A digital simulation method for Hysteresis motor using Preisach model is proposed. From this, the instantaneous torque, hysteresis loss of rotor can be calculated, considering slot and winding distribution and current harmonics.

This paper shows a asymmetrically controlled method for the simultaneous control of real and reactive power generated by Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES). Asymmetrically controled 12 pulse converter has been proposed in this paper for harmonic reduction of transformer primary current.

As the automic power plant is increased, load leveling energy storage system becomes more important. Pumped hydroelectric storage, used in the present, has too storage efficiency and difficulty in selecting site. But SMES(Superconducting Magnet Energy Storage) has high storage efficiency (90%), fast time response characteristics and ease of location. The general object of SMES with electric power system is the minimization overall production cost. This paper presents a method for the economic operation of SMES by Dynamic Programming.

The most important thing in design procedure of SCG is the exact estimation of the electromagnetic force acting on the field and amature winding. Until now, equivalent circuit method was used for the analysis or electric and magnetic performance. This paper sheds the leo dimensional analysis of electric and magnetic characteristics of SCG by Finite Element Method(FEM). Analysis by FEM provides more areolate results than that of equivalent circuit method because harmonics field generated by field current can he considered. Circuit and field equations are combined together in a equation and solved simultaneously.

This paper presents an adaptive finite element method for magnetostatic force computation using Maxwell's stress tensor Mesh refinements are performed automatically by interelement flux density discontinuity errors and element force errors. In initial mesh, the computed forces for different Integration paths give great differences. but converge to a certain value as mesh division is performed by the adaptive scheme, We obtained good agreement between analytic solutions and numerical values In typical examples.

This paper proposes a new linear adaptive position controller of DC servo motor. The proposed method can improve the drive performance and rapidly reject the state error caused by both parameter variations and force disturbance. The structure of this adaptive control method is based multiloop feedback control and model reference control. Simulation results are presented to verify the improved response when parameter variations and load disturbance give relatively significant effects to the servo system.

And a current source inverter is useful to reduce low order harmonics. In this paper, paise generating method for pulse - width modulation is studied and harmonics with and without paise - width modulation is compared.

Analog and Digital Speed Control Systems have mutually complementary properties. Analog System has good dynamic characteristics and moderate steady-state accuracy and can be implemented economically with operational a ampliers. Digital System, on the contray, has good static accuracy, but relatively poor dynamic property. So, a hybrid system which uses both digital and analog control can have good static and dynamic characteristics. In this paper, it is shown that a simple digital controller can improve steady-state accuracy of existing analog control system satisfactorily, and some design criteria are presented also.

The main purpose of Set-up control of hot strip mill plant is to obtain the most regular thickness. Then the learning or adaptive computer control in hot strip rolling mill has been developed. But it is very difficult to keep the inter-stands load distribution ratio uniform; so that the deviation of strip flatness is not avoidable. This leads to the degradation of quality of the products. In this report, an improved method base on the steepest descent method including the computation of optimum step size. This method is applied to the off-line simulation. In consequence, the better balances of inter-stands load distribution is achieved in addition to improvements of output thickness of hot strip mill in POSCO.

An adaptive model following controller is designed using the theory of variable structure systems. The proposed method allows the designer to satisfy the requirements of short sliding plane reaching time and chattering reduction in the sliding mode. This method is based on the modified condition for the sliding mode. The result of computer simulation shows that state trajectories reach switching plane fast and chattering is reduced.

The purpose of this paper is to compare with the simulated results of two control algorithms control algorithm in the real time, based upon the model. These control schemes are "Computed-torque" and "Feedforward-Dynamics compensation", and have been simulated on the CMU DD Arm II.

In the point-to-point motion on servo system, the control mode which minimizes the performance index including, the impact of end point, time and energy, is proposed. The proposed control mode applied to the feed-back control system of D.C motor and then had a computer simulation. This control mode had less the impact of end point, stedy state error, time and energy than the bang-bang or the saturating- proportional control mode.

The sliding mode control in an effective method to eatablish robustness against parameter variation and disturbance. But. In sliding mode strategy, the control function is discontinuous on the hyperplane. However the discontinuous change in control structure caves the controller input to chaffer and gives non-zero steady state error. Consequently, a multiloop feedback control system supplemented by a complelmentary controller is used to improved the drive performence of a DC servo motor and reduce sensitivity to parameter variation, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances.

