions at or in the neighborhood of far from equilibrium points is examined based on the results obtained from carefully planned experimental investigations, on seven reinforced concrete flexural members. It is found that alpha-stable distribution performs better than normal distribution for modeling the observed surface strains in reinforced concrete flexural members at these points.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to compare task-oriented balance training on stable and unstable surfaces in terms of the fall risk, balance, and gait abilities in patients with stroke. METHODS: Twenty patients with stroke were divided randomly into a stable surface group (SSG, N=10) or unstable surface group (USG, N=10). The participants in the SSG and USG performed task-oriented balance training on stable and unstable surfaces, respectively. All participants were evaluated using the Tetrax, Berg balance scale (BBS), and 10-meter walking test (10MWT) before and after the intervention. Both groups received training 30 min per day, five times per week, for six weeks. RESULTS: The within-group changes in the fall risk, BBS, and 10MWT were significantly different in both USG and SSG (p<.05). USG showed significantly more improvement in the BBS and 10MWT compared to SSG (p<.05). CONCLUSION: Task-oriented balance training on an unstable surface is more beneficial in improving the balance and gait abilities of stroke patients.

  • In this article, we introduce a finite difference method for solving the Navier-Stokes equations in rectangular domains. The method is proved to be energy stable and shown to be second-order accurate in several benchmark problems. Due to the guaranteed stability and the second order accuracy, the method can be a reliable tool in real-time simulations and physics-based animations with very dynamic fluid motion. We first discuss a simple convection equation, on which many standard explicit methods fail to be energy stable. Our method is an implicit Runge-Kutta method that preserves the energy for inviscid fluid and does not increase the energy for viscous fluid. Integration-by-parts in space is essential to achieve the energy stability, and we could achieve the integration-by-parts in discrete level by using the Marker-And-Cell configuration and central finite differences. The method, which is implicit and second-order accurate, extends our previous method [1] that was explicit and first-order accurate. It satisfies the energy stability and assumes rectangular domains. We acknowledge that the assumption on domains is restrictive, but the method is one of the few methods that are fully stable and second-order accurate.

  • A new medium access control protocol is proposed to support stable wireless Internet services. Using the characteristics of the uplink Internet traffic and a Voice-Packet multi-session mode, the proposed protocol transmits the uplink Internet traffic via the voice traffic channel of silent duration in a multi-session mode. Out simulation results show that the proposed protocol guarantees stable wireless Internet services under heavy loads.

  • In this paper, we suggest a new driving waveform for stable address discharge in AC PDP without the reduction of contrast ratio. To analyze the influence of cross-talk between discharge and non-discharge cells and verify that proposed waveform shows a stable address discharge, we measured the address discharge delay time. The proposed waveform shows the reduction of the cross-talk and concurrently the improvement of address voltage margin compared with those of selective reset waveform having one reset period in 1TV-Field..

  • The following is the basic problem about the stability in Riemannian Geometry; given a Riemannian manifold N, find all stable complete minimal submanifolds of N. As answers of this problem, do Carmo-Peng [1] and Fischer-Colbrie and Schoen [3] showed that the stable minimal surfaces in R$^{3}$ are planes and Schoen-Yau [5] and Fischer-Colbrie and Schoen [3] gave a solution for the case where the ambient space is a three dimensional manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature. In this paper we will remove the assumption of finite absolute total curvature in [3, Theorem 3].
