The library as a social agency must study and evaluate its effectiveness and seek to improve its service for achieving the external objectives for which it was created. The study is an attempt to define the determining factors involved in change in library service. Library service evolves as a consequence of social need, which comprises unconventional demands of emerging areas in the subject ratio of literature, change in methods of research, change in the educational level of the community, and change in the user behavior. Since the library is an agency of communication, growth and specialization of information, and increase in variety of information media have effects on library service. The library is one of the many communication agencies in society, and increase or decrease in their programs can be determining factors of change in library service. Today, libraries depend more and more upon interlibrary cooperation to allow them to overcome their limitation in resources and time, and they can bring about changes in their service by adjusting themselves to the interlibrary cooperation arrangements available. Finally, library service is rendered as a result of theorizing as to what the library might or should do, and naturally theories or change in them may be determining factors of library service.

본 연구의 목적은 UNESCO가 제안한 미디어와 정보 리터러시(MIL: Media and Information Literacy)의 개념과 교육내용 및 교육과정을 문헌정보학의 관점에서 탐구하여 도서관과 정보생활 교육과정의 개정에 필요한 기초 정보를 얻고 시사점을 도출하는 데 있다. 분석결과, UNESCO는 미디어 교육에서 정보 리터러시의 특성과 중요성을 부각시키기 위하여 MIL이라는 용어를 사용하였으며, 정보 리터러시와 도서관 리터러시는 MIL의 개념과 교육과정을 구성하는 핵심적인 요인이었다. 또한 UNESCO는 MIL 교육과정의 필수적인 영역으로 '정보 리터러시와 도서관 역량(skills)'을 제시하였고, 핵심역량과 성취 기준도 제시하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 도서관학의 5법칙을 토대로 MIL의 5법칙도 제시하는 등 MIL 교육과정은 정보 리터러시와 도서관 리터러시를 적극적으로 수용하고 있다. 본 연구 결과는 문헌정보학에서 MIL을 적극적으로 수용해야 하는 이유와 도서관과 정보생활 교육과정 개정에 필요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This paper examines the effects of the Internet on the librarianship and how the changing roles of libraries and librarians are reshaping the way they serve the users in the information age. Each area of operations and services in a so-called Digital/Electronic Library, which is a phenomenon occurring now not sometime later in the future, is reviewed. The importance of keeping in mind the library' main mission of providing a service, i.e. access to information, is stressed as the pivotal point of librarianship in this global society influenced by the presence of the Internet.

본 연구는 선진국 대학에서 교육하고 있는 교과목 운영상의 특징을 파악하기 위하여 북미 대학의 문헌정보학 교과목 운영 사례를 비교 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구는 북미 대학 홈페이지의 내용 분석 방법을 통해 수행되었다. 연구내용은 전통적인 문헌정보학대학과 정보학대학의 교과목비교, 북미 대학에서 개설되고 있는 문헌정보학의 교과과정 및 교과목 운영 현황, 영역별 개설 교과목의 종류와 수, 주요교과목들의 분석이다.

This study compare and analyzes recent school library standards in advanced countries including Britain, United States and Japan. The examination is based on the changing process of standards and development of school library in the each countries. To Suggest the model of reasonable standard for the activation of school library in Korea, the study has identified the common elements ; staff, material, environments, management and cooperative system, and learning skill with curriculum of school library standards showed in the each of advanced countries.

As growing internet, the knowledge management system(KMS) is newly introduced in business. And the KMS is very similar with traditional library. By grafting the KMS on the library, to input effectively in production line the knowledge that is important to knowledge society as a production factor, it is necessary to unificate with KMS and library. That unification is finally a new model for 21centry library.

메타분석(Meta-Analysis)이란 분석에 대한 분석(analysis of analysis)이란 의미로, 특정 연구문제에 대해 독립적으로 수행된 선행연구들의 일치하지 않은 결과들을 통합하여 결론을 내리기 위해 개개 연구의 분석결과들을 수학적으로 합성하여 통계적으로 결론을 내리는 방법이다. 본 연구는 메타분석의 특성과 기본원리, 분석 절차, 대표적인 분석모델을 소개하고, 문헌정보학분야에서의 메타분석연구를 고찰하였다. 다른 학문에 비해 문헌정보학에서 메타분석연구는 매우 소량 수행되었고 국내 문헌정보학분야에서는 전무한 상태이다. 문헌정보학에서 메타분석을 수행하는데 문제점과 메타분석연구를 활성화하기 위해 연구자가 보고서 작성시 유의해야 할 내용을 논의하였다.

The present survey aimed at analyzing factors influencing the development of the university library collection, with the special reference to the case of the Education Collection of the Pusan National University Library. For this, the present researchers have identified two areas of influencing factors, i.e.., library factors and user factors. Library factors included collection development policy, manpower, materials received as gift and budget. User factors included faculty and students. For analyzing the factors, the present researchers have relied on qualitative research techniques, using heavily documents produced within the case library, interviews librarians, faculty and students, and observation.

Mental health experts warn the combination of overwhelming amounts of information, economic instability, political discontent, social injustice, and the high infection and death rates of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are negatively impacting mental health in ways that may worsen the pandemic and intensify our primal fear of death. Terror Management Theory (TMT) argues that self-esteem and cultural worldviews serve as defenses against the terror of our own mortality. This theory anchor paper introduces TMT to Library and Information Science (LIS) via a selected literature review on TMT's use in the field of Psychology and an extensive discussion on the conceptual connections to LIS supported with empirical research from related disciplines and contexts. The implications, applications, and usefulness of TMT for LIS research, education, and practice are discussed in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and other contexts, and a research agenda is proposed.

본 연구의 목적은 문헌정보학과 교과과정의 기초 과목으로 볼 수 있는 코어 교과목의 현황을 파악하는 것이다. 대부분의 문헌정보학과들이 코어 교과과정으로 인정되는 필수과목들을 개설하지 않으므로 1980년대의 필수과목들을 조사하여, 이들이 현재의 교과과정에서 어느 정도의 비중을 차지하고 있는가를 분석하였다. 분석의 결과를 학부제의 실시 이전과 비교하면 개설되는 코어 교과목들과 이들이 교과과정에서 차지하고 있는 비중에 별 변화가 없으며, 전통적인 코어 교과목인 자료의 수집, 조직, 봉사, 경영ㆍ관리 및 정보학 관련 교과목들이 교과과정의 많은 부분을 차지하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