One of the recurring problems facing energy control center dispatchers each day is how to operate the system during the periods of high load pick up and fluctuation. This method reduces the problem to a forward - revised by backward - sequence of dispatch problem, with the generator Limits being carefully adjusted between each time interval in the total intervals to be optimized. It is applied to system of 31 units. It is observed that the method presented here achieves that generation fellows the load changes without any mismatch.

A method of digital transmission line protection using travelling wave is presented. It is shown that the fault current appears as a difference of two quantities associated with the travelling wave at each terminal. The phasor of these quantities are extracted and transmitted to the other end via communication channel to detect the line fault.

A non load level decomposition algorithm is presented for power system reactive source planning. The fuel cost is introduced to performance index in optimal operation problem. The investment variables are all reactive sources such as capacitance or inductance. Experiment showed a desirable result and the computation time reduced considerably.

Generally, average invest cost is widely used for expansion planning of generation in power system. But, other cost which is followed by adding generating capacity in electric system is increased in accordance with increasing plant reasons. In this study, we represent the invest cost with quadratic function and analyze its effect on the expansion planning. It is hoped that this method is used in expansion planning of generating system.

The quadratic cost function J(x) and the normalized residuals $r_N$ are conventionally used for identifying the presence and location of bed measurements in power system state estimation. These are "post estimation" tests and therefore require the complete re-estimation of system states whenever bed data is identified. This paper presents a pre-filter for reducing errors of the raw measurements using an adaptive filter. Each measurement is processed by the adaptive filter before being used in the state estimation. The performance of the adaptive filter is tested and the results are shown in this paper.

With the increase of size and complicacy of power systems, distribution system need to operate effectively for high reliability. In order to achieve this purpose, the study which apply expert system to operating plan, restoration on fault and distribution system operating, has developing actively. The essential element of the study is system line state which make a system observe. The development of expert system on power system operation make a system be able to judge state of loading and looping system line, related current direction, substation, and distribution line, atomatically by breaker operation. Finally, this paper developed expert system which decides itself atomatically by rules for deciding system line state.

The algorithm presented here achieves mathematically better decoupling of the MW-$\theta$ and MVARE Calculations by applying linear transformations to load flow equation on paired initial power. The linear transformations to decouple Jacobian matrix prove to be highly profitable considering both Convergence characteristics and computation time per iteration to those required by the FDLF, because the decoupling does not rely on the assumption that the transmission lines have high X/R ratios.

Load forecasting is an important issue as for the economic dispatch and there have been many researches which are classfied into two classes, time series method and factor analysis method. But the former is not adaptive for a sudden change of a correlated factor and the latter is not inefficient as the factor estimation is not easy. To make matters worse, both of them are not good for the estimation of special days. It is because the load forecasting is not a problem modeled precisely in mathematics, but a problem requires experience and knowledge those can solve it case by case. In this viewpoint, an expert system is proposed which can use complicated experience of an expert by use of fuzzy decision.

This paper deals with an application of an expert system to transmission line fault diagnosis using alarm information line possible solution can be obtained even in case that the cause of alarms is due to relays, circuit breakers or alarm systems. The expert system diagnoses not only any possible fault element, but also normal or abnormal misoperations. Also, this system can give any possible answers only when the sum of appropriate error indices assigned to false operation of devices is less than the appropriate criterion specified in advance. (Fixed Capacitor and Thyristor Controlled Reactor) A model at harmonic frequency is developed for a STATIC VAR compansator. The model is shown to be useful in predicting resonance condition. A new variable filter is used for synthesized harmonic elimination.

This Paper describes a algorithm for evaluating the loss of load probability of a generating system using Fast Hartley Transform. The Fast Hartley Transform(FHT) Is as fast as or faster than the Fast Fourier Transform(FHT) and serves for all the uses such as spectral, digital processing and convolution to which the FFT is at present applied. The method has been tested by applying to IEEE reliability test system and the effectiveness is demonstrated.

This paper presents a new algorithm using power flow solution which is given by the polar form Newton-Raphson method in a transient stability analysis. The computation time to solve network equations can be much saved by a decoupled power flow method. In addition, the time is much saved in performing a approximate stability analysis by linearizing the differential equations and using a voltage and angle sensitivity matrix given in network equations.

This paper describes requirements for cogenerating in parallel with utility. Cogenerating is the simultaneous generation of energy in two or more forms, usally electricity and heat. Cogeneration is most energy efficient when generating in paralled will the electric utility, but requires proper control and protection. When onsite generation and utility systems are operated in parallel, there are many factors. such as operation mode. point of connection, grounding, synchronizalion. protective relaying, metering, and the like, that must be considered to provide safe and efficient operation.

Since the integration level of VLSI circuits progresses very quickly, a highly reliable thin $SiO_2$ film is required to fabricate a small-geometry MOS device. In the present study we have attempted to eliminate the failure-causing defects that develop in thin oxide films during the oxidation step by performing a long-time preoxidation and postoxidation annealing. The TDDB test and the copper decoration method were used to calculate the oxide defects density of MOS device. The dielectric reliability of high-quality thin oxides have been studied by using the time-zero-dielectric-breakdown (ramp-voltage-stressed I-V) and time-dependent-dielectric -breakdown (Constant-stressed I-V) tests. Failure times against temperature and electric field are examined and acceleration factors are abtained for each parameter. Based on the data obtained, breakdown wearout limitation for thin oxide films is estimated.

Mica glass ceramics are known for their good electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. These materials are produced by appropriate heat treatment of a suitable glass composition. In this paper electrical properties of mica glass ceramics with fluorcphlogopite crystalline phase have been investigated. At frequency range 1kHz-10MHz dielectric constants fall in the range fran 7.5 to 8.5 with law dissipation factors(0.002-0.008)at room temperature.

The fabrication of devices using plans technology could lend to n serious degradation in the breakdown voltage as a result of high electric field at the edges. An elegant approach to reducing the electric field at the edge is by using field limiting ring. The presence of surface charge has n strong influrence on the depletion layer spreading at the surface region because this charge complements the charge due to the ionized acceptors inside the depletion layer. Surface charge of either polarity can lower the breakdown voltage because it affects the distribution of electric field st the edges. In this paper we discuss the influrences of fixed oxide charge on the breakdown voltage of the p+/n junction with field limiting ring(or without field limiting ring).

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of alpha particles on the memory circuits such as a sense amplifier and bit lines. Sense amplifiers column alpha particle hits have been simulated for a mega bit DRAM using SPICE, a circuit simulation program. The energy of alpha particle and the substrate concentration are found to strongly influence the likehood of soft errors. Our results may be useful for the designing of alpha particle immune sense amplifiers.

This paper reports optical properties and hole formation of a 488nm-optimumed trilayer structure utiluzed Te-based thin films as a recording layer, and the application of trilayer to 830nm. The optical recording characteristics of metallic recording media are enhanced significantly by incoporating the metal (Al) layer into an antireflection trilayer structure. Due to the interference condition inherent in the design of the trilayer structure, reflectance from holes is ranked a low fraction. the hole formation is carried out by laser by $Ar^+$ laser(488nm). For 20nsec laser pulse duration, the hole opening threshold power of $(Te_{86}Se_{14})_{50}Bi_{50}$ trilayer is lower than that of monolayor that used in this experiments. Hole shapes of the whole sample were clean. For the application of the diode laser, the thickness of dielectric is varied by$\lambda$/4n. In order to compare the monolayer with the trilayer reflectance was measured.

The p-n homo junction diode of the III-V ternary alloy semiconductor $In_{1-x}Ga_xP$ : S grown by the temperature gradient solution (TGS) was fabricated by Zn-diffusion, and it's characteristics was investigated. The carrier concentration of $In_{1-x}Ga_xP$ doped with sulfur, 0.5 mol %, was $1{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$ and the mobility was varied with the composition. In the case that the diffusion time was constant as 30 minutes. The temperature dependence of diffusion coefficient was decreased from D= $4.2{\times}10^{-5}$ exp (-1.74/$k_{B}T$) to D= $2.5{\times}10^{-5}$ exp (-3.272/$k_{B}T$) with increasing of composition $\times$ from 0.43 to 0.98. The major peak of E.L spectrum was due to D-A pair recombination and the peak intensity was increased with the increasing of input current. And the E.L intensity was decreased with the increasing temperature, and shift to the long wavelength. The luminescence efficiencies measured at $5^{\circ}C$, atmosphere temperature, was decreased from $2.6{\times}10^{-4}$% to $9.49{\times}10^{-6}$ % with increasing of composition it from 0.39, direct transition region, to 0.98, indirect transition region.

Studies and measurements of open circuit voltage in a metal/insulator/metal structure where metal are electrodes, when the insulator molecules have dipole moments all oriented parallel to each other have been reported here. The measured voltage has been shown to be directed related to the dipole moment of the molecules in the films. The insulator ultra thin films was deposited on them by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique to obtain the structure referred to as z type and Hetero structure of LB films.

This study is to investigate the adhesive strength of composite material's interface on the experimental methode of tree growth in the material. The results are as fellows 1) The irradiations of ultrasonic energy cause the mechanical vibration in the polymer composite materials of fluid state, so then bring about physical dispersion and heat form inorganic materials, being supposed to produce chemical crosslinking reaction, decreasing of voids between filler and matrix. 2) The characterics of the breakdown are increased by using coupling agent in the composite material. 3) As the intensity of ultrasonic energy and its irradiated time are larger, the tree inception and break-down voltages increase and the tree growing is slower. so we obtain that the interface adhesive force tan be strengthened by the irradiation of ultrasonic energy.

Relaxation spectra of the linear dielectric constants $\varepsilon=\varepsilon'-j{\varepsilon}"$ have been measured as functions of temperature and frequency for alternating copolymers of vinylidene cyanide (VDCN/VAc, VDCN/VPr, VDCN/VBz and VDCN/St) It is found that the linear dielectric constants e show characteristics of the temperature dependence that the real part have a large peak related to the glass transition point(Tg), and of the frequency dependence that the real port increases with decreasing frequency and the imaginary part increases largely in low frequency range. These phenomena mean Debye-type relaxation due to the micro-Brownian moi ions of non-crystalline seqments.

Nitrided oxides have been investigated recently for application as a replacement for thermally grown $SiO_2$ in MIS devices. In this paper, thin oxides were nitrided in $N_2$ Plasma ambient. With the measurement of the equivalent paralled conductance and capacitance by the using coductance technique, the characterization of Si-SiON interface is developed. The interface state density of Si-SiON is obtained by $1{\times}10^{11}{\sim}9{\times}10^{11}(eV^{-1}Cm^{-2})$. After${\pm}$B-T stress is performed on the sample, the interface state density gets increased.

The native oxide films were thermally and anodically formed on the n-GaP substrates grown by SSD method and measured this oxide thickness and the chemical composition and the electrical properties with formation condition. The chemical composition of themally oxidized GaP film was composed of mostly $GaPO_4$ at temperature below $800^{\circ}C$ and mostly $\beta-Ga_{2}O_{3}$ above $800^{\circ}C$. But The chemical composition of anodically oxidized GaPfilm was composed of the mixture of $Ga_{2}O_{3}$ and $P_{2}O_{5}$. The barrier height of Al/oxide/n-Gap which was formed at $700^{\circ}C$ by thermal oxidation method were 1.10eV, 1.03eV in Current-Voltage measurement. Interface charge density were $4{\times}10^{12}q(C/cm^2)$ and $3{\times}10^{12}q(C/cm^2)$ in Capacitance-Voltage measurement respectively.

TRIODE etching characteristics are studied. 13.56 MHz is applied to the Lower electrode and 100 KHz to the upper electrode. Wafers are etched on the lower electrode and we investigate their characteristics and compare then with those of RIE. It shows TRIODE etch rate is much higher than that of RIE but the surface is more contaminated.

Fixed boundary MHD static equilibrium for the axisymmetric toroidal plasma is analyzed numerically. The Grad-Shafranov equation is solved using FFM. The toroidal current tenn is expressed by plasma pressure p($\psi$) and toroidal field function g($\psi$). The numerical results are compared to the Solovev analytic equilibrium for the verification of the analysis. For SNUT-79 tokamak device in Seoul National University, flux surfaces and toroidal current profiles according to the variation of p and g profiles are observed. Also the safety factor q and average beta are obtained.

A new and accurate expression to derive a window area is presented with a sequence for daylighting design using Daylight Factor Method process not in its classical point--by-point method but in lumen method as in artificial lighting design process to consider daylight in the early stage of a building design process. Accepting CIE Overcast Sky as the worst state with the lowest sky luminance, a user of a room can have more available daylight in his or her room. In the design process uniformity is checked to ensure reasonably even daylighting by comparing the depth of the room with the computed limiting depth. After these steps the shape and position of window is altered, of which the Sky Component of Daylight Factor under an Overcast Sky, SCo, is investigated and computed in Composite Simpson Multiple Integral so that a building designer or an analyst can choose the best shape and location that satisfies his/her taste and purpose of the room.

Aging process in transformer insulating oil is studied by measuring the leakage current in ceramic sensor. the current of a sensor developed if this paper shows a close relationship with the acid value and the breakdown voltage of the transformer oil. The sensor has excellent physico-chemical reaction to the oil and stable adsorption of conductive impurities. Therefore the experimental data show good reproducibility. From the detailed analysis of the leakage current, it may be proposed that the condition of transformer insulating oil in service can be checked portably.

Arc properties including temperature, electrical conductivity, and optically thick and optically thin radiation fluxes were calculated as functions of radius and time.

Induced voltage causing disturbances on the communication lines of electric train is dealt with when the AT power supply system is employed. In the paper we obtain an algorithm to calculate the induced voltages on the communication lines in the AT system and an algorithm for the induced current in case of the accident that the line falls to the ground. These algorithms are developed to a package of computer programs and their validity was checked on a simulated system.

The simplified equivalent by using the short circuit impedance has been used for analyzing the prospective transient recovery voltage of the large power system. But it sometimes generates untorelable error in the rate-of-rise of TRV when using the Thevenin equivalent source. This paper provides the new equivalent by using the multi-port theory. The application of the new method to the sample system gives satisfactory accuracy compared with the short-circuit equivalent.

This paper reports the experiments regarding to diagnosis techniques for power transformers by measuring dissipation factor and moisture contents of mineral oils. Thermal aging environments of mineral oils were varied by the specially designed systems. Thermal aging of elevated temperature of $90^{\circ}C$ was performed for about 240 and 460 hours, respectively. Dissipation factor, permittivity, and water content were measured. Our test samples were not exposed to air. Dissipation factor increased while permittivity did not change. The level of dissipation factor determining the insulating quality of mineral oil was compared with the previous results of resistivity and several correction factor.

The electrical insulation characteristics of the Epoxy resin is generally depended upon the cross-Link. Therefore, when the Epoxy is cured the full cross-Link must be gotten to obtain the best electrical insulation property. This paper alms at examining the cure condition to get the best cross-link. The Epoxy used in this experiment is DGEBA, the curing materiel is MNA, and the accellator is tertiary amine. In this study, the best curing condition of cross-link is suggested by analysing the each Epoxy resin which is differenty cured according Lo the variable temperatures and curing times.

In this paper, the negative ion mobility of $SF_6$ is determined using as a negative ion detector the burst pulse which is triggered in a positive point-plane gap by electrons detached from negative ions near the anode point. The result obtained for the negative ion mobility for zero field at atmospheric pressure is $0.57cm^2v^{-1}s^{-1}$.

This paper discribes an improved technique for locating partial discharge sites within operating transformers by ultrasonic method which utilizes the different travel times of the electrical and ultrasonic signals produced by partial discharges to determine the location of the sources. The technique was to develope the measurement system based on the enhancement of the acoustic emission signals using signal square, circuit to improve the detectable sensitivity and reliability. Also an ultrasonic pulse generator was designed and made to transmit periodically pulses equivalent to pratial discharges and to check the good performance of the system, echo effects and self-diagnosis. Through the laboratory work, it was confirmed that the system and the generator can be used satisfactorily for diagnosing power transformers and for studying echo effects and self-diagnosis of the system.

Investigations were made on the effects of wire-shaped conducting particles in compressed gas chamber on breakdown voltage. The objective was to recognize the relationship between the length of wire-shaped conducting particles and a.c breakdown voltage. Also the influence of conducting particles on corona inception voltage and extinction voltage were investigated. The values of breakdown voltage and corona inception, extinction voltages were calculated by wire shaped-conducting particles lengths.

The electron swarm drift velocity for nitrogen gas is calculated in the range of 4 - 240 [Td] (1 Td = $10^{-17}V{\cdot}cm^2$). The result is in good agreement with the data measured by the time-of-flight method in the previous study. Also, an accurate and efficient method for solving the electron swarm parameters in gases is described.

This paper introduces a method to reduce the reactive power required by electronic converters. The instantaeous reactive power is calculated and compensated by the current controlled PWH voltage source converter connected parallel between the power lines and the converter. A high performance current control technique which is based on the current deviation vector is used for the PWM converter as compensator of reactive power. Accurate compensation of the reactive power and t control system ensuring fast response to the sudden change of loaf are attained. The converter structure and control scheme are discussed. Simulation of the system is performed.

In this paper, the coupling of external electromagnetic fields to transmission lines is studied. The emphasis is on the practical solution of Problems involving the excitation of currents on the wires by natural and man-made sources of electromagnetic fields, First, this study develops the theory of excitation of a two-wire transmission line illuminated by electromagnetic field the coupling equations are solutions of differential equations which include the source terms due to the incident fields. And equations in this paper reduce to simple forms when the incident field is a plane wave.

And the analysis and dynamic performance of a slip frequency controlled current source inverter fed induction motor drive with stator frequency compensation (indirect torque angle control) is investigated. The current control loop including motor is modeled and speed control loop including the frequency compensation is analysed. And transfer function of overal system is simplified. Experimental results are given in support of the analytical procedure.

For the current control of brushless motor, it is possible to generate the reference current waveforms by a microcomputer. But, with a single microprocessor, those reference current waveforms are not produced in smooth shapes because of computation speed. To solve this problem an attempt hag been made in this paper to use two processors, where the additional processor is to transform the current space vectors. This approach does not increase the complexity of the design considerably compared to the cage of using a single processor.

This paper presents the result of driving performance analysis of PMSM type AC servo motor based on control system using a microprocessor. The experiment using the microprocessor is tested with a 120[v], 200[w] PMSM type AC servo motor. The PWM signal generated in the microprocessor for the servo motor voltage is chapped by power transistor modules to change the AC servo motor speed. The torque of the AC servo motor with a permanent magnet can be easily controlled over a wide range by changing the AC servo motor current.

This paper derives a condition foe constant voltage i constant frequency generation of doubly-fed induction generator. The condition is varied by the magnitude of output voltage, load current and its power factor, slip of the machine. Magnitude of output voltage is controlled by exiting voltage which is caculated by derived equation from operating condition. frequency of output voltage is controlled by injecting slip frequency to the rotor which is the difference between wanted output frequency and rotor frequency.

The equations which describe the dynamic performance of asymmetrical two-phase induction motors are established and analyzed dynamic characteristics by digital computer simulation. The differential equation is solved by the algorithm of predictor-corrector method. The effects due to machine parameters are analyzed.

A problem of the surface friction is inevitable in the micro machines. However, the levitation by Meissner effect of high Tc superconductor gives a complete solution to the problem. The repulsive force between permanent magnets and superconductors is utilized to levitate and actuate micro structures without the surface friction. In this paper, a micro actuator using; Meissner effect of high Tc superconducting film (Meissnac) is proposed ; Meissnac is drived by the control of (Sugerconducting/ Normal) states of superconductor. The levitating force and the driving force are analyzed by the numerical method.

Polycrystalline transparent semiconducting zinc oxide film has been characterized for their electrical properties. The conductivity of the film could be increased by approximately five times of magnitude by annealing it in hydrogen at 400 C. The electrical properties measured on the temperature range of RT to 120 K give support well to the model which depicts the importance of the grain boundary effects on the electrical conduction of zinc oxide film.

In this papers, in order to decreased the ZnO varistor breakdown voltage, additives the $TiO_2$ with ZnO varistors. The effects of addition $TiO_2$ with ZnO varistor are discussed. Observation of ZnO varistor microstructures are photospectroscopy and SEM, and variation of phase are XRD analysis. Experimental results, the more increased the $TiO_2$ contents the more decreased the mean grain size of ZnO. Also, results of XRD analysis, the more increased the $TiO_2$ contents the more increased the spinel structures.

A simple analytical model for the lateral channel electric field in gate - offset structured Lightly Doped Drain MOSFET has been developed. The model's results agree well with two dimensional device simulations. Due to its simplicity, our model gives a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in reducing the electric field in the LDD MOSFET. The model shows clearly the dependencies of the lateral channel electric field as function of drain and gate bias conditions and process, design parameters. Advantages of analytical model over costly 2-D device simulations is to identify the effects of various parameters, such as oxide thickness, junction depth, gate / drain bias, the length and doping concentration of the lightly doped region, on the peak electric field that causes hot - electron phenomena, individually. We are able to find the optimum doping concentration of LDD minimizing the peak electric field and hot - electron effects.

The MS diodes made by evarporating In, Au/Ge on the p-GaP substrates, and the p-n diode made by diffusing Te in the p-GaP were fabricated, and its electric-optical characteristics were surveyed. The maximum peak of E.L spectrum was shifted towards the longer wavelengths with increasing temperature, and its intensity increased with in-creasing of current. The MS diodes were fabricated rather easily and is electric-optical characteristics was as good as that of p-n diodes.

The III-V ternary alloy semiconductor $In_{l-x}Ga_{x}As$ were grown by the temperature Gradient of $0.60{\leq}x{\leq}0.98$. The electrical properties were investigated by the Hall effect measurement with the Van der Pauw method in the temperature range of $90{\sim}300K$. $In_{l-x}Ga_{x}As$ were revealed n-type and the carrier concentration at 300K were in the range of $9.69{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}{\sim}7.49{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$. The resistivity was increased and the carrier mobility was decreased with increasing the composition ratio. The optical energy gap determined by optical transmission were $20{\sim}30meV$ lower than theoretical valves on the basis of absorption in the conduction band tail and it was decreased with increasing the temperature by the Varshni rule. In the photoluminescence of undoped $In_{l-x}Ga_{x}As$ at 20K, the main emission was revealed by the radiative recombination of shallow donor(Si) to acceptor(Zn) and the peak energy was increased with increasing the composition, X. The diffusion depth of Zn increases proportionally with the square root of diffusion time, and the activation energy for the Zn diffusion into $In_{0.10}Ga_{0.90}As$ was 2.174eV and temperatures dependence of diffusion coefficient was D = 87.29 exp(-2.174/$K_{B}T$). The Zn diffusion p-n $In_{x}Ga_{x}As$ diode revealed the good rectfying characteristics and the diode factor $\beta{\approx}2$. The electroluminescence spectrum for the Zn-diffusion p-n $In_{0.10}Ga_{0.90}As$ diode was due to radiative recombation between the selectron trap level(${\sim}140meV$) and Zn acceptor level(${\sim}30meV$). The peak energy and FWHM of electroluminescence spectrum at 77K were 1.262eV and 81.0meV, respectively.

W/CE system contacts were manufactured f a press sinter-infiltrate process to compare with their arc erosion mechanism. The results of arc switching test show that erosion rate of contacts is dependence of test current and there is difference in the erosion rates between W contacts and WC contacts. At high current of 1000A erosion rate of W contacts is critically increased by formation of surface cracks. In especial arc anti-erosion is improved by Hi additive.

Dual converter is being used as a four-quadrant source for the controlled rectifier. But the rectifier itself and circulating current between P and N-converter contribute to generate reactive power. The methodology of input power factor control of dual converter by means of circulating current control is presented in this paper.

New circuit D-Q transformation concept is introduced to analyze AC converters such as inverters, rectifiers and cyclo-converters with ease. The equivalent linear time invariant circuit is obtained by substituting switches with equivalent turn-ratio variable transformers and changing balanced AC reactors into equivalent DC reactors combined by gyrators. This circuit enables us to utilize the powerful linear system analysis techniques such as Laplace transform otherwise which could not be applied to the time varying switching systems. Direct substitution of switches of DC converters with transformers is shown as a preliminary. Then the modeling procedure is shown for a controlled rectifier-inverter circuit. Finally an analysis example is proposed for a buck-boost inverter and the result is compared with the conventional approach. This approach is applicable to all AC converter families to determine the AC transfer functions and the DC operating points. It is identified that the switching systems are equivalent to the RLC filter circuits with transformers and gyrators.

In this paper, the time-averaged behavior of the three-phase Inductor-Converter Bridge (ICB) circuit has been analyzed by using the state-space averaging method. The results are in closed form far from the results obtained by using the Fourier series. Therefore, the computational difficulties of the infinite Fourier series can be avoided and the results derived in this paper are available especially in real time control. Unlike the SFC, $S^{4}LCL$, DFC and other circuits which have time varying switching intervals for a constant time-averaged value of coil voltage, the ICB circuits operate with a clock-driven sequence of gate pulses which have constant switching intervals.

In this paper, the relationship between stability and gain band-width product (GB) is clear ed by evaluating the feedback gain in the buck-boost switching regulator. Especially, considering the effect of the right-half-plane pole on the stability, we found available region of GB on the stability with the one pole compensation for the feedback circuit.

But the devices using these semiconductors generate harmonics from the non-linear load, which gives rise to various obstacles. In this paper, therefore, as 3 taps are connected in input line, we can multiply the pulse in input line, by which harmonics is reduced.

In this paper a control technique for active power filters is proposed which not only eliminates the harmonic current, but also controls the reactive power at the ac side of PWM inverter-induction motor drive system. Injecting the proposed PWM current enables the harmonic components of orders not greater than the pulse number per half-cycle to be removed completely. It also enables the input power factor to become unity. Theoretical investigations are performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed control technique.

This paper presents a study on the operation of a digitally controlled DC servo motor drive at low speed region. Two schemes aiming to improve the transient behavior of the speed control system are considered. The first scheme is the current positive feedback scheme to reduce the sensitivity of the system with respect to the load torque variations. The second one is the speed observer based on a motor model. Finally, the two schemes are studied by simulation and then verified experimetally using a prototype DC motor drive.

A disturbance and parameter variations cause a steady and/or transient error in the conventional de servo motor drive system. In this paper robust control system for dc servo motor drive taking disturbance and parameter variations into account is proposed. The proposed control system compensates rapidly the state error caused by disturbance and parameter variations. Simulation results show that the proposed method is robust for the steady and transient response in the presence of both disturance and parameter variations.

The active filter system for harmonic current compensation is presented in this paper. The active filter compensates both the harmonic currents and the reactive power by injecting the PWM current to the ac line. This paper describes the principle of harmonic current compensation, the calculation circuits for the harmonic currents to be injected, also the experimental results are shown to verify the theory proposed in this paper.

A Microprocessor Based Digital Control System is inherently contained a control lag for processing the control program and a data detection time lag. This two types of time lag may cause the system to become unstable. In this paper proposed predictive state observer is used to solve the two time lag problems. I-P control algorithm is used to attain deadbeat response by adjusting the observer gain to overcome the parameter variation or with disturbance. The speed response shows good performance through computer simulation.

An adaptive control system for D.C servo drive is developed via minimum variance control theory. The problem of designing this controller under varying load conditions is discussed. A robust self tuning controller that can track a constant reference and reject constant load disturbance is developed. Simulation study shows that the controller has excellent adaptation, capability as well as transient recovery under load changes.

This paper discuss which new dynamic control method for robot arm. It is basedon nonlinear feedback and T transformation which externally linearizes the whole system and provides simultaneous output decoupling. The nonlinear feedback augmented with optimal error correcting controller, which operates on the task error level. Computer simulation were appled to evaluate the performance of new dynamic control method. The simulation results are discussed in detail.

This paper presents a methodology for developing the graphic simulator for a robotic workcell. The Petri Net model is applied to described the system state and the workcell simulation is performed by the event scheduling approach of the model. For the graphic display of simulation process, the information of the workcell resources are stored in hierachically-structured data_babe, and the geometry of the resources is described by robot modelling, component modelling, and world modelling.

Digital processing of measured data offers a powerful means to improve the resolution and quality of ultrasonic imaging. The present research demonstrates that filtering typical B-scan images using Wiener filter enhances lateral resolutions by more than 50 percent. The filter is operated using the measured signal amplitude across the transmitter beam and the beam with. It is optimized for low noise and high resolution By an empirical approach. This bethod for lateral filtering produces a very useful result for the line images with high interference by neighboring lines.

In this paper, a grasping force control of robot hand is presented with consideration of workpiece dynamics. It is difficult to control a manipulator without the knowledge of Its dynamics, because its handling with unknown workpiece may bring about overshoots and vibrations. Then it is necessary to adjust control gains according to the handling workpieces in order to achieve good control performances. The authors propose a new control strategy which uses adaptive observer and VSS (${\underline{V}}ariable$ ${\underline{S}}tructure$ ${\underline{S}}ystem$) controller to subdue these overshoots and vibrations. Some simulations of the proposed method are carried out for a grasping system to control the grasping force to various workpieces, whose dynamics cannot be known in advance.

This paper deals with signal processing and pattern recognition for the pulsed doppler radar. In order to identify the class of moving targets detected by radar, linear predictive analysis is utilized to extract reflection coefficients of each radar signal as features, and Bayes decision theory is applied to classify them.

The problem of estimating the frequencies of multiple sinusoids from noisy measurements by using the modified linear prediction methods - Modified Forward-Backward Linear Prediction(MFBLP) and Model Reduction(MR) methods is addressed in this paper. The MFBLP and MR methods are derived by singular value decomposition and approximation of linear system. respectively. Monte Carlo simulations are done and the performances compared with linear prediction and forward-backward linear prediction. Simulations show a great promise for MFBLP and MR.

A new image coding system called knowledge- based coding is presented which uses positively the knowledge for coding objects. The 3- dimensional model and the psychological knowledge for a person's face can be used as the knowledge for a coding system, when a person's face is coding object. A transmitter analyzes input images and a receiver synthesizes output images using them. The construction of 3-dimensional model and the introduction of the psychological knowledge to the new coding system are discussed. The basic facial expressions are synthesized from a neutral face using them. The synthesized images are very natural.

To obtain both lift and guidance forces, either seperate vertical and horizontal reaction rails with a ssociated magnets may be used, or a pair of magnets each latterally staggered relative lo the rail center line may be empolyed. This paper deals with the latter design, and shows that the heave and sway motions arc decoupled by linearization for small heave and sway displacement and for large sway displacement. However. there are some cowpling factors because of parameter variation nonlinear effects, which are compensated.
